Really good concept, it was really fun to play the game! The second level was harsh, but still fun, I would have played some more with pleasure. If I had to point out one thing that I feel mixed about is the movement based on the cursor, as it prevent the player to use left/right clicks in one direction and to move in another one, which breaks a bit the dynamism of the game. But it didn't prevent the experience from being pretty enjoyable over all, very good job from your team!

I found out that leaving the humans in the vacuum of space was the best strategy to stop worrying about the planet explosion. I don't know if this is the intended way to play, but it was very satisfying to discover this emergent mechanics. =D

Kudos for the tutorial! It explains very well the rules and mechanics, and is pretty fun to follow.

The game can be quite hard (if you play it "by the rules" :p), but has a balance interesting enough to encourage looking for smart way to manage resources. I wish movement was a tad faster, or felt more dynamic, but it would be hard to do so without breaking the game design. Overall, I had a good time on it!

Also the music is banger. Well done!

Nice game, took a few tries to finish. Loved the tutorial, very clear and funny. The music was fun, the sound effect very fitting. I liked that planets had eyes :D. Had to get used to movement. Itooh mentions leaving people in space, I have to add that lighting them in red color discouraged me from that. I assumed they would die if left in space for long.

@mrpouletbzh @itooh @labete Thanks for your feedback and nice comments :)

Regarding the player movement and controls in general, I'm not fully satisfied by it either. I've struggled with several different combinations of control and movement parameters. My attempts at keyboard controls didn't feel great to use either. The current state is the less confusing one I could come up with for the jam ^^

Regarding leaving people in space, indeed, it's not intended :) There initially was a 5 seconds timer after which the humans would die if left in space. I didn't have time to implement it as I wanted, however, so I eventually removed it, but left the red blinking. I'm glad that it can still discourage some players to do it :D

Very fun idea. Good tutorial too. Controls are a bit difficult to get hang of but with a little work doable. SOund and music fits as well. Good job. Very nice entry.

*Humans are safe... for now.*

Nice game! I agree with my fellow breton compatriot @mrpouletbzh that the controls are not perfect. I don't know what could be a better control scheme though.

I've played with the "intended" strategy: not letting people wait in space make the game harder, but I've managed to barely win first try, so I guess the balancing of the game is good.

I feel that the tutorial text is to slow, maybe you could add something to let the player choose to skip to the next line instead of having a fixed duration?

And you should add some screenshot of the game on this page, in my experience, people are most likely to play your game if they see some pictures of it.

Good job on this one, and you made a pretty cool music!

eeaann9044 2022-04-10 14:00

I like the concept and the gameplay a lot. Although they're were only 2 levels, i think the difficulty change from level 1 to 2 made up for that, so that wasn't much of a problem. One thing is that the tutorial is a tad bit long winded and could probably be executed without a few lines or the ability to skip lines.

bellatrion 2022-04-10 14:04

@cedric86 Thanks ! :)

@chocolat-endive @eeaann9044 Thanks ! Indeed, it would feel better if the player could speed up the text or skip lines. If I make a cleaner version, I'll try to implement that.

@chocolat-endive You're right, I've totally neglected the game page, thanks for reminding me ! I'll add some :)

slecornu 2022-04-10 15:49

This game is really atmospheric, it reminded me of an indy game i played from net yaroze 20 years ago. I also really enjoyed the music. Good job!

weewsa 2022-04-10 15:53

Very cool. I feel completely immersed in the game. I would like to see more levels.

necdilzor 2022-04-15 14:58

Very good game, excellent tutorial and the levels were tight!

100th-coin 2022-04-16 00:52

The tutorial is incredibly slow. I think allowing the player to advance text at their own pace is MUCH more preferred over waiting for the cutscene to advance its self. The tutorial would only take about a minute, but the forced cutscene makes it feel like five. I like the faces on the planets, and the variety of them in the last level. Cool game!

oroshix 2022-04-18 09:59

The tutorial was clear, but very very slow, and allowing to skip the text would really improve it. The mood is very good. Jumping from the tutorial to the levels was like jumping from a bath of ice to a living fire in a matter of seconds, I was not ready xD I did not manage the 1st level, and I was indeed discouraged from leaving the humans in space by the red lights. Nice concept, I really liked it.

lilkrit 2022-04-18 10:02

Very nice entry. The graphics and audio are cool. The message is depressing, but true. And the mechanics are alright. The only thing I didn't like is that I couldn't speed up the tutorial messages. But for such a short time constraint, that's a lot of content!

temposparkz 2022-04-18 10:03

the game feels alright to control however i noticed you could just leave the humans floating in space then put them on the right planet which i guess really is not the right way to do it but it does work however had to restart the browser when that failed since there is no restart button in game. either way was fun to play and would diffidently play the game again if there was a post jam version (:

phoenix-fireflower 2022-04-18 10:18

Both the music and sound effects are great and it was both fun and a bit funny saving those dying planets.

As for the controls, I think it would've been better if there was an option to hold one key or button down that would stop you from moving, so you can shoot without getting closer. Or maybe an option to shoot in the opposite direction you're facing. But those are just my ideas.

codeforjoycaro 2022-04-18 11:08

I like the experimental game mechanics, the smooth audio and the humor.

bellatrion 2022-04-18 11:18

@slecornu @weewsa @necdilzor @100th-coin @oroshix @lilkrit @temposparkz @phoenix-fireflower @codeforjoycaro Thanks all for your feedback ! :)

@temposparkz So humans fell beyond the playable area ? If that's what happened, indeed, I hadn't thought about this case, sorry for the lack of restart '^^

@phoenix-fireflower Thanks for your controls suggestions !

Nice idea. It had a lot of charm to it and you got some cool things done in the weekend. The main issue I had was that the music (no matter how cool it was) would cut out on a constant basis that I sadly had to mute the tab so it wasn't distracting. Good job overall!

quinn-patrick 2022-04-18 14:36

I like how original the gameplay is, and the music is cool and stylish. I also like the variety in the funny looking planets. My biggest complaint is how difficult it is. From the very first level, shuttling the humans from one planet to another one at a time isn't even close to a viable strategy. Like other commenters have said, slinging them into the void and then hoping they don't drift too far is the only way I could find to get past the first level. There are also issues related to inputs getting stuck if the mouse buttons are released while the cursor is outside the game window (this was on the HTML version). The tutorial is really helpful, though, so overall I liked it. Good job.

corrupt-spaghetti 2022-04-18 15:55

This game has such strong atmosphere (pun possibly intended)! I really like the music and the funny faces on the planets. The gameplay is really unique, too! I'd love to see a full game with this concept.

zimny11 2022-04-18 16:45

Nice game. Well polished and the music fits the game really well. I wish it was longer. Good job!

alphish 2022-04-19 15:30

That was a nice little entry; didn't see much of environmental messages here, despite them working well in this context (I know it's them humans who keep lighting the fuse! Give them some more thousand years, and the next planet will be on fuse again!).

The tutorial explained things well, but it spent really long time on certain messages; I'd rather have the ability to advance to the next message instead. Also, I feel WSAD + mouse controls would work better than mouse alone, since right now using the powers - especially the fuse-blowing ones - interrupts the movement. The game still worked pretty nicely, and I sorta wished it had more levels - with proper level designs, there's lot of opportunity to strategise (possibly with some extra gameplay mechanics). The audiovisuals were cute, especially these noises.

It's just regrettable that there doesn't seem to be a selfie mechanic at the end of tutorial. I guess I'll need to settle on approaching the human for posing...
