Awesome and very juicy visuals as always! After severals deaths I've made it to the two weeks but didn't earn enough money.
Is there a system how to plant to maximize revenue (something like rules in classic "game of life") or the plans die/fruit randomly? It could be fun to know there is such a system and trying to figure it out. Maybe there is, I'll have to try it again :)
Anyway, great work man!
@jiri-hysek Thanks! Of course there is a system in place for the plants and funny that you mention Game of Life since that is the exact ruleset that is in play here (unless I somehow managed to botch the simple "algorithm").
@antti-haavikko I thought so! Now I have to play it again to check it out and experiment with it a little :)
Wowza. I didn't know it was possible to completely recreate stardew valley from scratch in 48 hours :D I really enjoyed it! From the email drama between your parents down to the whoosh-whoosh particle effects when fertilizing. Nice work!
The animations are really juiced up! Reading through the emails and messages was pretty fun, too. Great work.

I'm very impressed by how every element in the game has a purpose and polish on top, it shows experience and blends into an enjoyable loop. The gameplay is fun, the story interesting, and the overall aesthetic seems to have a lot of heart put into it, which translated into me feeling like a happy bloody farmer! Nice game!

This is a stellar game. The way you used color to handle health was great! The emails were a super cool feature. I'm incredibly impressed you were able to do so much. I love the animations and I really got in to it. Definitely in my top 3 games so far.
The amount of polish is insane. It is awesome to see what people can do in such a short time.
This was awesome, loved the animations and the amount of polish is insane. Great job.
Great game! 5 stars across the board. I found that at max you can plant 4 seeds, if you can eat a fruit before sleeping. However I only got about half way to the goal of $300. The amount of crops dying seemed to happen quite randomly, but it was often more than 5 per day. So it was difficulty to maintain a large crop field. I also found one bug; if you press space by the pc, you can then walk to the table and space to eat appears. So probably disable movement when in a selection menu.
Amazing amount of work to get done! Blown away by this, awesome!

Wonderful job on that game feel. Fits the theme well. Good job!

what an incredibly involved game! a lot packed into this, with the world behind the computer screen in addition to your garden. i couldn't figure out how to stop my plants withering but i enjoyed the pretty art and sound :)
@mika-la-grand @kyavi The plants actually follow the rules of **Game of Life**. That moving thing when on computer isn't really a bug. I was aware of it but decided to only disable moving when the speech bubble had a selection in it. Lets just think that is computer has voice commands  Thanks for playing!
Great work! Awesome screen transitions and overall polish.
This one is very well polish, animation, sound, graphics and theme is very well fitted ! There are some of details and features (shop, mail/story etc...). I think it's my favorite and one of the best ! Awesome work !

Hey awsome animation and graphics!
I did notice the text being a little blurry and could always clearly see it. For eg: Screen Shot 2019-04-30 at 5.05.31 PM.png
Also, initially i died right after the first day, and had to refresh the page as the game was not restarting: Screen Shot 2019-04-30 at 5.06.11 PM.png
I really really enjoyed the fact that you programmed in the game of life with the plants!! Super cool work!

The concept is funny and fits with the theme. The sounds, animations, transitions are very juicy. A lot of good work even if I found the game a little bit repetitive.
There's not that much to do, but it's suprisingly quite fun nonetheless. I especially love how clearly you explain how the game works in gameplay, instead of with huge piles of text. Also really cool graphics (:

Awsome game! the news feed is so creepy ^^
Feels very polished. Gameplay was fun, but like some people have mentioned, it might get a little repetitive after a while.

As others said, very polished little game. My plants kept dying off for some off reason, maybe bad rng, so I died. T.T
@samuli Not RNG, Game of Life

Loved the fact the color faded when I spent blood. All the emails and information on the computer added some realism. The emails made me chuckle. While the gameplay was repetitive I really wanted to be able to pay my rent and I finally got there. Good job.
I loved the juicy feeling of the game made it feel more complete. I wanna thank you for not making the player have to wait a long time exiting doors/eating/sleeping it felt so fast and made me wanna keep playing more

I loved the graphics, it was great to see how the colors changed when you were losing blood. I also liked the music, it was really nice!
This was an interesting game. First thought was how much I liked the colour scheme you used, it's a rather unusual combination that really works with your art style, so kudos for having some great graphics. The general presentation and user-interface were both clean and easy to read which is always a plus. I also enjoyed your screen transition animations, they helped bookend each game day nicely.
I had a little bit of trouble getting to grips with your game's mechanics, maybe it was just something I wasn't quite understanding, but I did die several times trying to figure it out and am still a little confused as to how I could sustain my income. The fertiliser also seemed very inconsistent as to where I could and couldn't place it. Perhaps there was a bug, or maybe I just missed something?
I think you've done a great job of using the theme to come up with an interesting concept, and you certainly have a good eye for striking game visuals and good UI design. I didn't encounter any bugs either so you've probably got your coding ability nailed too. Nice entry, thank you for sharing it with me.
@historymaker118 Thanks for playing and leaving feedback!
You can use fertilizer only on the 10x10 grid in about the middle of the screen but not on places that are grass already (since it converts blank ground to grass). The plants grow and die following the rules of **Game of Life**. As a hindsight, maybe I should have actually told about it somewhere and even have the rules there.
So the death mechanic goes like this. You pretty much have 4 health and lose one every time you plant. If you eat and sleep, your health is restored back to max. But if you've planted more than 4 times, it will not heal you and you die instead on that night.
I honestly never would've though of making a farming game with this theme. Very intersing idea and nicely executed

Played the html5 version. It's really really good, though I failed to reach $300 in two weeks. It's really incredible what you could do in two days. It feels really "juicy", the text, the sounds, the movement, the effects when you plant stuff. And you even had the time to add all those little emails! If I had something to criticize, it would be the outside background looks a bit off. Maybe it's the fences or the perspective of the house or the bushes, I don't really know. Apart from that, I didn't know that the plants followed the game of life rules, so they just kept dying and I thought it was random. Anyways, incredible job!

Hi pal,
Very good game you have here, and in compo !
I liked the ambiance, the graphics of course, the feel (UI, juice, etc).
Special mention to the ambiance: harming ourselves being the main interaction we have to win the game, plus the whole backstory that unfolds if we're curious enough on the web is really a good idea. What you do here is very clever: you are neither telling nor showing us a story but rather making us doing it (by having us harming ourselves), thus you create a very cool implication for us in the story, as small and vague as it is. Nice work.
Some ways for improvement:
- your sound effects were a bit too high pitched for me
And that's about it, for a compo game, very nicely done.
Please check out our game about robots that has to be fixed: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/life-corp
See ya.
Very polished! I like the idea a lot. I thought there was a pattern to how the plants kept dying off or thriving, but gave up trying to figure it out haha
I really wish the day end and start transition animation was faster, the black boxes from the top and bottom bouncing got old really fast, especially if you're replaying the game to try and find out the pattern for the plants.
Liked all the little details you put in, like the emails! Good job! :herb:
Really nice, I loved the jokes you left in the emails. PS: No toasters :p
Great game here, and lots of polish. Juicy -- maybe too juicy, but you kids these days love the juice.
Had fun trying to suss out the rules for plant living/dying. Played a few times, never quite managed to pay rent for the first couple of weeks but I have an itch to go back and try again and see if I can make it happen.
Liked exploring and seeing what I could find with to interact. The computer browsing was nicely done.

Love the polish, especially that screen transition effect and sound. Got a little confused at first thinking I was supposed to just hit the bushes with the fruit on them and not seeing anything drop when I hit them, but I was able to figure out where to go after a little bit. Perhaps an indicator such as the planting area starting to glow once you're able to plant something would work to clear it up.
The computer was really cool, and aside from what I mentioned, it all plays great. The sound effects are nice and give perfect feedback to your actions, and the visual effects as you lose more blood help spice things up.
The need to balance between keeping enough blood to survive and growing your crop makes for a fun and interesting mechanic. I enjoyed playing a lot.
Here's how I did after a few tries (haven't been able to win yet :p)

Amazing UX juiceness, from the UI elements tweening animations to their sfx feedback, even the walk animation is juicy and pleasant.
There's a lack of ambience sfx to distinguish from an indoor scene (the house) to an outdoor scene (the farm), like wind, tree leaves shaking, and the footsteps change to something like stepping over the grass while on the farm and over plywood while inside the house.
It was a frustrating when my plants died, but once I figured out how they worked I felt very accomplished. Nice double (at least) use of the theme. The concept of a farming simulator where the plants simulate is odd or interesting ways is really cool. The graphics and tweening were very nice (as always).
When I went to close the game (WebGL) it froze my computer, but it may have just been too much game for my laptop. ^_^
I noticed the player could still walk while using the computer, which while consistent with the other dialogue where it made more sense, didn't feel right. Overall great job, I really liked this.
