Snake Mango by Kappa.B 2018-08-15T14:03:20Z
Nice idea but the controls feel a bit laggy :/

Nice idea but the controls feel a bit laggy :/
It's really hard to interact with the flowers, I klicked them several times, but some of them seem to not do anything.
Breaking the walls after getting the big upgrade was really satisfying, good job! :D
I enjoyed it a lot, but an option to run and to pick up more then 1 thing (maybe 3 at max) could be a nice touch
I almost won my first game against 4 opponents, but the last one caught me offguard and killed me :c
Really nice game, too bad you didn't have time to put in the music
The only reason I couldn't enjoy this game was the controls. I have a QWERTZ keyboard where the Z and X keys are unconfortably placed and it's a bit hard to play this way. Other then that the game is really cool!
@neipo13 It really depends on which keys are not used for other things, but I'd prefer any button which are next to each other on all keyborards. Maybe somethng like JK, NM, or even space for shooting if W/UpArrow is used for jumping.
@neipo13 If it's not a big problem I'd suggest you include both arrows and WASD keys so everyone gets what they want  as for JK, they're next to each other, so that's good, I guess :P
Meybe I missed it but I didn't see anywhere that I have an option to jump, it'd be nice if you included it here on the gamepage.
Otherwise the game is pretty sweet just like that pineapple :3
Oh a snake game I haven't thought about that  shrinking the room is a nice twist.
If you're struggling with the theme then check out a streamer they usually come up with ideas together with the viewers when the jam starts and you can take one of those
Really creative idea I enjoyed it a lot
Nice game, but pulling the lever could be the same key I enter the next level with
Nice game it was fun playing with myself :joy: I'm guessing the theme comes in when the other player is describing the enemy. It doesn't have an effect on the gameplay, the people look too different for them to be hard to be distinguished.
Really nice game, but the boss is way too hard. With that basic laser there's no way I could beat it.
At first i thought I'm the bartender who's mad at the customers and I needed to throw a plate at anyone who comes in.
Then I realized plates are for drinks :P
Really nice game, but I have no clue how to progress, I collected memories, forgot what I've already collected and started overwriting them at random :P
Really fun game, but the controls are a bit hard for me. I think the sliding is unnecessary.
Really nice game but it's way too hard for me to fight enemies and collect blocks at the same time :/
I try to pick up stuff but as soon as I do, I die...
Cool idea but it defenetly needs some polish :/
The spinning camera made it hard to judge where the stuff are related to the tower, but with a little timing I could throw the stuff on the tower even before the heli arrived with it. I'm not sure how the theme fits the game, but it's not bad
I was lazy to mine so I just put my phone on the mouse :P
The music was great and the enemies were interesting. The game could be fun, but some things made it hard for me to fully enjoy it: The blender's sound effect could be heard from everywhere and they were loud. The map was oversized too and lacked content, I know you wanted to make it a bit longer but that's not the best way, at least I don't think it is. Maybe you could fix that by placing some stuff the player can collect and keep count of how many they got.
Also nice little reference in the opening cinematic
Watched the stream every day as I was making my own entry alongide. The stream and this game were both really entertaining
The destroying of the map is a nice little twist  it was just the right difficulty (at least for me)
Once I got the hang of it, the game become really enjoyable and great (and also really easy, but that's not the point :P) really nice game
My only complaint about the game is when the music changes (or at least I think it does) it overrides the volume settings and blasts at full volume.
The idea is really great! If you released a post-jam version with some polish and sound I could play it all day long
Interesting Idea. I got a couple hundred points just by going up :v
@mantou You're probably right, it is a little slow  I'll tweak it in the post-jam version.
@jharler I tried using the mouse and it made the game too easy. My friend suggested this aswell so I'll add it in the post-jam version as an option.
@mantou @jharler @divotionthebest thanks for the feedback guys, I'll make sure to play your games as well
@jackou thank you for the nice words  If you really enjoyed it that much, make sure to check out the post-jam version I'll upload later (I just need to collect some more opinions and see what you guys do and do not like). That said I'll make sure to include the arrow keys as an option too
@timbals I'm glad you liked it  i will make a post-jam version and trust me, it WILL have difficulty π
@shp Thanks for the heads-up i'll make it thicker and change to red when it's about to run out maybe that'll be better?
@alexey-akulovich The powerups on the screen are indeed a bug I'll make sure to fix that, but the border stays there, so the player cannot leave the screen and get lost
My game is similar to yours? That's not intentional i swear π
@noam I'm glad you liked it
Thank you guys for the feedback I'll go ahead and check out your games too
@kappa-b are you playing on a laptop? My friend tested it and he had the same results and sadly there's not much I can do about it right now. I'll fix it in the post jam version
@yscik interesting idea I'll see what I can do
@raccoon-js I'm glad you enjoyed it
@monstr well... git gud? just kidding I'll tweak it a little to make it easier
@dalton5000 @laytanl I added the mouse control into the post-jam version and I'll release it as soon as it's done
@jaydek I'm adding the mouse contol to the post-jam version. Green dots you say? That might be a good idea
Thank you guys for the feedback I'll make sure to play your games  (but only tomorrow it's 4AM here right now :P)
@ghostgoatsgames I'm glad you liked it
@chandymande I tied making the menu screen simple looks like i failed again :P The similarity wasn't intentional :D (int his game at least)
@jegus9 Yea i already tweaked the laser enemy and added mouse control, planning to release the post-jam version tomorrow... Also, I remember you from GodotJam  (well, I think i saw you there ) EDIT: it was The Heart Game Jam I recognize your game too
@fakefirefly maybe the mouse controls would be easy, but if it's too hard many people will just leave and give a low rating  the yellow ones are invincible anyway, so even if you reach them, nothing will happen :P
@sentmoraap I'm not going to do remappable controls but I'll defenetly keep the keyboard layouts in mind for my next game, thank you for mentioning it  I already hit roadblocks with the controls, the space key doesn't register when 2 arrow keys are pressed at the same time :/ I know about the dashing through the wall problem, I spent the second day teaking it, but I just can't get around to fix it
Thanks for the feedback guys, Imma go and play your games now
@acuriosity I know arrows for aiming would be better, but cheaper keyboards can't detect two arrow keys and the space being pressed down at the same time and I don't want to make a game that works for some people and for others don't. I hope you could still enjoy it
@gamepopper I thought about adding the gamepad as an option too, but I don't have one so I couldn't test it :frowning2: I'm glad you liked the manu it was a last minute implementation
@rk3omega The difficulty actually does scale both in normal and hardcore, but it does little by little and the enemies come fast from the start. I wished I could tweak the difficulty when I was making the game, but I had no time. In the post-jam version I didn't want to tweak it, because it got really easy with the mouse. I made the hardcore version intentionally that hard, for those who want a proper challange
@suchista I'm glad you liked it
@yamiog I didn't :P it's there for those who think it's too easy with the mouse
Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll go and play your games too
@kobrar the real "progression" is to get the highest score and combo you can. I wanted to implement an online scoreboard, but I haven't tried anything online related with the engine yet. The only thing combos change is whether the yellow enemies spawn or not. The enemies keep spawning faster regardless of combo. Missing your dash resets your combo because enemies come often and it would be easy to keep your combo high otherwise.
@kingdork I'm glad you liked it
@cliffracerx I'm happy you enjoyed it  I know it's difficult to dodge the lasers, but it's defenetly possible. It would be too easy to keep the combo up if missing the dash wouldn't reset it, so you either dash and reset the combo, or risk your life dodging normally
Thank you for leaving feedback I'll play your games too
Really cool game easy to play and fun
Looks really cool, but new boxes come a bit too fast for my liking
It was really cool I enjoyed it a lot :D
I only needed the engine, rotating and shooting system to complete it though (and sometimes the info system, if I was curious how much health does the boss have left) It's nice having all these options but you don't really need them :P
I couldn't beat any of the stages it's too hard :c
But I enjoyed killing the crab-like thingies >:D
I have a Hungarian QWERTZ keyboard but the game was still playable  my only complaint is that the music is FU*&@}] loud and I almost crap my pants when I opened the game :c
Interesting idea that could be an fun game, but for your first LD game it's not bad at all
the game is really hard and i always die right at the start.
I liked it a lot but my planet overpopulated before i could do anything interesting :P
Cool game but it's a little hard. If you're the only one who's testing it, make it easier, even if it becomes too easy for you, for other people it might be just the right difficulty  .
Really nice game but incredeble hard. The second level took me 13 tries  I can't imagine how hard the 3rd level would be...
But I still enjoey it a lot
Wow your game really is similar  I really enjoyed it, running around and shooting stuff, it's really simple and enjoyable.
However that said it was really easy. The player gets too fast (it does get faster right?) and the enemies drop too much eplosive ammunation which makes it incredebly easier. I suggest you either give less explosive ammo to the player, or don't kill off the enemies when you destroy the gateway they came from.
Or just leave it as it is, like I said it's really fun
Cool idea but it's way too hard for me :P (also the engine sound is a bit loud)
Pretty basic game but considering you didn't use a premade game engine it's pretty good
A quick note: I could play infinitely by jumping before the ground got destroyed and placed new blocks as I was flying. Maybe you could restrict the player from placing blocks when they're in the air, that would make it a lot harder :P
Great game, but it took me some time to understand where and why I can put stuff ( there's a lot of text and I'm too lazy to read :c )
It's a fun game but the motion blur is killing my PC :c
I'm gonna be honest, I liked the idea but the controls ruined it for me. The arrow keys should only be used for controling the player and the X button should be used for spinning them. What could be better also is that when you press the arrow keys instead of first turning the player then moving, it should turn and move at the same time.
Thore rockets were so rude always dropping in front of me >:c The audio was interesting I liked it a lot
The music gives a cool serious mood to the game and the art fits it aswell. For your first game it doesn't have too many bugs :P The size of the game is pretty big for a 2D game ( 650MB unzipped :eyes: )
This game is perfect
One time I got stuck in the air, little above the ground.
The game itself is a bit boring, but looks cool
Good game all around, but it's a bit hard to control the seep. Halfway through I left all of them behind and slalomed only one though the stage :stuck_out_tongue:
Awesome game, the original version is a bit hard and I liek that  in my opinion it has the right amount of difficulty and it's rewarding if you master the game.
I didn't know what to do and quickly got bored of it, but al teast it looks good
Cool game, a bit hard, but enjoyable
I'm not a big fan of text based games and it being a historical type of game doesn't help much for me :stuck_out_tongue:
The idea is nice, too bad you didn't have time to finish it :slight_frown:
The idea is good and it's easy to play through quickly good job
nice game too bad it's a Lemmings clone
Good game, but the music gets a bit annoying after a while.
Fun little game i liked it
This would be an awesome game with sound
The vertical controls are way to sensitive. I try to go between 2 pillars and the ship accelerates so fast, I instantly hit the sieleing or the floor.
I just ran to the marked spots and ragdolled to the ground when i reached them.
The game looks nice, but the gameplay is a bit lacking and boring. Let me know if I missed something.
Also, the intro should be skippable, it's annoyingly slow.
One of the best games in this jam i'm betting it'll be in the top 10 AT LEAST!
Really well done  the bunnies are a bit hard to control, but that's what makes the game challenging.
I really love 3D pixelart games and this is one of the best! very well done!
The game is well made overall, but I think the ending is a bit empty. I don't even know if I got a good or bad ending
This was awesome! If only it had more levels
This is a very interesting entry. If I had to guess the theme is interpeted as this: Your life is your own, and you choose how to SPEND it. I might be absolutely wrong, maybe the theme isn't interpeted as a whole, or not at all and i'm just overthinking this  Nontheless I like entries that go beyond the usual stabby-stab kill the bad theme.
Very, very fun  with some additional content, I can see this becoming an actual finished game!
Really fun game  My hand cramped after a lot of clicking but the game makes up for it
Well put together game, maybe it a bit hard, but still fun.
I honestly never would've though of making a farming game with this theme. Very intersing idea and nicely executed
Really well made game, great job!
The idea is a bit basic, but the execution is awesome! and to think that you used a custom C++ engine... very nice game
The game looks good, but the fighting is very tedious and clunky. On my first run I got the wand that shoots 3 fireballs. At close range it's a bit overpowered. The base spell is a bit underwhelming and if I don't time my attack exactly right, I WILL lose health. If the firing animation could be a tiny bit slower, that would make the fighting much better.
Really well made, but I have 2 minor things to note: The powerups are a bit strong, I sacrificed everything at the start and just kept clicking until the wave was over. It's really unpredictable if an enemy can hit me or not, I kept dying and I didn't know why.
I enjoyed this game A LOT!! The only issue I had was the blocking. I didn't read the instructions :stuck_out_tongue: but I accidentally discovered the timed block. I tried reproducing it, but the enemies are very unpredictable (for me at least) I'm not sure in what ways you could improve on it, but if you could, that would make this game excellent
A very well made game! It's solid overall, you should release it as a complete game!
The idea is very interesting. The instructions are a bit hard to understand, but I clicked around for a bit and quickly figured out how to play the game
@susumu-asaga With the bad ending, the player dies in his sleep, as a "payback" for the bad things he did. I know it should've been clarified at the end.
@hydezeke Yeah, we did struggle with how to implement the sins. Actually the worst one was Sloth and I still think it's pretty lame how we did it.
@lukvasando to the fighting win wasn't intentional at all, thanks for the heads up!
@hiro-e yeah... :slight_frown: but you didn't hit them that hard, they're just acting.
The controls were confusing at first, but after reading the instructions properly and trying I got the hang of it. Wish there were more levels and characters
I really enjoyed the atmosphere, but the gameplay not so much :slight_frown: I didn't know what to do and kept running out of oil for the lamp.
Not sure if it was intentional or it's something on my end, but the music was really crackly and was hard to listen to. Otherwise the game itself was simple but innovative in my opinion.
Looks, feels and plays good! Nice job!
Nice little game, didn't play it through and didn't read the story, but enjoyed it nontheless.
For some reason, I enjoyed this game so much, I don't even know how to put it into words. Simple, funny, challanging and entertaining. Very nice work!
The game was fun and easy to understand! I liked it a lot!
Really well made game and fun! While I don't mind playing with mouse only, it would be nice if you coulld at least move and attack with the keyboard.
The game looks really nice! Shame it doesn't have an objective.
A game well made! The option to skip a level is a really nice touch!
Nice game! Looks and feels good!
Great game! The only thing I would change is to destroy the boxes in 1-2 hits.
It would make the game a lot better if you could change the attack direction without moving and some stronger visual feedback when you take damage (like some screenshake). Other then that, it's a pretty nice game!
The game was nice, although the shells swearing felt more obnoxious than funny. Other than that, I liked it a lot!
Really awesome game! My only complaint is that all those turrets are unnecesssary. I stayed on one turret all the way without the need of jumping to another. Maybe if you had to protect the planet instead of yourself, or give the turrets limited ammo would make the switching mandatory and more interesting.
For the explanations, write them on the images with the program you're using, instead of handwriting. My eyesight isn't that bad but still had a bit of a problem reading the text. People don't like readling instructions, no matter how long or short they are, so making them easy to understand is a higher priority than making them look good.
Really nice game! As the others mentioned, at least some music and a refined input system would do wonders for this game.
Really cool game! My only complaint is the loud beeping when I have to go deeper.
Realy fun game! My only complaints is that it's a bit too long and the lack of audio. With the latter, the game could've been a 5 star for me.
I liked it a lot! It gets intense real fast.
I really, really, REALLY like this idea! This game is begging to be fleshed out and be released!
Really awesome game, but it's too hard for my smooth brain, so I couldn't finish it.π
I like the idea, but the game itself is not verz challenging. Mazbe moving enemies, or blockades at the wormhole would make it more interesting.
I like the game and I wish I could finish it, but the constant lag spikes were really nausiating so I had to stop :(
It's so stupid I love it π
Cool little game! One thing I would add is texture to the water, so you get a sense of in which direction, and how fast you're going.
I like this game A LOT! With some polish, this could be a really awesome auto battler. Also, I managed to create a never ending battle, both slimes just keep healing π gam.png
This could be a really good game, if the mushrooms and gems weren't hidden behind the rocks. The game could've had some strategic depth that way: decide the best route to pick up most of the stuff and get to the next level; but the way the game is right now, it's very much hit or miss.
The game look cool, but the gameplay is a bit lackluster. The movement could've been acceleration based, plus, if you had to avoid the both the walls and the fish, the game would've been more challenging and interesting. With some polish, it could be a decent mobile game.
I really like the looks and feels of the game, but the voiceover got a bit annoying for my taste π
Dig.
I REEEALY like sandbox games, so this was right up my alley! π The unsatisfying feeling that I can't win is so fustrating, in a good way! I liked it a lot!
Survival games are my favourite so I had a bit of fun with this one. Good game all around, only with there was more to do! π
When did such simple games get so scarce? I want more like this!
Ohhh Yesss gimme more of that Papers please vibe! <3
My only issue with the game is that you can't react in time for jumps and brains to collect, but that could be me being bad at games. π Other than that, I quite anjoyed it, turned out pretty good!
Audio was really glitchy and dithery in web version, played it on Firefox. The idea itself is interesting, but the theme was put in quite loosely in my opinion.
Short and fun, but quite anticlimactic. It could've been a minute or 2 longer in my opinion. :)
This game is awesome! Not much else I can say. π
With some more mechanics, I can see this as a succesful browser game!
Fun and short, it reminded me of Overlord
Simple and well executed! It's a shame you had to opt out of audio, the voicelines alone would've made it a 5/5 for me
This is basically a complete game  It just needs some polish and it's good to go!
This game is super nice, but is too complicated for me
Also you should make a web build if you can, post people prefer not to download anything.
While the theme is a bit of a stretch, I like this game a lot. Nice and short, perfect for a game jam
For some reason the cursor was dragging to the right, even if I haven't moved the mouse.
The stamina mechanic would need some tuning, every action uses way too much of it.
I can't really make any complaints about this game, it feels like a short, fully fledged, perfectly executed game. In the context of a gamejam, progression might be a bit slow (if you're as clumsy and impatient as me), but in general, it's a perfect game
The art is really good, but I couldn't figure out how to use the first ability, which I assume is tossing an ant XD
I also wandered off the map in the beginning, and looking at the minimap I as wondering, where am I supposed to go?
I don't have much to say about this one, I just loved it!
This game is basically done, it would just need 3-4 more titans and a bit of polish!
The only issue I had is, I could not figure out how to make the factories work.
Other than that, I like this game a lot, I'll definitely come back after the rating period is over and finish it!
Also please check your Ludum Dare link on Itch, I could not reach this page form there and had to manually fix the link.
@kernon @danoka Thanks for the feedback, I think I fixed it :sweat_smile:
I'll check out your games as well
Very cute artstyle, I like it a lot!
I was just standing around with 3 oreo upgrades and gave up thinking there is no end, then I saw other people's screenshots
I almost made it 1000m T_T
Very nice game, for how short it is, it's a lot of fun
faster.png
It a cute and nice little game, the things I would change is make the sound effects - especially the footsteps - a bit quieter, or give an option to manually change the volume; and the ranged enemy's bullets should not follow the player, instead they could shoot in a pattern to give more uses to the dash ability.
While I didn't even come close to finish the game, I really liked it! The idea to make everything dark was really clever, it hides the imperfections of the game very well. If the floor tiles got a bit more details (the ones the player walks on) and the background of the scene in Unity was set to black, I don't think I would've noticed anything wrong with the graphics (except the attack indicators, but I understand those are placeholders)
The sprint/dash ability made me laugh out load the first time I used it!
Look may be deceiving, the graphics are simple, but the game itself is very fun!
There's potential in this game both from a fun perspective, as well as having educational value.
It's a bit slow paced for me to play all the way through it, but I think it's a very nice concept!
I think the descriptions for a jam are a bit too verbose, but this is just my personal preference, as I'm not into text based games that much. Also some commands could've had some alternate versions, like battle -> attack and fight.
This could be a really nice horror game if expanded. Being a small gremlin running around the house, causing chaos is fun
Very simple game with a great artsyle and plently of polish, great job!
I don't think the music fits, but the game is great! I liked the general vibe of it.
I really liked this one! This just needs some polish and juice, and it's good to go
The only thing needs changing is the speed - the game in general is really slow.
I could see this idea being further developed as the player being a gardener, who protects a big vegetable from incoming worms, and using the collected worms as currency for upgrades.
It's pretty fun but a little hard for me, I missed most of the hearts :D An other think that bothered me a bit was that the 'tunes I played' were off sync with the music. It's not that big of a deal, but it would be a nice touch if it was in sync.
Good idea, wished it looked just a tiny bit better :D
Looks really cool I really like the graphics :D
Awesome game, but a bit short.
Interesting concept, don't have anyone to play this with, but it looks cool :D
It was really buggy and I couldn't really play it :/ many times when the texbox appeared, I tried to klick and either it vanished and also shot the ball at the lowest strengh possible, or the shooting indicator got stuck and I couldn't shoot at all.
I like the idea and the game looks really good.
Looks really good. I died on the first stag, but the game looks really well made :D
I loved this game, but damn it's hard :D the controls took me a little time to get used to and the weapon's durability is really low, it takes way too much work for 2-3 swings, but I do get it that it needs to be hard.
@Tay @Pixelome Sorry, I forgot to write in the description that it's meant to be played fullscreen, that way all text is readable.
Interesting, a little hard for me, but still a nice game :)
This game is really awesome :D i didn't play it all the way through (I died early on), but I really enjoyed it.
Pretty good game, played around with it for a while. My only complaint is that the game is really lagy.
Cool little game I actually played around with it for a while. I really enjojed it.
The game looks very nice :D
Fun and good looking game, but gets pretty boring pretty soon (which is not a problem LD games are meant to be played for a little while :D)
The game is really cool and all, but it's REALLY HARD to control and that took most of the fun out of it for me. Despite that I still gave it a pretty good rating.
