Neat concept! As mentioned by others, the keyboard controls are difficult and the camera feels a little too close to the player. Could make for a good educational game, well done!

Neat concept! As mentioned by others, the keyboard controls are difficult and the camera feels a little too close to the player. Could make for a good educational game, well done!
Fun game! Needs a way to restart when you lose. Reasonably difficult, it took me a few tries to beat it but felt satisfying when I did. Nicely done!
Well done! Challenging but once you got the hang of the controls it was very satisfying. The animated scenery makes it feel very alive and spooky.
The art atmosphere is great here. I enjoyed the music, but it didn't seem to fit the mood of the game. I found it quite challenging, partially because you had to drop your current item to pick up another instead of just swapping them, which led me to die a few times. I also couldn't get the D-PAD to work on my PS4 controller. Overall good entry!
Great job! The music that starts when you have to run really gets your heart pumping. The mood is very creepy and ominous - well done! One critique is that it takes a little too long for your sprint to come back after running.
Nicely done! The spell effects are great and very satisfying to use. I wish I could aim them a little more to hit the high flying enemies. Minor typo in the scroll in the first screenshot - "now" should be "know". Overall fun entry, good work!
Great game! It would have been nice to have a more obvious start point, so you can tell when you are approaching the next lap. Also I'd suggest adding some items to pick up to regenerate your health - if you had a rough start you didn't have any way to recover. That said, well done!
I'm impressed that you made your own engine - kudos! The game was fun, a little too easy for my taste (but perhaps I'm a glutton for pain). The graphics reminded me a bit of Hexen from the old days.
Unfortunately I'm unable to play - "Could not #include file: escarlib/p8v.lua"
Nice! Love the graphics. As already mentioned by others, it would be nice to have a restart button. It was also hard to tell if you would hit the enemy before they hit you. That said, this was fun to play!
Excellent execution! Visually looks fantastic, the circle of vision is a great artistic choice and the different climates makes it believable. My only critique is that the upgrade menu is a little hard to read. Very impressive!
Absolutely love this game! Superb visuals, the theme is on point, and the music matches the frantic mood. Perfect couch multiplayer game. One critique is that you can sometimes eject the coins outside the arena, which means nobody can pick them up again. Requiring a) multiple players and b) controllers may make this game hard to get reviewed, but it's totally worth it!
Great game! Simple yet very effective. It was a little difficult to follow the soul around, perhaps the mouse could be used for movement instead of WASD? The controls are displayed too quickly as well - I had to restart the game because I didn't catch the first set of instructions the first time. All said well done!
Nice entry! I love your direction with the theme. There seems to be a few bugs with the physics - I kept getting stuck on apparently nothing while walking. I would have liked the boss fight to be a bit more mobile - I just stood there and slashed at his legs until he died. Overall, I enjoyed it - good work!
Well done! The controls were easy to handle and the visuals were great. I think the player moves a little too fast (or the zombies move too slow). You may want to normalize the movement vector to avoid moving faster when moving diagonally ;) Good job!
Love the graphics! Felt like an NES game. The attack seemed a little too slow - I was frequently getting hit when I thought I had swung my sword first. The generated levels were a great idea, but 3 levels in a row for me generated the ladder right next to my spawn, so I think the algorithm needs a little tweaking. Overall had a great mood, nice work!
Well done! As already pointed out, the art style is fantastic. I would have liked the attack to have a little more gusto - maybe thrusting the spear forward more. I also found that if you stand in the same position as the enemy they will continuously swing but never hit you. Overall an enjoyable entry!
The amount of swag in the walk is fantastic. Great job!
Very well done! The achievements were a great idea because it had me trying again and again to get them all. Kind of felt like a treasure hunt. The controls were a little challenging at first, particularly turning and jumping, because I felt like I kept missing my intended location. Visuals were great and I really enjoyed this one, great job!
The aesthetics are great - nicely done! And the story is neat. Mixing body parts was fun, I only wish there were more things you could do with each one!
Great use of the theme! As other mentioned, it was a little difficult to figure out what's going on (i.e. which monsters have already attacked). It would be great to have more visual feedback - understandably time is a major constraint here. Well done, would be interested to see an updated version!
Well done! The bullet / hit effects are very satisfying. I didn't find the music annoying but the humming of the engine started to bug me after a while. Overall a fun entry!
Well done! The graphics are great and the sounds add to the mood well. I think the difficulty could have been balanced by starting the current night over if you were caught instead of starting the whole game over. As previously mentioned, the movement was a bit jarring, but I laughed out loud when I read the description about investing in real estate. Good work!
Great take on the theme! The graphics were well done, but I wish the UI had the same flair (i.e. buttons). The interface was very intuitive but the customers came in a little too infrequently (I never had more than two customers at a time, mostly just one). I was generating enough health the entire time that I could always afford to give 100% chance of return. Increasing the intake of customers would make it more challenging. All said, well done!
That shotgun animation is glorious... well done! The movement and shooting is very satisfying (the gore helps too). Very polished! The enemy sound effects are a little quiet - had to crank the volume to hear them.
Great visuals! The animations were simple yet well done. As mentioned already, I found some weird hitbox issues where I was being hit by ghosts that were far away from me. It also isn't clear how many respawns you have before losing - might be nice to have a UI for that.
Really well done! Loved the visuals and the sound effects (the opening "Kill Kill Bank Bank" reminded me of an arcade game). I found the mouse aiming a little frustrating since it didn't quite follow the mouse. The minimap was great - knowing which rooms you've already visited was very helpful. Great job!
Very fun! The shooting mechanic is tricky but once you get the hang of it it's pretty rewarding. I love the interactions with the townspeople - makes it believable. The reapers are a neat way to use the theme, but unfortunately you can get yourself stuck if you die and reload a save point beyond the reaper (you can't get back). Great job though!
Using the weight of the bag to influence the jumps, buttons and fans was a great idea! The jumping physics seemed a little off and make it hard to land where you would expect, but besides that I enjoyed it. Well done!
Fun game, well done! The visuals are great and the interface is intuitive. It would be helpful to be able to skip the instructions. Interestingly, the first time I played I crushed the opponents without trying. The next time I did the same thing but lost immediately. Overall very enjoyable!
Neat concept! The interaction with the robots is a nice touch and the art style is pleasant. As previously mentioned, the environment feels a bit empty. The user interface isn't particularly intuitive either - moving your hand from mouse to arrow keys feels a bit clunky.
Great job! Very fun, I can see this being a great mobile game. The archer sound effect felt a little off, especially since you heard it so much if you dumped a bunch of hearts into it. Well done!
Kudos for making your first game! The idea is solid, but I'd like to see more enemies and more of an environment. I think the large boxes should be static, as having them move when you run into them doesn't feel right. I like the visual for the enemy - kinda spooky. Keep at it!
Great game! Very fun to play. Simple yet very effective. The menu could have used a little more polish, but the gameplay was on point and the music matched perfectly. Well done!
Love your implementation of the theme - choosing to lose certain aspects of yourself was very cool. Very fun and engaging. I found The camera moved around a bit too much. I also had trouble seeing some enemies due to the pillars in the foreground. Overall fun to play - great job!
Thanks for all the great feedback! @yazara I struggled with the tongue mechanic to get it to feel smooth. Any suggestions for how to improve it?
@garys Thanks for the suggestion! I actually had the tongue controlled via the mouse at first, but the feedback from testers was that it wasn't intuitive. It probably depends if you are used to the mouse + WASD (i.e. FPS games) or not. In retrospect it probably would have been a good option to toggle via a menu to let the user decide.
Thanks @jharler! You are exactly right, the tongue position is determined when you press the button. I see your point though - thanks for the feedback!
@raymoclaus Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the grappling mechanic. I should have made the double jump more obvious - thanks for mentioning!
@shuu I described the theme in the description here, but I should have included it in the game as well. Solid note for next time! Thanks!
@kaisean-games Interesting, is this something that happens often with your keyboard? I haven't run into this personally. Glad you enjoyed the visuals!
@mika-la-grand Thanks! Using the mouse may have improved the game for a lot of people - thanks for the feedback. Fair point, I may have made it a little too challenging ;)
@alienplay Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
@fingamer I was going for a retro feel, glad it came through ;)
@kerdelos Thanks! Running into the mosquitoes hurts you (i.e. they bite you) but eating them provides health because you are using them for sustenance.
Thanks @foumart, there's a known bug when spamming the tongue keys while eating a mosquito. Unfortunately I didn't find it until after the deadline ;)
Fun game! Reminds me of older Zelda titles. The visuals are great - well done! It needed some more feedback when hitting an enemy, sometimes it was hard to tell whether I hit it or not.
Very original implementation of the theme. The controls were a little difficult to use, especially since the branch snaps back to the original position when you attack. This makes the difficulty rise quite quickly when the people come at you faster and faster. Love the art style! Good work.
Great visuals and gameplay! Feels very polished. My only comment is on the controls - it's very difficult to dodge the enemy fire without a strafing mechanic. Recovering the stars and returning them to their position feels very satisfying. Good work!
Well done! Quite fun, although a little too easy for me. Great implementation of the theme and visually impressive for such a short time. I like how your cannons fire differently than the enemy ships - makes it so you can out-maneuver them and feel clever about it.
Fantastic game! The art and use of the theme are incredibly well done. The music is a great addition - really helps add to the mood. The movement felt a little slow, and some sound effects beyond the music would have gone a long way, but overall this was a joy to play and really impressive! Well done!
Reminds me of Plants vs Zombies. I'm impressed with what you managed in just 13 hours! The gameplay is fun but a little slow - I think everything needs to be sped up just a bit (monster spawning and health regeneration via Essence Reactors). It would also be great to get some more visual feedback from the dropped items that you pick up, so you can tell what it's doing. I ended up getting stuck with a monster attacking my Essence Reactor, but my reactor didn't appear to take any damage and no more monsters would spawn, so I had to restart. Good work, keep it up!
Great game! The combat was fun, especially with the dash mechanic added in (dashing in, slashing the enemies and dashing back out felt great). As already mentioned, some sound effects would have been great. I really enjoyed this one!
This is great! Simple yet very effective. It wasn't immediately clear what each object did, but after playing around it was clear. I also didn't realize you could rotate the lasers at first, so a tutorial would have been helpful. Excellent job on the mood, keep it up!
Great game! Love the visuals and use of the theme. As mentioned above, some sound effects and a little more polish would make this a great mobile game. Unfortunately, once you start doing poorly it's pretty hard to come back. Maybe some random drops that blow up a chunk of enemies, or a slowly recharging spell from the necromancer? Very fun, I found myself playing for 20 minutes. Keep at it!
This is one of the most innovative ideas I've seen this jam. The swapping text mechanic is really unique and fun, the visual style is great, and the puzzles are designed very well. As others have mentioned, throw some sound and you've really got a great one here! Very well done!
Outstanding visuals and music! The art style fits perfectly. Perhaps adding a scoring system would have made it more game-like? Regardless, very impressive. Well done!
I can't believe this was made in a weekend! The amount of polish is quite incredible. Very fun, graphically stunning, use of the theme was excellent, and the music was awesome. I would love to see this turned into a full-sized game! Well done!
Great puzzle game! The visuals and sound are well done. It wasn't entirely clear that you could place TH on the radioactive circles, so perhaps a little direction would have helped, although it was fun to figure out. Well done!
Great little exploration game! It was somewhat soothing to walk around the island and pick things up and I liked how the music changed at night, although the day / night cycle seemed a little fast. It might just be my competitiveness, but I would have enjoyed a bit of urgency. Well done though!
Well done! This felt very much like Megaman, in the best way. I found the controls a little difficult to use personally (I would have preferred to use "space" for jump), and the final boss was pretty difficult (you didn't have much time to react to the attacks). Regardless, I enjoyed this one. Great job!
@ddrkirbyisq I would have liked something on the right side of the keyboard for shoot, i.e. "/", but that's just my personal preference
Nice! I really like the style, feels very retro. The gameplay is really simple yet engaging. My only complaint is that you only have one hit before restarting - it would be nice to have one "shield" that would absorb one hit and recharge, to be a little more forgiving on a single mistake every so often. That said though, great job!
Great atmosphere, visuals and sound. Like others, I found the controls a little clumsy. I also got lost at one point, took a while to figure out where I was supposed to go, so maybe a little direction would be helpful (even as simple as an arrow pointing in the general direction). Game was fun though, nice work!
Nicely done! The visuals were great and the mechanics were easy to figure out. I found pressing F to be a little clunky when you got the sword, and I think you move too quickly for how zoomed in the camera is, but besides that this was fun! Good job!
Top notch visuals, gameplay, audio - great execution. This doesn't look like a game built in a weekend! Well done!
Cute game! The story was a nice touch. Very unique interpretation of the theme. The Saddenings shot a little too often, making it difficult to actually aim... I just spammed the attack and ran from side to side to hit them. The world had a nice feel to it though - well done!
I'm not sure what I just experienced, but it was... interesting. The rippling effect was a little too strong, and there didn't seem to be a way to lose (which is not inherently a bad thing), but it certainly makes you sit for a minute and think about it. Neat entry!
Neat game! The visuals are great. It was enjoyable but short - perhaps you could have extended the map for more length, with one or two more interactive components. The head bobbing while you walked was both odd and amusing!
I liked the humor in this one. Adding abilities by jumping to the box was a great idea. The platforming felt good and there were a solid amount of upgrades. I think some more frames in the animations would have gone a long way, but I can understand how time doesn't always allow. Good job!
Very amusing! You managed to put a lot of content in such a short amount of time. Well done! The controls were a little clunky, and the music panning left to right so quickly bothered me a bit on headphones but was fine on speakers. Gameplay was fun though - good job!
Feel good is a great way to describe it! Simple yet elegant. The music set the mood nicely. Good stuff!
Neat concept! Progressively gaining abilities is a nice use of the theme. The platforming felt a little clunky, partially due to too little gravity and not being able to jump through platforms vertically. Some of the UI was hard to read as well (i.e. yellow text on a light brown background). Great sense of humor though - well done!
Neat concept! The little intro cut-scene added some nice backstory, and being able to walk through the house to see your progress was a nice touch. Good job!
Neat game! Unfortunately I ran into a situation where I couldn't continue. I had used all my dynamite to get down there, and then I couldn't retrace my steps to get out. Perhaps a jetpack of some sort to move back up would have solved the issue, or having unlimited dynamite (which would have been really fun to just blast your way through the caves). It also would have helped to have some sound effects for the enemies - having sounds elsewhere and not for them made it really stand out that they were missing. That said though, this was a fun entry and I can see a lot of potential here. Well done!
Great use of the theme! Felt very polished. Not being able to move right for a good portion of the game was harder than I would have expected. The pixel art and animation was well done and reminded me of an old NES game. Well done!
This was very fun, I really liked the premise. It would have benefited from a short tutorial because it wasn't obvious at first that you had to gain your army from the farm animals. I also found that the difficulty curved up very quickly. That said though, well done!
Great game! The visuals and sounds are well done and the premise is pretty funny. The attack animation could have been a little more exaggerated to really show the punch, but it does the job. It took me a little while to figure out that you could break the walls and place them again, which added some more strategy. I like how it fit in a small window, sort of Game Boy-esque. Good work!
Great visuals! Felt very Terraria-esque. The weapon swinging mechanic felt a little odd though, and as others have mentioned there were issues picking items up if they spawned where you were standing. The music fit well and the day / night cycle was a nice touch. Nice work!
Neat game! Fit the theme well. I found the wall jumping difficult, but the game overall was fun. Good work!
Nice! I like how you avoid the monsters instead of attack them, and that unlocking more monsters leads to more points. The animations were very lifelike, great job! Like others, I noticed some lag after each round, and I'm also not sure if I was supposed to start with the dash move since it was an upgrade for later.
Excellent game! Being able to end the game at any time is an interesting dynamic and almost makes you want to try everything first. There were some other games with similar approach to the theme, but this was definitely one of the best. The platforming felt smooth and responsive, and the visuals were outstanding. The sound also set the mysterious mood very well - great job!
Very impressive visuals! And the vibe was very spooky, which the sound sells well. I jumped the first time I turned around to see a fiend right behind me. Nice work!
Nicely done! Being able to switch between characters adds another level of puzzle solving. My only comment is that you move pretty slow relative to everyone else, which makes it really hard to avoid someone once they start moving toward you. I really enjoyed this one though, great job!
Simple yet fun little puzzle game. The sound when the muffin runs out of the oven is great! Nice work!
Simple but effective! Reminded me of SkiFree a bit. I only wish you could keep track of how many skiers you hit... nicely done!
Great visuals! I love the take on the theme. I unfortunately reached a point where I had collected everything but couldn't make a knife, therefore I couldn't finish making the sandwich. What you managed to complete was very enjoyable, well done!
Great game! The music fits the visuals well and watching the villagers row their life rafts over was amusing. I noticed two things that made it difficult: 1) If a villager was standing near the building, I couldn't click the building's buttons, and 2) you can't take a villager in need off of a task, which led to one of mine starving. Besides that though this was very enjoyable, well done!
@anticdope Completely understandable, we've all been there ;)
Great entry! The visuals were great, as were the sound effects (which is a shame that you unlock them so late in the game). There were a few orbs spread around the map that looked as if running into them would do something but it didn't. They may have just been there for light, but it wasn't clear which ones did something and which didn't. The orbs that helped direct and tell the story were a nice touch. I made it all the way to the boss, but died and had to start all over, which was very punishing. Regardless, great job!
Great puzzle game! Very polished and visually appealing. I would have loved to play longer! Also, some sound effects for each card would have been great (although, understandably, time may not have allowed). Well done!
We had a similar idea for our game ;) The character models were great - good job on the animations. It was a little difficult to aim; perhaps if you could aim with your mouse instead of the keyboard it would have been easier. Also, if you click attack quickly it interrupts your attacks which prevents you from actually doing damage. Besides that, there's a lot of potential here. Keep it up!
Great implementation of the theme! The visuals are excellent and atmosphere is very stylized. I found the screen-shaking to be a little too strong. I also felt as though the bullets traveled a little too slowly, making it difficult to hit the enemy (although easier for you to dodge). Well done!
Nice job! Fits the theme really well. I found the walking bob up and down a little distracting, and I had trouble chopping down trees (felt like the hitboxes were moving?). As others mentioned, it would be good to get some sort of feedback when an item can be picked up. This is a nice start of a survival game though, keep it up!
Love this game! I could see this idea turning into a great full-sized game. As others mentioned, the turning was a little too fast, and the gun was a little too overpowered compared to the rest of the weapons.
The dash combo mechanic is great! Makes you want to really line them up before making any moves.
Sound effects and music were great, and the gameplay was fun! As others already pointed out, the camera movement was jarring. Having the camera follow the mouse was a good idea, but I would suggest slowly interpolating between positions to make it less drastic. Nice work!
Can't go wrong with Corgis! I enjoyed this one. The camera movement was a little jarring though. Graphics were well done - nice work!
I really like the mechanics of this one. Wasn't particularly challenging, but was fun to run to the edges of the map to come back on the other side and I appreciated the arrow showing you which direction to go in. The atmosphere was very well done with beautiful graphics and sound. I experienced increasing lag on the WebGL version as I progressed but that's not too surprising given how detailed the 3D visuals are in a browser. Great job!
Great use of the theme! The different spells were fun to play around with. It didn't seem like there was a way to lose though? Even so, well done!
Great use of the theme! There were a few times when the car parts would spawn in an impossible location due to other obstacles, and a few times there I couldn't move without colliding with something.
A very soothing game! The music is great, really sets the mood. Even though there isn't a ton to do, it's enjoyable. I think you could really expand this into something big. The visuals were great, although I did get some slowdowns when exploding a large sun.
Great idea for a game! I found the controls a little finicky (sometimes I would click an object but it wouldn't possess it). As others have said, it would be fun to have alternate options for completing a level. Visuals were well done, nice job!
Thanks for the comments! @kekkodude You don't have to click on the unit directly to attack, just point the mouse in their direction to aim. I can imagine using a touchpad would be difficult.
@kekkodude Glad you gave it another shot! I'm not sure what you mean by attacking "open air". You can swing and shoot to your heart's content with or without enemies - just aim in any direction and click. Perhaps the controls aren't clear enough, or perhaps I'm misunderstanding your comment?
Agreed, given more time some combo moves would have been great! Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks @adhesion! It's subtle, but your weapon turns red before breaking. Noted though. We had hoped to get more enemy types in, but unfortunately time didn't allow. Thanks for your feedback!
Thanks @thecritterscove for the feedback!
We had planned for more enemies and weapons to vary the gameplay, but there wasn't enough time.
The shield currently blocks 80% of sword damage and 100% of arrow damage. We intended to add enemies with shields that would force you to switch to a sword, which would have made gameplay more interesting, but unfortunately we ran out of time.
Great use of the theme! It was neat slowly filling the game in. The music reminded me of Super Smash Bros. My only comment is that it wasn't always clear which direction the new level was added - perhaps some arrow or other indicator would have helped, or even if each new level had a different colored platform to distinguish it from where you've already been. That said, good work!
Great visuals! I wish there was a little more to the scenery and perhaps an end goal? I also think some visual to go with the vacuum would help indicate that it's actually working. This has a lot of potential though, good job!
Fun game! The controls are a little difficult to master - for instance, there is a little too much accel / deccel which can cause you to slide into spikes sometimes. There was also a little too much screen shake in my opinion. The levels were really well designed - I especially liked the vertical block at slid along the spikes to move you up like an elevator. Well done!
Neat, relatable take on the theme! Nicely done!
Neat concept, but I was a little confused on how to use the items you collect. I also wish you could attack in more directions beside left and right. I like the art style though, good job!
Very well done! You did a great job designing the puzzles to slowly introduce new mechanics. The art style and music helped set the mood nicely. I really enjoyed this one.
This is a really fun concept! I played this one a few times to see how far I could get. I think there is a lot of potential here. It felt as though the enemies were coming too quickly in the beginning to really set up any sort of defenses, and the towers died a little too quickly. I was constantly trying to rebuild them which became a little frustrating. A little balancing on this though and I can see this being really great! Nice job!
Nice work! Visually impressive. The clock at the top really had my heart pounding when night was about to fall. I died my first night after my base was destroyed, but after that I think I hit a bug because no more enemies would spawn (I could stay outside all night without anything happening). The atmosphere was great - you really felt alone and creeped out. The light didn't change at night which felt a little odd. It was also a little cumbersome to hold the run key down all the time - since there's no reason not to run, why not always run? Great game though, could definitely see this growing into a larger project. Well done!
Neat game! Visuals were great, reminded me of the good ol' flash games. The cost of buildings was a little high, and I would have liked to have a variation on your attack (maybe a dash n slash attack?). I also found my thumb getting tired from spamming the space bar so much, which is also a testament to how much I enjoyed playing this one. Well done!
I really like the idea behind the inventory system. Placing abilities in different shaped blocks makes it a small puzzle within the game. I found it very challenging though - died multiple times on the second level, and each time I had to start all over. Perhaps when you die you should restart on the current level? Lots of great ideas here that you could expand upon!
Neat concept! The collection of mini-games keeps it interesting, although as others have mentioned the platform controls were a little challenging. I fell quite a few times, and there were several cases where I only made the jump because my chin grabbed the edge. I really liked the music, helped set he mood. Great job!
This game has a good amount of difficulty. I kind of like the fact that you have to die a bunch just to see the next part of the level - makes you just rush into the darkness blind. Having frequent torches to save progress was a great idea. For an unfinished game, this feels great. A full version has a lot of potential! Well done!
Great idea for a game! I wish the brush size for picking up sand / dropping it was a little larger, but I can understand keeping it small for more of a challenge. It also wasn't entirely clear where the sand shapes would be placed - I'd suggest a semi-transparent outline of the shape to show where it will go. This could make a great mobile game if you wanted to pursue it further!
Great atmosphere, very spooky - attributed mostly to the sounds but also to the "recordings" you find. I accidentally managed to fall out of the end of the first room. As others have mentioned, the movement speed is a little too slow. Good work!
Nicely done! I like how the game restarts as you playing as a sibling - very flavorful. I learned, as in life, that gambling was NOT the answer.
Simple yet elegant! Well done! The mechanic was very easy to use, but unfortunately I experienced a lot of slow downs when getting close to the sun. The levels were pretty quick to beat too, so I actually didn't notice that the branches aged and fell off until after I had already beaten the last level. It would have been a nice challenge had the levels taken a little longer to beat. That said, nice work!
Neat storytelling! Like others, I think the circle of vision was too small. The text was hard to read because it vanished too quickly (I know you could just check the log but perhaps a "Click to dismiss" would have been better) and there were a few typos. The visual style was great and fit the mood very well. Great job!
Mood, visuals, and music were all top notch! I enjoyed it, although I found it pretty difficult and unforgiving. If you made a mistake and hit any monster, it seemed like you had to start all over again because you wouldn't have a chance to catch up. I like the little memories you snuck in there about his life though - good work!
I really enjoy this game and the concept is really solid. You could easily take this further and make it more challenging with gravity physics. I only wish there were more levels ;) Well done!
@jaumemontagut Exactly, you could use gravity to pull the player in orbit around the planets to add to the puzzle mechanics, like in Mario Galaxy.
I like the idea of this game - I think it could easily expand into a larger game with a competitive high-score beating mode.
Just a friendly word of advice, you may want to adjust your goals a bit. Making a multiplayer game in a weekend, even as a veteran, is very difficult. I would suggest making a simple game and polishing it as much as you can, then try going a little further the next time. You did the most important part though; you made a game and had fun doing it! Keep it up!
Visually very impressive! I like the idea behind this game. I also got stuck after the first house though - wasn't able to find another that I could get candy from. As others have mentioned, it would be helpful to know what the courage requirement is for each house so you don't have to walk up to each one only to be scared away. That said, great job!
Simple yet very relaxing. I only wish the other flowers did something. I just hoped every time I planted a seed I would get a sunflower. A nice experience overall, well done!
Great well-rounded, polished platformer. It had a good amount of challenge. The pixel art and animations are top-notch. The bird poop was a funny mechanic - nicely done!
Great idea! I found it a little too challenging though. It felt as though your jump / run didn't last long enough to get away.
Neat game! The platforming and jetpack felt great, and the laser was fun to use. Could used some tweaks to the balancing - I found it quite challenging and didn't make it passed the first wave so I never saw the upgrades and different crabs. Anyways, I had fun playing this one. Nice job!
Player movement was a little too fast and felt like you were sliding around too much. I also felt like the screen was a bit busy - it was sometimes hard to see every object distinctly. The core mechanic was fun and I liked how your health was your currency (a nod to ldjam 44 ;)). Nice job!
This one made me chuckle! Excellent art and sounds. I wish there were weapon upgrades as you progress but I had fun regardless. Nice job!
Great job! We had a similar idea for our game. I like how you integrated the snowmen enemies - added some difficulty that we lacked. The music really added to the mood. It was sometimes hard to find my way back to the fire which discouraged you from wandering too far.
Very amusing! Loved the sound effects haha. The difficulty ramps up well as the game goes on. Having the sound effects forecast the wolves coming was a great idea - gave you a chance to look out for them. Well done!
Well I'm impressed. Hard to imagine this was completed in a weekend. The visuals, audio, mood, puzzles - everything was top notch! I look forward to seeing more games from you guys!
Excellent game! The mechanics took a little learning but once you figured them out it was very satisfying to zoom around space. Well done!
I love your implementation of the theme! Also great to see another Godot developer. Your "human" felt a little too attracted to the manholes, and it was a little frustrating when your "human" collided with you. It took me a few tries to get home, but the fact that I kept trying is a testament to your game ;)
I'm very impressed with what you managed to complete in such a short time! The story was incredibly well executed and had me interested all the way through. I think the movement speed could have been slightly faster, and it wasn't always obvious which parts of the trees you could land on, but those are minor comments on an overall great game. Excellent job!
Great graphics and feel! It wasn't obvious at first that the light orb was guiding you - I kept trying to use my dash to catch it XD But once I figured it out it made a lot of sense. I thought the mechanics felt good, maybe a little repetitive, but the rain / thunder effects made it enjoyable to just roam around anyway. Nice work!
@dranrebdev We've pushed a Mac version, although as @danthegreat mentioned we don't have hardware to test. Let us know if it works :)
@god-colo thanks! The items were manually placed. We thought about adding randomization but it proved difficult to balance.
Thanks @duke for the feedback! We definitely would have liked more time for balancing. The thought was to encourage the player to stockpile early and just feed the fire as the night got colder, but it wasn't necessarily obvious to do that. We also wanted to add an indicator of the fire's strength in the HUD so you would know when to return to the fire, but we ran out of time.
Visuals and sounds were great! I wasn't entirely sure what I was supposed to do at the end. I had collected all the souls and made my way to the edge of the forest, which was blocked by a large rock, and I didn't know how to proceed.
Great job! The art was on point and the mechanics were great. The controls could have been a little easier (perhaps WASD + J & K). It also felt a little hard to predict where the egg would be thrown to. A trajectory indicator would have gone a long way to help with that, and could have encouraged tricky bounces. Overall great entry though, excellent work!
Very impressive - fun mechanics while telling a compelling story. I found myself longing for one more mechanic - perhaps collectibles of some sort. Regardless, nicely done!
Great mechanics - I like how the elements boost your relevant abilities. Unfortunately the audio in your "bug free" version doesn't work, but I can hear the music in the original version. The music and art is great. The text is a little hard to read and the enemies are hard to see when behind the trees.
Loved the humor in this one, made me laugh. The gameplay was simple yet addictive - the visuals, music and sound effects were great. Nice job!
Neat game! The simple controls were a nice touch. It was a little odd that hitting the clouds would kill you so with some adjustments I think this would make an enjoyable mobile game.
Great job! The art style is great, very cohesive (I particularly enjoyed the trees and transition effect). I wish there was maybe one more mechanic to require a little strategy. The acceleration / deceleration on the player movement felt a little strange, as if you were running on ice. That aside, I had fun with this one. Nice work!
Great job! Fun and engaging, reminded me a lot of Doom / Quake with the weapons and enemies. As others have mentioned the screenshake was a little too intense (made me a little motion sick). I didn't quite see how it fit the theme, but we also struggled there... Regardless, nicely done!
Simple yet addicting with the right amount of polish. Well done!
Love the mood in this game! Like others have mentioned, I found it pretty hard to catch the passengers. Atmosphere was great though!
Very well done! Simple but challenging. I do wish there was a little more variety in the door / key locations, and perhaps another mechanic besides running and jumping. That said, this was incredibly polished for a jam game. I could see this going further into a released game. Great job!
Excellent game! Visually impressive, especially given the time constraint. The firefighting mechanic is very well done. The fact that the fire actual spreads is very cool. Some sound would have really made this entry shine. There were a couple of times where I was stuck - I couldn't put out the fire below me because the platform blocked the water, and I couldn't climb down the ladder without touching the fire and dying. Unfortunately because of this I wasn't able to get to the end.
Interesting concept! The waving screen was a little too strong and distracting. The mechanics weren't particular obvious but I can see potential here. Good job!
Nice job, especially considering you only had one day! This reminded me a lot of our game visually. The water shader was well done - not too obtrusive but got the point across.
Great puzzle game! Simple but fun to play. Nice job!
Great game! Very unique and well executed mechanic. It became a little frustrating at times when I couldn't reach a platform but I wanted to push on anyways. The pixel art, sound and music fit together very well. Nicely done!
Nice job! The main mechanic was fun, but as others mentioned I wish there were a something more (a hazard or another objective). I found one large patch of minerals near the station and it was enough to full upgrade everything. The UI as part of the submarine was really well done.
This game is great! I had a lot of fun playing it. The music and sound effects were spot on. The graphics were impressive for a game made in a weekend! Very polished. As David U mentioned, it felt bad having cards that you couldn't play because you were limited by your max energy. I also agree that it sometimes felt too luck based (obviously happens with random draws) so perhaps being able to discard one (or even two) cards to draw one would have mitigated that a little, or at least you would have another chance at luck. The ability to build your own deck would make an interesting mechanic if you wanted to pursue this further. Besides that though this game was really well done, great job!
Great mix of mechanics. The defending aspects helped break up the resource collecting well. Well done!
Nice and relaxing :) Reminded me of Pokemon Snap back in the day. This was very enjoyable - the music was particularly chill and added to the atmosphere of casually taking pictures. Well done!
Well, I'm thoroughly impressed! The graphics, sound effects, music, and mood were all top notch. I'm particularly impressed with the number of mechanics you were able to implement. This felt very polished for a game jam game. Well done!
This game is so polished that it's hard to believe it was created for a game jam! The graphics, sound effects, music, gameplay... wow! My only complaint amongst the plethora of compliments is that my hand got tired of smashing the keys to dig :D Being able to hold down a key would go a long way. I highly suggest you consider continuing with this game because this is incredibly well done!
Interesting concept! You could definitely go somewhere with this. As others have mentioned, it could use some gameplay mechanics and sound effects, but this is a good start.
Nice job! The music was great and helped set the tone well. I was hoping to unlock more mechanics (i.e. get a shield after saving the shield department) and I agree with enderr42 that the small enemies might have too much health, but overall the gameplay felt solid. Well done!
Nice! The graphics were good and the sound effects were really well done. As others have mentioned, having to reopen the game to retry was kinda rough and the bombs seem to have too much health to be worth shooting (I actually ended up just dodging them instead of shooting them). The aiming was a bit difficult due to the perspective, and some scoring would have been a good way to incentivize shooting the mines. Overall though nice job!
@nsadie Thanks, we're glad your kids liked it! Yes, the fish are randomly generated by piecing together a collection of fins, bodies, heads and tails.
@dhim Thank you for the honest feedback! The controls are more difficult than intended and something we could improve. We had plans to add sonar to the ship to provide more vision in the dark but unfortunately ran out of time. You technically can't "lose" - we hoped the tension would encourage the player to keep moving to the end with a simulated sense of urgency.
Thanks for playing!
Great graphics! The sonar was well done and the movement / engine mechanic was a cool idea but it was a little unforgiving, especially since it was so dark. Might I suggest giving the sub health and reducing the health by an amount determined by the force at which you hit the walls. I frequently barely tapped the wall but I lost immediately. I also think the end screen is a little too long (trying again should be quick, especially if you lose often). I think this has a lot of potential though if you wanted to continue with it! Nice job!
Incredibly well done! Great take on the theme. I appreciate the simplicity in the controls. The gameplay is soothing but interesting. The upgrades were well thought out and each felt significant enough that I had to think about which upgrade to use next. Impressive for only 48 hours! Great job!
Great job! The story was interesting and the climbing mechanic was a nice idea. I kept falling because I wanted it to behave like typical wall jumping, but that's more on me than the game. The music was really well done. There were a few places where the physics felt a little off (i.e. I fell through a space that looked solid). Great entry!
Excellent job! The graphics, sound and music were all incredibly well done. The gameplay felt a little lacking, especially because I never actually saw any of the items (I fell on top of them when they spawned every time). I think it would have been interesting to find some open caves beneath the surface to add some variety to the "just dig down" gameplay. That said, this was one of the most polished and humorous games I've played so far!
I like the sonar minesweeper-like mechanic. I found that I could keep diving back on the same treasure and get it over and over again, perhaps the treasure should disappear once you dive down and get it? As others have mentioned, the diving portion could use something more. The diving movement was also a little hard to control. I think this idea really has merit though and could turn into something bigger. Good job!
Looks great! Love the pixel art. As others have mentioned, it would have been nice to have another mechanic, but given the time constraint I think you did a great job. Well done!
Great job! The graphics, sound and music were all top notch. The mechanics were very unique and fit the theme really well, although I felt as though I had very little agency. I felt as though I had no control over how the soldiers fell or which pillars would fall. Perhaps adding more control over those "unstable" elements would make it more fun. That said, you really have the start of something great here!
Fun but challenging. Some feedback on the enemies charging up before they attack would have been made it feel less punishing. I also would have liked some sort of progression, perhaps gaining more abilities over time. That said, well done! I loved the music and sound effects, very effective!
@glaciereclipse Apologies for the crash - we've been able to reproduce it but haven't been able to narrow down the cause as it only seems to happen in the deployed web build.
Ah, the good ol' Quake nostalgia... I only wish there were a shotgun. Combat felt very fluid. I wish there were more feedback when you hit enemies / picked up things, but I suppose that made it feel even more like Quake. Not sure how the theme fits in here but I enjoyed this none the less.
Incredibly polished! Had the vibe of a Mario Party mini-game. Great take on the theme. Great music, great visuals - well done!
Fun but challenging! Very cool mechanic done well. Nice job!
Nice take on a familiar genre! As others have mentioned, this could easily become a mobile game. The visuals, graphics and audio fit the game very well. The simple but addicting gameplay kept me playing for much longer than I expected! Great job!
Really enjoyed this one. The graphics, music and sound fit the game really well. As others have mentioned, I found a few minor bugs. 1. Sometimes climbing the ladder would throw me off 2. After being destroyed by a satellite the ship would be invisible but would still have the rocket flames shooting out, which was a little confusing for a few seconds before I actually exploded.
I also wish you could "pick up" more passengers at once, and it felt a little odd that you'd have to continue running in one direction until everyone made it into the ship - I would have assumed once you reached the ship they would all just climb on in. These notes are really a nitpick in case you decide to continue with the game because this game is great and you should be proud of what you accomplished in a weekend! Congrats!
This was hilarious and as a fan of escape room style games I really appreciated this one. Great job! One note is that it was sometimes hard to find the window you wanted and bring it into focus.
Very well done! The story kept me wanting more and I loved having the option at the end. Sound and music were great, although it was sometimes hard to tell if the tone was for the puzzle or part of the music. As others have mentioned, some more variety in the puzzles would have been good. Regardless, well done!
Great visuals! The platforming was a little challenging due to the really fast jump but slow falling. If you were to continue this game, I'd recommend some visual feedback when hitting the shadows and when they hit you. I also wasn't quite sure what to do with the cats - I brought them back to the bottom left but it wouldn't let me do anything with them (I tried carrying them to the cage and throwing them into it but nothing worked). A great start to a game though, nice job!
Awesomely executed fluid physics. As others have mentioned it felt challenging without being too punishing (on normal mode anyways). The music / sound / graphics all fit together well. Nicely done!
Great take on the theme! The graphics are great and the gameplay is fun, although it felt that the weeds grew a little too quickly to get a proper handle on it, and I personally would have preferred a separate button for each interaction (i.e. different buttons for planting a seed, watering, and weeding). Overall though very well done!
Incredibly creative! Impressed with what you were able to accomplish in a weekend. I found myself roaming the halls looking at the art for much longer than I expected. Well done!
Quite challenging game that kept me coming back to see if I could do better. Nice job! The alternative to health was a very interesting mechanic, although it was frustrating when a single enemy destroyed my highest upgraded tower... perhaps it should fill up unused spaces first? Regardless, great game!
@orpartlu Thanks for the kind words and feedback! I've fixed the bug with the survived days, thanks for pointing it out. We used Godot.
@ferociter Thank you!
Excellent art, animation and sounds! Well executed overall.
Not sure what I just experienced, but I'm glad I did. Great job on the voice acting!
Very interesting mechanics! Had me playing a few times to see if I could survive a little longer. I wish the cards didn't block the bottom of the screen because you really couldn't see far ahead as you fell, which meant you couldn't move to catch the coins effectively. The cards were well designed though, nice work!
Great game, the mechanics are well implemented and definitely fun. I wish there were more levels but still impressive for a weekend jam. Graphics and music did the job well. Nice work!
Great implementation of the theme. It was pretty challenging, but in a good way. I do wish you could hold the mouse button down to place dams. I lost a few times because I couldn't left-click fast enough and being able to hold down the button would have helped.
Impressive graphics! The gameplay was lacking a little depth (I suggest adding a reason not to randomly swing back and forth forever, perhaps some space shuttles leaving Earth and returning that you need to avoid?) but I had a lot of fun regardless :) Nice job! The leaderboard was a nice touch!
Great job! Falling asleep certainly felt inevitable. I liked the mechanics but it felt a little odd that typing the names also moved the character (i.e. typing "SLASH" would move left when you typed "A"). My hands got a little tired of hitting "J" and "L" all the time, too, but you guys did a great job nailing the atmosphere. Well done!
Great job! I really enjoy these kinds of puzzle games. You nailed the atmosphere with the graphics and the sound effects. Well done!
Great fishing game! One of the best fishing mechanics I've seen, to be honest. It felt satisfying yet challenging. I got a little lost for a bit and had to refer to the map to find the nearest town - it would have been great if the map were built into the game! Some sound effects could have really made the fishing experience pop, but everything else was really well done so that's just me being picky. Great job!
This was great! The graphics were well done and the gameplay was straight forward but challenging. I wish there was an indicator for each attack to let me know when it will attack again - I found myself in a pickle a few times where I thought the attack was about to go off but it didn't and I got hit. I also found that if I took two many hits early on the run was pretty much a wash, so it would have been nice to have some more frequent health regens (maybe enemies could have a random chance to drop health packs? Overall fun though, I played a few times :)
Neat game! If I may provide one suggestion it would be add some game juice / user feedback when shooting and planting. I love the way the pineapples launch out of the ground when they're ripe! Nice job!
Great game! I made a similar bullet-hell game, so it's interesting to compare implementations. I really liked the spin-wheel to choose your plant (wish I had thought of that :D). Loved the graphics and the sounds fit very well. Nice work!
@boaz4 Thanks for the feedback!
I need to update those screenshots - I had originally used 1-3 to plant the different types of plants, but it wasn't a great experience, so I switched to right-click right before submitting. In retrospect, a spin-wheel style selection would have been more user friendly.
Thanks for letting me know that the Windows build was missing the .pck file! I've re-uploaded it with the pck file embedded.
Nice game! I enjoyed exploring and looking for ways to get the golden carrots. I found myself going in and out of doors a few times instead of jumping, so it would have been nice to have a dedicated jump button. Great music and atmosphere, well done!
Nice game! I thought the spice pools were rocks, so I avoided them at first. The mechanics were fun, although the game felt a little cut short by the sandworm. The sounds and music fit well though (although the sounds were a tad loud). Overall nice entry!
Nice entry! As others have already mentioned, the dash was very satisfying and the gameplay is quite challenging.
This game was excellent! Incredibly fun and visually appealing. The upgrades were well chosen. The need to choose between harvesting or shooting / moving felt like a great risk / reward. Kudos!
Excellent game! Visually very impressive. It was quite a challenge though, especially since you couldn't give commands and move at the same time. Like @ditam I got stuck trying to place down a dash, jump over the fire, and place down a jump before Ernest ran back into the fire. Regardless, well done!
Neat game! The mechanics are great and are fun, although more challenging than I was expected. Perhaps just giving the player a few seconds at the start to study the recipe before ingredients are thrown at them would help.
This was great! Excellent graphics and sound, gameplay was fun but challenging. Very impressive for a game jam! Nice job!
Really enjoyed this one! The graphics and sound effects / music were great! I think it would have been interesting if the level was persistent to force you to move around more. I found that I could just suck up the same building, leave, come back and do it again without any risk of getting shot down. Great execution though! Nice job!
Great game! As others have mentioned, I wish there was a trash can or some way to get rid of a color that you don't want. I also found myself waiting and waiting for a red fruit and couldn't get one. I had a lot of fun with this one and can see the potential for a larger game. Nicely done!
