LD45 — Start with nothing

The Journey with Her by cirno 2019-10-16T02:28:34Z

Amazing puzzle game. Loved the mechanics and abilities of each character. The graphics and showing which character was active was great. Overall I really enjoyed this game and brought back memories of playing portal 2 co-op. I'd encourage you to continue this game it could be a great game. The only down mark I have is the audio/music. I applaud you for what you created during the short duration but I grew tired of the repetitiveness of it and I muted my sound around the 4th or 5th level. Additional work on the audio would help pull the game together. I really hope to see this to a full game. The story was great too. Text a little hard to read but otherwise amazing job!

World Collector by Joe Williamson 2019-10-10T02:48:55Z

Amazing all around. Great work. I would encourage you to turn this into a full game.

EEPROM by bentglasstube 2019-10-16T03:00:07Z

Got into an infinite loop on level 2. Use 5 Nop 1 Mov. Also no way I found to reset a level when I've messed it up so you have to refresh in order to keep playing but that resets to level 1.

Instructions weren't clear what each command did so I struggled to understand exactly what I was programming and thus used trial and error but then when I failed I couldn't reset the level.

Overall fun game but a little frustrating as it wasn't 100% clear how the commands worked and specificially the timing.

Edit: Now I see the instructions on this page. You should add them to the game intro so players know.

Gravity Fusion by Steffo 2019-10-08T18:21:50Z

Awesome game! Really love the added and unexpected humour in the 2nd (?) to last super particle really made me laugh!

I got it to cap out at a mass of 1M. Some performance hits once I started spamming particles everywhere.

Scrap Time by auxC 2019-11-02T17:50:50Z

Awesome game with incredible polish was a ton of fun! I'd highly encourage you to make this into a full game! Great job on LD45

Star Battle by microwerx 2019-10-16T02:48:56Z

Fun game with great music. The physics were great. I found it really fun but the novelty ran out after the gold atoms started dying after being depleted. It then became very hard to get the last remaining atoms and became less fun during that time.

Chomp.io by ghostmaple 2019-10-15T20:59:42Z

Fun game. Hitbox issues but other good. The progression from small to big character could/should be drawn out. Otherwise you're the biggest character on the map within 15 seconds.

Monster herding by Ryu 2019-10-07T04:23:43Z

@ryu I can't seem to get it to play properly. Here's a screen cap. I click build turret and I select a bullet type but nothing happens. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgq0hTgzmeA

The Card Crafter by Grhyll 2019-10-08T19:39:10Z

Really enjoyed this turn based game! Everything was well built out with the power ups and the card buffing etc.

Server Error by FreypodGames 2019-10-15T20:55:18Z

Good idea but unclear on certain things. The text was hard to read and I couldn't find a place to determine what my current money balance was at the time. The other issue I had is I would create 2 videos one after another and then go to upload them but it would only upload the last one made. Potentially eating into my money balance (but again I couldn't find where that balance was).

With some additional polish and clarity it could be a fun game.

Palely by Fluffy_Kaeloky 2019-10-28T05:33:06Z

Loved it was a little unsure of how to play in the beginning and that was frustrating and almost quit but glad I kept playing as it was very enjoyable.

FYI on Linux Mint I had issues where I couldn't pick up the letters or interact with the scene. Worked fine on Windows 7 though.

Last Goodbyes by chawls_v 2019-10-06T23:52:10Z

I really enjoyed this. As I write this it brings tears to my eyes so you did amazing on the mood. The last year has been relatively tough as well with my grandma passing away and a few other things. This game in a way brought a small amount of closure or calmness.

The visuals and music we're great too! Well done all around.

Lovely World by Johan Alexandersson 2019-10-09T23:20:23Z

Overall enjoyed the game. The graphics, sounds and mechanics were great!

I had a few frustrations in the first level due to where I placed my initial wood plank it meant I didn't have the extra one I needed to complete the level and I couldn't pick up an existing plank to reuse. Character moved to slowly for my liking and thus I got bored while waiting for the character to walk across the map.

Yogurt's Quest by Aurailus 2019-10-07T00:37:37Z

Beginning was confusing. Wasn't clear what I was suppose to do with falling star section. So I kept running into the big stars thinking that was taking me to another world. Like @gerugames mentioned once I tried surviving it lasted a bit long for my taste.

Framerate was sporadic during the falling star section and platformer. Sometimes it would be really fast and others it would crawl. This was on a decent desktop in Firefox. The jumping didn't feel natural and felt to short on the jump. It made jumps that I would have expected to clear very difficult and frustrating.

I think with some polish to improve performance and controls with clarification in the beginning for the falling star section it could be an enjoyable game. Some fitting music would really help pull the mood together for the starry platformer.

Rickity Rails by winslow 2019-10-07T03:57:45Z

@william-derksen The goal is to launch the train with the proper amount of speed so it can stop in time at the station. To much speed and it will overshoot it's destination to little and it won't make it.

Unfortunately no way to restart it working on fixing that.

Rickity Rails by winslow 2019-10-07T05:11:34Z

@william-derksen and @nachtwitch I fixed it so now it reloads after a success or failure. The web version is the most current: https://uecasts.com/files/rickity-rails-ld45/

Rebuilding the standalone windows app now.

Rickity Rails by winslow 2019-10-07T23:38:55Z

@jk5000 totally agree. It was a mad dash to get everything done in time for the compo submission.

Tonight and tomorrow I'm going to put together an additional level or two and make it playable outside of the compo rating.

Nothing On Frontlines by Pavel Ivanov 2019-10-07T04:15:37Z

Sound was a little hard on the ears with headphones as it was repetitive but otherwise awesome entry. It was fun and controls were good.

FYI the 'Q' I thought was a magnify glass for a second instead of a Q Key.

Nothing To The Moon by badoomtch 2019-10-07T00:03:11Z

Loved the sound effects! Great comedic timing. At first I was confused what the game was in "zone 1" where you hop on the platform but I quickly understood it after that! I really liked your usage of the theme. Nothing to something!

Great job!

OH GOD! by SideKick 2019-10-08T19:24:34Z

Graphics were good theme was good.

Platforming controls were clunky and I kept getting the feeling of it doing what I didn't want it to do which is frustrating and thus I stopped playing after falling off the same platform a couple times.

Here is a good interview where Tommy Refenes discusses how he programed the controls for super meat boy (timestamp at 43:53) https://youtu.be/QVpSIdWE0do?t=2633

OH GOD! by SideKick 2019-10-09T00:36:49Z

@sidekick yup no worries. Amazing start and great first game. It's a massive hurdle to get something submitted. This is my first time sucessfully submitting something. Don't take it as discouragement more just giving detailed feedback to hopefully build upon for the next one!

Great work!

Super Goat Life by Olivier argentieri 2019-10-09T00:29:16Z

Played this for a solid 10-15 minutes. Really enjoyed it but couldn't find the hidden one. Note: You may want to create a death box so if the user does get out of the map they die and reset. Is the hidden one related to the big burger? You also made me kill all the bats looking for the secret ability. I found some plain white sphere but didn't do anything.

Great game I feel the directions and encouragement of what the player should be doing has room for improvement.

Robo-Fort by geoff.nagy 2019-10-08T20:05:45Z

Awesome game. Controls were hard to use and my robot was sliding all over the place. I also found it more beneficial to hit the robots with my own robot instead of place boxes since I didn't take any damage. Controls made me slowly give up.

Build up Speed by CantThinkOfName 2019-10-07T05:08:16Z

I like the concept. Was a little bored in the first 2 training sessions but that's life. This game teaches you much like game jams that you don't win the race without training & learning.

I think some little animated sprites running would be a great addition and help polish the game.

Collect Recyclables by possatti 2019-10-08T18:49:32Z

Overall I really liked the idea and game. Especially with the recent closure of rePlanet recycling in California we all need to do our part of reduce, reuse, recycle. I played the web version (Firefox) and came across graphic performance problems of stuttering which made the game jarring to play. I also got the character to go backwards through the level which was cool.

Really enjoyed it. Great entry!

LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep IT alive by KebabuTurka 2020-05-02T07:00:04Z

Absolutely loved this game!

Initially I failed quite a bit as I built out conveyor belts and didn't realize the programmers could pull off the conveyor belts from the side (potentially due to the IN/OUT arrows at the mouth of the programmer cubicle. Then I didn't have enough resources to finish off the data center. A nice feature could be to get some resources back for when you delete an existing building/item to avoid the issue when you're just learning.

Again awesome game really enjoyed it!

9Lives by Tec 2020-04-21T07:43:43Z

Was fun starting out but after a couple times of getting to a certain part of the game and having the kitty walk off the edge and having to start the level over again lost the appeal for me.

Hope by Darylsteak 2020-04-21T07:59:32Z

Great visuals, sound, story! Overall really enjoyed this game. The final puzzle ruined it a bit due to the issues in trigger finger reaction's needed vs game mechanics.

Overall great game. I recorded & uploaded my raw play through of it here: https://youtu.be/KYcnqhc-tD0 Hopefully it will give you some ideas about how a player plays the game and what they struggle with etc.

Mascota Joy by winslow 2020-06-11T06:38:16Z

Thanks everyone for playing Mascota Joy. I hope everyone had a great LDJam!

AMBER by cakts 2020-04-21T07:55:24Z

Overall great game. Tree and walking hit boxes were a tad annoying not a huge deal. The sound effects especially the freezing sound when you died were really good. I enjoyed playing it!
