Can't start the game. Just crashes.

baturinsky 2019-10-07 16:17

Add some screenshots, please.

grhyll 2019-10-07 16:20

Uuuh I can't do anything ^^' I guess I'm supposed to gather resources from the trees and the barrels, but hitting them doesn't do anything and I've tried all the other keys as well :/ Well, in the meantime, I've visited the whole island at least twice, it's a cosy little place :p (Although it's getting like REALLY dark at night :') )

zsolt 2019-10-07 16:25

@grhyll sorry, check the description now ;D I forgot to write down some very important information.

zsolt 2019-10-07 16:25

@attala the game is windows x64 build and working fine(tested on 3 different PC because the optimization)

zsolt 2019-10-07 16:26

@baturinsky I'll add a few when I get home.

grhyll 2019-10-07 16:35

"You can pick up rocks, bushes, tree stumps" But there's none of that on the island ^^' I've just started the game again to be sure (although I would have seen them the first time since I wandered the whole island), there's nothing I can pick up :/

Graphics are nice, I like them. The walking was a bit offsetting I find

josh-galecki 2019-10-07 16:49

Given the mouse+controls scheme, it might have been better to map the 'Use' key to one of the mouse buttons instead 'E'.

I didn't have enough wood left to build a torch as night fell, and things were pitch black at that point. Including a little bit of ambient light (moonlight maybe, or a small bit of light nearby the player) could allow that small extra bit of gathering needed to gather the last supplies.

Overall, good game!

zsolt 2019-10-07 16:50

@josh-galecki thanks for the feedback (the night is max 2 minute the day is 8)

zsolt 2019-10-07 16:53

@christophebessette thanks for the feedback, the trees are procedurally generated :D, but the others made in blender.

bocodillo 2019-10-07 17:19

The footstep audio got old pretty fast. The graphics were nice and the core gameplay is there but I didn't feel any urgency to really do anything. I was worried I'd lose when my orange bar ran out but nothing seemed to happen. Are picking up bushes supposed to give material? I didn't notice any resources from them after I crafted the torch. It's alright overall, I did like that you put the effort into an inventory and equipment system though.

grhyll 2019-10-07 17:22

Ohh yeah my bad, that's obvious, I tried it on my first try, against trees and barrels, but forgot to try again on my second ^^' OK, everything is working, I built the torch, the spear and the axe, but I have to confess I gave up when I saw the cost of the buildings, I'm not really a farming guy :D Still, good work!

zsolt 2019-10-07 17:39

@bocodillo thanks for the feedback, I made 2 different footstep audio for the grass and for the road. (Bushes gives you cloth :D). I didn't have enough time to model and program the enemies (AIs) for the night, so the colored bars don't do anything right now.

zsolt 2019-10-07 17:40

@grhyll thanks for giving a third chance to my game :D

rdcooper 2019-10-08 16:36

I'm a big fan of crafting/survival games, and this one feels right at home in the genre. It's also perfect for the theme!

My only main problem is: I've gathered the necessary resources, but can't craft an axe? When I click the button, nothing happens. No axe is put into my inventory. I was somehow able to craft a torch and a spear, but couldn't get an axe, which I assume would be needed to chop down trees.

Aside from that, the game was fairly intuitive. I did notice that I tended to stop walking a short time AFTER having release the W key, which was a bit frustrating.

Cool concept, if a little bit unpolished. Good job!

crazywulf 2019-10-08 16:46

I am a big fan of survival games but i think 8K wood is too much... I didn't like the mishits of the player while cutting trees. overall it was a nice game but i gave up after building all tools.

finnthepirate 2019-10-09 09:14

Nice idea for the theme, day and night system is also nice. Interactable objects could be highlighted when pointer pointed them. given the large scale of the project of course there are things to be fixed or add but in 48 hours a survival game, good job

cantthinkofname 2019-10-10 10:15

Graphics are really nice

mharring 2019-10-19 15:07

Nice job! Fits the theme really well. I found the walking bob up and down a little distracting, and I had trouble chopping down trees (felt like the hitboxes were moving?). As others mentioned, it would be good to get some sort of feedback when an item can be picked up. This is a nice start of a survival game though, keep it up!

zsolt 2019-10-21 07:13

@rdcooper @mharring @cantthinkofname @finnthepirate @dazedhead thanks for the feedbacks (:

karlipoppins 2019-10-21 08:11

Really awesome graphics! Happy I read the description before starting to play, was able to gather a bunch of resources. Footstep noises were a bit repetitive, but it was fun to go through the progress. I built all the tools but couldn't find a way to finish the game.

bungalow 2019-10-21 10:02

Awesome graphics, but could definitely use some better lighting and post processing. It also had quite a lot of work put into it for only 72 hours, I'm impressed!! Awesome job!

jamioflan 2019-10-21 21:37

I would have loved to be able to see the inventory and crafting on the same screen at the same time. I kept flicking back and forth to see what I could make which was rather annoying.

I also didn't seem to suffer for not having built anything by nighttime, I wasn't quite sure what I was supposed to be hiding from.

blaster391 2019-10-21 21:51

Walking was a bit funky to get started with, other than that no real issues. Would have been nice to see a few more mechanics (thirst, etc) but given the time constraints it's a pretty good entry.

Also water wasn't affected by lighting, making nighttime super weird
