LD33 — You are the Monster

Abduction by Keon 2015-09-07T19:35:00

Good job! Just out of curiosity, is it possible to abduct every human in a level?

Beast Of The Woods by AgentParsec 2015-09-12T20:21:00

I like how the pixilated arms rise up when you get close to a human.

Earth Was a Bad Choice by zatyka 2015-09-05T23:15:00

This is one of the few level-based games where I thought the levels were balanced well. It took me a while to figure out I had to go towards the ship at the end, I had thought I was just going to ride the nukes to space and go home that way.

Something deep by General 2015-09-13T16:02:00

I really liked the tentacle idea. I know its already been said but it would be nice to be able to release a tentacle that is attached to something early, and I really wanted to play with all of the tentacles and have a boss or something that required all of them to kill.

Pinky's Nightmare by zenmumbler 2015-09-07T18:35:00

I kind of liked how there were multiple stationary cameras. The only thing this needs is creepy music and maybe a minimap? If you do put a minimap I think it should be small so that you can't see the whole maze, and ghosts and keys shouldn't show up on it. Just to make it easier to get back to the starting point.

They Call Us Monsters by TakeNapEveryday 2015-08-25T01:43:00

Good for the theme. I wish there was more though.

Lil' Drake by bombjack 2015-09-06T13:17:00

You should turn this into a mobile game! The only thing it needs is sound.

From SLIME to KING by Druid 2015-09-12T12:19:00

Good Job. On level 1 I spawned in a pit that was WAY to high to jump out of. It was a single block wide and I couldn't see the top even when I jumped as high as I could.

M.A.D (Monsters Against Do-Gooders) by Fallenthief 2015-09-07T19:13:00

Nice game. At the end I had more money than I could do anything with and I had filled all of my defense spots with skeletons and goblins. I would be nice to be able to buy more spots for defenses.

PokEscape: Magicrap's Stealthy Journey for Survival & Gyrodeuce by Tuism 2015-09-07T23:06:00

I liked the idea having to hide in the grass and eat it to stay alive. It's a little too easy though, because you can just run right through eating all the grass you come in and dodging the pokeballs.

Mr. Yeti's Fast Food by Balzaque 2015-09-08T01:15:00

The windows version is missing an executable...

Monster Truck Story by godjammit 2015-08-26T02:23:00

I like the floor shattering. Good Job!

Dial M for Monster by AAGH Games 2015-08-25T22:15:00

Good idea with the words for objects.

Angry Bull by Maxxim 2015-08-25T00:41:00

Just looking at the description I wouldn't think it would be very good, but its actually pretty fun.

Opportunity Cost by BlockyFish 2015-08-25T02:43:00

Nice idea, but the events happen a little to often.

Release The Kraken by AndyGates 2015-08-25T01:56:00

Nice game. It was hard to get used to the controls, but once you do its a really good game.

Dream by pixzleone 2015-09-06T12:44:00

Good job. It's a little short, but a good concept.

Dis-o-rder by squirrelbot 2015-09-07T22:52:00

Knowing the theme kind of made the ending predictable. Good story!

Ghosts by Roboboy 2015-09-06T13:08:00

I really liked the idea of it in the description, but the game isn't really interesting. Good job for learning to use game maker quick enough to enter something!

Buddies for Baldwin by weirdway 2015-09-06T13:02:00

It took me a while to realize that I had to wait until the villagers passed the sign or rock to keep them from running away, but otherwise good job!

Many Jumping Men Are Coming by tullyhansen 2015-08-25T01:47:00

Fun little game. Its a little hard though.

Ev0L by AzureKnight808 2015-08-25T00:56:00

Good, especially the camera movement! The only thing this needs is instructions.

Dude, Stop by Patomkin 2015-09-11T22:38:00

Good, kind of like Dumb Ways To Die. It was a little hard to tell what to do for some of the puzzles though.

Limb Slingers by petersmyth 2015-08-25T02:50:00

Great idea, but the limbs are, like, REALLY hard to control.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Robot Santa by madalaski 2017-12-23T21:42:23Z

Nice game! I liked that the presents fell (roughly) along with the music. I would have preferred a menu or something to explain what was going on though.

Burn Bunny (in space) by ZeAntwan 2017-12-10T00:07:13Z

Very well done! I love the Mamazon sound :) The game felt a bit hard. I was kind of expecting the game to just keep going if one of the walls broke entirely (with a more direct path between the engine and the bunnies). Overall it feels very well polished, and it could be amazing if you continued to develop it.

Unstable Space by FunkyHippo 2017-12-24T00:44:50Z

This kept me entertained longer than I care to admit. I like how simple the graphics are. Once you get to a certain point though, there really isn't any incentive to move, since you can just spin in circles and kill everything. It might help if the player's shots couldn't go through the star, or if the enemies spawned further away. Overall, its very simple but what's there is pretty good.

Trip to the Earth by guilhermesouza 2017-12-05T05:33:28Z

I ate everything. The cows put up some resistance, but they too were eventually consumed.

Shadow and Planet by LanceJZ 2017-12-23T21:12:10Z

Well done! I liked the lava lamps in the debris, I just wish I could pick them up or something. I eventually got to the point where I didn't really have time to mine at, I was too busy not dying, and then I got to the point where the enemy ships were doing more to stop themselves than me by running into each other. I like the little radar thing as well.

Free to Play by Hooraygil 2017-12-05T05:11:27Z

Well done! I really liked that you can stand on the ads (some of them are also pretty funny).

Vacuum Platformer by kierkle 2017-12-05T05:24:21Z

I don't know what those little red guys with white eyes are but I hate them with a fiery passion.

Grim Groupies by Kramdar 2017-12-06T00:36:19Z

Very well done! I love this mechanic. I can see how it could be good to make it hard to maneuver your whole group through a passageway, but a simple way of telling your minions to try to move closer to you might be nice might be nice, just to help keep them from getting stuck away from the main.

Autonomous by The Dankasaur 2017-12-23T21:36:44Z

Well done! I liked the fuel mechanic, but it did seem a bit extreme. The original version crashed several times and I wasn't able to finish it on that version. might be nice to have "tankers" or something that remotely refuel other ships, but that's about it.

Immune Invasion by Chong Lee 2017-12-05T05:52:35Z

Very well done! Especially the atmosphere. It did get a little repetitive once I figured out how to survive.

Vermin by Hertz14 2017-12-09T23:44:17Z

Very well done! I kinda wish that once you died either one of your followers could pick up the crown and keep going, or just having a certain amount of lives though. The graphics and music fit very well. I tried but failed to destroy a building by running all of my followers into it. :(

LD46 — Keep it alive

Stoker by disperse 2020-04-28T21:53:13Z

Well done! I like the concept, although it did get a bit repetitive running back and forth through the same cars. If you continue working on it, it might be nice to have multiple levels, each with a different train? I like the art style, and the music fits the game very well even if you didn't make it yourself.

LiT - Les in Trouble by rplnt 2020-04-25T21:39:22Z

Nice work! I think it would be good to have at least some sound (maybe even just a burning effect that got louder the more trees were currently burning). I really like the idea of keeping the fire alive at the expense of the forest.

Battery Savior by Cliff Lee CL 2020-04-26T04:10:44Z

Nice work! This is one of the most polished games I've seen, except that there's so few levels. The graphics are simple, but they look really good, and the music and audio fit the game well.

Keep Your Distance by paul-sinnett 2020-04-29T21:31:56Z

Nice work! I don't think I've ever seen an entry made in scratch before. The game is pretty fun, although past a certain point it doesn't really seem to get much more difficult.

Alien Intensive Care by Linky439 2020-04-26T04:39:45Z

I really like the concept!

I was able to figure out how all of the minigames worked, except for the bleeding one. If I did it quickly enough, I could get rid of one or two of them, but after a few seconds nothing would happen, no matter how many pad things I used. Other than that, my only complaint would be that it would be nice if the window was a bit larger.

Affordable Pet Care by domrein 2020-05-06T05:40:19Z

Nice work! As other people have said, the people do tend to pile up on top of each other. I like the idea of having to remember each pet's name and keep track of them all. I eventually just ended up putting each one into a different corner of the room to keep them organized. I also like the art.

LavaLampSpaceMission by Fabian G 2020-04-26T04:28:49Z

I really like the mechanic! I do feel like it would be more fun if the ship either moved faster, could go longer without having to refuel, or if refueling took less time. As it is, it takes a while to figure out how exactly everything works.

Ramming Rescue! 🚑 by Efmi_ 2020-04-26T04:22:29Z

Nice work! I like the idea of having to get out of the driver's seat to help the patient while also driving. The messages at the beginning did a good job of setting the game up, and I like the art style. In the future it might be good to have some sort of music though.

Agent Z: Zombie Rescue Service Ranger by John Hargrove 2020-04-25T06:34:23Z

Well done! It took me a minute to figure out the controls, but once I did it was really fun, and the art is really good.

Helicopter M.O.M. by Evan Minto 2020-05-06T05:33:50Z

Nice work! I like your interpretation of the theme, and the idea of controlling both the helicopter and the person. It took me a bit to get used to doing both at the same time (I kept forgetting to jump over things), but once I did it was really fun!

FEED HOLE by Aj Jones 2020-04-26T05:14:20Z

Nice work! The game is really fun. The art is kinda weird but it works well. I picked up one of the propeller things at one point, but I couldn't give it to the lobster, or use it as a weapon (maybe I'm just not doing it right).

I love the lobster.

Exolvuntur by PxGluz 2020-04-25T21:49:01Z

Nice work! I really like the atmosphere. I think it might help to allow the player to see a little farther in each direction, to give a little more warning of where an enemy is (even if the light didn't actually shine far enough to see what's around them, you would still be able to see their eyes).

Leap Of Faith by ryan123rudder 2020-04-26T23:28:22Z

OK, so I keep coming back to this game because its amazing. I spent the better part of this afternoon playing it, and I FINALLY made it past the third house. I always died there because it was so hard to get across the bed because it bounces so much. The only way I was able to actually get past that house without spending days on it was because you can jump onto the top of the first two houses, if you wait until you are close to the left edge of the ponds before them, and launch yourself as forcefully as you can at about a 60-70 degree angle. You can bounce off the angled part of the roof, and land on top, which lets you get over that house without actually dealing with any of the difficult stuff inside it.

I've only actually gotten past the the third house twice. The first time, I died immediately, but the second time I made it to the ominous table. From the table I was able to launch myself onto the top of one more house. I don't actually know how many houses past the table I made it, but I died in one where the nearest water to the window on the top level was a bowl on a table, and I kept landing under the table.

May I ask how much further there is to go?

Blinded by the Dawn by WiredOverload 2020-05-06T05:46:36Z

Nice work! The concept is really interesting. It was a bit hard to figure out what was going on at first, but once I did it was really fun. I think it might be nice to be able to box select several units and move them all together.

Keep What Alive by Valeth2124 2020-04-25T07:08:34Z

I really like the art and music, as well as the whole concept, although in some places I think it might be good to give the player a bit more direction (specifically about the colleague - I never actually figured out how to meet them)

Theogenesis by Ixio 2020-05-03T07:47:10Z

Nice job! As other people have said, it's very simple at the moment. The music felt pretty jarring at times, but I think the idea is worth developing further, if you have a chance.

The Lonely Tree by Virtu 2020-04-29T06:22:36Z

Nice work! The graphics are very good (for some reason I really like the wind turbines).

Star Keeper (Ludum Dare 46) by Cobear25 2020-04-25T22:13:01Z

Nice work! I really like flinging the arm out to catch the stars.

Just so you know, on the windows version I had to rename the executable to "LudumDare46" to match the Data folder, or it wouldn't run.

Flare by emmyoop 2020-04-29T06:37:45Z

Nice work! I really like the mechanic. The levels themselves usually weren't too hard, although it was hard to tell depth sometimes (it might have been easier if I hadn't been playing it alone - I had a hard time mentally switching between the two orientations, so I usually just looked at one screen while using the other keys to move up and down).

By the way, on the menus (both the main menu and the restart menu) on the web version, you have to click a little bit above each of the buttons. (so if you click on start, you actually end up hitting game info).

EXTREME Garden Simulator by VectorWolf 2020-04-26T03:59:51Z

Nice work! The art is pretty simple, but I like it. Also, it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that you actually have to stand in front of the pump to get water.

Totally Accurate Delivery Simulator by pinosaur 2020-04-26T03:41:56Z

I love the idea! I don't really know how it relates to the theme, but it's really fun to posses a bunch of different people, and the art is really good. I think I was able to deliver one pizza (I drove past a house and a pizza popped up in from of it), but I wasn't really sure where to go from there.

The adventures of H.I.P.O by Stenlik 2020-04-25T06:43:09Z

Nice job! I like the robot. I did find that if you run into a wall (or even the terrain in one place), you can move the camera so that it's at an angle relative to the player, which made the last few medkits a bit harder to deliver.

Turn The Party On by Hiro Tanima 2020-04-26T03:16:25Z

Nice work! I like the environment and animations, although there didn't seem to be much of a reason to walk around

The Last Flower by Unimaginable_Code_Studios 2020-04-24T23:35:33Z

I really like the art and the sound (also attacking was really satisfying). On a few of the levels it made it was hard to see where to go next because the camera was so far up and to the side, rather than centered on the player.

Keep It Alive by Ponytail Bob 2020-04-26T03:35:40Z

I like the idea! It was really hard to actually get the guy into the net.

Eggs Delivery by wild_fat 2020-04-29T21:10:53Z

Nice work (especially for only 10 hours). I like the idea, although it might have been nice if the car turned a bit faster

Frozen April by Alex Karev 2020-04-25T21:58:59Z

Nice work!

When I went over the the other person and it said not to let them die, I thought it would be good to move them a little closer to the fire to keep them warm, but it was pretty funny to end up having to throw them into the fire.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Asteroid Catcher by Jcourt 2020-10-08T05:03:50Z

@cwazywierdo, @lenophie, and @stracker (and I assume anyone else who's played it): Yeah, the game definitely ended up being *way* harder and *way* less intuitive than I intended. For me at least, most of the fun of it comes from the fact that you don't have the orbits drawn or anything, and you just have to eyeball it, although that clearly makes it really hard to actually figure out how to adjust the orbits, if you haven't done it before or played KSP way too much.

I originally planned on making a few little videos that be part of the tutorial, and would have the orbits actually drawn, to try and show how they actually behave. Do you think something like this (but higher quality and more accurate) would be helpful? Asteroid Catcher Explanation Test 10001-0250.gif

Get Those Votes! by frosty 2020-10-08T04:15:15Z

There doesn't seem to be much of a connection to the theme, but the game is really fun. I love running around proclaiming that I am the Memes Candidate.

Loopin'Space by Stracker 2020-10-06T22:54:29Z

Nice job! The game is fun to play, but also really hard (at least for me). I like the particles.

Defuse in under 5 by Darylsteak 2020-10-06T23:06:14Z

Nice job! I love the idea and the graphics are nice. I actually got my best scores by setting the time really low, something like 1 sec, and then just guessing the order of the wires. Also, it was, uh, interesting, to set the time to 0.

Stranded by Verso 2020-10-08T05:18:47Z

The art looks nice, and the sound fits the game well. Running around collecting things did get a bit boring after a while, but I really liked chasing the crabs into traps.

Shatter by m-trigo 2020-10-08T05:38:12Z

Nice job! I really like the concept, and the art and music fit really well. The only things I'd suggest would be more levels (if you keep working on it), and it would also be nice if you could reset a level immediately if you mess up.

Loop Train by OddSocks 2020-10-06T22:21:47Z

I really like the graphics (including the background), although the game does get a bit boring after a while. Also, the bell sound when you get hit by the enemies is funny.

Hamsters in a Mech by Jake Crabtree 2020-10-08T04:28:23Z

The game is fun and interesting, and also really hard. This would be a great coop where if a different person could control each hamster (or maybe two of them).

LööpBöund by essarrgee 2020-10-08T03:50:40Z

It certainly feels very unfinished, but for some reason I find the way that you move around and the fact that shooting pushes you back *incredibly* satisfying, and your interpretation of the theme is one of the more unique ones I've seen so far. As others have said, it would be nice if there was some sound, or more of a goal, but if you keep working on it I think you can turn this into something really fun.

Danger Beat by rhoff95 2020-10-06T23:12:13Z

Nice job! I like your interpretation of the theme, and the game is really fun.

STUCK IN ORBIT by Baiketsu 2020-10-06T22:13:19Z

Nice Job! It took me an a minute to realize I needed to zoom out to be able to see the entire level. The only real change I'd suggest is increasing the speed of the rocket when it's in orbit.

Loopclear by HardCodeD 2020-10-06T22:43:03Z

Nice job! I have mixed feelings about the stairs. Also, I don't know if this is intended, but the magnet thing won't move down if you're holding a barrel.

Outside The Loop by Peace Of Cake Games 2020-10-08T05:32:58Z

Nice job! Some music might be nice, as well as a bit more explanation of what the goal is, how to progress etc. If not an actual in-game tutorial, it might good to at least explain a bit more detail in the description.

Aztec Ride by Idan Rooze 2020-10-07T00:54:00Z

I really like this game. The art is really good, the sound fits it really well, and it's fun. The only thing is that, in a lot of cases, it seems to be better to move *just* fast enough that the little guys just barely jump out, and then immediately land back in their same car. That being said said, it's SO fun to just fling them off into the air.

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Nano - Nautica by nopogo 2024-10-24T06:22:28Z

I think this could be a bade for something really fun, if you wanted to continue working on it.

Operating the submarine was fun, and took a little bit to get used to. I think it might have gotten a little boring after too much longer, but the game wasn't too long, and all it would need would be one or two other things to do (like maybe a collectible that moves away from you, or some kind of basic enemy to avoid), and I think it could last a long time.

I like the art. It works well, and it's a consistent style. I like the vibe of the game.

Nibblers by kuggenhoffen 2024-10-23T08:12:49Z

This was fun to mess around with.

Other people have already mentioned the animations and things, and I agree.

I did have trouble keeping SporeSprockets alive - I thought it was really interesting for them to release spores every now and then, but I didn't seem to be able to get them to actually eat enough to survive, regardless of how many small FleaFlecks were around? I'm not really sure if that's what happened though, without being able to see the stats of an individual creature.

Crazy Critters by freso 2024-10-22T11:36:41Z

I liked the art/animations, especially the critters!

I also did enjoy running around with them, although I did feel like it wasn't very clear whether they were responding to what I told them to do with the mouse. I think they were, it just felt a little wishy-washy, if that makes any sense.

The basic gameplay was fun, and I would have liked a little more of it, maybe some additional maps/levels or some different enemies, even if it was just another background piece to really make it more obvious that we're small, or a red slime that moves slightly faster, or something.

Mini Outbreak by andyspace144 2024-10-25T04:32:39Z

This was pretty fun!

It took me a bit to figure out exactly what was going on, but once I did it was enjoyable.

I do think it would have been good to have some sound, even just something very simple, but I realize it can be hard to do that well within the time limit.

Revenge of the Fly by Vodzik 2024-10-22T07:46:52Z

This doesn't feel particularly finished, but I did have a lot of fun playing it, once I figured out how to move.

I have mixed feelings about the control scheme. I've played a lot of jam games with similar concepts before, and I feel like it's more common to just have a button that toggles whether you're flying, and then wasd just pushes you in the direction the camera is looking. This method was definitely a lot harder, and I agree with the other person that it feels a bit helicopter like, but that difficulty did make it fun to play around with. I may have ended up settling on something unintended though, which was to always hold W and the left mouse button, and repeatedly tap the right mouse button to stay in the air.

Also, the music very much sounds fly-like and I think it works very well.

Snake Rolls by Mars 2024-10-24T09:52:21Z

Best soundtrack ever 10/10. Reminds me of a jam game I played years ago involving carrots or something?

But anyway, I actually found movement to be pretty enjoyable, and I spent a while trying to get all 30 as quickly as I could, but I couldn't get it below ~29 seconds. I'm shocked someone got as low as ~23.

Tiny Creatures Master by tenshi42 2024-10-22T08:11:28Z

To preface this, I may have gotten unlucky or just messed something up - I didn't seem to be able to get past the first level, even though it felt like I completed it at least once.

I had a lot of trouble getting the bugs to work (especially the second type that builds the bridge and ladder), but when they did work I thought they were a really clever game mechanic. The building ones locking together to make the things felt really fun, even if climbing the ladder and controlling the player felt a bit awkward.

Also the background music is stuck in my head now.

Little Summin' by Human Writes Code 2024-10-24T05:23:37Z

This was more fun than I expected - a little hard sometimes when just target number changes dramatically, but fun to play. Also, as others have said, really nice and complete for 5 hours!

Three Tiny Toblins by NightmaresDev 2024-10-22T07:30:47Z

This was really good! I thought the 3 different abilities were good, and used pretty well with all the puzzles. It did take me a little while to figure out that 3 can throw the others, not some object that just hadn't shown up yet, but that's a minor thing. "walk", "crawl", "land", etc was funny, and the art looks nice and feels cohesive.

Mantis Melee by thormoth 2024-10-24T09:31:19Z

This was fun!

It felt very polished, and I liked the variety of upgrades. The art works really well too.

I found the first 7 prey pretty easy, especially since you get the healing, but the endless mode was fun.

Shadow of the itty-bitties by Kaish 2024-10-25T04:45:15Z

This was really good!

Since the gameplay was pretty simple I was expecting it to get boring, but I think you designed each fight to be pretty distinct, and the difficulty adjusted nicely. I like the Guide feature very much.

Also, as others have said, the art is really nice and I like the style, the slight... "TV screen effect"? (how it looks like the middle is bowed out a little, and maybe scanlines?) is really well executed, and I think it adds a lot to the game visually.

I also thought the credits with a whole animation and all the bugs' names was a nice touch.

FireFly by Cloistered 2024-10-24T00:39:07Z

This was fun to play, even if the game itself was pretty simple.

I wasn't really sure what some of the upgrades actually did at times (there was at least one ending with "cd" that I wasn't able to figure out), and I would have liked it if the boundaries were marked in some way - I definitely ran into the top one without realizing a couple of times.

Pill Sub by Nikolas van Rus 2024-10-25T02:50:50Z

This was fun! I thought the art worked very well, and the gameplay was good.

Things got out of hand very quickly for me - as soon as a turret broke while I was on the other side of the sub, I couldn't repair it in time to avoid taking a ton of damage.

ROLL! by Srynetix 2024-10-24T05:39:07Z

This is a really interesting mechanic! (or at least, I haven't seen it before). It took me a bit to get the hang of it, but definitely really fun to play once I did. It was a little hard to aim when launching sometimes, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

I like the music and art too - it fits the game well.

Critter Wrangler by LelulaGames 2024-10-23T07:47:12Z

I like the art! It seems pretty consistent, and the creatures are cute.

The gameplay is pretty basic, and I probably wouldn't have wanted to keep playing for much longer, but I did want to stick around long enough to find all 11.

I do agree with some other people that it would have been nice if the sprites faced the camera, but I thought the game was enjoyable to play.

Snail Trivia Race by GameDevTraum 2024-10-24T06:10:43Z

This is a fun little trivia game.

Pretty simple mechanics, not too easy or hard, and I liked the snail race theming - felt like one of those mechanical horse race games, but interesting to watch because you can do something to help yours win. I would like it if there were a couple more questions so they're less likely to be repeated when you play again, but there's enough that it's fun to play, so that's just nitpicking.

Tiny Economy by Hawkin 2024-10-24T05:13:13Z

This is very relaxing, and I like not having a defined goal. I do wish there was a little more to do, or that the player's decisions had a little more of an effect, but I think this could be the base of something really good, and I totally understand not quite having time and having to simplify things.

I thought the idea of placing tiles in this way could be really interesting, having to decide whether to go with a decent option you have now or wait for a better one later. I haven't played Dorf Romantik, so maybe this is an existing idea I just haven't seen before, but I like it either way.

TUSK by NBumgardner 2024-10-22T11:56:14Z

This is really good!

The tutorial is particularly helpful, and the art looks really nice, and consistent. I didn't tend to find the game too hard, but I think I may have gotten a little lucky. The variety of upgrades and characters is really great.

This is nitpicky, but my only real complaint is that the Yahtzee style "save the dice you like and reroll the others" seems like a good idea, but I think it could have been a little more fun - right now, there's not much strategy to which dice you reroll, because you just always want to lock anything that matches the barrier's weakness, and reroll the rest (this may just be a result of the upgrades I chose. Not a lot of variation in how much each action was worth). I think it might be a little more fun if each barrier had, for example a Strength, in addition to its weakness. Actions matching its strength would do little to no damage. That way, you'd still always want to reroll anything bad, but there would be a middle ground where you'd have to decide whether to take the risk of rolling something worse, in exchange for the reward of maybe getting something better.

Overall though, I really enjoyed this game, and I think you should be proud of it.

EDIT: I did also want to mention that the UI sound (like when you close a popup) - I found it a little amusing. It seems like it's a normal little UI noise, made verbally, but I keep hearing it as "you up?".

Tiny Creatures by kernon 2024-10-23T07:56:11Z

I like the concept here! I've actually wondered before if a sort of "herding tower defense" game like this could work (almost did one for this jam actually, but decided to go with something simpler instead), and this prototype was fun to mess around with.

I like a lot of the future ideas you listed as well. If I was going to make a game like this, my assumption was that it would work best as a top down thing, without any real player character, but I think your last idea above, about manually interacting with buttons and things, is very interesting and worth exploring.

Other people have mentioned controls and things, and I agree, but if you keep working on this at all, I'd be interested in seeing how it turns out!

What Is This, An Empire For Ants? by Jaco van Hemert 2024-10-23T09:43:32Z

This was really fun!

I'm impressed with how polished and complete this feels, given the time limit. The art works well, and the difficulty is pretty good too I think. I also thought the different advantages the other ants had were interesting.

Most similar games I've played have armies also be able to fight on roads between cities, not just at the cities themselves, and I felt like not doing that actually allowed for a little different strategy at times, because it actually made sense to retreat. It might have made it a little easier to win at times - if an AI sent a large army at one of your cities that you couldn't beat, it usually meant that they left the city it came form lightly defended, and easy to take over. I did that a lot in the first level, and I think it's the reason I ended up with more cities, and therefore more production.

My only real criticism is that the theme seems somewhat minimal. Aside from the puns, it seems like this game would have been made to suit almost any theme, but a lot of games are like that (mine included), so, you know.

TinySlime by H1soka 2024-10-22T13:10:21Z

The art is cute, and I like the slime. It seems like the colors have some effect of how effective the Skill is? I would like it to be a little more clear what the effect is, but the changing color is cool.

I do think I found a bug - when you try to sell an item that you have at least 1 of, it doesn't actually remove it from your inventory.

Glimbo's Defense by AtlasFlame 2024-10-24T06:49:26Z

This was fun!

I agree with some other people that even just very simple audio could help a lot to make it feel a little more polished. It's a little basic right now, but there are some nice touches, like the hotkeys and high scores, which I appreciate.

Kat Kicker by Agent__Maxwell 2024-10-22T08:00:26Z

This felt a little unfinished at times, but I enjoyed playing it.

I agree with some other people that it wasn't always clear how/if you could use some of the objects in any way (like the leafblower and the drone).

I did feel like this was a much greater mix of 2d and 3d art visuals than you see for a lot of jam games. I'm not any good at art so I don't really know how hard this is, but it seems very impressive to me how good grabbing the cats felt - it doesn't feel like you're just clicking the mouse and the sprite is changing while the 3d object disappears, it feels like you are actually grabbing the cat and now it's in your hand.

Every Light Counts by BruceZoom 2024-10-23T08:32:06Z

This is a really great concept, and executed really well!

there's not much I can say that others haven't already, but I thought the music and art worked well, and the difficulty was pretty well calibrated too.

Minisseum by Tenai 2024-10-23T23:58:22Z

This was fun, and I think it's a really interesting concept.

I think it could have used a little more balance at times - it seemed like Bacteria always got 1st no matter what - I was thinking that maybe having multiple species of bacteria could help, or something? Either way, I had about the same problems as the other comments, and I thought the core design of the game seemed really clever and interesting, and I enjoyed playing.

TRAP-EM by JawshyDawg 2024-10-24T07:44:38Z

I also thought that it would be good if the grapple cooldown was a little shorter, but this was fun to mess around with. I never had much trouble catching the little guys (it seemed like I could outrun them without using the dash at all), and I thought the little pen they go to when deposited was funny.

Immunity by Paul Miller 2024-10-25T03:02:21Z

I like the art, and I think this is an interesting idea. It was a little hard to tell whether I was accomplishing anything at times, but I think I ended up doing what was supposed to do.

LD57 — Depths

Depth of Field by Gao Ming 2025-04-09T06:36:38Z

This is really cool! The actual gameplay is pretty basic, but with the brief little story, it stays very interesting for the length of the game. And, as everyone else has said, your interpretation of the theme is really unique.

The Void by Iluvatar 2025-04-09T09:21:26Z

I agree with all the things others have said the art is great, and atmosphere is very well done!

It's a short story, but it felt pretty polished, and I had fun playing through this.

Bedrock Rush by superjai 2025-04-09T07:20:52Z

This is really good! It's fun to play, and I thought that the leaderboard and the little "Wipeout"/"repair"/"what Lakitu does in Mario Kart" animation were really nice touches.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out I could jump.

Dungeon Cartographer by finntastico 2025-04-09T08:43:46Z

This is a great concept! It's kind of a small detail, but I really appreciated the selection tool - like some other people, I ran out of room and had to adjust my map later on. I felt like the dungeon was pretty small, but it was interesting to explore.

What Lurks Below by dxk2294 2025-04-10T10:33:17Z

As others have said, the atmosphere is really great! This is one of the better incremental games I've seen, especially from a game jam. I really appreciate the descriptions for all the things you can buy - they really help with the theming.

Descent Protocol by fingolfin 2025-04-09T06:52:56Z

As everyone else has said, the art and music are really good, and they fit together well. I think the game might have been a little more interesting with a couple different minigames (maybe one related to the scanner thing, if that did something?), but I enjoyed playing until I forgot to put the drill on Stop after resuming, and ran out of fuel.

I did find it funny that there's just a bunch of water jugs sitting underground for some reason, and that their labels would be backwards when walking to the left.

Cheese is the Reason by AXLplosion 2025-04-09T08:33:03Z

Others have already mentioned everything I was going to say, I just wanted to say this was fun. One of the funniest LD games I've seen.

Detector by AlphaBetaSoup 2025-04-09T07:03:17Z

It was surprisingly hard to find things!

Also, it's not a huge deal for a game like this, but it's always nice when LD games can be paused.

The OPERATOR by Tomtomgome 2025-04-10T23:38:37Z

This was fun to play! I tried a couple times, and didn't finish because each time the squad would eventually just... stop responding to input. Maybe I just did something wrong, but each time I tried to fix it by clearing the queue, hitting the start button again, etc, and they just kind of sat there no matter what I entered. What I did see was fun to play with though, and I liked the descriptions of each node, and the stickers.

Drillraph by DaivyIsHere 2025-04-09T07:33:13Z

This is a very interesting concept! I thought that the variety of different nodes was interesting. At some point there were no more upgrades available, even thought I had seen nodes available that I hadn't gotten yet (because I didn't have enough money yet) - I wasn't sure if that was intended or not. Either way, this is one of the more unique games I've played so far.

Into The Abyss by Constance 2025-04-16T19:32:44Z

This was fun to play!

As others have said, the music fits well, and the art is good. It did take me a while to get used to the S key digging in the direction of the mouse - it's not a problem once you get used to it, but I felt like it might have been a bit more intuitive if S always dug down? That might just be me though. Also, I liked that there's an end goal, and reason to play again, to try and get more boxes.

Delta Breach by NonDev 2025-04-09T09:03:06Z

Like others have said, the vibes are great, the art is great, and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do.

I figured out how to swap(?) CO2 filters, and I assumed that I was supposed to be matching the display on the left? I did eventually successfully relay one signal, but I don't really understand what I did to cause that? I stayed at around 40hz for a while, and kind of just fiddled around until I got some numbers to type into the keypad. I never figured out what the Prime button and lever did, or if the window cracking was related to me failing or not.

You Are the End by AgrMayank 2025-04-09T06:26:33Z

Good job, especially on the art!

The actual gameplay is pretty simple, and can get a little boring after a while (for me, all I really seemed to have to do to win was just spam a bunch of knights at the beginning, then wait 3 or 4 minutes until all the waves have ended), but I liked watching the units go about fighting each other, and it would be really easy to make that a little more interesting with a few more units available to the player, or maybe some variation in the enemies' abilities.

I feel like the game's strongest area is the visual aspects, which are really, really good.

Meanepth by rensun 2025-04-10T08:42:20Z

As everyone else has said, the atmosphere and environments are really great, especially with the pixelation. The jellyfish are pretty, and I like them despite the jumpscare that one of them triggers.

Underwater by DragonMain 2025-04-10T08:51:35Z

I like the art! I do think the game could have been improved with just a little bit more contract on the walls, for example, but this was fun to play.

Desmos Cave Game by cool_purr 2025-04-07T11:50:24Z

I was able to control it! It took me a minute to find this button - I'm guessing that's "starting the ticker" like you mentioned?

Desmos Button.PNG

Either way, I got stone for a couple levels! And I used it to get coins, and then an item! I wasn't able to see what that item did, because when I tried to leave the shop for the second time it didn't seem to work. I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but several times I had to reload the page and start over, because it just kind of became impossible to do anything. Then I'd take the same (or at least very similar) actions, and things seemed to keep working OK.

What I saw of the gameplay seemed pretty simple, I'm just really impressed that you managed to do this much with such a strange tool.

I looked through the expressions out of curiosity, and while I do not know anything about how you can use desmos for this stuff, I did find it interesting that you had to define a variable for pi, and that variables were named things like M(sub)enu

Again, I just want to emphasize that this is a very cool and impressive thing to do.

Treats for Charybdis by fragskye 2025-04-09T23:36:32Z

This was fun to play! I just wish I could have seen some eels recharge themselves.

Coals of the Eternal Cycle by sqqqwer 2025-04-10T05:59:34Z

As others have said, the coloring in the screen part of ending 2 was very interesting. The puzzles were pretty basic, but I don't think that's a bad thing, because spending a long time trying to figure them out might have detracted from the overall mood of the game, at least for me. This was fun to play through.

Where Stars Forget Your Name by Vladcfg 2025-04-10T00:16:42Z

I agree with most of the things others have said, but I did want to mention that a lot of the little effects worked really well, like the asteroids exploding and shaking the screen a little, the look and feel of the black holes, etc.

North Depths by voidsrc 2025-04-10T04:59:25Z

This is a really good clicker game! I personally have never seen one of these where there's a grid of things to deal with like this (are there others?), so I thought that was interesting. It took a lot longer to finish than most LD games do, but on a normal scale, I felt like it was paced fairly well, which seems hard to accomplish when making this sort of game in a short amount of time. I did end up spending the majority of the game sitting at a lower depth so that I could get ice as fast as possible, since that's what I was usually lacking, but I may have just bought things in a suboptimal order.

As others have said, the art and music are fantastic, and they work really well together.

LD58 — Collector

Human Collector by tangiblegames 2025-10-11T09:54:33Z

This was fun to play! I did eventually get to a point where I guess I just collected all the humans? Around level 14ish, there just weren't any left to grab. I got a good chunk of the way to the 100000 but all the way, so I guess I should have put more energy into figuring out how to sell optimally.

Interstellar Repossession Service by firellon 2025-10-07T08:11:28Z

This was fun! I haven't seen this kind of thing with modules trailing you before, and it's really interesting.

I did have a very, very hard time actually hitting the pirates - they kind of just built up until eventually I couldn't avoid them anymore.

Derailed by rynti 2025-10-21T23:38:54Z

This was fun!

As others have said, the concept is great, and driving the trams while derailed is fun. I like the 3d effect on the buildings, but I do feel like it would have felt a little more natural if other objects did it too, or if you could see the sides of the cars like you can with the trains. Also, it's a small detail, but I liked that the music gets more energetic when you're driving a tram.

Clam Jam by Fis 2025-10-11T23:45:09Z

This is really nice and polished! As others have said, the art and vibes are great. The hats are a nice touch, and the crabs start out easy to avoid but get pretty interesting after the first few days

Catorus by TopperVideoGames 2025-10-07T04:12:02Z

This is an interesting little game. I very much enjoyed seeing the other end on the horizon for the first time!

Abyss Adrift by tetrapteryx 2025-10-07T08:03:46Z

The art is really great! Gameplay does feel a little bit janky at times (particular because sometimes there's just not enough stuff at depths you can reach to sustain you), but I had a lot of fun playing!

I think if I lived in some kind of post apocalyptic wasteland/ruins like that, and still had to pay rent, I would fully just give up.

Webbed Up! by Fractal 2025-10-07T04:22:19Z

This was really fun! It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that I could just run into any unnecessary bugs to get rid of them, and make it easier to isolate the right groups of the others. I also really liked the art, and I feel like the music fits the game well.

Trash Catchers by mira 2025-10-07T06:22:13Z

At the beginning of the jam I was trying to think of a way to make an ocean trash collector game fun, and I couldn't think of anything, but this was really great! I'm jealous that I didn't think of the 2 player rope thing.

I felt like the speed was very manageable playing the game alone, but I think it might have felt a little bit too slow if I was playing with another person. And I thought the dragon was a really good addition. It made the game more interesting.

I do wish there was a little bit more variety to the game - more monsters like the dragon, maybe with different behaviors, etc. I think that's a good problem to have though.

A Familiar Task by Codeman1010 2025-10-07T05:56:17Z

I'm not 100% sure whether I got the intended experience here - the game is displayed at a pretty small size on the page, and when I opened the settings menu, I wasn't able to actually close it without reloading the page. It seemed like some thing might have been cut off.

That being said, I did really like a couple of little touches, like the dramatic music when the frog gets close to you, and the magic door.

Octrobat by Koolruz 2025-10-07T22:03:30Z

This is a really good game! I think I got most of the way through it before having to cheat? As others have said though, the movement is really interesting, and the art and music fit really well.

My only real complaint would be that there were a couple places where I had trouble attaching to the right crab at the right distance, because it would try to attach to another nearby one instead (in particular, the level in the first screenshot on this page). That may have been my fault though. Hard to tell if I was just timing it wrong.

The Raven Job by MeowMeowLitClub 2025-10-21T23:48:21Z

As others have said, the art is really good! I feel like the gameplay could be improved in some areas, with some obstacles like furniture or buildings to avoid, or humans with different behaviors - anything that would add some variety. Also, small detail, but I appreciated the settings menu.

Predincament by Threeli 2025-10-07T04:33:32Z

This was fun to play! As others have said, it's pretty basic, but what is done is really good.

I desperately need to know if the prince is in fact made of glue.

Junk Driver by Sirplop 2025-10-07T04:56:30Z

As others have said, the arm is great. I do feel like it would have been nice to be able to repair yourself using some of the scrap you're accumulated, in addition to getting shields

WonderBot: A Lofty Return by mortusnegati 2025-10-10T07:43:54Z

This is really great! I also kind of sort of made a robot vacuum game, but not nearly this good!

As others have said, even just some basic audio would be nice, but there are so many nice touches, like the vents, the cat, respawning "in a bit" if you get out of bounds, the unstuck system etc. You guys did a fantastic job

Golden Starfruit by Kamizenki 2025-10-07T04:51:29Z

I like the concept! It took me a couple tries to make it to the end. Since there are so many coins available, I had the best luck ending with exactly 20 coins when I intentionally got too many early on, got cursed, and then spent the second half of the run building them back up again.

Pigment of your Imagination by Ranarh 2025-10-07T05:43:58Z

The art is really great, and I like vibes! I wasn't quite sure what the "unwanted parts" were though - I kind of just collected everything I could.

The Grande Concoction by Artificer 2025-10-07T21:37:16Z

As others have said, the art's good and it's very easy to fall (mostly in a funny way). I did have a little bit of trouble getting it to actually pick up the potions, but overall nice work!

GeoGather by Lianyi 2025-10-10T06:58:57Z

This was interesting, if a little short! I really like the minimap. Also, this isn't very important, but being able to adjust the volumes is always a nice extra bit of polish for a game jam.

I did find it a little annoying that the minimap would show collectible shapes that were outside the allowed area, but that's a very minor complaint.

I do feel like there's probably something that could be done to make the game a little more entertaining to play for longer periods - something that makes it so you aren't just moving in circles around the map (like maybe moving walls, or Hexagons that take multiple hits to destroy, or something else).

SaleDay by Lapher 2025-10-07T04:45:43Z

This was fun to play! The art works well, and it was definitely frustrating to get pushed around by the npcs (which I'm guessing was an intentional choice)? I think I was occasionally able to shove one of them inside of the cash registers, which was pretty satisfying, even if they got a little glitchy afterwards.

BulkUp by naru 2025-10-07T06:09:08Z

That was definitely an interesting happy ending. The gameplay is pretty quick and simple, but the art (including cutscenes) is really fantastic!

Collector Clash by toastercosplay 2025-10-07T05:36:05Z

As others have mentioned, some basic sounds effects would have gone a long way, but this was fun to mess around with! I liked the characters, and their different attacks.
