This was an interesting concept. pretty great execution of it as well. it did however take me a moment to realize what the goal was.

All in all, great job. Keep up the good work and I hope to see you in the next Dare!

Was fun starting out but after a couple times of getting to a certain part of the game and having the kitty walk off the edge and having to start the level over again lost the appeal for me.

hanyzpapu 2020-04-21 07:51

An interesting game, but it's really hard to control (the vacuum scares the cat way far and you can't see where it went) and I haven't been able to exit your game in other way than ALT + F4

isaiah 2020-04-21 07:55

Neat concept, but the gameplay was not very intuitive. Found it difficult to use the controls and the text on the background was a bit difficult to read when it was out of the camera. It was difficult figuring out what to do at first, as in I didn't realize the point was to lead the cat to the other end at first. I think including a brief tutorial would really help a lot of these issues. Cool game!

the-jahn 2020-04-21 08:16

Fun mechanics, used punishingly. :stuck_out_tongue:

I enjoyed coaxing the cat around, but it did get a bit too difficult for me around level 4. Level 3 was a huge spike, once you took off the railings the cat would wander off the edge. I didn't really have time to play with the mechanics at that point.

With some more relaxed level design, this could be a great game!

btw sidenote i also made a game about abusing cats so respect :fist_tone1:

That poor kitty!! Cute game overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice graphics and music too.

thedoctoroftime 2020-04-22 05:05

Im really dumb and can't play it properly but it's really fun skskskskssk

ponypen 2020-04-22 05:11

Hahaha cute game! I love the kitty noises and music. I think perhaps you could have the camera zoomed out a little, so when the kitty is scared by the vacuum you can see where he runs off to as that is a little manic at the moment! I agree a brief tutorial would also be beneficial to gameplay.

auburgo 2020-04-22 13:33

Music is on point! I found the vacuum cleaner to be my item of choice to push the kitty where i want him to go. Never really used the food apart from level 1. There is quite some content in your entry tho! If i played through all 9 levels i'd still be here tomorrow hahaha. Still a funny game that fits the theme well!

khud0 2020-04-22 14:30

What a cool way to control a cat!

barney25052 2020-04-22 14:54

Good game, I like the use of sprites in a 3d world.

guntainment 2020-04-24 08:18

Really good game I liked the graphics and the way you had to move the cat was just great

mlho7 2020-04-24 08:27

Concept is cool, ideas too, really nice.

smirnov48 2020-04-24 16:28

Nice game. Very hard in begining. Music is awesome.

kris-casimir 2020-04-25 03:36

Interesting game! The graphics and music were both good. I loved the look of the levels and the movement of the main character felt very smooth. I kept forgetting which key was for which item. I'm a little sad that the cat had to be portrayed as so dumb to make the story work.

mehrdadsh 2020-04-25 13:55

Hello, just saw your game, nice graphics. I'm a programmer looking for a graphic designer or a team to join and maybe work on new games, are you interested? email:m.shahiri.m@gmail.com my LudumDare Game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/social-distancing-for-ladybugs

can't get enough of that purring sounds

milano23 2020-04-25 16:48

Cool concept. Art went well with the game. The music was nice and increased the anxiousness of getting the cat to its location. Good job.

louis-mareau 2020-04-26 22:30

Cool game guys ! I liked where you took the theme and gave it a story. The art was very enjoyable though I would have loved to have a few animations on the main character and/or the cat (since they both were the main gameplay characters). I think there is still a bit more work to do on the controls, making them more responsive and tight.

Good jam entry and hope you guys had fun making this game !

saltfactory-studio 2020-04-28 03:50

First level took some time figuring out, even though the goal is to get the cat to the gate. It's great that there's story behind this. Really love the cut out graphic, it has a very unique look to it. Cool game! The UI text are a bit blurry though.

eran-haas 2020-04-28 11:31

Creative design and some cool art, and such nice cat purrs.

I found the text kind of hard to read on the web version.

eran-haas 2020-04-28 11:33

The game is running in the background while I am typing and I just love the good cat noise, might just leave it open.

zillix 2020-04-29 05:36

Fun music, really liked the idea and loooved the visuals! I did wish that the abilities started off cooldown whenever I restarted a level. I had a lot of fun with the game, great work!

jaywoody 2020-04-29 16:05

Cool mechanics and a cute cat! I was kinda lousy at playing it, though. I got through the 3 level, but had difficulties on the 4th. I liked the atmosphere and the story you had there. The movement and the abilities worked nicely. Solid entry! Good job!

techsec 2020-04-29 23:09

This game made me angry in a good way, a getting over it kinda of way. It was tough but I got the fecking cat to the mountain. Good game for I felt much acomplished in that feat.

meelo 2020-04-30 00:13

This is a really unique submission - I love the graphical style and the narrative is excellent (even if I had to load the levels from the main menu since I couldn't beat most). The concept is really neat too - having indirect control over a kitty through a few objects. The music is really outstanding - easily the best I've heard in all the games I've rated. I found the gameplay fairly frustrating though - I felt invested in the game, but couldn't make it past the fourth level after many attempts - and it felt like there was a lot of luck involved. I think, largely, my troubles came from not being able to see enough about the game state - for instance, it was difficult to tell the depth of my character, which made it hard to know if I was lined up with the kitty - and the vague nature of the sprite suited the ghost vibes, but practically, it made it difficult to know when to jump. It was also hard to see enough of the level whenever the kitty needed to jump. I think these are all reasonably easy to improve - just adding a shadow or some visual indicator of the player's position would help a lot. You might consider even just letting the player float around without needing to jump - it seems that the strength of this game is in getting the kitty to move around, and forcing the player to also jump around is actually detracting from this strength. It could also help to allow the player to get a bigger picture view of the level - either by letting them see it ahead of time or adding a map or making the perspective more vertical and more zoomed out (there's a lot of ways to go about it). It'd also be nice if the kitty was a bit more still or at least had greater warning before moving - it was troublesome when the cat moved suddenly before vacuuming, but losing this way didn't feel like it was the player's fault. I think that there's a real lot of potential in this game - and I would be very interested in seeing it improved with more polished gameplay, since everything else about this game is so solid. Despite my troubles with the controls, I enjoyed this a lot as it is - and I hope that you all will consider developing it further and getting the gameplay to feel as good as everything else. Nicely done.

Really cool, unique concept and well executed. I loved how you maintained the theme in terms of graphics and items and such. The graphics were cool as well. I also liked the soundtrack and appreciated the sound effects you put in. Helped a lot to create the general mood. The items and their powers complement each other very well. It really shows how much thought you put into the game design. Great job!

I had some problems in the third level to get the cat jumps lined up correctly. I thought I was standing right behind the cat but then it jumped at an angle and always fell to it's death. That was a but frustrating, especially because you have to tediously get it back to the spot again, only to fluke the jump... again.

All in all, well thought out game with cool unique mechanics. Awesome!

thibaud-ligneul 2020-04-30 21:10

Good game. Nice graphics and writing. The transparent protagonist is a good idea to see where the cat is going. It was definitively hard to keep it alive! Congrats on pulling a game out with this much people!

kaeveris 2020-05-02 09:03

Cool idea with original concept! I like how the player is transparent to better see what's happening with the cat. The cat is cute and make cute sounds. Sometimes it's a bit hard to see where exactly the kitty should jump, I think adding shadows might improve it
