Well done! It's chaotic and keeps you moving. Nice job.
@askingquestions thanks buddy!
Really great gameplay. Good execution on the idea!
@iconocatstudio thanks -)
Super cool game and great graphics. good job.
Interesting take on the theme; game mechanics (building, shooting, infinite enemies) worked well together. The lighting and effects are nice, although it was occasionally hard to see bullets or units on the white background. Sound effects got a little repetitive.
Overall nice entry!
had situations were I had the $ and couldn't build the thing. the colors and flashing made it really hard to see what is happening. had some of the 'popup' walls smash one of my turrets.
definitely an interesting idea.
@jeremy-ryan yeah, I always thought I had enought time but it got kinda close so the sounds aren't that great!
@adroitconceptions walls smashing turrets is a feature, they kill enemies too so if you can predict where they spawn, you can destroy a group of enemies. The turrets can't be placed too close to each other (orange color).
Ok, interesting game, but the building are very very hard to actually build for whatever reason. Are they colliding with your footprints? Oh, and the boss guy somehow clipped his way on top the thing im supposed to defend and he got very hard to hit. Without its bugs, good game, but with them, slightly less good game. Good job though.
@musicblox thanks, I will fix the bugs after the rating weeks. I just got a little too big of a scope maybe so it was quite harsh on play testing. You, as always in the ladum dare...
Interesting game! I enjoyed it, though it took me a while to figure out the controls (I kept trying to figure out what key the search icon to open the builder referred to until I realized it was an upper case Q -.-)
@ordineu thanks for feedback! Maybe I should have used a different font... I think I did a good job having a seperate scene where you can explore so you got it eventually. Also, I put the controls in text on the page.
I really enjoy the design of the turrets in this game compared to most TD games, it feels like each turret has a unique role and that having a diverse network is better than just getting a bunch of whatever has the highest DPS.
@zerptin thank you so much!
Nice game! :clap:
I like this style.
But you need to change the sounds :sound:
@lomt1k I know, they were rushed and I just used the generator ladum dare website provides
Survived for 2:15. Nice!
@bry nice, my best is 3.25! But you have to get lucky with the map. I also know some code things one can exploit so yeah, you can try to beat me but I bet you wont -) Lol
The art of this game is really cool!welldoneοΌ
@appix thanks
My buildings got destroyed by the white wall :( Was fun, good work!
@appoxgames that was intended!
Pretty fun with laying down towers and destroying enemy's, but the gun fire sound effect started to grate on me a little bit.
Same as AppoxGames. My buildings were destroyed by the walls. Was real fun though. Managing buildings and shooting at the same time was pretty difficult. It would've been nice if there were definitive waves to plan out the base I wanted to build, however that depends on the experience you want to give the player too, because this was definitely immediately and continuously exhilarating. I really liked the walls moving and creating different cover for you to be behind, would be cool if they kept changing.
Boss was scary haha
@theseusinabottle yeah, I wanted to add a mute button but I sort of run out of time -) I know that it's quite annoying
@william-derksen yeah, I wanted it quite chaotic rather than strategic. The walls killing things are definitely something controversial but I added them to keep with the theme and have an empty battlefield at the beginning! Also, the walls kill enemies as well so if you can guess where they will spawn and place a dummy turret there for enemies to bunch up and get killed by the walls -)
Fun, hectic little tower defense type of game. Would've been nice to have waves and time to set up the area, though.
@6smith maybe. Some of my friends suggested this could be fun with co-op so maybe I will polish this up and trying implement that (I used Photon Bolt for networking before so maybe it could work) and some of the other suggestions such as yours!
Sound was a little hard on the ears with headphones as it was repetitive but otherwise awesome entry. It was fun and controls were good.
FYI the 'Q' I thought was a magnify glass for a second instead of a Q Key.
Awesome graphics and the shooting feels good. ps: totally agree with @winslow about the magnify glass thing.
@winslow definitely, a lot of others have mentioned that
Finally got around to trying your game after you played mine. It was a lot of fun! The particle effects and variety of enemies made it very satisfying to play. Well done!
As other have said the gun sounds can get a bit repetitive! Other than that it's a nice little tower defense game!
@zenpj @geoff-nagy thanks, I made a blog post where you can post your best time to see who can get the longest. if you want, you can try yourself out
Neat idea on the idea of changing terrain on a tower defense game! I totally missed the variety of towers during my first play through but upon my second run through being able to swap really helped me to survive longer. I also really like the sandbox level you give the player in to learn the controls.
The only criticism I have is that the visual and sound effects became a bit too intense over time but didn't make the game unplayable.
@calamador I think a bit too much effects is better than too little.
The game idea is fun and it fits the jam theme very well. For me the game was a bit too difficult, and i did never really learned how the building mode was suppose to work. Overall a okay little combo game.
This was fun but for me it took a while to master. I found myself in a frenzy of gunfire 2 seconds after starting the game :) Maybe you should turn down the intensity a notch in the beginning? I like the artstyle and the overall game mechanics. Shooting sound got annoying after a while. Oh, and my heart skipped a beat when a big dude with a club appeared :)
Cool game but i think "Damage" sound could be way more smooth. It was really pain for my ears.
I survived.
I really enjoyed the game! Graphics are amazing, building, shooting, menu(even a tutorial?), everything really, feels polished and well-done. One issue i ran into: around 2:20 there were LOTS of enemies and the browser almost freezed with all the guns&explosions going on. You might consider optimizing a bit! (ofc not expecting optimized game in 48hrs :D this is only if you want to move on with this)
Bravo!
The game is good and the mechanics are well polished. The bullet sound was a bit irritating hearing for a long time. Otherwise very polished game
Cool game, the bullet sound is a tad bit loud when you hear it repeatedly so many times. But great game!
Game looking really great, it is like Super Hot's tps version! Everyone mentioned the sound effects so i won't :smile: I love survival games and really enjoyed it. It feels so "complete" for a game made in 48 hours. Keep up the good work !
Interesting shooter and the mechanics work well. Blood and lighting is a bit much and makes things hard to see sometimes, I would also change the bullet sound :D
@marcin-j lol, just look at any other comment, all the same thing talking about sounds, adding waves and the lightings and particles
@attala dude, there is a literal lobby scene in the game so you can test out the controls! Then of course when you jump in, shit goes crazy. That was the intention!
@berkin "complete", lol. The many definitely doesn't fall into that category ππ
The difficulty ramped up a little too quick, so I always felt like I was on the back foot. That might've been what you were going for but it made it hard to get anything done as building doesn't pause and there's not much breathing space and I've got to keep an eye on my health and I've got to keep an eye on what I'm defending and etc. That said it's a really fun game, looks good, the changing environment is cool, and I really appreciate the tutorial room.
@keith-wang yeah I know, but I didn't want to use a different font. Wanted to stay consistent...
Graphics are really nice, and gameplay is solid. The way you implemented the tutorial was fantastic! Simple but solidly put together.
@infraxion thank you. I liked how the tutorial worked out too lol ππ
Making a 3d game this good is super hard, props to you my guy
@nachtwitch yeah, it was a bit of a hustle -)
Nice game, great graphics and sfx, nice idea, could do with music but overall was a nice experience and keep up the good work
Really enjoyed playing this. I thought a tweak to the controls might be to be able to select a building using the number keys rather than having to bring up a menu and click to go through each. Or have the scroll wheel scroll through without having to open the menu and a seperate build key to the attack one.
I saw a lot of bullet casings today :laughing: I didn't realise how important dummies are until my third run through!
@pavel-ivanov Really really good idea - I liked the combination of genres ... well executed
@kazatan yeah, dummies are really good because allies can shoot thought them while enemies will take forever to destroy. They are also cheap and o great with the healing turret
Awesome game, the SFX are more annoying than cool. Good Job!
Great job. Very fun top-down shooter mixed with tower defence
pretty good! I liked the building element added. When the huge pink dude showed up I was surprised :)
Great job tutorializing the gameplay in the opening menu. The wave really hits you from the get go, great job making this engaging.
Enjoyable game with beautiful graphics and fancy effects. Great job!
Has lots of potential. I found it hard to see the health bars with the bloom
Cool game, really fun. But those bullets man!
@abacus what about them?
The gameplay is really clean, I didn't notcie any bugs! You made a nice compo, well done !
I liked the game, the visual style, the idea. When there is a lot on the screen the sound can be bugged. One thing I liked was that you can test the game before you start to adapt to the controls. It's a good game. Keep it up!
Well Done! Game was fun to play and the sound effects were really well done. Congrats on completing the Compo.
It was like a fun twist on tower defense. I liked that tutorial mode. The model's animations looked really good. I couldn't always drop weapons even when I had the money though.
Well done.
@pincushion they have to be a certain distance away from each other, the color code for that case is orange and that's the circle around the turret when you are placing it!
Fun idea! I always love me a good Tower Defense game. I feel like if I had individual control over where walls could get placed, and maybe a 'next wave' counter so I have time to spend the money I earned and build strategies for the next wave! Lots of fun! Looking forward to more!
fast paced and i liked the tower defense aspect with top down. great work! and good job on the lighting. really nice shadows with the simple shapes
Super cool game but I just get bored with the constantly shooting sound.
Nice game that's well executed! I think I found a pretty good strategy: put one healer by the base, then go in circles putting cannons everywhere. I got to the 11 minute mark and it didn't seem to be getting any harder so I assume I could have just kept going forever lol. I did start to get some serious framerate stutter after several minutes (i7, GTX 1070 Ti, Chrome web build). Looks like you're spawning a ton of objects and never cleaning them up? There's many thousands of shells on the floor!
@frenchie yeah, maybe I need to clear them. Most people get to under 2 minutes. The game gets to its max difficulty at 2 minues so if you have a good efence premade it's not hard to keep going.
The sound needs work, very harsh.
Good game! fast paced and fun! the only drawback was the sound but overall good!
Great game and very fun to play, but I think you fell short on the theme.
Pretty innovative tower defence with nice graphics! But I think it's too shiny when you shoot
Damn boys! The aesthetic is well fitted, although you could improve the UI art and adding some visual feedback when the player receives damage, like changing the player color or a blink(in addition to the impact particles that you have), otherwise it's cool and fun. Congrats! :D
PS: The only bad thing is the shooting sfx, it's a bit annoying.
Thanks for the headphone warning, I got clubbed by a giant pink dude
Lots of fun! I loved the sound and the graphics, though the stacking gunshots did get pretty overwhelming after a few minutes.
Really fun gameplay and nice effects
Hey there! Just played your submissions. I survived for a little over 2 minutes the 3rd time around. Here are my thoughts:
π Things I liked about your submission: - Overall nice game - Nice theme integration :v:
π Things that could be improved: - Big dude with the club scared the fuck out of me - Difficultiy ramped up a bit to quick.
Other than that, great game! Keep on making games!
Make sure to go rate my submission as well! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/ld45-submission
i like how irreverent this game is to my processing power. lot of moving parts here pretty impresvi
Really fun, the bullet flash made it a bit hard to see but other than that great job!
Played it the first time and survived for 59 seconds, felt it was pretty hard and then when i was gonna go for round 2. Good execution, Fast paced action, challenging or hard as well. Audio can use some work. Overall good game!
Cool game. Would be nice if you managed to add pause while buying, at least for a couple seconds to take a breath. Game can get intensive fast ;)
Great job! Cheers!
Game is hard! I survived for about 1:15 on my first attempt. I found it too hectic trying to build and defend at the same time. Also, sometimes I had difficulty trying to place buildings. Regardless, great game!
I think the game is really fun and certainly has a lot of strategy to it but I think the audio of this game is very bad. Not the sound effects themselves but simply how many gunshots there are at the same time. Maybe that can be toned down a bit. Still I thought the game was very fun.
I'm really impressed you were able to make this all in 48 hours! The core mechanics feel great. The shooting and building work super well, and I'm impressed how easily you integrated being able to switch between the two. The range of buildings was also really cool - I felt like I actually had a use for all of them (and was disappointed when the big pink guy clubbed my healer I had just laid).
I think the audio is a bit much - not that there shouldn't be sound effects for shooting (the opposite), but the current ones just feel overwhelming and detract a bit. It would also be nice if there was more of an indicator when you or an enemy get hit - maybe a bit of flashing or something. It was really hard for me to see health bars sometimes because of everything going on.
Overall, this was a really awesome game. I'm definitely impressed. Well done!
Really cool game! Loved the style and polished controls. The only issue I had was with the sounds. Other than that, solid entry!
Congratulations for making this game ! The game is really hard but I loved it ! I liked the feeling of the weapon and the evolutive world. The audio was a bit irritating and stressful.
Nice combo between survival and tower defense. First I thought it was way too easy until I realized I was just shooting down people in the menu screen, haha. Nice work implementing all the mechanics. The massive enemy scared me from being huge. I survived for about two minutes, probably not the best of scores =)
I really appreciate how there is an tutorial room to allow the player to be comfortable with the game before starting the real game. Made the game a lot more enjoyable as I was able to learn things at my own pace rather than scramble to not lose immediately. Core concept of the game is straightforward and effective. The addition of walls as your progress is also great. I think my only criticism would be to add a visual indicator of getting hit (maybe a red screen flash). I also think de-spawning the bullets on the ground at a faster rate would be good.
Overall Nice!
nice entry! love the pop-up walls and the big guy. It's really funny.
Great job with the game! :) I'd work on the SFX, however. The shooting sounds are very painful to listen to in headphones.
Had some bad moments playing with headphones, some adjustments on the pitch and volume of the lasers sfxs could be great!
@danilo-freire haha, I know, look at any other comment! Also, in the description I added a recommendation to play without headphones. lol
After 2 minutes it just becomes pure chaos :rofl: Is there anyway to build more than 2 buildings? It was a fun concept of tower defense where you actually move around and defend the tower instead of just building. I love it! Good job.
@hcursino yes, I didn't teach it too well but you need to make sure the radius around the tower doesnt have any other buildings with in it! So when the tower is orange that means that you have the money but the location is too close to another turret
Nice Reminded me of Orcs Must Die with the mix of tower defence and shooter. Amazing that you managed to do all those models, animations and gameplay wihtin 48 hours. The controlls felt a bit clunky, but that is understandable considering the time constraints and the amount of mechanics you implemented within that time. Good Job :)
nice dude but i killed them esily make them run at me and shoot thats better but its nice
@karrar-home-student I don't understand what you mean?
Feels like a cool concept but I couldn't figure out how to build things albeit the big text saying building mode
i mean can you make them shoot at the player
This is a really fun concept! I played this one a few times to see how far I could get. I think there is a lot of potential here. It felt as though the enemies were coming too quickly in the beginning to really set up any sort of defenses, and the towers died a little too quickly. I was constantly trying to rebuild them which became a little frustrating. A little balancing on this though and I can see this being really great! Nice job!
Great idea, i have fun played your game! Probably i'd work with sound a bit more to make it less noizy. Thanks!
There was only one shooting sound, which got tiring real quick, adding some variation goes a long way. Otherwise, great job! Loved the models and animation.
The audio was a bit annoying after some time, and the enemies start coming really fast. I did like the gameplay ideas, reminds me of Sanctum, if you've played that before. Overall I think that I can see the core of a really interesting game that's really just held back by time, which makes total sense in a game jam. Good work!
Idea is executed well, what I didnt like is that space taken up by dummies doesnt allow me to put cannons around it, meaninng that guys usually penetrate the cannon first if they come from specific directions, which really makes the game after 4 minutes difficult to beat. but overall for a compo game this is really good
