I wish I could award bonus points for using Godot. The only thing I would add to the previous comments is that the bow felt kind of useless, because it's really difficult to aim. It felt like the hitbox for the blob being hit by the arrow and the hitbox for me being hit by the blob were different. I don't know any solutions to that other than increasing the size of the hitbox of the arrow, which could lead to it's own problems. And maybe that's just me. But the bombs were fun and more than enough to get through the level. All in all definitely a nice litte game jam game :D
Linux user here. I got it to run as well, after installing Blender 2.79 and specifically starting the .blend file with the blenderplayer. I had the same issues as Beard or Die. Now look, I love blender as much as the next guy. Hell, I even compile the latest version myself almost daily. But the blender game engine was scrapped for a reason. Maybe try a different game engine next time. If you still want to make the whole game in blender take a look at armory3d (never tried it, but looks promising), which I think acts like an addon for blender and take a look at UPBGE, which is based on the old blender game engine. Other than that maybe try Godot, which is also open source. Seemed like it could be a cool game though =)
Really weird game, but I definitely liked the atmosphere it was creating.
This was really fun :D Something like an "endless waves" mode would have been a nice addition, but depending on how you spawned the enemies that would have probably been a bit much for a game jam.
Just a suggestion, based on a hunch: It felt like you were using the rigid body mechanics of unity for the movement, which is nice if you want to use realistic physics, but in games like this it is usually more fun if you use kinematic motions (you can set the rigid body to kinematic). That way it feels like the character is reacting faster to the player input. Still a fun game though =)
This game is amazing! Also, I loved the voice overs and the fact that you left some mistakes in there (or intentionally put them there) made it even funnier. It's really cool how awesome you feel by the end just reaping hundreds of souls :D First game to get a perfect score from me
Great game! We once tried to make a mostly text based game for a game jam and it was a whole lot of work to make it interesting, so I'm impressed you pulled it of so well :D
Sadly couldn't get it to run with wine on Linux (i can start it and the music plays but everything's black) and I don't have Windows or Mac.
Nice game, i feel like the difficulty ramps up too quickly for the clunky controls (I don't mean clunky in a negative way here, because I think that was on purpose and I actually enjoyed figuring out the controls and realizing that all the actions queue up), but you explained your reasons for that already.
So yeah, I had a fun 10 minutes with it (not in one run though xD)
Also I feel like something went wrong with the screen size, because I see this in the normal browser window: Screenshot_2022-04-17_20-59-08.png
And this when I put the browser in fullscreen mode (by pressing f11): Screenshot_2022-04-17_20-59-25.png
I'm using firefox, haven't tried it in other browsers, but it's nothing game breaking anyway, since every thing relevant to play the game is visible. just in case you care =)
Oh and I found it to see another garden game, because we also went with the "care for plants and everything dies slowly" idea, but ended up with a very different game, which was cool to see :D
First of all: I REALLY liked the game and the idea of it. But to be honest at the end I didn't really read a lot of the text, because it was appearing and deleting so slow, that I spaced out waiting for the text. I feel like making the text appear faster, but making the next message not based on a timer but a trigger one can press when finished reading would make the whole experience better.
It just does not make sense for an AI to type this slow
Also some of the tech stuff (like why the hell does the bandwidth usage cause memory to get deleted) sounds just really weird to a programmer and it threw me off a bit.
Again an AI should know better than that.
There were some typos, too, but since you wrote a lot of text I can totally understand those slipping through and that's just part of it being a jam game =)
I also had the crash, but relatively close to the beginning and after clearing the cookies it worked perfectly fine and that was also pretty okay for a jam game (I mean it's almost impossible to produce a bug free game in any time frame let alone in 72 hours).
Still, if the crash happened later, I probably wouldn't have tried it again, because of the speed of the text.
But again, I really liked the idea and the vibe you were going for!
