Cool game! The concept and the graphics are great, and I like how M.O.M tells him to when to jump, that was a nice touch. Good work!
Also, don't forget to play other people's games! :)
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD46 → Helicopter M.O.M.

@pretzol Thanks for the feedback! I’ve been busy the past few days but definitely planning on carving out a bunch of time to play other people's games.
Really good idea! it requires you to multitask which makes for an interesting learning curve...! really cute look and i love that the little bot tells the other when to jump! really nice effort
I like the idea to control the helicopter and give instruction (jump) to robot. Whatch two characters is little bit tricky but fun  With more sound design, and graphics (background and decorative elements), the game will be more intense.
Good work.
I think that this game, while just a combination of two common other games, managed to pull both off pretty well together. I appreciated the fact that you couldn't really cheese the game by keeping your drone in one spot due to the spikes, and there were enough targets to constantly make me forget to jump until I manged to split my attention better. Unfortunately I wish that the drone movement was a bit slower or more easily controlled as most of my deaths were due to the drone overshooting where it wanted to go, or overcompensating and not getting to where it was needed in time. Additionally, while constantly holding down the fire button was the best strategy, I found myself not doing so just due to the repeated loud shooting sound. Other things that could have been nice would be a high score for distance traveled or more platforms for the robot to jump on, but the game felt pretty complete even without anything else. Great job!
Nice work! I like your interpretation of the theme, and the idea of controlling both the helicopter and the person. It took me a bit to get used to doing both at the same time (I kept forgetting to jump over things), but once I did it was really fun!
Great mini-game ! I was terrible at splitting my attention. Died so many times falling into a hole... You succeeded very well the split controls and overall gameplay. It is quite well balanced but just wished there was some background music accompanying the game. Also, I found out that the keyboard inputs for movement (arrow keys) had that gravity to it (momentum) that could have been good to remove to improve precision.
But overall, that was a great jam entry !
I like the idea of controlling different characters at once but I just could not get my head around the controls! It felt like the action where you have to tap your head and rub your tummy at the same time! Good solo entry :)
really good game and incredibly challenging! I found splitting my concentration between the robot or the helicopter was a real struggle. I'd either forget to jump or forget to shoot the enemies in time. Otherwise i enjoyed it!
This is super unique and a really cool way to make a platformer. This has all the makings of a great LD game, only missing music. The little robot dude has so much personality in just the simple talk bubble that you gave him. This game has a lot of potential to be expanded on and I hope you continue making great games like this!
Nice game! I think it was a good take on theme, as you were not aiming to keep yourself alive (like you already do in pretty much all games), but someone/something else.
One thing i stumbled upon was that i held down the shift key to shoot, which meant that when i reached the win screen (i assume it was the win screen?), the game instantly restarted and i couldn't read anything.
I like the audio design, especially the metallic sound when hitting the invurnerable spike thingies.
Overall, good game!
Nice game! I like the multitasking. I think the controls for M.O.M could be tightened up a bit, but other than that, great game!
I had a lot of fun. Maybe the difficulty ramps up a little steep at some point. I was proud I made it so far and suddenly there was no way to beat the game anymore :D. Also I would get rid of all the randomness in the game. It does not add anything to the fun level for me and there are a lot of situations that seem just unfair. All in all a great title :).
@invixel IIRC the “win screen” is just the title screen, but good point!
@unfinished Not sure what you mean about randomness. It’s not procedurally generated — all the enemies were placed by me. Or do you mean that there are just too many enemies near the end and it got too chaotic?
Hi, its pretty difficult game, but a good entry! I guess you run of of time to apply some background music? It would be lovely!
That was really hard to keep focus on both and remember what jumped and what shot. I think it would have been nice if it started out a little bit slower and easier so you didn't need to do too much at the same time in the beginning. Fun idea though!
Good work for not having used Unity in a while! Multitasking both characters at the same time was really hard. Wish the shoot button wasn't shift so sticky keys didn't get activated a bunch. At least I could hold shift the whole time and just focus on the other keys, but it made the game a little harder.
Wow, that plays surpassingly well together.
I find myself wishing for controller support, but I'm not sure that would really do anything to help wit my abysmal run length. Great job!
its nice, It would be nice if you changed the firing control a little, good job!
neat tricky concept, i especially like that you can bodyblock shots with MOM and not get a game over.
Splitting up the tasks between platformer and shooter proved to be rather difficult since the activity of the two are frequently very far apart from each other. For the shooter sections, for example, I'm paying attention to the right side of the screen so I can see where the enemies are coming from. The platforming, on the other hand, happens on the left side of the screen. It'd be kind of cool if the jumping was more of a quick-time event with a significantly wider window of error than what we have. Checkpoints would have also been nice. Otherwise, I felt like beating the game relied less on skill, and more on rote memorization not unlike rhythm games.
@omiya-games Oh hey Taro, it’s been a while! Thanks for the feedback. I didn't leave myself enough time to tweak the jump physics or add checkpoints, but both of those would definitely have helped a lot.
omg, this makes my brain burn. I like the idea of controlling two things at the same time, but my multitasking brain just couldn't do it. Nice graphics, Good job!
