You should really invest in some background music, it would make the game feel better.
I think you should keep the front and back rows clear because the player doesn't know where they are going to warp out to and wouldn't know to place a bomb to hit the other side of the loop.
Would love to see some music and sound effects next time, opengameart is a great source and you don’t have to participate in the sound category but it’ll add to the overall experience of playing the game. Nice job for your first submission though, you did it!
Yaaaay bevy!
Nice work, I would love to know how you packed the assets into the exe, but I'l ask on discord.
Whoa,
Continuation of the bomber man :)
I like it!
You should definetly add [wasd] for controls, and i think movement is a little funny, probably because of acceleration. Also background music would be cool!
The animations in the menu and in the game look good. The controls feel a bit weird, it seems like it's dropping input sometimes. Regarding the game, it's a bit frustrating when loot is unreachable because a block spawned after it appeared, but it's a great idea otherwise. A music would have really improved the experience but i know the struggles of adding sounds when using a custom engine. Very nice for a first jam !
Oh, and I get these in the console if it can help you : "Failed to parse SPIR-V code: UnsupportedBuiltIn(4)" "Shader will not be validated", 4 times each when launching the game.
Nice bomber man vibes. Some sound effects could have been nice of course.
I like the grid-based movement. It works well for a game like this. Collecting items for points is always fun. The art was good but some sound would really help improve the experience.
I liked your game my congratulations, I also did one if you want to know, and give me your feedback I am very grateful, this is the link https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/resurrection
Liked the arcade vibes I get from the game. Movement is a bit clunky, but other than that very nice!
Nice ide, need music and sfx, and maybe more natural movement. But I really like it and have alot of fun
Booooombs. I understand the need to limit movement per turn but the flow felt off with the fire moving smoothly and our character wobbling
Movement is janky and could use sound, but the gameplay is nice.
As a huge fan of Bomberman-style mechanics I was excited to try this out and it did not disappoint. I really dug the idea of the race against time, balancing the need to pick up powerups early on so you can blast your way through further in. Even without sound I really got that sense of urgency. Others have already mentioned the movement rate limit and perhaps the idea of keeping the edge columns clear so you are not surprised when you are not able to wrap around, but otherwise I really had a great time. Thanks for sharing!
I really enjoyed this. Great work on the upgrades and pacing of difficulty. Audio would make it feel 100 times better. Good work on some of the art.
Liked the game, great work and effort.
I liked it. Really appreciate the gradual difficulty increase! Movement feels like buttons don't work half the time, I'd prefer some kind of input buffering for that. Crates with more hitpoints can be mistaken for unbreakable so an indication for damage would be nice (like the crate getting darker).
What an incredible game! I loved it, great job
Really nice game! As the others mentioned, at least some music and a refined input system would do wonders for this game.
Quite a nice bomberman-alike, I actually really liked the idea of treating the game map as one looping "tape" between left and right (but forcing the player to go one way). I think music and SFX would have made the game more impactful, but the gameplay loop was pretty solid.
