The art is just amazing <3 You did an amazing job with executing an idea... That's just wow!

dougdevs 2019-10-07 00:30

Nice. Feels well polished and is beautiful. Excellent compo submission

jamesvaughan 2019-10-07 03:30

I dunno what's up with my Chrome, but I couldn't see the sun in Chrome but I could see it in Edge

100th-coin 2019-10-07 03:31

Woah, hot dang! this is super well made! very fast paced and exciting.

johan-alexandersson 2019-10-07 04:01

Nice! Seems i'm only good for making Sakura bushes though.

bry 2019-10-07 04:01

Really like the style.

kevinworkman 2019-10-07 04:26

This is a nice moody little game. I might have wanted a little more control over where the water goes, but overall I really liked this. I could see this becoming a really cool interactive art exhibit. Nice work!

zwodahs 2019-10-07 04:34

Nice work. The withering of the plant got me on the first try. :D

zenpj 2019-10-07 04:43

The music really puts you on edge! I love the way the tree is simulated

locomule 2019-10-07 05:13

outsidde the box in a very cool way, very fun mechanic, nice design

robodoig 2019-10-07 05:22

Beautiful! Art-style, mechanic, music - all very well done.

thevideogamester 2019-10-07 05:23

This is awesome. I would love to see a less resource/time management-esque version. Kind of a digital bonsai. Great job!

tero-pulkkinen 2019-10-07 06:43

wow, very fast paced at the beginning, but then it calms down a little, and nice sounds too. Graphics is excellent with growing trees... But I liked most about the fast paced start of the game.

sozey 2019-10-07 09:23

That's a very lovely, relaxing game, and the visuals are really amazing. I'm definitely going to check the source, I'm curious about how you handle the growing.

appoxgames 2019-10-07 09:28

Sozey (@sozey) go ahead! Let me know what you think afterwards! I used unity and the growing part is in the branch .cs and leaf.cs

zc74560 2019-10-07 09:33

Amazing art!

soupstoregames 2019-10-07 09:41

Excellent game! That moment when you realise you've been neglecting parts of your plant and it falls off and dies is gut-wrenching. Gorgeous graphics, nice simple interface. Great job!

appoxgames 2019-10-07 09:46

SoupStoreGames (@soupstoregames) I'm glad you liked it!

appoxgames 2019-10-07 09:46

TheVideoGamester (@thevideogamester) I wanteed to make it resource based but since i only had 48H i decided to go for the simple route. Thank you for your feedback!

thevideogamester 2019-10-07 09:49

No worries. It was more a suggestion if you keep going than a suggestion for the jam. Its extremely impressive what you achieved.

wie 2019-10-07 10:23

Very interesting concept - very similar to mine, check it out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/vaahtera ! Gameplay was innovative and clearly a lot of effort was put to the tree growth mechanics and it shows! Nice graphics and audio. My only gripe with this game, is that sometimes, controlling the tree is very difficult, it seems to have a mind of it's own at times. Also, It's sometimes unclear, what parts of the tree are falling off, and how to prevent that, so I would suggest looking at fixing those two things and it will be an even more awesome game! Also- a bug I noticed: At one point, all of my tree died, and I couldn't even try to finish the level, as there was no point left to grow from. Anyway, a really cool and fun game with a great atmosphere!

pedromgdo 2019-10-07 10:42

Chill game but for some reason the game was lagging form time to time, nothing impactfull on the gameplay tho.

joshuarabbit 2019-10-07 12:17

The art and UI design are beautiful and amazing!

adrien-dittrick 2019-10-07 12:18

This game is quite beautiful but also had very big lag spikes on my end :/

appoxgames 2019-10-07 12:23

@adrien-dittrick Hehe yes, since it was for the desktop i really took it to the next level. No time for optimizations. Hopefully it was not to dreadfull.

appoxgames 2019-10-07 12:25

@wie Thank you for the good feedback i appreciate it! Yeah since i wanted it to make so the tree feels like it has it's own life can be annoying sometimes. But there is a trick where you can let it grow to eitherside and then let the branch fall off down to the sun. Like a mini puzzle but i see why most people miss it.

simxple 2019-10-07 12:42

Nice take on the theme, and beautiful graphics but it started lagging in the end. Also sometimes almost the whole tree fell apart and I had no clue why :p Nevertheless great game!

nachtwitch 2019-10-07 12:52

Ooooohh my got that art gives me shivers

frederikh 2019-10-07 12:52

Beautiful artwork and the idea is lovely too. Maintaining the tree on Day 7 was actually quite challenging - especially since the "defects" were so small then.

jajakeim 2019-10-07 12:52

innovative mechanics, a good experience. Good work :D

netherlab 2019-10-07 13:14

You really did put a lot of love into the game and it shows! Super creative, original, beautiful! Well done!

infraxion 2019-10-07 14:37

Incredible art and simple but innovative gameplay. Really beautiful.

snufkinshat 2019-10-07 15:41

The art and innovative gameplay and music all work so well together to support the theme. I would have liked a tiny bit more control over where the water goes and a little bit more warning that branches are unwell and about to die. Really lovely game -- thoroughly enjoyed it.

maximbegunov 2019-10-07 16:40

Strange combo: a challenging but at the same time relaxing game. Could not get past the 7th day but enjoyed it very much. Great creation of yours in every aspect!

randdir 2019-10-07 17:02

Really nice concept & design. I like it but guess music might be more "zen". Guess it could fit well. Keep it up !

appoxgames 2019-10-07 17:29

@raddir Hehe yeah but i'm really bad at creating music. Wanted to go for zen like music but decided to for the random beat i created in Bosco Ceoil instead.

appoxgames 2019-10-07 17:31

@snufkinshat Yeah the water was tricky, because if it went straight down you couldnt water the branches from below. The leafs are the life indicator of the branches. They turn first yellow and then red to indicate the health of the branch. But yeah it's easily missed. Thank you for the feedback i appreciate it!

evannex 2019-10-07 19:12

Stunning visuals, and a great game to go along with it. This is one of my favorite entries so far!

starvingindie 2019-10-07 21:17

Such a great and innovative mechanic! I really enjoyed this a lot. I messed up a few times but it was tuned just perfectly for me to still be able to finish. Really great work. My only complaint is that the music didn't feel like it quite fit the feel and tone of the game, but that's a subjective critique. Everything else was great.

walaber 2019-10-07 23:55

very nice! It was a cool moment when I realized that the old leaves were dying if I didn't keep them watered.

aconfusedragon 2019-10-08 01:07

WOW i love the graphics of this game and can't believe how cool this concept is, really unique and espcially impressive that you pulled it off in compo! The music is a little bit lacking but i'm still amazed at how good this is

tommyflower 2019-10-08 10:09

Beautiful game from every point of view. The growing action is perfect and precise. I liked the simple but lovely graphics, the changing schemes and the very concept of growing into a specific direction. The music was perfect for suggesting growth. Compared to the effort with the mouse I would have loved to grow a little faster, maybe moving the goal far away. The interface with flowers is very cute and consistent. Good job!

namnam 2019-10-08 10:15

Cool Graphics, bit weird gameplay at first when I understood it, it was nice. Could become a nice mobile game.

mechanicallife 2019-10-08 15:34

Graphically this looks great and i love the mix of programming and art to achieve that look! It was surprisingly hectic with that music and time limit. Real good stuff!

appoxgames 2019-10-08 15:48

@starvingindie Thank you for the feedback! No i agree with the music that it is my weakest link generally in gamedev. First time using Bosca Ceoil and first time composing a music generally but hopefully i will try to improve on it. I'm glad you liked it!

appoxgames 2019-10-08 15:51

@tommyflower wow thank you for the kind words! I'm really happy you liked the music! Music was by far the hardest part for me since i'm new to composing and i used Bosco Ceoil for the first time. I can strongly recommend it if you liked what i was able to make with it.

tommyflower 2019-10-08 15:54

@appoxgames well done again. No I could never say that that was a first time! :)

raomer 2019-10-08 20:18

I managed to finish it the first time, but on second round the tree died fast. I took the wathering to easy the second time. The graphics are very nice and the music fits. It makes it urgent, the plant needs water, hurry, human. The time limit kept me pushing the whole time. Great concept and game mechanics :)

ausstein 2019-10-08 23:13

Nice I also made a god created the world game :P

kunonooni 2019-10-08 23:52

Visually breathtaking! Everything about this game oozes well thought out design and polish. Amazing job!

vivienw 2019-10-09 00:57

Sometimes the growing process feels so slow, but quite fun! Good job!

smilewood 2019-10-09 02:59

This game is beautiful. I really like the styling of it, and the organic growth of the tree is very well done. I did find the gameplay to be a bit lacking however, I thought that the way that the tree reacted to the water was too unpredictable, especially when the goal was beside and below the existing branches. I also found it to be almost impossible to keep up with the dyeing branches on later levels. I wish that this game has been able to grab me with its gameplay as I cant say enough how amazing the design of it is. I thought that the music complemented the earlier more Zen levels quite well. Great work!

ossi 2019-10-09 07:09

Wow! What a great visual style! While the watering mechanic was a bit hard to get used to at first it's a pretty cool way of directing the tree branch by branch. Great job!

corrade 2019-10-09 08:19

Excellent design and gorgeous art. Sometimes I was unable to water a leaf despite hovering my mouse over it, which was unintuitive. The progression would've been more satisfying if the increasing score was more prominent, so in that sense the UI could've been improved. I don't really have any complaints other than these (aside from performance in the web version, which you already addressed).

velvetlobster 2019-10-09 11:48

veery interesting and relaxing mechanics ... i remember a game with similar mechanics that won a lot of prizes some years ago, it was about growing trees and stuff ... cant remember the name

jusw85 2019-10-10 08:50

I loved the graphics and mood, the way the tree grew was beautiful. I had some difficulty getting the tree to get to where I wanted to though, other than placing my water spout there and hoping it followed, it did seem pretty random. Otherwise, great entry!

p-r 2019-10-10 18:36

Simple, but creative and well designed

chao 2019-10-15 11:45

Well, that was awesome. In some ways it was the epitome of the jam game, very simple concept, delivered in the most polished and impressive way possible. All the little details with the leaves falling off, and the flowers growing, and the way the tree kind of grew where you wanted but not really, it all pulled together really well. And it was so intuitive, from the sound design to the visual effects, it all pointed towards the same goal. Congrats.

appoxgames 2019-10-15 21:36

@chao Thank you for the kind words!

jamesolivermusic 2019-10-16 20:07

That was great! very pretty and well polished all round. I look forward to seeing what comes next from this post-jam!

mharring 2019-10-17 01:20

Simple yet elegant! Well done! The mechanic was very easy to use, but unfortunately I experienced a lot of slow downs when getting close to the sun. The levels were pretty quick to beat too, so I actually didn't notice that the branches aged and fell off until after I had already beaten the last level. It would have been a nice challenge had the levels taken a little longer to beat. That said, nice work!

lexyvil 2019-10-19 00:59

I love how it's like plant-growing simulator in that you direct where it grows. Probably the first time I see a game like it.

asfdfdfd 2019-10-20 19:53

Your sun is SO aggressive! Totally love your artstyle.

solah 2019-10-24 11:00

Wow, I love the concept, I thought the game was too easy until 90% of my tree died x) Well done!
