The voice acting, audio and animations are great! So is the gameplay, I like this game, different vehicles or bosses would be a fun addition.

simon-rahnasto 2022-10-04 17:39

What a great entry! I really like the audio work, specially the engine sounds and overall the tank sfx. Visually the tank looks great and the explosion particle effect is very juicy. All of this leads to the combat being very satisfying, which is awesome

I feel like the balance was spot on, I managed to beat the game & raise the flag even though I am a bit tired after the jam.

Fantastic game feel, great voice acting, graphics, animations. Nostaligic. Loved it. Well done

gonzalol 2022-10-06 14:57

It's a good entry. Graphics are great, audio is awesome. I like the concept but it's too hard to control combining mouse and so many keys in keyboard.

aegisfate 2022-10-06 14:58

The voice acting and sound effects are excellent, easy to understand and fun to play, if there are more types of enemies and weapons it would be better, well done.

elmos-minion 2022-10-06 14:59

Very all-around solid game. The voice acting and animations were high quality, and gameplay is quick and fun. I do think the UI could use a touch-up, but apart from that great work! 😁

jejkobb 2022-10-06 14:59

The audio is incredible. I loved the whole feel of the game, reminds me of metal gear solid. The voice acting was so cool and the gameplay felt super fun. Well done man!

babbersher 2022-10-06 14:59

Great audio! Great gameplay! Over all fun to play. But not sure how this game matches theme of every 10 seconds.

matt-ravenhall 2022-10-06 15:04

Everything is great here, especially the voice acting.

einfachnuralex 2022-10-06 15:09

Great game! It was really addicting after I explored that there was a mortar to get rid of the obstacles :D Mabye I just overread something but it was hard in the beginning to figure out what to do at the barricades.

langotriel 2022-10-06 15:17

@babbersher Glad you enjoyed the game! the supply drops happen every 10 seconds, adding strategic complexity to the game (balancing how many and what kinds of supply drops you go for VS staying on the tank to defend).

The radio voice at the start also tells you that you get supply drops every 10 seconds, in case it wasn't otherwise clear :) Hope that makes sense!

PS: this is why the game is called "Supply & Command" as it covers the 2 main aspects of the game.

Helicopters and airplanes over the sky would be amazing! The mortar idea was interesting. Maybe managing a team operating the tank would be really cool! Overall the game is well done!

pier-v 2022-10-06 16:18

The theme was implemented extremely well, nice job! Easy to grasp mechanics, flawless controls with great feedback, good rhythm with a nice balance between shooting sessions and calmer "repair" sessions.

As a Cortex Command long time player, I obviously liked the graphics and the animations. I found music a bit repetitive but it still made a good job accompaning the scene - on the other hand, voice acting and sound effect were simply spot on.

Maybe a bit easy, but if this ever becomes a full game what I've played so far would make for an excellent first level. Thanks for sharing your game, and good luck with the jam!

jammin 2022-10-06 17:47

At first I didn't quite understand, but after a few minutes, I get it. There really is a flow to your game, that was great!

sanyingli 2022-10-07 08:17

Great job, after taking a little time to get used to the control the game is really fun to play. I guess if you add more levels and enemy types, the game will be ready to release as a full game.

sohei 2022-10-07 11:06

Quite unique entry. The challenge is strong, but fun. Sound fx is really extraordinary and the visuals match the mood. I love explosions. Great game!

sleepymenace 2022-10-07 15:08

Excellent sound and great use of simple visuals! That autocannon sounds great, and holy shit is the special ammo beefy. Also really good voice acting, which was pleasantly surprising!

(Activating special ammo with E and getting on/off with space felt a bit confusing though, feels like it should be the other way around.)

All around an enjoyable game, great job!

jonah 2022-10-07 17:31

Awesome job on the sound design and voice acting! Fun game with a nice learning curve!

Great controls and feeling of operating a powerful tank!

Good job overal!

thatzniko 2022-10-08 10:25

Loved the voice acting, played it on my stream!

phufhi 2022-10-08 16:32

Really high quality game! It took me some time to get used to switching between posts but after a while it becomes quite satisfying. It was on the easy side but still very fun.

platyp 2022-10-11 22:41

Amazing interpretation on the theme with a great loop. Kept panicking that the tank traps were damaging me, but then got a lot calmer as I realised they just stopped the loop temporarily for a breather.

mtabasco 2022-10-13 16:33

Great entry! Love the audio and specially the voice acting, it really felt like if you were on the battlefield

ksimaster 2022-10-13 17:03

I liked it! The voice acting is gorgeous!

gamedevtraum 2022-10-13 18:22

Nice mechanics and the sounds very cool. Excellent work :muscle:

gildar76 2022-10-14 21:19

Great work on audio and gameplay, one of my favorite entries so far. As with many other games, adjustable volume would have been nice.

op-sidearm 2022-10-15 19:05

Love the narration!

poshdan 2022-10-17 04:44

(Good) voice acting in a jam game, this is a first for me! 2D call of duty, I like it!

outfrost 2022-10-17 13:16

The driver urging me to immediately take out anti-tank blockades discouraged me from doing what it turns out I was actually supposed to do, which was to take out enemy personnel first, and _then_ blow up the blockades. Based on the flurry of instructions being thrown at me by the game it was difficult to figure out the right things to do, and I felt I was being punished for not acting quickly enough. It didn't help that the autocannon and mortar rotated slowly, so when I was looking at the enemies (instead of at the vehicle), I couldn't really tell if I was aimed in the right direction yet or not - particularly annoying with the mortar, given its reload time. I also felt like the action vs downtime could've been paced a bit better, and the camera motion could use a little bit of smoothing.

That said, cool idea, and well put together! The audio is amazing, the visuals are very nice and satisfying, and the controls, despite the chaos, are intuitive and responsive enough. Well done!

Hey @langotriel - really glad I got to check your game! A neat tank mechanic, that felt fun to control and was pretty original experience. I like that it felt like an arcade game, yet there was still a sense of narrative and finishing the game. Despite not really having a story, the setting and voice acting helped set an environment for the player to exist in!

honey-pony 2022-10-18 19:56

This was a pretty fun game! I think the mechanics you've chosen work really well together to build a cohesive world that also has interesting strategic implications.

So, one thing that's interesting is that it really is reasonably easy to pickup any supply drop, as getting off the tank makes it slow down. So, often, if there was a repair kit incoming that I needed, I would just get off the tank, as there were no enemies in sight, and that would make it very easy to grab the repair kit.

However, when trying to pickup resource kits when enemies were nearby, the design of the tank made this a real risk. In particular, the ladder is all the way on the back of the tank--so although it is very fast to walk off the right side and pickup a resource on the right, it is actually difficult to get back onto the tank and start using a weapon. I can't just walk left again to get back to the autocannon, but I have to go around.

The variation in the two weapons is also a lot of fun. The autocannon was the most generally useful, I found, because it was both precise and fast to reload. The use of the barricades to force switching weapons was nice, however, and it also leads to the question of whether it's better to try to kill all the enemies and the barricade with one mortar shot, or if it's better to snipe all the enemies and then destroy the barricade (which is what I ended up doing).

I ended up not using the special shots very much as I had sort of forgotten what the control was. As such, I do think the game could be beaten pretty easily without ever collecting any of the special ammo. I do think the special ammo is a nice addition, as it gives another possible strategy... for example, maybe I would end up needing few repairs had I used the special ammo more often.

So overall, great game. All the mechanics fit together pretty well, and it was fun to play through it. And, I love the voice acting as well. It's a nice touch.
