Johnny Lootem's Going Loopy! by Mr_Field 2020-10-16T16:24:27Z
I absolutely loved this game. Controls were great, and the sound design an music fit perfectly. I'll probably play more of this game in the future lol

I absolutely loved this game. Controls were great, and the sound design an music fit perfectly. I'll probably play more of this game in the future lol
Fun game. The resolution is a little too zoomed in, but it was still fun to play
Fun little puzzle game. The puzzles were challenging enough to where it took me a little bit of time to solve them, but not too difficult to be frustrating. Unique way of implementing the theme.
Fun little game. It was fun trying to figure out the best route through each level. Very neat concept! here's my best times LD47 crystal racer scores 10-21-20.png
This game's aesthetic fits really well with the gameplay. I love the backgrounds
Neat game. I liked the mixed-media artstyle
Really fun game. The boss is kinda hard to find when it spawns. I really enjoyed this one.
I really liked the art and music. The character has a bit too much acceleration on the map, but the world was fun to explore.
I was kinda confused about how the astronauts and ammo worked because I didn't read the tutorial images, but after I figured that out the game became very engaging. Nice mix of a pong-type game and a space shooter. My high score was 7800. Will probably play more lol
I got stuck at the part with the magnet and the towel holder thing. Pretty neat game though
I liked the music and the look. I'm not sure how the game relates to the theme though.
There's a surprising amount of levels for being made in just a weekend. Kept me engaged the whole way through
Really funny game. The music really sells the chaotic atmosphere. Once I figured out you could loop to the other end of the screen and how you can get the cat stuck on the table, I started doing a lot better. My highest score was 28.
It's kinda hard to see what's below you due to how the camera is positioned
One of the funniest games I've seen this jam
@fawnblue You didn't miss anything. I just ran out of time before being able to add them
One of the best games I've played from this jam. I beat the game in 8 days. Each of the puzzles had a beautiful aha moment when I finally figured them out.
I played for over an hour and am probably going to play more later. Nice!
I really liked the music, and the art was pretty good too. My only criticism would be that the placement mechanics are a bit unintuitive at first. I think it might be a bit easier to understand if the player places the fort onto the tile they're hovering over rather than the tile they're currently standing on. Really neat idea though!
This game has such strong vibes
I really liked this game! I was able to get to wave 19 before it crashed.
Some notes: Sometimes the human enemies are stuck behind trees and can't be clicked on. Sometimes the menu gets stuck on the buy screen. A nice quality of life feature could be the ability to queue up actions while the game is paused like in many other RTS games as well as hotkeys for various actions.
Overall great game though!
Really fun! I don't type very quickly, so I appreciate the slow ramp up in difficulty. The strategy of choosing which words to type when they start piling up adds a lot of depth. My high score is currently 93.
This game has such strong atmosphere (pun possibly intended)! I really like the music and the funny faces on the planets. The gameplay is really unique, too! I'd love to see a full game with this concept.
Wow! Such a unique twist on word games. It's amazing what people can do over the course of a weekend.
Fun game! I feel like this idea could work well as an infinite runner-type game with increasing difficulty and a score based on how long the player survives or how far they get. Either that or a more dynamic difficulty system.
Really like how chaotic it gets toward the end. I ended up scoring 421. My only feedback for improvement would be adding a windowed mode. Fun game!
This game has strong He-Man/She-Ra vibes
Really cool concept and aesthetic! My only note for improvement would be that it's kinda hard to brake your momentum mid-jump.
Unique and challenging! I love the low-poly artstyle and the risk-reward dynamic from choosing when to deposit your bananas.
I really liked this one! The dialogue is funny and the voice acting was a nice touch.
My only note would be that the current windows download is a WebGL build and not an executable.
Neat game! I really like the pixel art and going between the 2 worlds is a neat idea.
Some notes: It can be a bit difficult to tell how the dash move works at first. If I understand correctly, the player needs to first hold a direction, then hit Shift to dash. It might be a bit more intuitive if pressing Shift makes the player dash in the direction they're facing even if no direction is being held.
Overall fun game though.
Interesting idea. It's a bit laggy at times, especially when restarting after a gameover.
Really fun game! The leaderboard is a really nice addition. I managed to make it to #3!
Legmans Breakout1.jpg
Fun game! I really liked the character designs.
some notes: One nice quality of life feature would be the ability to hold the attack button down to continuously swing the sword. That way the player wouldn't have to mash as much.
Other than that, I really liked this one!
What a unique idea! This game is both challenging and funny. I especially like the multiple difficulty modes.
Really fun and unique game! I love the sort of country vibes the music gives. The snakes being able to eat each other adds a lot of strategy.
Some notes: The camera movement is a bit odd. Adding WASD as an alternate control scheme would be nice.
Good game though, especially for a first jam game.
Fun game! The idea of mini chess puzzles is really unique. I especially liked how the pawn promotes into a queen if you get it to the edge of the board.
Here's my high score: tactical ghosts1.png
This is such a well-polished game! I especially love the music. Really fun too!
I really liked the graphics on the enemies. The strategy element of baiting the enemies to attack the turrets is a neat idea. This could easily work as a full game with maybe some upgrades and a scoring system.
Love the concept and artstyle!
My only real constructive feedback would be that the mouse is a bit sensitive.
Really neat idea! I also really liked the artstyle.
Some notes: The gameplay is fun, but it's pretty easy. You can easily get 3 or more screens ahead. I also ran into a bug in the 1.1 version. Bario got to the princess on screen 6 and didn't trigger a Game Over.
With some difficulty tweaks, this could be a really fun game.
@silurus Nice! In a future version I'm planning on fixing the obstacle spawning so that the plates/bowls won't always be the second obstacle.
@kuviman Nice score! Thanks for checking it out on stream! :D
Cool game! I really liked the polygonal artstyle. The whole evading a big ship thing kinda reminds me of Sinistar (which is a good thing!)
Cute game!
My only note for improvement is that the game can go on forever because of how easy it is to repair and defend the final object. Maybe making it so the game is over when there's only one object left instead of zero left could fix this issue.
I really liked the lighting and particles. Also, playing as a slime is pretty cool!
Some notes: It can be a bit hard to judge jumps due to the perspective. An orthographic view could maybe help with that. Also, the green shooting obstacles sometimes kill the player and sometimes don't, and it's hard to tell why.
I did like this game though. It has a lot of potential!
Fun game! It was pretty challenging until I figured out a good strategy for the barriers.
Really unique concept! The level design was especially good, having a nice balance between puzzles and exploration.
Fun game! The chaos really fits with the theme.
Some notes: The -4 score penalty feels a little too high. It makes it really hard to get a non-negative score. Also, the yellow and green trains are a bit difficult to tell apart for colorblind people.
I quite liked this one though.
Cool idea! I liked the music. The mouse sensitivity is a bit high
Fun game! I love how spooky it is. Kinda reminds me of Eversion or Monster Party (which is a good thing!)
Really nice aesthetic and artstyle!
It can be a little hard to stay on the platform though.
Great game! The dynamic between choosing when to pick up batteries and when to leave them adds a fun element of strategy. I like how you can't kill the zombies and how that adds to the survival theme.
Here's my high score: zombonk1.png
This game is really relatable. The conversations with green were especially heartbreaking. I also liked the Tokyo Ghoul references!
For things that could be improved, maybe the text box could be a line or 2 bigger. That way the player wouldn't have to push buttons to advance the text as often.
Fun game! I love how crunchy and satisfying the sound effects are.
My only feedback for improvement would be that the cursor can be a bit hard to see sometimes.
Short but sweet. Nice puzzles and music! It would be nice to have the option to use WASD for controls, but overall pretty good.
cute and challenging!
I really like the music and vibes this game gives off, like a puzzle game on an alien planet.
I got stuck on what I'm guessing was the last level (the one with the 3 boxes that need to go all the way up the screen). It feels like the player needs inhumanly fast mashing skills to meet the time limit. I found that you can use both hands with WASD and arrows to go faster, which helped. I also understand the theme is 10 seconds lol
Overall really good though!
edit: It was actually the second to last level. I was able to beat it in the updated version
Neat idea. There's a lot of waiting though
Fun game! The gun is very satisfying to shoot.
Fun and challenging! There's a nice balance between the cooldown on the refresh button and how quick the trains pile up.
Rolling a shop with not enough crowbars or too many can be a little frustrating. One nice change might be allowing the player to always have access to the crowbar on a cooldown.
Altogether great game!
I really like the idea of this game. Feels like it would be a fun physical board game without the time limit. It's a but buggy, with some cards (like the Draw 2 card) seemingly not working.
Overall solid idea!
The look and sound of the game are both very well done. Not being able to see anything most of the time is kinda frustrating though.
I love the artstyle! It reminds me a lot of H.R.Geiger. The blue powerups can be a little hard to get in time, but other than that it's really good!
This game has a really nice concept and aesthetic. It's especially fun to dash past enemies and slice them with the katanas!
@mikouaji Looks like I should have tested the WebGL version more! That sound effect seems to be bugged on the WebGL version for all browsers.
@jk5000 After testing on a couple of different computers, that bug (as well as a few others) seem to be computer-specfic for the WebGL version, and I'm still trying to figure out what's causing them.
The Windows version has (thankfully) been stable on all 3 systems I've tested it on.
Thanks to everyone for all the kind words and feedback!
Fun game! Reminds me of a lot of those classic upgrade flash games. I like the variety of powerups
The green and yellow fruits can be hard to tell apart for colorblind people. Very nice music and artstyle though
It was a little frustrating at first, but there was a certain point when the puzzle just kinda clicked for me and became very engaging to solve. Good job!
Funny description and unique concept. Kinda janky, but most of the bugs I noticed seem to be fixed in the updated version.
Sometimes it was a little hard to tell what was going on when the player was invisible. Overall fun game though
Fun game! I really like the vaporwave windows aesthetic. I guess great minds think alike!
The lock picking was both fun and challenging (a rarity for lock picking minigames). Nice music and fun concept!
Very fun and unique game! It would be nice to have a button to exit the game during gameplay
With some more polish, this could be a great game! It would be cool if the player could go through the hole in the front of the train to sneak around the enemies.
It's amazing to see how far ai tools have improved over the past couple of years. My only feedback would be that the text is a little small.
Really fun game! Nice artstyle and concept.
Really neat idea! The mouse sensitivity is a bit high for me and the motion blur is a bit much. Otherwise pretty cool game
Neat idea! The text boxes stay on the screen for quite a bit longer than necessary, though.
Flinging the packages is really fun! I got around 200 points before quitting. It feels like the difficulty doesn't ramp up quickly enough, but overall fun game!
@quinnster Thank you for checking out the game! I've managed to recreate the issue on a different PC and have released a version that fixes the bug.
@weirdbitgames Thanks! I also adore weird little physics-based games!
@gamescodedogs Thank you for the feedback! In the current patch, I've added rounded corners to the big boxes and platforms to prevent the player from sticking to them.
@mushgunax To win a level, both the player and the box have to be near the mailbox, so unfortunately no lol
@ty-victorson Yeah, I didn't notice how easy flying on the boxes still was lmao. A full version would definitely have to fix that!
Thanks for playing!
@gardenovena Thanks for the feedback! You're right in how physics libraries act in unexpected ways in contexts like this. I reluctantly ended up using physics-based movement because anything else was breaking the hinge joints in the arm. In the future I'll probably have to study up on how Unity's physics work rather than just slapping things together lol
Wow! Such a new and refreshing take on tower defense games. Love the overall vibes an aesthetic
Fun game! I like how the rare fish have different yet similar silhouettes to the common ones. Encourages the player pay close attention
Definitely one of my favorite games from this jam! The gunplay and character designs are great. With some better graphics and some checkpoints, this could be a really good game.
Really fun game! Kinda reminds me of old flash games (in a good way). The weapons are fun to use, and the sound design is great. The window is a little small, but that's not a particularly big issue
Very fun and cute little game! One thing I'd recommend would be to have the grabbing be a click and drag system (where letting go of the mouse button drops the item), or maybe have an option for that style.
I like the tunny moonwalking rats. The gnomes feel a little more powerful than the flamingos despite the cost difference. One nice quality of life feature could be adding a speed up button. Overall a fun game concept
The bubble and coin sounds are really satisfying!
Fun little strategy game! I really liked the tiny sprites for the cards.
Very well-designed puzzle game! The solutions are intuitive, and the difficulty curve is really well-done. The music is great but maybe a bit too loud.
Fun little game with great atmosphere! I think it might be cool if the character got different abilities when it reaches different sizes, like maybe breaking blocks or a stomp attack.
A lot of fun! The last level provided a good challenge
@trsthstrs thx! I wanted to add animations but ran out of time. Having the creatures run around is actually a really good idea and something I hadn't considered :D
Very unique idea! I'd love to see what exists outside the door. I had a bit of trouble figuring out why the microwave wouldn't cook packets when the bug tank was full. Some kind of tooltip may be helpful for that. Overall a really impressive game, especially the graphics and atmosphere.
Fun little game! The random faces and funny sound effects are a nice touch
Neat game! It's a bit difficult to get a sense of scale as the player character grows due to the abrupt change in camera zoom. It may be more effective to smoothly lerp between levels of camera zoom.
Really fun little shooter! 2 suggestions: a game over screen that tells the player their score, and maybe the bombs could be full screen clears since the current range is kinda short.
