There seems to be some kind of game breaking bug, as the movement is so fast that I clip out of the map as soon as I press any movement button. Hope that gets resolved because the game looks interesting!

@quinnster Thank you for checking out the game! I've managed to recreate the issue on a different PC and have released a version that fixes the bug.

Funny prototype. The character sometimes gets stuck on the corners of large cubes and cannot be moved anywhere. At the same time, he can move them himself with his hand. Probably, it is worth prohibiting the ability to move large cubes, because this brings chaos to the gameplay))

My game was briefly called "Goblin Postal Service" at one point hehe! This is a really cool concept, I love the alien tentacle-arm mechanics! Physics-based games are the best, especially when they're wonky or broken! The music was good and the visuals are bright and eye-catching. Nice one!

Interesting concept. Some of the controls were a little finnicky but good start and framework for a fun puzzle game.

A strange creature in a strange game. Physics work well enough. I was able to get past the first level, then got stuck. Unusual mechanics and game-play — you did well in Innovation. Music fits the ambiance.

@weirdbitgames Thanks! I also adore weird little physics-based games!

@gamescodedogs Thank you for the feedback! In the current patch, I've added rounded corners to the big boxes and platforms to prevent the player from sticking to them.

Cool game! Really unique arm interaction and clever.

interpixel 2023-05-18 19:46

pretty good core mechanic, probably needs more depth to warrant further game time

ava-skoog 2023-05-18 21:00

Pretty cool! Felt a little clunky but it worked and it was fun finessing the arm around to get things working. Music was a bit repetitive but fine, and did fit the alien æsthetic. Bunch of sound effects could've been cool. Overall just lacks a bit of polish and a lot more levels but I enjoyed it!

vitaslayer 2023-05-18 21:22

It's a good puzzle game concept with an interesting mechanic. I would like to have more levels.

julienlussiez 2023-05-19 10:21

Nice concept, I'm not sure if it was intended but I was able to lift myself, very funny though.

jean-francois 2023-05-19 10:37

Intresting but the controls are clunky. Just lacks a bit of polish !

mushgunax 2023-05-19 19:30

I wonder if you can throw the package hard enough to the delivery point to instantly win a level.

ty-victorson 2023-05-19 19:33

I kinda cheated a bit by levitating myself with the blocks but like other have mentioned the game needs a bit more polishing and it will be really solid!

dender46 2023-05-19 19:35

Awesome game, really felt the mood of alien and the theme. Grabbing mechanic is very interestingly implemented. I wish there were more levels, but overall it is great :)

corrupt-spaghetti 2023-05-19 19:38

@mushgunax To win a level, both the player and the box have to be near the mailbox, so unfortunately no lol

@ty-victorson Yeah, I didn't notice how easy flying on the boxes still was lmao. A full version would definitely have to fix that!

Thanks for playing!

gardenovena 2023-05-19 19:43

Omigosh, this was super charming, I loved this cute little guy and his squiggly arm! Through rain, snow, lack of a skeletal structure, or hail, he'll deliver your mail! 🤣 Anywho...

I really liked this short experience. The physics def needed polish, the slow acceleration made jumping tough. I liked the music, it would be nice if it persisted rather than restart each level, so I could hear more of the track :)

I had a lot of fun trying to balance the package on the guy's head and hopping around 😊

Very fun and cute, thank you!

I absolutely love the idea for this. With some more content and a little refinement this could be a really great full on game. The character controller was decent, good for a jam. It did feel a little clunky that you could only pick things up from the centre, particularly the long boxes. Even in the limited amount of levels you made, it's quite effective at demonstrating the different puzzle/platforming challenges that you can do with this idea. I also found a cool speed running tech lol - quickly dropping the box in the air to jump off of and then pick it up, wasn't very good at it but playing the game normally was fun enough. I wish there could have been some sound effects for things like jumping and collisions for the box just to help with the immersion, and graphics could have been better but I don't think the visuals are bad how they are.

Overall I think this is a great entry, good job!

gardenovena 2023-05-19 19:58

Oh—I just asked my dev teammate for what advice he had to make the movement while jumping feel better. He said the problem is that the horizontal velocity isn't being added when the character is in the air. He also says to beware of physics libraries, if you used one, they tend to emulate real-world physics rather than what feels good in games. Not sure if this helps, thanks again for this cute game!

corrupt-spaghetti 2023-05-19 20:35

@gardenovena Thanks for the feedback! You're right in how physics libraries act in unexpected ways in contexts like this. I reluctantly ended up using physics-based movement because anything else was breaking the hinge joints in the arm. In the future I'll probably have to study up on how Unity's physics work rather than just slapping things together lol
