LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Eschaton, Dark Forest of the by Tygrak 2022-04-04T08:21:49Z

I really like the music and sound effects! The audio and the dark forest together create a nice mood. Maybe you could fade-out the music at the end of the track, so the looping gets a bit smoother?

The levels/gameplay is quite nice and challenging. I succeded in the first couple levels, but then failed multiple times on one of the harder ones and gave up.

Carpentangle by Jimbly 2022-04-16T15:38:03Z

This game is amazing! I really like that you have to manage both the leaks and the "storage" simultaneously. Graphics and interactions are very well polished! I guess some width-8 leaks could help removing large blobs in the "storage", and therefore making the game a bit easier. (I must admin, i didn't got very far, place #28 on the score board, so maybe there are leaks this large.)

gArbaGE cRuSHeR by hgcummings 2022-04-09T16:32:15Z

Funny game! Poor robots... We survived 79 seconds. I'm not sure, if our work delayed the inevidable. Maybe a bit more feedback, e.g. the sound of the machine changing, would help.

Wildfire by Gildar76 2022-04-09T09:07:23Z

Nice game! I like the graphics of the trees and the fire truck. I nearly succeeded, but then suddenly the flames spread a lot. (: Loosing was probably inevidable... What's the effect of the water bombing? I used it multiple times, but never saw an effect. I would love the option to drive backwards.

BLACK HOLE DEMISE by fraanns 2022-04-04T17:56:18Z

I had quite some fun playing the game and enjoyed figuring out how to get through the level. Nice game!

I fell through the ground once, right after the first checkpoint, but a reset to the checkpoint helped, so this wasn't an issue. Resetting to the checkpoints seems to reset the black hole progress. Also not an issue, but i'm not sure if this was intended.

It took me 9 minutes and a couple of retries to get back up (:

Do It Later by BauBau 2022-04-08T18:23:24Z

Funny game! I manged to complete everything, but i nearly gave up on "What is the book talking about?". The input is case-sensitive! It took me some time for me figure that out.

Last of the Sky Folk by Ian Kettlewell 2022-04-16T16:07:24Z

Nice game! I like both the game idea and the graphics style. It feels a bit like Tomb Raider actually ^^ I manged to get to the top. I guess you could increase the movement speed a bit, as running compared to grappling isn't very effective at the moment.

Life of a Mosquito by Cary Stanley 2022-04-09T09:24:34Z

One of the funniest entries i played so far! Really nice gameplay and some depth to discover. I don't feel its to easy, but i also did not discover the "safe spots" others mentioned. I would agree, that more campers don't make it harder, maybe even easier. Maybe they could start to work together and attack from different directions at the same time?

Papper by GeneralSturgeon 2022-04-07T18:15:04Z

I really like the game and the simplicity of the idea! I guess this would be nice as a mobile game.

Save the Garden by owlkward 2022-04-17T21:46:21Z

I manged to reach 3800 points before the weeds took over. Glad that happend before my mouse broke down ^^ I really like the graphics. Well done!

RoadTripStress by SirJamesD 2022-04-07T18:04:27Z

Congratulations for finishing Ludum Dare! I like the idea of the game and the challenge is interesting. I didn't manged to travel far with the familiy. I guess, if you polish the different parts a bit it will grown into a nice game.

Chess? by dreamscale 2022-04-04T08:39:55Z

I really like the idea! It is nice to play.

I would love a way to predict how the Jack (knight-movement) changes its direction. I believe this would enable more planning.

I tried a couple of times and lasted until turn 17 in my best run (:

RM: Rescue Man by Angrybeard 2022-04-16T18:44:35Z

Funny game! The last level is actually really challenging, but i did it (after a lot of retries). I think gameplay-wise the game is quite polished. More levels would be great of course.

Track Switching by sinus 2022-04-09T08:35:22Z

@jimbly Wow, looks like you are really good at the game! (:

I need to ask: Have you played with mouse/touch or with the keyboard? I would like to know which input method leads to such a good score.

You are correct, there could be more options on routing the trains. I mean there are some options, e.g. you can route the trains from the upper-most track down and then up again, but not really different strategies. I thought about adding signals, but did not have time for that.

The game always spawns trains that can reach their correct destination without crashing with any other trains, assuming that you always route the trains perfectly with the shortest available route. I feel making a fatal mistake at some point is actually inevitable :P I guess, if there would be the possibility to loose just because there wasn't any guaranteed solution, then the game would feel a bit pointless.

You will fall by adobobo 2022-04-17T14:10:01Z

The crashing is very well done, both sound and visuals. I like how funny it is, even though it means you just lost. ^^ Good job with the game!

Battery Buisness by Smoofy 2022-04-10T12:35:31Z

Good job! Playing the game is quite fun. The graphics fit very well into the rest of the game. Sometimes the bolts spawn in or very near to the robot, so you can't evade them. Maybe you could improve by only spawning blots with some distance to the player. I also used Scratch to make games a couple of years ago. Nice to see someone using it to make jam entries!

Extinguished by elimarable 2022-04-17T07:49:28Z

Wow, thats actually a very intense game! I guess i did quite good, until i had to collect 68 gems and no tiles spawned. I fought the best i could. The music and the bluriness when you step into the mold makes it really intense.

I'm not sure if it is intententional that no tiles spawned at some point, but either way, definitly keep it. You could however add some lighting that is active from time to time (or light at some locations).

IRS: Infinite Record Sorter by Bogden 2022-04-04T08:51:24Z

Nice graphics and humor!

What does the "inspection" every 60 seconds mean? I could not figure out, if nothing happens or if i missed something.

(I did not have any of the reported problems with flying characters.)

LD54 — Limited Space

Cybermaze by notime4games 2023-10-18T20:59:57Z

That's a nice game! Definitely a very good prototype you could continue working on. I can already see players drawing the map on a piece of paper to help solve some more difficult levels (;

Rabbit Hole Run: Don't Lose Your Head! by ryusui 2023-10-18T16:57:36Z

That's a quite fun game! How would have expected that you can make a game where loosing your head is part of the progression ^^ Definitly a nice plot twist. I guess some sign or arrow showing me that i should walk into the axe would be helpful.

I played the web version and hadn't had major performance issues.

quarosel by unless games 2023-10-19T22:17:27Z

Very interesting mechanic, and very good executed! I like the details of the breaking arrow when you are hit by a ball.

I noticed a small pause / lag in the game when i shot my arrow for the first time and when i manage to cut of some parts for the first time.

Push Away by fraanns 2023-10-18T20:31:25Z

Nice job, solid game! Figuring out how to solve the puzzles felt good. I agree with the previous feedback that the later levels could be more difficult.

Voidonaut by Jonathan Lorenz 2023-10-19T17:12:50Z

I agree, don't be to hard to yourself. The game is fun! There is music and sound, and some progression with the enemies moving faster over time. You did a good job.

I noticed that sometimes no more enemies spawn, but you have to wait and idle a bit until you can finish the level.

[ Space ] by Whirlwind 2023-10-18T20:16:20Z

Good job! I like how you keep it interesting even when the core gameplay is to press [space]. Finding out what the tools do was definitly part of the fun for me. It would rather try to improve the icons than to add a textual explanation, if at all.

Bug's Museum of Fine Art by kristinamay 2023-10-16T20:35:53Z

Thank you for this lovely and cute game! The idea is great and i think you executed it quite well. I did not have any technical problems and managed to paint some good and some mediocre paintings (;

The relaxing athmosphere is well supported by the music. I guess one tiny improvement would be to reduce the break in the music when navigating through the pages, maybe by automatically starting the current track where you left of.

I didn't achive good scores for paitings where the color palette wasn't matching my needs. Nonetheless i like that you provide a fixed palette and don't allow free color choice. With some more testing and user feedback you will probably find more balanced palettes, e.g. i would love a second reddish color for improving my drawing of _Margaret of Austria_.

Legendary Doomguy by luddegodofpain 2023-10-18T16:31:22Z

Pretty fun game! With the dash and two weapons the game definitly has more depth than one might expected at first glance.

I didn't managed to resize the game using the web version and fullscreen.

johto by bliny-lynx 2023-10-19T21:51:00Z

Nice game! I played the web version without any problems. I really like the beep-sound and warning icon when a near plane enters the air space. This and the dashed flight path makes the game very intuitive.

It was difficult for me to grasp what distances are considered a near miss or a warning. Maybe you could visualize those somehow?

The difficulty didn't really increased a long time and then suddenly there where planes everywhere ^^

Traffic Tangle by WouterK12 2023-10-18T19:55:16Z

Good job! I agree that the choice of a 3D world adds immersion. This balances out the slower core gameplay. It would be perfect if you could come up with something to add to the core gameplay using the additional dimension. I guess this means moving something up or down, maybe a car elevator?

Claustrazombia by TheMaydayMan 2023-10-18T16:16:56Z

Nice entry! I like that there are three completely different tools, i.e. sword, bow and dash, and you need to combine all three to succeed.

Some better control of the bow would be nice and would help with the difficulty ramp up.

YOOBD by Ch48 2023-10-19T22:03:37Z

Amazing job! The melee combat is very well designed: it is balanced, well supported by sound and graphics, and interesting.

Hunted by Maria Pleshko 2023-10-16T21:10:01Z

I just tried to play the web version you linked, but after reading through the intro and starting level one none of my keystrokes seem to do anything or are not registered. I tried the spacebar and the up/down arrow keys as described in the rules section. Am i doing it wrong?

The graphics of the intro are amazing! Good job drawing those. You surely could create some nice visual novel games.
