LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Grab Your Nutz by Budaniel 2020-10-09T03:25:19Z

Nice, I liked how the branches work and the sounds the squirrel would make. It was very difficult. I am amazed someone got 57. The birds feel random, an audio/visual cue would be helpful.

Great work on the title screen!

Dante Slumbers by Jimbly 2020-10-09T04:02:03Z

Nice! I beat all 7 levels and got decent scores. Great work, I don't really have anything to complain about. The leaderboard was a great addition and kept me wanting to retry.

Orbit by nopogo 2020-10-06T08:11:58Z

You guys did great with atmosphere. I felt urgency as I explored and looked for the different parts. I was able to get the ignition key and power the ship, but I could not escape. Maybe I missed something. Anyway, great work!

The Daytona 666 by piscythe 2020-10-07T09:35:57Z

I also had resolution issues, but I am currently using a 4k display which could be why. Great work on the enemy design and the colors. The projectiles were challenging and I liked how varied the enemies are.

Event Horizon by Bejaro 2020-10-07T07:48:12Z

The music set the mode very well and the graphics were great for the game. I found myself retrying the game until I won, I may even come back to this to try and beat it with higher health. Would definately come back if it had more levels, have you ever though of adding an upgrade system? I think it would go well with the game.

Vanishing Woods by cdunham 2020-10-07T09:23:01Z

Wave 1 is a bit too hard. It took several attempts to kill the 3 zombies. I would give the player 5-10 seconds to situate themselves and play with the controls. Once I got the sniper, it got way easier. I would also shrink the attack range. It is easy to get stuck and destroyed in seconds. I would add a particle effect to the note at the end of each round, and show a text overlay with the control to activate it.

Good effort!

The Turning Point by zaibakk 2020-10-07T10:09:05Z

Good effort! The resolution was a bit blurry for me.

Loophole by Laurari 2020-10-06T08:44:24Z

The highest I got was 30! Some of the patterns came out of nowhere and got me haha.

I like the music and I think it would be cool to make the patterns spawn to the beat of the music. Great work!

A Really Bad Day by Shyrro 2020-10-07T09:51:21Z

Great work! I love the title screen art. I was able to beat it on my third attempt. It was interesting to see how the character changed based on the choices in the beginning. However, it would've been neat to make some more decisions, but great job with the time you had!

A Really Bad Day by Shyrro 2020-10-07T10:05:51Z

@shyrro I followed you on itch.io and I look forward to it! Good luck :)

Just another Day by Jeremia 2020-10-07T07:31:46Z

I liked it, the puzzles didnt feel all that challenging as I ended up finding the notes and completing it on the second try. The game fits with the them and if there were more to do then I would definately play again.

Meltdown Countdown by LukeDJ 2020-10-07T07:19:07Z

Game looks great, sets a good mood and I even avoided a meltdown with one second to spare. This game truly had me on the edge of my seat. The puzzles were fun and enjoyable and it fit well with the theme.

Waves Industrial by Wolfier 2020-10-06T08:36:23Z

Nice work, I love resource and crafting games.

At first I didn't know the control pop ups where tutorials. I thought they were apart of the map. Once I figured that out I was able to start building and collecting resources. I had to do some guesswork to figure out the machines. Great work putting this together.

walk. by tutoa 2020-10-09T04:18:19Z

The painted style is really nice. I love the use of blue colors, makes it feel really cold. Sad ending. It would've been neat to see a longer version with some visual storytelling. Great work!

Upsilon by beeguy 2020-10-07T09:58:56Z

I think you did great with the mechanics. I am glad you implemented a teleport/checkpoint feature with the portals. I got stuck on the second box area. I threw the box in the spikes and I could not pick it back up. You have a knack for progression design, I think you should keep experimenting with ideas for a game like this.

Temporarium by Eden Shazar 2020-10-07T10:14:51Z

Great work on the art style! I got pretty far I think, but I agree some more visual cues would've been helpful. I love the concept and find it very interesting. I gave you a follow on itch.io. I look forward to a potential update. Good luck!

Keep moving and nobody burns by Vleue 2020-10-09T03:32:57Z

I really enjoyed this. Great work on the upgrades and pacing of difficulty. Audio would make it feel 100 times better. Good work on some of the art.

Resurrection by etrealjunior 2020-10-07T10:26:31Z

Great work on the art and audio. I wasn't sure if I died in one hit or not. It seems like there is invisible health. I would add some visual cue for damage if that is the case. I also think it would be better if the difficulty start easier and ramped up as players get their bearings. Great job!

Project R.O.O.M by Arad HamidSamiee 2020-10-07T09:29:12Z

You nailed the creepy atmosphere. Great work on the art, especially the CRT effect. The questions were cool.

Escape The Space Vortex by FloGames 2020-10-06T08:53:06Z

Neat idea. I liked the zoom out effect and the use of the particles for the vortex. The highest score I got was 20. I found that I didn't need to use CTRL to progress. Space was enough. I recommend changing the enter key to 'Space' so its easier to jump back into the game.

FIND THE LOOP by MiraKazumi 2020-10-09T04:13:36Z

Great work on the art! I didn't realize I could double jump for a while. I got stuck in a corner on the 3rd or 4th area and could not escape. The gravity idea is interesting.

Ayy Leon: An Eggistential Crisis by Corrupt Spaghetti 2020-10-09T04:09:12Z

The art style is cool. I can't make it to the city or the forest, kept getting hit by the bus. Great job!

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-07T09:44:43Z

Fun! Great job with the level titles and matching them with the gameplay. I enjoy games that layers new mechanics. I enjoyed the speed boost in level 3, but I keep exploding on the 4th carrot. The speed in the first 2 levels could be faster.

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-07T10:04:13Z

@jamster haha yeah, I play a lot of games so I guess it was easier for me. I can see how the controls can be difficult for newer players. If you smooth out the physics, it could make it more fluid. One thing that would've helped greatly is a shadow on the hamster. With a shadow it would be easier to line it up with the doorways. That may increase the success rate of players.

I think you did great with progression of the mechanics.

Gold Mine And Infamy by yellowsalamander 2020-10-06T08:20:29Z

I love the pixel art and audio. I like how it picks up speed. I think the explosions could be a bit bigger, I found that I shot them on accident consistently. When I tried to use them, they didn't do very much. Occasionally I was able to take out a few with one. I like the variety of enemies. The screenshake was a nice effect. Great job!

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-06T08:46:35Z

@jrevel Thanks! I want to add more. We ended up focusing more on the level design and squeezing in the shops at the end.

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-06T16:31:01Z

@rysae Yes, we accidently added a "hard" mode. When the game loops at the end, the timeline stays the same and all the enemies from every time spawn in. Though, I think we would need more enemy and dungeon variation to make this fun! thanks.

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-06T16:34:36Z

@alarianngames Thanks, I spent a lot of time of the weapon shooting. There is a giant zombooger at the end that explodes into smaller ones as you shoot it.

1. Yes, this was a problem I was trying to fix. I was using Unity and trying to sync the Update() and FixedUpdate() with the camera. Once I plugged in Cinemachine, it started getting jittery. I tried a variety of things, but decided to focus on mechanics after spending more time then I would like to admit. I plan on returning to this specific issue post compo.

2. I agree, I had fun with audio and I need more!

3. Yeah, my brother helped out with level design and it was his first game jam. He is only 14. I think he did great. However, I think if we spent more time making places look unique, it would have been more memorable. A minimap and compass idea would be neat as well.

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-06T16:37:03Z

@gemberkoekje I agree with it feeling too long. We need more variation with the time decay and maybe some simple puzzles to go along with it. I think dungeon, gun, enemy variation would also help a lot.

Thanks, I plan to return to this project post-compo and update it :)

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-07T10:22:03Z

@wolfier Thanks for the extensive feedback! I really appreciate it :)

I see, there is a base knockback for enemies, but maybe that needs to be increased and then the upgrade does a bit more.

The knockback for the gun seems to be something people like. I found that people use it to get around the level faster in the later parts of the game, but it may be too intense to have all the time. Maybe we could add more weapon types and have one of them be a gravity or highly explosive gun for travel.

I agree, I think it would make more sense if they were in large hordes and easier to kill. I am interested to see how enemy variations change this.

I definitely think a map would be good. Maybe tie it in with the aging mechanic as well.

Good point! I can probably add some better pathfinding and obstacle avoidance to make them move naturally around each other.

Yeah, for the coins, I wanted to remove the collider. With how I was doing it, I wanted them to explode and bounce a bit. Need to spend more time polishing this.

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-07T10:27:28Z

@etrealjunior left feedback on your game.

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-07T10:29:36Z

@minibetrayal Thanks for the feedback! I really want to experiment with a variety of enemy designs. It is definitely lacking. I will probably do an enemy update post compo and see if I can also enhance enemy pathfinding.

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-07T10:31:03Z

@marbles @etrealjunior I saw it several times as well. It's okay to ask for feedback, but I would make sure you do the same for others.

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-07T10:35:21Z

@cinar Thanks, I will add some screen shake and some other visual cues for the damage. I missed that part.

Chrono Crack by rschoellgen 2020-10-15T17:47:59Z

@thales-guimaraes Thanks, we are working on adding more enemy types in our post-jam game on itch.io.

@clemonades I appreciate it. Our artist has a very unique art style :)

@raz3ll Thank you. We enjoyed implementing the weapon upgrades as a secondary objective. We want to improve this further. We are going to make the dungeon more interesting to explore as well. Right now, we feel it gets tedious.

@cdunham I agree, we are implementing new enemy types that have different tactics and health values. We are planning on tweaking the combat a bit more so it is interesting. We have no plans for weapon types yet, but we will consider this. We are redesigning the dungeon so its not one giant linear path. This should make it more manageable and interesting to explore, however we are looking into some kind of indicator or map feature.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Camp Demise by rschoellgen 2022-04-06T02:43:32Z

@waysneighborgo2 thank you!

@uzpykes I actually tried multiple monsters at one point and it was pretty intense. I wanted to explore that more. I think that is a good idea. Perhaps they run away from the light then lurk behind you when it's dark again. Thanks for the feedback.

Against the Dying of the Light by Celtican 2022-04-06T03:19:32Z

Awesome work! I destroyed an entire forest to save my son. I really loved the exploration aspect to the game. The fact that I had to find an axe to chop down a tree in order to build a bridge to find a radio was pretty cool. There was a good amount of tension as well. Great work on the audio and art. Extra points for writing dialogue and letting the player choose the name of the father and son :)

It would've been cool to see the rangers show up in person before cutting to the dialogue, but that is a minor detail.

Catocalypse by Neshtyak 2022-04-06T03:38:34Z

Nice work on the art and cat noises :) I enjoyed the cinematic. Cute game!

I don't think I was able to repair anything. Is there a way to repair broken furniture, or can you only repair things before they break? I was mostly trying to figure out what spell works best for each cat. I think it would've been cool if each cat showed an emoticon after applying a spell to them.

Jailbound Joyride by AmberFall92 2022-04-06T03:43:53Z

The cops doing wheelies made me laugh. Great stuff xD The game feels really smooth. The tape can be hard to get if you keep smashing cops with jump. I had a lot of fun!

Defy Godwin by ivysly 2022-04-06T03:31:26Z

Fantastic idea for 'delay the inevitable' :)

The game picked up fast and I found myself frantically skim reading the posts. I really enjoyed the different chat group themes and the writing for each. It's really punishing if you don't immediately slap someone, or maybe I just need to git gud.

Bath Time by benjamm 2022-04-06T03:49:22Z

haha I love the idea of avoiding as scrubbin'. Great work! I think a trail color / material would make it easier to see where the edge is on the path. Overall, I thought the environment was well made.

Time's... Up! by Waysneighborgo2 2022-04-06T02:55:35Z

Great job on your first game jam submission :)

I think the jump + dash could be more powerful. I tried to use it to get over some of the double spike traps but died. This may just be personal preference, but I think dash could be on another button like 'shift' or 'E'. I kept tapping space to jump. I've seen some games use W and space to trigger jump.
