It took me 3 attempts and 40 seconds. The models and shaders look really nice and put together. This was a fun little game, nice job!

inflamedgums 2020-04-22 07:40

@mrchippy that's actually pretty good ;) glad you enjoyed it, and thanks for the feedback!

ohfiddlediddle 2020-04-22 07:51

This is such a funny idea for a game, I'm jealous I didn't think of it. Not gonna lie, I didn't make it to the ocean but I gave it a fair few cracks, those snakes are just too quick haha. Well done, keep up the amazing work.

kogyblack 2020-04-22 08:08

Funny game haha At first I didn't get the objective, then I decided to just follow the wall and no snakes were there haha

I think it would be a better fit to do a stealth game (I think it was more of a keep running game). Camera control with mouse would be good, I couldn't see the snakes around me.

Since you're a team and you're using an engine I would suggest working a bit more on the game design and what could be interesting and challenging.

Keep doing it and improving :D

@OhFiddleDiddle thanks a lot, glad you liked it :D the original idea was inspired by this bbc-documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3OjfK0t1XM

@kogyblack thanks for your feedback, glad you had fun :D The idea of turning it into a stealth game is actually pretty interesting! Atm, the game is meant to be played with a bit of a speedrun mindset, hence the timer at the top of the screen.

Very nice entry! A good ambiance is there. I like this concept. Thank you!

maksd777 2020-04-23 16:05

i like how u make water. game is hard. snek(nope-rope) are rly fast. i like sneaks. idea from documentary it rly smart

piturnah 2020-04-23 16:06

Very awesome game. A lot of fun. The biggest issue for me was snakes from behind that I felt it was unreasonable to have to predict, since the player can't move the camera independantly from the lizard. Very funny run animation

thebeka 2020-04-23 16:11

lol the documentary :D game captured the vibe 99%. that 1% if bc this iguana had easyer time then I did. very fun game

riccastudio 2020-04-23 16:12

I instantly clicked on the game because of the documentary i saw a year and a half ago. I really like the Idea and the basics of the game, but there are a few problems: - You cant really escape the snakes with jumping or outrunning - You can just follow the wall to win - The game is very laggy on my pc and i have good specs - i had to start the game several times, because it crashed the first few...

But those are no deal breakers. Great try!

patrickjr 2020-04-23 16:18

The game looks cool and the concept is funny. I like it.

Maybe I'm just bad, but I think the game is too hard. The camera should be more zoomed out and further from the iguana so you can see the snakes better. The percent of energy isn't nearly enough to run away from the snakes.

Good job

louspirit 2020-04-23 17:17

I got the ref with the cover image, so I clicked! And it is nice to see how it is really alike the vid!

mharring 2020-04-25 17:33

Great idea! I found it a little too challenging though. It felt as though your jump / run didn't last long enough to get away.

oillen 2020-04-25 19:16

In regard to mood & theme this lovely lizard is a winner - I used to love snakes till I played this :snake: :crossed_swords: . Sadly I got quickly the r i g h t (hint hint) way to get into the ocean ... looking forward for the next episode "the swimming Iguanothon", subnautica will be nothing in comparison ;)

joemid 2020-04-25 22:03

The controls are very slippery, the iguana doesn't have enough jump or speed percentage, and the snakes are too fast- in other words, a perfect representation of a real predator/prey relationship!

I think this is is a wonderful jam game. I don't know the last game that had me cringing on the edge of my seat and hanging onto the keyboard like this. I went right down the center.

iguana1.jpg

The snakes are terrifying.

iguana2.jpg

Even when I just went back to check out this right side exploit (or survival of the fittest route, who can say) I was still sure so conservative- certain that a snake was gonna pop out and end me- phew.

Also, pleased to play a 3d godot game! Thanks so much for the game!

jk5000 2020-04-26 18:30

The idea is fun, but the snakes is really fast, and I was never able to get near the sea. But I still had fun trying to get to the sea. Overall a fun little jam game.

artur-hawkwing 2020-04-26 20:55

Nice game, I liked the stamina meter--it rally forced you to strategize a bit. I would have loved gto ahve a few more levels, but overall great job!

xart2012 2020-04-30 09:31

right side had no snakes at all, but on straight way too much snakes! )

ausstein 2020-04-30 09:38

I instantly knew this was inspired by the BBC Earth Documentation when I saw the picture.

This game needs one thing: David Attenborough Comentary.

"A near miracoulus Escape" once you get to the water.

Or the opening statement "The snakes eyes aren't really good, so if the hatchling stays still it might avoid detection" could be the tutorial for this game.

I don't know if you were worried about coppyright, but I think that would have fallen under fair use. (I'm no lawyer tho)

The gameplay was quite cool, but short. And I would have loved if you included some gameplay from the "escape the snake coiling" part.

I rewatched the documentary to prepare while this game downloaded. It didn't help. I'm not a very good iguanodon.

I really like the concept, and the art is nice! The mechanics are a bit lacking though. And I'm not really sure how to win the game to be honest. Is it just finding a path without any snakes near? I can't seem to escape from them like in an action game, they don't seem to move along paths (or at all) like in stealth games.

PS: Love the game name, haha.

danthegreat 2020-05-03 05:17

Great idea and lots of fun to play! I kept trying to use the mouse to steer, which was a little annoying, but in some ways good because it made it harder to see snakes sneaking up behind you (added an aspect of realism). Nice work! (Bonus points for the Linux release and using Godot + Blender + Gimp-- they're my tools of choice too.)

benjamin-nielsen 2020-05-12 03:59

Really makes you FEEL like a lizard. 10/10
