LD46 — Keep it alive

UhUhUhUh Staying Alive by Josh Ayres 2020-04-25T00:23:42Z

Cool little game guys ! I had a hard time doing everything at the same time but like the concept

I like the mix between "Keep it alive" and "Staying alive". Smart choice !! Cool jam entry overall

Repair-bot Rodeo by ectucker1 2020-04-29T17:59:03Z

This was a pretty good game (reminded me a lot of FTL, which was probably the main inspiration for this game) but I was quite confused at the beginning. Even though I was told what to do, I was confused on how to repair (figured out how after a couple minutes eventually).

Desert Decryptor by homeworld 2020-04-22T22:12:18Z

Very nice game guys !

Loved the puzzle side of the game a lot. Made me think enough to care about what to give that poor alien. Graphics were great. Also liked the backstory at the beginning. That was a nice touch!

Great music choice too !

One of the drawbacks for me was the theme. I didn't really feel like I was keeping the poor alien alive but more helping him. I took my time fetching the furniture he needed to power-up its ship but never felt the rush of anything. Adding a timer of some type of countdown would have probably help on that side.

Helicopter M.O.M. by Evan Minto 2020-05-06T06:19:09Z

Great mini-game ! I was terrible at splitting my attention. Died so many times falling into a hole... You succeeded very well the split controls and overall gameplay. It is quite well balanced but just wished there was some background music accompanying the game. Also, I found out that the keyboard inputs for movement (arrow keys) had that gravity to it (momentum) that could have been good to remove to improve precision.

But overall, that was a great jam entry !

Keep It Alive top-down shooter by kkrac 2020-04-22T21:32:51Z

Cool mini-game, fun to play !

First of all, loved the "HP is your Ammo" mechanic ! That was a cool concept to go with (sadly not too original...) but you nailed it !! And it fits the theme, so... congrats !

The music, despite being frantically cool, suddenly stopped a few time before starting all over. If it was the end of the soundtrack, it would have been cool to loop it :) I didn't think the controls were that bad. Though, I don't think the choice of having a square collider collide with the inside of a circle collider was a good idea. When reaching the poles, both vertices from the square were colliding with the circle, making it impossible to move unless going back towards the center. To remedy to this problem, or all characters should be circles or just remove the ring :)

Overall, this was a great entry and a good execution of the theme.

9Lives by Tec 2020-04-26T22:30:36Z

Cool game guys ! I liked where you took the theme and gave it a story. The art was very enjoyable though I would have loved to have a few animations on the main character and/or the cat (since they both were the main gameplay characters). I think there is still a bit more work to do on the controls, making them more responsive and tight.

Good jam entry and hope you guys had fun making this game !

Salad Days 2: Pipe Dream by HarveyU 2020-04-22T21:14:44Z

"Very relaxing entry but maybe a bit too much..."

First of all, great music! That really sets the mood for the game: no rushing, you're here to build a pipe system and you got all the time in the world to do it. Also loved the "pick up and set down" pipes mechanics. It always felt good to do it, even after 10-15 minutes. Graphics were great and loved that huge tower design.

Couple things would have been great to implement in my opinion. First, a sprint/run mechanic. I know we're not rushing but there is a lot of back-and-forth to do so we see a lot of the same scenery all the time. A way to accelerate this process would have been awesome. Finally, maybe different shapes for the pipes would have been good to add. Around the 3rd/4th cage, it started feeling like a job to do, more than playing a game. That would also improve the puzzle mechanic which would have been great.

Overall, great entry and very nice concept !!

Don't Let The Party Die by inacho_ 2020-05-12T19:15:25Z

I really enjoyed this game ! The concept was nice, the art was great, nice balancing (got quite hard after level 5 since I started getting the pace from the beginning). I just wish the movements were a bit more snappy and know what has colliders or not.

Overall, this was a great entry :)

Scrap Cargo by shadow30 2020-04-22T20:45:32Z

Great game! Best score was 100,000+ points (no idea if that's good though...) Loved the music and the art. The survival side was quite harsh and got frustrated with the laser beam (maybe the fire rate was too slow??) and had a hard time killing the suicidal pirate ships :(

I did think the issues coming up on the ship was quite well balanced and never got too many things to do at the same time. Good job on that!

Great jam entry guys :)

Sacred Guard by larsspawn 2020-04-28T04:31:07Z

Great game overall !

First of all, I liked the soundtrack (literally stuck in my head for an hour after playing) and the visuals. It looks good and feels good but it isn't without flaws.

I think you could easily add more visual feedback. Here is a few things that you could add to improve it: - Health bar on top (or around, or anywhere else...) on the enemies. - A written level (or different kind of indication [maybe change of sprite??]) over the towers so we know what level each are after upgrading them.

Also, I will not list the bugs because other people did but it wasn't too bad for me. Try also balancing the overall gameplay (maybe amount of currency earn after each kill can increase depending on the wave??) and of course, limit a maximum amount of turrets

Otherwise, it was a fun mini-game. I had fun playing it and hope you had fun making it!

One last thing: for this kind of mini-game (that doesn't require too much performance), try exporting it to WebGL (HTML 5) so there isn't any download necessary. It is always faster and I know many people tends to avoid downloading every game.

Scare Your Pants Off! by wallyfoo 2020-04-28T04:42:01Z

What a fun jam entry !

I really liked the art style and the music was perfectly fitting. I had a few bugs but I won't go through them since they have already been developed in the reviews ahead

If the game gets a little fix, I'll definitely come back and try it again!

No Time to EGGsplain by NyanYann 2020-04-23T16:55:27Z

Got to level 6 after a lot of tries but very fun and great mini-game ! Fits the theme well and has good replayability. Would definitely see a game like this on the app store :)

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Fish'o'gram by Amolker 2021-05-05T19:17:50Z

Really well done guys. One of the most polished games I have seen so far. Mechanics are great and well implemented, overall content of the game is more than I expected for a game jam, it plays beautifully in browser and didn't encounter any bug during my playthrough.

Excellent jam entry guys and congrats!

Drill City by honzapat 2021-05-05T15:07:16Z

I really liked the ambiance you gave to the game, I found it very relaxing and just like another comment, felt more like a cozy puzzle game than a management game. The voxel art is very fresh and works great in this kind of games. The voice acting was a good touch as well. Was it me or did the first power plant game me a lot more energy than the next two ones ? (might just be me :))

27500m drop by Szkocka 2021-05-05T18:18:21Z

That was fun! After a first try that clipped me outside the hole and get the top score while just watching the giant grey cylinder passing by, I tried again and died. Then died again (poor me) and then got a lot further. The controls felt a bit junky at first (like too much sensitivity, maybe) but got used to it quickly.

Great entry for the jam. Great job!

Mad on a motobike by Sigo 2021-04-28T21:50:45Z

Thank you all for the kind comments and remarks.

Effectively, hanging at the top (or bottom) of the screen wasn't planned and we will make sure to release one last patch that will fix as much bugs as we can, while trying to smooth the experience.

Mad on a motobike by Sigo 2021-05-14T23:20:20Z

Thanks to all for playing and giving such good feedback. We really enjoyed working on this one. First time also for one of our teammates programming in c# in Unity

@marc-grabow So, the thing is: there is something catching up to you as time goes by when your speed gets slower or you hit rocks but with the time constrain, we didn't have time to balance it so if you have a good run for a while, it takes a long time for the entity to catch up with you. But you will eventually see it. This will definitely need some more balancing work  ...maybe for a finale post-jam update...?

The Plummet by cakts 2021-05-05T14:29:26Z

Except for the tile colliders where I would sometime get stuck, this is an excellent entry for this jam with a very solid concept that ties to the theme perfectly! Great job :)

Mindmess by Triton 2021-05-04T23:51:07Z

OMG I killed the dog...

Very cool game ! Mechanics are strong, art is very good (love the pixelated style) and hands down for integrating some story elements in such a short amount of time!

Very nostalgic of the good ol' Touhou
