LD42 — Running out of space

Stacked Odds by Josh Riley 2018-08-17T04:47:45Z

Nice game although I do agree that the only way to play is to spam left or right as it is too fast to find a best move. This was also one of the few games that had a fully polished instruction screen as well as a difficulty selector. Nice Job!

Cell Trapper by tybantarnusa 2018-08-17T01:56:03Z

The game was pretty fun to play! I do wish that the level would reset every wave and that enemies would not be able to immediately spawn on the player though.

Nuclear Arms 6: Waste Wizard's Tricks by Logicon211 2018-08-14T01:21:31Z

The sound design is fantastic.

Urban Planning by reuno 2018-08-14T02:05:38Z

Fantastic theme, great art and sound design, occasionally get launched miles into the air, 10/10.

Grid Weaver by HacksawUnit 2018-08-16T02:35:04Z

The game really feels great, partly because of the animations whenever anything happens, but also because there's always something to do. There's also a fun bit of strategy that makes this an overall great game. Great work!

The Last Data by Nelios 2018-08-16T02:27:21Z

I really liked this game for one thing, the level design. This kind of game has very simple mechanics, and so it's hard to make a level interesting at all, however the levels were designed well enough to make it flow and easily figure out where i'm going, and it was also fun.

20000 Leaks Under the Sea by webthingee 2018-08-16T02:21:03Z

The game looks great and has a consistent theme/style in both the art and music. I do wish the more interesting mechanics that show up in the end like the fact patches don't stay forever were shown off more in the beginning or middle though.

doof by JonahSenzel 2018-08-17T02:03:29Z

I really like the artstyle of this game! Unfortunately it doesn't seem to behave nicely with faster refresh rate monitors but still enjoyable.

Evolucity - Build as high as you can! by Mazzletov 2018-08-23T02:16:29Z

This is a pretty good game that definitely does fit the theme in the sense that as you go up you get less space to place your towers on and you have to choose what type of buildings you have to place your next platform on. Unfortunately for this game, because some parts of the game are very well polished, the unpolished parts really stick out. The title screen, general art and UI look great, the player is able to rotate the camera, and in general the physics behave like you would expect them to; however the fact that the main mechanic of the game, placing buildings, can be very difficult to can lead to an overall frustrating experience. Having the building placement be a bit finicky is fine as it is for a game jam, but the fact there is a time based combo bar and not a ton of room for error means that that one problem becomes a bigger issue than it would otherwise have been. It's worth noting that I was playing the web build, so that might just be a result of that. Overall great game though!

Overflow by Mors 2018-08-16T02:30:58Z

Great challenging game. Small side-note that the game did run more than twice as fast on my 144Hz monitor.

Delete After Reading by AndrewW 2018-08-14T02:41:47Z

Fantastic looking game, and fantastic theme. Everything fits together perfectly.

Get out of my space! by Yuri Simoes Arce 2018-08-14T01:13:56Z

Nice take on the theme + pretty decent and consistent art style. I wish there was some in-game indication that you want to go in the same direction and not opposite though.

Weltraum by JLV 2018-08-14T01:44:16Z

Audio seems to only come from the left.

Carter's Crates by Diego Escalante 2018-08-17T03:49:35Z

No bugs, very intuitive design, optional strategy, and some rather nice sprites. Overall it's a good game!

Invasion Failed by Wargon 2018-08-19T05:16:18Z

This is probably the game I had the most fun playing this jam. The graphics and particles look great, the music is fantastic, and it's randomly generated to boot. Overall the reason I think this game plays so well is because of the smaller details that make the game unique, like the "detayals" exploding so the player doesn't get stuck and there's a variety in animation, or like the few empty spots that only really exist to break up the level and make it more interesting. The game could have been submitted without those small things and still been good, but the fact that they were added makes this game excellent. Great Job!

Backpack Fight by stellaryyan2 2018-08-16T05:03:22Z

Honestly I wasn't expecting to have as much fun as I did. Great work!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Sacrificial Sam by HitchH1k3r 2018-12-10T02:24:27Z

Decent feeling solid game with only a couple design changes that felt shaky. In the first level I never picked up the end item before exploring upward and I believe that in doing so I wasn't able to get to the second level without playing the first again. Overall great game.

Space Safe by MrTroy 2018-12-11T03:16:59Z

Great base game with the added theme that rescued capsuled only draw you down. Unfortunately I wished the enemies would approach you from farther away in order to make the player actually feel danger or pressure to leave the capsules behind. I also really enjoyed the music, but I was a larger fan of the menu music than the actual gameplay music. Great job overall.

Hexago by smilewood 2018-12-12T02:28:42Z

Very solid game with easy to understand controls and rules. Reading the list before playing didn't give me high hopes, but things were slowly introduced. I do wish that there was a skip move button somewhere as I could reach the optimal solution in less moves. Additionally when going to a previous level, the board stays the same, but you are granted extra moves, so you essentially have unlimited moves. Overall good game.

Altitude Sickness by Antti Tiihonen 2018-12-08T02:02:00Z

I do love this game for really pushing the sacrifice theme and for making the entire game feel polished with the sound and physics. That said you can occasionally skip a level if you just spam space as the connections can bug out a bit when pulled in multiple different directions; however I was also playing on the web build with a 144hz monitor which didn't help. Great game!

Oh My Gods! please don't kill us by Matt Fabius 2018-12-10T03:19:20Z

Overall great base game. I think this game would have really improved with some sound, some indicator of wrath percentage, or some snappy/clearer hitboxes, but overall it was still fun and really fit the theme. Good job on the game.

Blood God by Jacky2611 2018-12-30T23:53:22Z

I enjoyed the core gameplay on this one, although a large portion of the strategy was cheesing the archers into trying to shoot into walls. Overall it fit the theme, felt good to play, and even had a higher skill ceiling with the option to shoot away incoming arrows. I played the web build, so I only got to hear the music occasionally, but what I heard was pretty good. Great game!

Tenoch's Turmoil by evbo 2018-12-13T04:53:23Z

This was one of the few games I played that wasn't obviously made in a game jam on a time crunch. That being said I didn't entirely agree with some of the gameplay decisions such as losing upgrades between sacrifices or the very low horizontal speed. Due to those choices I never felt that I had time to waste giving food to the family because a couple slips would kill me, but when I had extra time after collecting fruit or the god wanted a very simple fruit, there was no reason to go get any upgrades. Overall great game!

Tenoch's Turmoil by evbo 2018-12-14T00:31:31Z

@evbo that update definitely fixed it, and it's pretty much an entirely new game. Usually I'll switch to my non 144Hz monitor when a game seems to run too fast, but this is the first game I've played where a higher refresh rate meant something went much slower. The game plays so much better now, thanks for fixing it!

Sheepy by FROG5TAR 2018-12-10T02:44:05Z

I didn't see any major bugs in the web version, however I did find that you can simply cross any of the holes by hugging the wall. decent base game otherwise.

Last Key of Robotica 3 by elitegoliath 2018-12-10T03:04:14Z

Ironically the way to win seems to be to sacrifice maybe one or two allies maximum. Overall pretty fun game although I did wish your allies had some kind of health indicator as they get hit as well.

Newton's Last Resort by WiredOverload 2018-12-06T05:46:27Z

@gizmolo One of the best strategies is to stay near the middle in order to avoid randomly spawning enemies, but dodging is usually more cost effective meaning you can take more hits and survive longer. My current record is 3448, but it is possible to go higher.

Newton's Last Resort by WiredOverload 2018-12-11T04:54:31Z

@smilewood there is your current health displayed in the top left corner by a number of astronauts, although they are pretty small and camouflaged in with the rest of the game. If I were to do the game again I would definitely create a yellow border around them so they would be easier to see and keep track of, but I only really realized that was a problem a few hours after uploading lol.

Newton's Last Resort by WiredOverload 2018-12-30T23:40:48Z

Hey @neato could you list your basic specs for the machine you were playing on? I tested the game on a 6 year old laptop of mine so I figured it was fine, but now I'm curious what the actual hardware requirements are. Any performance hits are almost certainly because of the clouds as originally I had severe performance issues testing with the original 8K versions of the cloud textures I whipped up, although they have been majorly cut down.

Sacrifice Society by SirMichel 2018-12-06T06:01:40Z

I really enjoyed the music, but I wish more effort was spent on the level design. There were quite a lot of empty rooms and on my first dungeon the boos was in the first room. Great game otherwise though.

Legend of the Aztec by Mirage 2018-12-12T04:22:47Z

Movement seems to work okay if you spam click somewhat near to you, although you can get stuck on objects and the collection range seems to be closer than when the object light up to be collected, but that might be as simple an issue to fix as using the wrong distance values. Overall the game showed a decent amount of work put in with some paths and custom animation.

Slime Arena by Cannedtuna 2018-12-11T03:27:04Z

I might not have gotten far enough, but I haven't found the sacrifice theme in this game yet other than one of the weapons. Overall solid bug free gameplay even if there wasn't a ton of it. One improvement that would have really improved the experience would have been to add some way to match the slime speed, something like a slowdown shift button. In general it was still a pretty decent game even if some improvements would have helped the game overall.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Deadline by Evan Minto 2019-05-11T03:56:48Z

The base gameplay for this game was pretty solid and anytime I took damage it really seemed fair, although I wish there was less rectangular collision so I could fit farther under ledges. The base gameplay for the game seems so solid that my only gripe with it was the lack of additions or mechanics. In particular the health/energy swap works so well I wish there were other ways to use energy or have much of a reason to keep switching energy back and forth, rather than switching energy to health being a bit of a last resort. Overall great submission!

Escape from the Mint by clue 2019-05-12T19:40:37Z

I really loved this game as it's probably the most complete game I've played yet. There were multiple interesting mechanics and there were enough levels to mostly make full use of those mechanics, meaning I kept getting surprised that there was yet another level to get to play. My only suggestions would be to implement the one change all the other commenters were asking for, less physics on sleeping coins, and maybe a level 0 that introduces the fact that you are in a mint and why you would want to escape because if you hadn't told me in the title I would not have known. Additionally it's a bit strange that A and D can control the coins like the left and right arrow keys, but W does not act like the up arrow key. Fantastic job overall!

War Crimes by Oivin F 2019-05-11T19:38:08Z

Pretty solid game, just as a note though, 144HZ monitors do not work well with this game at all, it lags continuously.

Your life is currency by pengda 2019-05-10T02:46:11Z

I really like this game because the central game mechanic can be used in a number of different ways, making it a great base for a puzzle game that you could have done a lot more with. Other than the lack of some small features like SFX, instructions, or a consistent art style with the platforms, my main issue with the game would have to be the physics. Getting stuck in a videogame is one of the most frustrating experiences and unfortunately the player seems to get stuck whenever they interact with the side of a coin, additionally the player moves pretty fast for a puzzle game until you pick up coins, at which point it seems a lot slower than it should be, and finally the coins to tend to clip into each other which isn't really an issue except that you can skip some sections with a high jump from newly stacked coins. Overall fun design and the art was some of the best I've seen, good job.

Spare Life by Colin Misbach 2019-05-09T03:44:28Z

I really enjoyed using the guns and looking at the shot effects in your game, although the quality of those makes the rest of the game a bit sad in comparison. One nitpick I have is that none of the sacrificed abilities really directly affect the actual gameplay, and you could get through the entire thing without actually realizing what all had been given away. Additionally because you are always given a weapon at the exact same time as you lose an ability, it could be confusing whether the fact you can't aim is a result of the weapon or loss of ability. Overall great game and a better base for something even larger!

Bullet Roon by spenn 2019-05-08T04:59:03Z

So you definitely got the theme in, and most of the actual mechanics did what you would expect them to do, but there were some broad things you might want to look into changing for your next jam. Other than the basics like sound or animation, you always at least something that really makes your game unique, some kind of twist. So for this game, something simple could be possibly reducing the cost of the items depending on how many enemies were on screen to incentivize the player to kite them or survive with a ton of them chasing you, or something else like spawning more enemies every time you open the shop, but have a cap on the maximum number of items to make the player buy in bulk and then have less health. Overall good effort and with this as a base I can see some great games in the future.

Spirit Seekers by DoubleBlackStudios 2019-05-10T04:51:28Z

This is probably the best looking game I've played yet, both from the art style, intractable environment and animations, and the shader change that shows how close the laser is. Unfortunately this is also one of the most frustrating games I've played so far. The player can get stuck on platforms unable to move, they always get stuck when trying to move into walls, attempting to wall jump off walls seems almost unintentional for how inconsistent it is, and jumps in general have a chance of not resetting if you land not completely on a block. Pretty much everything about this game is fantastic, from the amount of upgrades available to the theme to the downwell-like visual style, but it just makes the basic platforming mechanics feel that much worse in comparison. Overall the game was pretty great and I would love to see what other games come out of you.

Stilts by MuchosWaffles 2019-05-10T03:03:36Z

Honestly it's not that terrible of a game as long as you rebrand it as an "interactive experience". What you currently have in there in terms of art and sound seems pretty standard for a game jam game, and honestly if you had simply added things to upgrade your income or some other way to earn money you would have a pretty standard auto-clicker game. Also worth noting is I probably would have rated it decently in humor if you had allowed the option to. Overall it's a decent submission even if it is lacking in some gameplay aspects, but the gameplay needed could probably have been put in in about an hour or so if you had known what to look for, which should be easier the more game jams you participate in.

LD45 — Start with nothing

Castaway Capture by WiredOverload 2019-10-08T00:19:11Z

Whoops, itch link set to public @geoff-nagy.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Adrift by cdunham 2020-05-07T02:13:01Z

This was a pretty fun game to play and I think it actually has enough mechanics implemented to have enough material for quite a few more levels. because the player is always limited in the distance they can travel, and objectives have to be done in a specific order, it felt more like a free form puzzle level and the mechanics implemented really help with that. Because most of the obstacles could interact with each other, and most could be used to your advantage in specific situations, I was actually a little disappointed that the levels only used the obstacles as obstacles. I think that some "themed" levels would have been great in this game and would have let it shine a bit more, but overall it was still fun to play and the music was pretty nice as well. Overall great job!

Affordable Pet Care by domrein 2020-05-06T05:24:58Z

In my first playthrough I was given 5 dalmatians in a row and immediately panicked when right after one of the owners wanted their specific dog back haha. Overall I think the game was executed pretty well with a pretty large amount of animal sprites and animal movement so you can't just organize them by time received. I wish there was some other mechanic to help match up the animal to the owner, by possibly leaving clues on the owner sprites or having walls in the holding area to at least attempt sorting the animals to add a layer of depth though. Even without help though, the game never felt impossible due to the fact that they still took their animal back on wrong answers and give a life back on correct answers, so I think you hit the balancing right. Overall good game, and you guys did great!

Helicopter M.O.M. by Evan Minto 2020-05-06T04:58:33Z

I think that this game, while just a combination of two common other games, managed to pull both off pretty well together. I appreciated the fact that you couldn't really cheese the game by keeping your drone in one spot due to the spikes, and there were enough targets to constantly make me forget to jump until I manged to split my attention better. Unfortunately I wish that the drone movement was a bit slower or more easily controlled as most of my deaths were due to the drone overshooting where it wanted to go, or overcompensating and not getting to where it was needed in time. Additionally, while constantly holding down the fire button was the best strategy, I found myself not doing so just due to the repeated loud shooting sound. Other things that could have been nice would be a high score for distance traveled or more platforms for the robot to jump on, but the game felt pretty complete even without anything else. Great job!

trader, raider and space by dimesto52 2020-05-07T02:36:18Z

I played the game on a keyboard and I still had a fun time once I figured out the controls were arrows keys and the numbers 1-4. In general there was a ton that was packed into this game, I was really impressed! I agree with everything that @Anonymous listed but I would add that each individual level felt too long especially with the amount of levels you have to go through to get enough money. Additionally while the trading economy was pretty cool, I wish there were more items with similar prices, because you only want to buy the two most expensive things you can afford, anything less than that doesn't ever seem worth buying. Overall great game and good job!

Broadcast Bandits by zoarfy 2020-05-04T00:00:56Z

I loved playing this game and kept playing it to see if I could do better once I understood the controls better. Unfortunately, I couldn't consistently get higher scores due to the luck involved with finding gas cards or vertical movement cards. I think one way to easily fix this issue could be to just remove the left and right cards as I never found myself wanting them. Additionally I found it hard to remember the different turn phases and found myself mis-timing actions more than I want to admit. Finally, while I did enjoy the background music, I think it might have been an odd choice for this cyberpunk car getaway game, even if it is turn-based. Overall I still enjoyed playing this game and I liked the unique card background look to this tile-based game.

Blinded by the Dawn by WiredOverload 2020-04-24T00:27:32Z

Hey @fryer, it was probably hard to see due to the same color palette being used for the spawned little moss guys and the larger moss spawners, but those moss guys were actually being created constantly when the spawners were stationary. The right click just controlled how the little guys moved, which is probably why it could feel inconsistent if you tried to select and move spawned guys that didn't exist. There definitely are balancing issues right now that don't really make using the spawns worth it though haha.

Survive: eat or be eaten by jondkoon 2020-04-23T00:51:04Z

This was a pretty fun game. I wish that the level ups were mentioned or shown in a slightly different way as I thought I was just occasionally dying when eating something when big. Other than that it seemed pretty polished and done.

Sourdough Starter Simulator by kristina 2020-05-04T00:50:32Z

Fun idea for a game, and decent execution of it. I had trouble at first when I was using a 144hz monitor, but once I moved to a regular monitor it was fun to play. I wish there were more things to interact with when actually playing as the main gameplay is mostly just watching the small starter blob slowly make its way to an objective, but the game was balanced enough between the objective areas to still make it somewhat interesting. I also appreciated the starting interactive "cutscene" the game had, it's a small part of the game but I think it was a nice addition. Overall good job!

Super Despair Shooter by WTMK_BK 2020-04-23T00:38:51Z

Once I understood how to play the game I found it pretty fun. I do wish that the difficulty increased as time went on though as there was never really a point where I felt overwhelmed. Additionally it seems a bit strange that you have to take hits in order to lengthen the game and get a higher score, which is something I only figured out after playing it a few times. The game also required a refresh after getting to the end as otherwise the game would just give you a win immediately when playing a second time. Overall it looks like a pretty well put together game that could be fantastic with a few tweaks and directions.

Moo Problems 2021 by owl and jackalope 2020-04-24T00:34:29Z

I really liked this game as it felt pretty complete and with enough depth to make replays interesting and the later game feel different then the early game. I also appreciated the fact that you could throw the milk and cheese off screen which introduced a more skill-based element of trying to estimate the trajectories to buildings you can't see. My one issue with the game was just how expensive the tools felt to use as one wave of enemies could force you to use a whole cheese production cycle, especially early before you get an efficient rhythm going or are just learning the game. Overall though this really felt complete and polished and I really appreciated the small details such as the hamburgers and the freedom to pick up anything or use any object to at least delay approaching robots. Great job!

FIREGUARD by Puszkee 2020-04-25T02:00:23Z

I liked this game as it is a pretty well put together game that is pretty solid at its base game mechanics. Everything implemented worked smoothly and I appreciated the starting menu with options. I do think that the balance is currently a bit off as I survived for quite a few minutes by simply ignoring the enemies and fueling the fire. Additionally, the game simply gets less fun the longer the game goes on, even with the occasional acorn, you will run out of nearby trees, and running off into the forest means you don't actually interact with enemies until you return to the fire. I think with some slight balancing of the acorn drops to enable tree farms, more scary enemies, and some slightly better sliding off of terrain collisions, this could be an amazing game. Great job!

Chill Thrive by JDK2209 2020-05-04T00:21:12Z

Fun game to play, and it really fit the theme. Some parts of the game seem like they might need balancing, I never really had to worry about temperature, but I still did get a feel of urgency when certain resources made others drop quickly. I don't entirely dislike the wind control button, but because it is an unusual mechanic, I felt like it needed more feedback and an indication that it could be swiped even if there were instructions in the menu. Other small points were that the clouds took a lot more shaking to "stick" on a 144hz monitor and I wish there was some sort of progress bar for the tree between stages, but overall it was still fun to play and I think everything worked together pretty solidly, with a nice extra menu screen to boot. Great Job!

Keep Campfire On by FedeOlive 2020-04-23T01:08:35Z

This was a pretty solid game. It was nice that there were a lot of interactions between the levels of food and fire with your health bar, but I wish that there were some unique interactions with the gameplay itself. The fact that the game had a working title screen and even a volume slider was unexpectedly nice, and you even added parallax to the background even though it was slightly strange, so I wish you had more mechanics to make me want to play the game itself a bit more. Overall you guys did a pretty good job!

We are Darkness by DeCarlos 2020-04-23T00:21:58Z

Played the game with @alchemic before updated instructions were put on here. The visuals once in VR were great and fit well with the isometric view from the other player's point of view. We figured out that hitting spacebar did something, but we never entirely figured out what it did and were surprised every time the darkness won as all the rooms were up in flames. The one great part about having the game in VR were the occasional ghost jumpscares, but with the speed everything moved, that was a rare occurrence and did not really allow for reactions. Overall I wish there was a larger focus on what the person in VR could see or do, and maybe just in general making it more user friendly, but otherwise great game.

Outbreak Control by HammerCar 2020-05-06T04:45:44Z

This was a pretty fun game that I played for a while. I think you did a pretty good job with the balancing in that you can have periods of a giant population followed by absolute ruin, but you can usually bring it back up from there. I also noticed that there can be a bit of a viscous cycle in situations where the player has a very low population with large infection rates as infections cause a money drain, which was something I actually enjoyed as part of the game. I actually wish that situation were more common to make the game feel more like a constant struggle to get above that negative income point that would also make large outbreaks more impactful and less easily countered by mass vaccination. I also wish that I could see my high score of how many people I was able to have at once, but overall this is a fantastic game!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

not a gaem by euske 2021-05-01T07:52:32Z

Jokes on you, you can jump while right on the edge to never go deeper making the challenge of staying on your current floor have a smidge of gameplay.

Falling Dwarf by Garywiss 2021-04-28T01:50:26Z

Loved the visuals and the complete intro/shop area, it was a fun game to play. I do wish that the camera was controllable as moving backwards towards the camera can be blind while falling, and I also wished there were hazards on the way back up. It also seemed like the actual angle of the player would change when hitting something on the way up, which could cause issues with the player not being able to correct in a certain direction until they hit a wall. Overall great game.

The Cave by incobalt 2021-05-01T04:07:36Z

The best part about this game is the fact that the game reminds you of the stupid names you gave the torches. I was pretty amused when the following came up: torch.png Other people have given feedback on the actual gameplay, but I would also like to point out the game is basically the exact opposite of the theme, getting further and further out lol.

Red Stranding by Alchemic 2021-04-27T20:00:21Z

Glad you liked the game @labete, but for future reference the night never ends, torches need to be refueled with other torches (just press Z again with torch selected), and berry bushes need to be watered/fed/grown the same way. Hope that helps!

Red Stranding by Alchemic 2021-04-28T07:13:27Z

@goldenpalazzo, the WebGL version should let you connect online, let us know if you have any connection issues and what errors you hit if you hit any.

One-Butt Alien Corridor by PeachTreeOath 2021-04-30T09:28:08Z

I had a fun time playing this game! I think you got the balance to a good place and the levels I got through were all manageable even with the occasional obstacle. Specifically I enjoyed the fact that you put in occasional hordes on a side to keep the game interesting. I do wish there were more situations where two or more soldiers all need to focus fire on the same enemy, but overall I really enjoyed this game. Great job!

Some Great Cave Offensive by IkigaiSeitetsu 2021-05-05T04:16:43Z

This game was one of the most fun to play! The level design was a pretty heavy focus, so it was nice that it was pretty decent. My largest complaint is that certain section relied on velocity from previous sections, which is a fine mechanic, however the lack of margins on the camera and the slow camera room transition meant that certain rooms were more annoying than fun, even though the rooms *should* be fun by their design alone. That issue was exacerbated in multi-section rooms where you die a lot, which also happened to be some of the more fun rooms, which is a shame. Smaller issues were getting stuck in the floor when falling from height, pretty common issue, and I would love something to warn the player that the game is about the end when you hit the igloo so I could grab more stars first. Overall this was a really great game that was definitely worth the time I put in.

Fleeting by Shess 2021-05-17T06:13:36Z

Honestly probably my favorite game this jam. The music, UI, and layered effects made the mood pretty fantastic which goes pretty great with the overall story told in the text in the bottom right. The gameplay worked pretty well, the player learns to move just enough to not get hit from behind while still steering in something close to a straight line, which adds enough depth for a game jam. The tank controls mean that if the player ever bumps into anything, it's pretty slow and annoying to to rotate and get up to speed again, which happened more than I would have expected since stunned ships keep their velocity. I did get stuck in a large pile of ships at one point for 30 seconds, but I didn't take damage as the outside ships kept all the inner ones stunned, but you could probably find yourself in an impossible position. I also found that I could skip the middle bit with the ships by simply going in-between the "asteroids", so I wish that weren't as easy to do. Overall though, this game kept up a great mood and the gameplay really didn't let it down, making this a really fun game to play.

Tooth Toss by MadNukin 2021-04-30T05:38:07Z

Really loved this game and the different enemy types in there. The only thing I can complain about is the length of the game, I would have played three times the number of levels currently in, even if they had the same enemy types. The boss fights were great and clearly had thought and design put into them so I wish they felt more rewarding by spacing them out a little more. My favorite part of the game of catching the sword midair and going wild also felt unintentional, which is a shame because when you successfully pull it off it feels amazing. Amazing game overall.

One Shot in the Dark, Now I'm Dead. by kiririn51 2021-05-17T06:35:46Z

I enjoyed this game more than I was expecting to. I'm also glad that the 30 minute timer mentioned wasn't real as I had to take a break halfway through for an hour lol. On the more technical side of things, the fact that everything worked as expected is an achievement as I've seen more than a few fake OS type games that simply don't completely work. The video and audio parts were also pretty effective at visualizing the story and really made the game more engaging than if it were just text, so I'm glad you added them in. I do think that because everything was in distinct file forms, it wouldn't have been too hard to add in some short branches that make more sense story-wise, e.g. reading an article opens an email related to it immediately before another pending article is read, but overall the pacing is nice. I'd have also loved some other identifying characteristics of each character, like a tiny profile image to remember who was who, as I started to forget some near the end. Overall great experience!

Into the dark by Krash01 2021-05-01T04:29:08Z

Nice atmosphere in the game! You mentioned that the main drawback of feature creep was the small amount of levels, but I would also say that that the ballooning amount of features every level meant that the player is never really attached to a single mechanic and never figures out what the game is "about". I kept expecting to need to use a previous mechanic such as finding hidden white walkways while in the darkness, but would instead need to use a different one-off mechanic. Scaling down the feature set of a game isn't only about the time it takes to make it, but also to allow the player to more fully understand each part of the game. Additionally, don't be scared of making the player use the same mechanic two levels in a row, as long as the setting is different, the player will not get bored that quickly and levels can be created faster. Good first jam game!

Shelter in the Deep by qfeys 2021-05-17T23:14:17Z

Really liked the theme and idea of this game and it turned out great, especially for a compo! My only complaints were that the game seems pretty solved if you have enough drills going at once as it doesn't seem to get harder as you go down, even with the harder rocks. Additionally a disabled scroll near the bottom left where the buildings are would have been amazing. Overall a great base game that stands on it's own!

Fallen Angel by Eduardo Yukio 2021-05-01T07:31:02Z

Glad I finally got to play a Downwell type game. Loved the music, the balancing felt pretty great, but the obstacle sections felt a bit strange. The horizontal challenges seemed a bit hard due to the low ceiling, and the occasional slopes were very easy, maybe some acceleration mechanic could have changed that. The theming was on point and overall pretty fun to play!

FALL DEEP INSANITY [R16+] by MachMarten 2021-04-30T06:27:36Z

Fun game with enough effects that you build an internal tier list of them. The RTX effect specifically was great because you could cheese a few levels with it, which made me think about how good the game would be if each effect had some minor perk. The web build had some pretty large mouse sensitivity level issues, but that might be related to a high refresh rate monitor. After finishing the game, I still didn't completely understand the use of the snacks scattered around, I still seemed to get effects while full on the bar and the ones I got when the bar was low didn't seem much worse. Overall good game!

LD48 Deeper and deeper by GHubert 2021-05-01T08:15:11Z

Fun and interesting game I haven't seen before. It did seem like you could eventually go forever by making sure to hit the side of a same colored block while digging downward, but figuring that out took a while. I also got trapped a few times by not realizing the player is no longer in control while in the air, which I'm not sure is necessary but does add challenge. I did also run into a bug which caused a run to end early here:shot.png Overall good complete game!

In Search of Paradise by Magnanix 2021-05-01T09:34:34Z

This was a pretty fun game once you got to the popular well endowed Anime Antagonist. I did spend close to a minute trying to find my way out of the first room due to how dark it was though, and I do wish there had been some way to expand the boss fight into more content. Great start for a game overall, and you definitely got a great clickbait thumbnail out of it lol.

It's Nice Down There by TheJonu 2021-05-13T22:31:49Z

Great feeling game. The atmosphere was done very well, with the sprite effects adding a lot while being unobtrusive. The progression into scarier monsters was also done well, although it did highlight how short the game was. I liked the platforming puzzles that you had in the game, but it did feel like you were pretty heavily limited by not including some sort of jump, and I'm not sure how many more puzzles you could have done with only ladders and enemies if you ever wanted to expand it. Overall great game!

Past the Final Frontier by towergame 2021-05-01T07:05:43Z

Fun game, I enjoy Kerbal space, so Kerbal space with only the planning and a bit of flavor is fun. I did run into performance issues with the web build on fullscreen, but it is the web build. The readiness also didn't seem to mean much after Adequate as I crashed 7 times in a row with an excellent rating even when shuffling the components around. I also never really understood what the cockpit increases did other than increase the weight as they also didn't seem to help mission success. It also seemed easier to complete the dyson swarm then it was to go to Uranus or Pluto, so I did miss out on some content there as the game ends after completion. Overall great game!

Road to darkness by Tvorojok 2021-05-02T08:58:04Z

Amazing art with amazing music made for an amazing mood. There were more than a few bugs in the game though. Cards could be bought for 0 gold, damage dice with a number greater than 5 dealt damage to the player instead or would negate player armor, GPS or flares would occasionally report an XY of 0,0 even when the player was not standing on a balloon part, balloon parts in general were very inconsistent to the point where I was doubting myself on if I knew what they looked like, and the glasses and lens card effects worked differently than what the card stated. Dice also don't get cleared on death, which I'm not sure was a bug or feature, but it did mean you could easily "solve" combat by having one dice be all high block, and the other dice being mostly high attack with one high heal. I really wanted to finish this game as the atmosphere was great, but even with combat solved, I could never find all the balloon pieces due to the bugs and not really knowing what I was searching for. Glad I played this game as it has a HIGH amount of potential.

Work In Progress by Aquarii 2021-05-01T04:48:51Z

The link does not seem to be working still, you might need to check your itch settings and make sure the game is out of draft mode and public or published.

Pharaohs Tomb by Tauheed Game Dev 2021-05-02T08:06:22Z

Interesting game with potential that was really polished! I did have an issue with the gameplay in that I think the 3d mode should have been the main mode the player is in. Currently the game simply didn't feel that fun to me until I got the 3d mode powerup which let me both see the hole on my current level, but more importantly let me plan ahead and be efficient with the upcoming floors. The 2d to 3d effect really does look great, but I think the gameplay does suffer a bit from the main 2d view, maybe keeping the effect in a reverse powerup as a curse would let you keep both. Other minor complaints are not being able to turn the pillar while midair and the abruptly stopping horizontal velocity, but I could see reasons for both of those decisions. Overall though this is a really polished game with a clear concept that makes a good complete game.

CubeMiner by Coolp 2021-05-01T05:15:45Z

Decent effort on this game to the point where you did get a pretty complete game out, even if there are some gameplay issues. Like the above comments, mining is not the most fun when using both the mouse and while having no block outline or progress. I'm also suspicious about the use of the speed upgrade as there's never really a reason to go sideways for more than a few blocks, and it makes climbing rather difficult, although I understand it was probably just an easy variable to change as an upgrade. I think another day of work with some other mechanic involved would have made this game really shine. Overall good first jam game!

Nightbear by Pierre Poupin 2021-05-17T17:49:11Z

This game was super fun and unique. I especially enjoy the fact that overall strategies aren't incredibly obvious and are something that evolves as you keep playing. I really like the inclusion of the dreams that you have to catch as it can break up whatever wall you were trying to build on the other side and keep your attention on your side of the field, but I did find that the punishment for ignoring them was pretty weak as the homing projectiles usually just immediately hit a wall. The best part of when I was playing was when I would accidentally build my partner into a corner, and because they are trapped, they could only build walls in that corner for me; I wish those kinds of situations would happen more often, maybe by adding half-walls or something. Overall this was a really great game to play!

Cosp by Pavel Popov 2021-05-01T04:47:12Z

The game isn't that difficult once you know what you're doing, but I think the UI and general speed of the game could have been adjusted. It took me a while to find out that the asteroids were actually getting turned into fuel, but that it just took a while and the progress bar does not move for the first few seconds. Additionally the decision to make a planet scan take over a minute seems a bit much, especially when you can just park inside it without issue. The timing issues could be a bug as a result of a high refresh-rate monitor and the waiting could be addressed somewhat easily with some atmospheric music, but I did successfully scan a planet with life and wish there was some kind of win screen if that does count as a win. Overall good first jam game!

yeeeeeeeeez by plague 2021-05-17T22:44:17Z

Seemed like a fun good looking game, but it looks like it might have issues with high refresh rate monitors causing the player to fall extremely quickly while still moving sideways slowly. Next time remember to call your update and render methods separately!

Minedeeper by korfi 2021-04-28T07:10:16Z

I loved playing this game as balancing how far away the closest drop is, how far away gems on your level are, what the floor below you looks like, and how much time you have left can lead to some fun snap decisions. I also got a score of around 500 before I remembered you could jump, which drastically changed the nature of the game lol. I do wish the difficulty was more gradual and constant though as it seemed like there was a jump from the start to the midgame, but the endgame felt very similar to the midgame.

Mind Pit by Jordan Dube 2021-05-01T09:44:38Z

Fun game, I got pretty far before I saw the hints and saw that the pattern resets every dark square which I'm not sure I would have gotten. You can also get pretty far just by always guessing down, and if that's wrong guessing left, and then guessing right, I think that's correct more than half the time which might be enough to beat the game. The ambient audio was also pretty nice. Overall great game!

LD49 — Unstable

Junta! Police State 1981 by rjhelms 2021-10-11T05:13:01Z

I'm not sure why they got outraged, I barely killed anyone. Pretty fun!

Unstable Tables : Tales Of A Super Hero Waiter by paulhocker 2021-10-11T04:55:56Z

This game was pretty fun as a match 3 game. I appreciated the occasional hints that would come up for the less puzzle-minded as well as the very generous timer. I did note a few issues, the incoming blocks wouldn't render for combos, the hint could just be wrong for a few seconds after a match, 4 of the icons used incredibly similar colors which occasionally made finding patterns difficult, and the game actually crashed after I finished half the houses. I'm assuming the crash is from running out of houses to spawn a quest marker above as it happened when I was halfway through. Overall great polish and I'm glad you had a tutorial, although I never did figure out the punishment for matching too many peppers.

Unstable Flight of a Potato by Lerg 2021-10-11T05:29:12Z

This game was way easier to play if you lock the sticks in one direction and just treat the game like an old lander simulator. I would maybe suggest add more major checkpoints, making the game more punishing for large failures "Getting Over It" style. Overall, that potato really was pretty unstable.

鬼心伝 - A Story of Heartful Oni by kiririn51 2021-10-13T04:16:14Z

I thought I was pretty alright at these kinds of games but I never made it to a single boss, just kept dying to the double purple guys. Great artwork and sound though!

ShakyCats by Keith Wang 2021-10-13T03:42:24Z

I feel like this is one of those games that is better because it is not quite finished. The constant clipping sounds, the fish physics that allow you to launch cats, and the fact that the game runs perfectly fine with a hundred fish on the screen makes this the highest rated game I've played in humor. I love it.

Tumble Transport Inc. by ToSMaster 2021-10-13T04:20:51Z

Best game I've played so far. I did keep accidentally taping the wrong things though due to the items all having different click/click-drag combinations to use.

Unstable Magnetic Gun by piw 2021-10-11T05:41:51Z

It doesn't look like anyone else pointed it out, but wanted to post that the footstep sound appears to only play from the left set of my headphones on the web build. Overall cool idea, but I think it might have been more satisfying if the magnetism was stronger, had a more linear magnetism curve instead of exponential with distance, and if you "locked together" the rocks after they collide. Great first jam game!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Aster Defense by emrod 2022-04-06T02:54:07Z

Cool game with great graphics! The sound effects were also nice enough to make up for a lack of music. Having difficulty scaling would have made the game a lot more fun as you can currently beat the game with about 4 turrets. Additionally I wasn't really how far away radar stations could share their range and couldn't really figure it out. Overall great job!

LD52 — Harvest

Harvest Monster by gotchman01 2023-01-14T07:14:10Z

Personally I could only get this to work on firefox. I do love games where the player has limit how greedy they are or else be destroyed, but I did wish this game had a reason for the player to push their safety, even a simple end game timer would have been fantastic. Great plant sprites!

TamaTwitchi by Ravarion 2023-01-10T19:38:43Z

Harville by infecsean 2023-01-14T07:35:48Z

looks like the HTML5 version is acting a bit strangely with organs not being sellable past the first time, but not giving money anyway.

HARRR Vests by Lomby 2023-01-14T07:47:49Z

Pretty sure if this game tracked misses I would have been on the plank at least a few times by the end. The art is great, but I really wish you had enough time to add a gameplay element to make it a challenge. Great work for your first solo jam!

Food Flinger by ofoof 2023-01-20T06:20:52Z

Pretty fun idea for the main scoop mechanic and I especially enjoyed the fact that the scoop could get stuck on items on the floor until you wiggle it out and launch things at light speed. I found this to be a very easy game and was never in danger of having a timer hit under a minute though so I wish it was more of a challenge. I enjoyed the extra gameplay layer of having the move your guy around to press the buttons, but realistically in the game that only took a few seconds per order, so it didn't really make the game more challenging. If the guy had also had collision with the food, there could have been an interesting gameplay mechanic of having to clear out a path for your guy to go through. Also you were serious about the occasional gameplay lag spike, I survived through two but the third spike was so laggy I couldn't manage to clear out anything enough to fix it. Good overall game!

LD53 — Delivery

@fermingimpel we put up a windows build if that helps

Mad Meow: Purriosa's Panic by Strega 2023-05-02T03:29:03Z

Great game! It looks like you had a lot of fun designing the mad max cats which kept the game interesting. I liked the fact that the player and enemies were locked into columns, although I wish there was a visual representation of where those columns were. I also was only ever scared of the one enemy that shoots purple goop, especially as that goop goes everywhere if they die while firing, but it worked well in the boss fight. Overall really solid game with a lot of moving parts!

Bundle Beeline by Squidly 2023-05-02T08:17:54Z

Best looking game I've rated so far, and it's got more menus than all my previous games combined! I did feel myself getting a little frustrated from the pauses you get when descending or landing any jump, and the couple jumps that really needed full jump height kept tripping me up, which made the time pressure feel worse. I really liked the package throw, but unfortunately it didn't seem like I really needed it as running past enemies simply works better. Overall a really polished game where any moment looks fantastic.

Holding Out by Jeremy Ryan 2023-05-02T02:51:14Z

Great game! The delivery theme is on point, the art is really pretty good, the hold music is hold music, and the spin makes the combat itself interesting. I also really appreciate the cat ears on absolutely everything. I really liked the combat when it was there, but due to the ammo limitations the gameplay 80% of the time was waiting near a wall to draw the crowd away from the phone without shooting. The upgrades also have a huge spread in usefulness where Cricket and 50% extra ammo just means you can entirely clear the waves whereas in my first playthrough I just got dodge upgrades. The "pick two" system does help with that at least, so overall it was always still pretty fun.

Dressed Delivery by kiririn51 2023-05-14T06:42:44Z

Really fantastic art and audio here! I was really impressed by the fact that ALL the art assets were of great quality, including the borders, mini sprites, the cutscenes, and you still had time for things like character damage sprites. the gameplay was definitely good enough, but without knowing how much damage each character is actually expected to dish out and how much health an enemy has, it's hard to really plan out more than one step ahead. Moving also felt pretty punishing as it uses the whole turn, so I only ever felt the need to move twice in my entire playthrough. Finally, the art being fantastic in every other part of the game meant that the "just ok" overworld map felt a bit out of place, but that really is a minor nitpick. Overall I really cannot stress how good the game looks and how well everything fit together, you guys really did a great job!

LD53 - Box Crush by Furtive Pygmy 2023-05-04T07:22:55Z

It look like you got a lot done in the time you had! I can see how balance didn't quite make it in though as the goldfish can solo anything from wave 1. That said, you implemented more than I would have expected out of a simple TD including cheats(!) and an autostart(!!) so I can see why you didn't have quite enough time. Solid game overall and I loved getting rewarded every now and again with voiced sound effects!

QWOPcopter by Bytomancer 2023-05-04T08:27:03Z

Painful and fun, although that's partially my own fault for picking qwop mode. I did keep having issues with the claw getting stuck on one side of a wall and the drone itself being on the other, with the only way out being to try to turn yourself upside down so you could reset. I also found myself using the reset key a ton, which I don't think would have been necessary if there was a reverse thrust key which might have even made it feel more QWOPy. I did really enjoy the levels that were put in, although I did get softlocked in the first one by flying through the gate while it was closing. One small thing I did want to mention was that the city background was really well done and looked great. Overall probably the most fun I've had while being this frustrated, great job!

No Junk Mail by MisterKeefe 2023-05-02T08:37:48Z

Pretty fun game overall! I really wish there was a pause button so you didn't have to rush to figure out what you wanted to do before the deliverymen started spawning in, but that pressure does make the game feel more hectic. Nice implementation of a good idea!

Lost & Found by droo shayne 2023-05-05T06:03:06Z

Fantastic looking game with some pretty good theming! I wish there had been some way to know where the items are, or even where they're allowed to spawn as eventually hunting for those would take your entire candle's life. The enemies also weren't very dangerous which is fine, but it meant that hunting around for objects was the main focus, which again felt like it could be improved. The aesthetics really do help you forget all that though as they really are fantastic. Great job!

Inconvenient Conveyance by LucDeligne 2023-05-04T08:38:20Z

I got 426, although it took me a while to figure out that the packages were just shooting backwards and not being slung around. I also wish there were SFX, not just because they make any game better, but because it felt like I didn't have time to actually read the popup text which is why I didn't realize your 2nd and 3rd deliveries were worth more until a couple playthroughs. Really solid and put-together game though, I really can't think of anything negative to bring up gameplay-wise, good job!

HUBERT by ValentinWB 2023-05-04T06:59:46Z

Is this what driving in New York is like? I beat it second try and then failed 4 times in a row. Game looks really great and the setting is fantastic, great work!

Mech Express by No whOne 2023-05-04T06:41:32Z

I was surprised by how much I liked this game. The timing on the crate spawning was set really well to allow the player to get all crates and the odd cat movement in between if needed, and I think you did well on the overall difficulty scaling. Unfortunately it looks like the main strategy is just to pile all the cats together, and I don't think the green tanks were quite enough to fix that issue. That's a real shame as I think making the player prioritize between groups would really make this game shine even more. Overall really fun game with a good amount of hectic energy!

De-Evil-ery by Pipo 2023-05-11T11:03:06Z

I was finally able to play this in VR. I wish the controls had an instruction slide in-game along with the overall instructions as I didn't realize you could change to teleport movement until after. I don't think there was really any reason to upgrade weapons as spamming your first one takes care of anything, and trying to purchase and retrieve a new weapon is almost guaranteed to let something in. I also didn't entirely understand which way the book was aiming until I had used up all its ammo. The 3d models all looked pretty great though and all the interactables in the game worked fine, which is unfortunately not common in jam VR games. Overall it was a really solid VR game, and I'm glad I came back for it!

Mugen Express by Rasm games 2023-05-16T18:42:41Z

Pretty fun and interesting game! The core mechanic of switching between the wagons was well done and made the standard "shoot the enemy game" into something challenging and interesting. The art assets were good, the audio was pretty great, and I did appreciate the nice looking smoke turning into fire the closer you are to completely overheating (although I keep dying to that anyway). I do think that the gold tossing felt strange as the crosshair wasn't where the gold would end up, and I'm not sure tossing gold needed a long cooldown, although that ended up being fine as the gold cooldown is bugged. I do wish that the game had either more enemy variety, waves, or a way to heal the train to make the game last longer and be more strategic, but by sticking to scope you had here you ended up with a pretty fun game regardless. Good job overall!

Totally Silly Forklift Simulator by garnold02 2023-05-04T07:33:51Z

On the one hand I now know what it's like to be a forklift driver, on the other hand one of my pallets decided to freak out and my package got stuck under the table, so I will never forgive this game. forklift.png Other than that though, the game really felt complete and polished overall, so great job!

LD54 — Limited Space

A Shared Earth by Joror 2023-10-07T14:34:41Z

It looks like my playthrough was pretty similar to Remco's. Personally I kept spamming embassies at the crossroads of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia for maximum surface area and enough positive opinion to force some colonies, but thinking back you could probably just stack colonies. I also had the same events keep happening in Antarctica, and also had the same issue in the web build where I never got to see my final rating, but I'm sure it was excellent. As a small note I also wish I knew what changes were actually made to the post jam version, if they were all bugs fixes or if any minor tweaks were made. Overall though, the game does look very nice, especially the UI with included tooltips and graphs. The additional earth rendering options were also very nice as turning off the earth rotation almost seems required. Although the gameplay itself was relatively simple, the story and mood you had going made it a really enjoyable and polished experience! Nice job!

Fixey (VR Only) by shadowbrain 2023-10-11T02:19:33Z

Finally got my quest 2 set up to play this with the windows build! I agree with the previous comment that the shaky camera intro wasn't the greatest introduction, and the oxygen meter was uncomfortably close to my face such that I'd have to refocus my eyes to actually read it. Additionally, the first two times that I died the game never reset, so I'd just hear my man choking for a while until I manually quit out and relaunched the game. Once I understood that the gameplay was to find objects and where to plug them in, I was able to enjoy it as a mini escape room. I also liked the locomotion method, although I wish that your hands could still have interacted with the walls without manually grabbing them. Overall pretty good work for a VR jam game!

Orbitum Scaterum V2 (LD42 Revived) by TolMera 2023-10-05T11:55:19Z

The web version works although you do just have to give it a minute to load everything. It is a shame that there's not much game here, but the orbiting rocks do look pretty once zoomed out with their different speeds per orbit and realistic trajectories.

Raft Blaster! by Alchemic 2023-10-03T13:21:13Z

Hey @themixedmaster unfortunately we forgot to write it in the instructions, but you can pick up an item and immediately place it back down to swap positions with it which can help quite a bit in that situation. Hope that helps!

Brainspace by loveapplegames 2023-10-20T20:16:15Z

Interesting peek into behind the scenes of neural net creation, but I think I would have had a bit more fun and learned more if each puzzle had a solution you could look at or hints, as at certain points I really had no idea what I was missing.

HEADSPACE by jelch 2023-10-11T19:38:08Z

I could not stand watching this head and listening to the SFX after a while lol. I couldn't quite figure out whether there was a strategy other than to feed the head everything, but after a while it did stop popping out old thoughts. Overall this game did make me feel strong emotions, more so than any other jam game I've played so far.

how you use it by ThaProfesional 2023-10-04T11:54:17Z

This was a fun small game! The length of the sword and the fact enemies stay on the floor make it a bit of a puzzle game which I really enjoyed, although it's not very hard to brute force a win regardless of where you are. My main complaints would be the overall difficulty and length, when I saw the enemy with the large sword I was excited and it felt like the game was really starting but was left wanting more after that was the end. Overall the main mechanic was pretty innovative and fun which made the whole game innovative and fun, nice work!

Hope Falters by Jeremy Ryan 2023-10-04T11:08:39Z

Great work as always! I really can't think of any similar word/letter puzzle game, especially not with dynamic word splitting, so full points for originality. It's hard to have the right balance of subtlety and obviousness with emotional theme in a jam game, so incorporating it all into your word blockers like "doubt" and your main character "hope" was a pretty neat and effective choice. The whole game was really cohesive, so the only feedback I can really give is about the level design itself; personally I found "open ended" way harder than the final "Theseus" level, but that might have just been me overthinking things or getting into the right headspace by the end. Great game!

Free Shipping by peacememories 2023-10-20T17:55:59Z

Fun game that fit the theme really well! My only issue were the occasional Gmod style physics collisions that at one point sent my whole ship through the bottle.ship.png

Tombstone terror by Netarion 2023-10-05T09:25:12Z

Fun quick game! I wasn't entirely sure what the main "score" of the game was as both I'm still not sure what the main way to end the game is. The game ends when you reach 0 Faith which would make the number of graves the main score, but the game also seems to end when you just have a lot of graves at the end by spam clicking a whole bunch, which would make faith your main "score" again. there were also a few situations where it seems like certain pieces would generate ghosts even if they were in a group of three, specifically the T piece kept causing me issues. Somewhat related, I would have loved if the game was able to snap your pieces to a grid so I knew exactly how close I should be putting my pieces. Regardless, I really like the actual overall space fitting puzzle and how ghosts immediately start spawning as soon as you hit 2 pieces, which means you have to balance immediate lost points with rerolling for a better piece to put in your trio. Nice work overall!

The Crypt by Yury Kozhenov 2023-10-13T23:57:27Z

This game was more fun after I found it was framerate dependent, on my 144hz display I couldn't ever make it past 40 seconds, but on my 75hz I could at least make it to 15. Nice sound effects!

RAMpage by Blue Pin Studio 2023-10-05T17:03:24Z

This was a fun but hard game! I liked the aesthetics and had fun with the actual gameplay, but it did feel pretty heavily influenced by RNG as it impacted your spaces, available files, and modifiers on those files. in an above comment you mentioned not having the option to switch files, but you can actually do it if you click and drag a file multiple times far enough away. Even using the forbidden swap I never managed to make it past the last level though. Great job!

Limit at Infinity by APG 2023-10-05T14:19:26Z

It took a while, but I won your game! I think what would make it more intuitive without going all in on a tutorial or build order would have just been to show the player what is possible to build as I had to learn the hard way that defense spawners existed, which are essential to progressing. Additionally I think there is a fatal flaw in the game that you can simply bank up all the materials you need in your first sphere after building the abyssal thread, so you can simply create a new sphere and immediately place down the thread and portal five times until you win. I liked the idea that you can only place certain things on walls or floors, but again that works better when you know what is available to place on said walls and floor, maybe just greyed out with a directional character like < ^ >. Overall, once I got past the learning curve I found a couple unique design decisions that still made the game interesting and I think it's a decent compo game, nice job!

The King is Watching by Tvorojok 2023-10-04T14:09:20Z

This is a great game! The graphics are great, the base mechanic of the worker selection is interesting and unique, and the overall progression felt pretty good except maybe the very last enemy. I want to give feedback, but really the only suggestions I could give is a slight rebalance on certain resources and a late game use for clay. This game is just really well put together and a well-rounded game overall, great job!

Zero Percent by Zykra 2023-10-11T23:22:14Z

I always enjoy grid based resource production games, but I think this one can be "solved" really pretty easily if you just have the right starting setup. You have enough materials to build two chemical plants and four miners at the 8 planet with enough material left over to kickstart the process, and that solves your material issues for the rest of the game. After that setup all you need is a farm somewhere to drop off materials every now and then, and an atmosphere harvester to drop off energy at in the same way. I actually think that making the planets larger would have made the game a bit more complex, as doing anything fancy like producing fuel, burning it for energy, and using that to make fusion fuel can only be done on the 8 planet without hand feeding. Overall I did have fun theory-crafting a build before placing anything down, and the animations of things moving around was a nice touch. Great Job!

Ghost Gambit by Shaggy 2023-10-11T19:18:46Z

Interesting game idea with the original goal being a hectic minigame battle royal type game. Unfortunately I couldn't find where to add bots so my impressions were just that one playing myself. Once I figured out the actual goal of the game, to collect fire and place it on a grave, I was able to do so consistently in about 6 seconds, so I'm not sure there would have been much multiplayer interaction anyway. I really enjoyed the environment, but for a game all about sprinting to two close locations, the occasional branch that stops you dead in your tracks can be a little rage inducing. I think some simple changes like requiring the player to get multiple graves would have gotten you closer to the competitive game that was the original goal, but game jams are all about triage so I think you should still be happy with what you've managed to create, especially when you're using a new engine. Good job overall!

I can't tell you how many times I accidentally brought up the right click menu and selected other windows frantically clicking around. I'm very glad you added a mute button for that last scream. Nice work!

The Big Crunch by Ategon 2023-10-16T19:49:52Z

Just wanted to say that the post jam version fixes every single point of feedback I was planning on giving for the jam version, so great job on identifying the problem areas and implementing good solutions for them!

Space, Yarr! by SnekOfSpice 2023-10-04T11:39:28Z

Overall fun game! Heads up though, the LDJam embed doesn't seem to work on chrome. The voice acting was a nice touch, but I wish I could hear it more while naturally playing the game versus having to click on a portrait. The levels had a nice amount of variety, but I was able to beat every level other than level 10 with 2 items or less with a couple needing 0 items which led to the game feeling less like a contraption building game and more of a golfing game. A couple of the obstacles felt strange with the portals inconsistently triggering the second time (were they on a timer?) and the repulsion obstacle not behaving how I would have expected, but the planet gravity mechanic felt pretty nice. Overall the art and audio was great, and I had a fun time playing all 12 levels, nice work!

Voidomana by TheSecondLeft 2023-10-11T20:02:26Z

Pretty fun game! It did take me a bit to realize that the "recipes" had to be done in order which led to me wasting a lot of orbs. The game also just became generally impossible after the space shrinks a good amount as the orbs would still spawn in the void, meaning you would just have to sit and wait for a new yellow to spawn in your area. The game is also just very long with my time being around 15 minutes, which unfortunately meant that I was waiting for orbs to spawn for a pretty long time. Overall though, the core game loop was fun and I enjoyed having to manage my inventory with what was nearby. Good Job!

Space In-Traders by StudioZyyt 2023-10-20T18:24:51Z

Fun puzzle game once I figured out what to do. Unfortunately the game can be won just by hopping over to the right, selling everything, and then immediately going for the portal which cuts down on the complexity. The game was fun enough though that I was left wanting more levels! Good job!

Black Hole Fun by Tuna Diver 2023-10-06T16:59:54Z

Nice pool game! I think you really nailed the pool collision physics including the momentum transfer between the cue ball and the planets. I do wish there was some way to hurry up the after shot transitions though as waiting for the ball to slow down, waiting for the edges to come in, and then waiting for your camera to zoom in closer can be a bit aggravating after you completely whiff a shot. I liked that you guys definitely had fun with the graphics and I think overall you did a great job!

YOOBD by Ch48 2023-10-20T19:27:51Z

I really liked the animation in this game and the core gameplay was solid. I really enjoyed picking up a few different gemstones before fighting the enemies, but since the "correct" choice is to wipe out each wave before picking up the next gem, I wish there was some sort of timer involved. Overall great game!

Phobia by KrisM 2023-10-14T20:57:11Z

I had the same issue as the others, tested on chrome, firefox, and edge. No error logged on the console, but a number is logged if that happens to mean anything to you guys.

Sky's the Limit by clema 2023-10-07T12:28:07Z

This was a pretty fun game! I really like how the game essentially makes you do two playthroughs, the first treating each level as a separate puzzle, and the second treating the entire game as one puzzle. on that note, I do wish that there were more than two levels before the final boss so that charting a path through the whole game felt a bit more rewarding. I also only realized on my second playthrough that the only reason you're killing enemies is because the boss angel tells you to, not for any in game benefit. Overall really solid game!

LD55 — Summoning

π•²π–—π–Žπ–’π–”π–Žπ–—π–Š by PistrunXvX 2025-04-13T06:25:25Z

I like the word-based Age of War game style! Unfortunately I ran into a number of bugs with certain units acting invulnerable, units stopping to attack invisible units or simply stopping permanently, units simply passing right by other units, and words overlapping in the book stage making them impossible to read. In the end I was able to get the enemy down to three hearts but had to leave with all three lanes locked up, which I will still consider a win.

EDIT: whoops thought this was an LD57 game, not sure why it showed up in the list.

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Hey @jack-d-taylor, at the win screen you can choose to continue and keep going with your run! Glad you enjoyed!

My Keyboard is Full of Ants! by Jeremy Ryan 2024-10-09T12:57:36Z

Pretty fun game! I'm really glad there wasn't a hard time limit as sticking to low letter count words was harder than expected. I did notice on my second run that just choosing the bomb upgrades and repeating the same words over and over to get the max time bonus seemed like an easy cheesy way to get a decent score. Overall great job!

Interstellar Cargo Maidens by kiririn51 2024-10-09T17:08:56Z

Great game with a really great and well responsive UI. I did find that the early game was slow to ramp up, then once you get one of the good research rolls speed up again until everything slows back down in the end game after Uranium. After finding the uranium trade I made more money than I could actually spend and just used an autoclicker to buy critters as they're the one thing you can always buy. While I really liked the star map I wished there was a button to go to where a ship actually was as otherwise you'd just have to catch them in transit. Overall I really liked the portraits and kept playing until I had seen them all. Great job!

Pick Up Lines by gamebuilder 2024-10-12T15:54:47Z

Took a while but I figured out the game and eventually won! I did miss pretty much all dialogue as I was holding down keys to move left and right, so I had to check the console to make sure that I actually won. I'm not sure if I missed any clues showing where to go *within* each maze, so I ended up just checking every room which wore me down a bit. Solving the initial puzzle of how to navigate the maze was satisfying though!

Dino Island Safari by Skleembof 2024-10-10T11:20:10Z

This game is pretty neat other than the fact that I want to throttle the cameraman. I found it surprisingly difficult and died before realizing you could hold down "fire" and got a score of 12260. The voiceover was obviously great, although I wish there had been even a simple model of the driver it was coming from. Great work!

Tiny Checkers by thyoi 2024-10-13T18:32:30Z

Great game that I had a lot of fun playing! I do think there were some balance issues as I had 600 gold extra by level 9 and found that I didn't really need to be clever with chaining together my jumps. It also seemed like the AI chooses a piece at random before determining what to do with it, which meant that I was rarely punished for putting a piece in a dangerous position. I also had my game crash at the second to last level with a null error when killing two pieces at the same time with a kangaroo, so I was unable to experience the end. Overall though I had a great time and I think the concept has a decent amount of depth to it. Nice job!

Silly guys breakthrough by dreo 2024-10-12T20:30:18Z

Like someone else said, the main strategy is just to keep dragging your archers slightly out of range of enemies so that they're in the perfect range to shoot and not get hit like stutter stepping in Starcraft. I also ran into the issues with keys not working consistently, was only able to get two cages open the whole game. I did have fun playing it though, nice job!

Bakudan Baku-tan by TwinkleSoft 2024-10-25T21:56:21Z

Really well polished shmup! Unfortunately I'm terrible at shmups. At least I was able to appreciate the great graphics, music, and wave system!

Life Of Our Body by Jeiji 2024-10-10T22:18:26Z

Nice job fitting three games into your game! I couldn't get it to run in chrome, but it looks to work fine in firefox.

Tiny Spider's Adventure!!! by Rhysss 2024-10-14T16:00:12Z

This is a great looking game! When playing the windows build it seems like the game does not quite fit a 1080p display, so there's always a bit peeking into my second monitor. I do love some good web-slinging movement for spider games and damaging enemies by careening into them was fun, but I did find myself softlocked at one point after launching myself past a gap into the void. I also found it somewhat easy to get lost and I'm pretty sure I skipped a chunk of the game getting to the boss. Overall great work and great spider!

LD57 — Depths

Fixey 2 (VR Only) by shadowbrain 2025-04-25T19:34:08Z

This was a good looking VR game! Things were great until I got to the robotic arm, after which I spent 15 minutes getting the green pipe into the outline multiple ways without it counting, at which point I gave up. I did enjoy what I was able to access though.

Wicked Into The Depths by GenericToast 2025-04-13T05:19:10Z

It looks like I've gotten the 1st and 2nd place (under John) on the leaderboard, but man was the platforming punishing. I think the level design could have used a second pass with a gameplay tester as the hardest parts of the levels felt like they were unintentionally hard. I would have also appreciated a slower ramp in difficulty as the first level was one of the harder ones, and the start of most levels were more difficult than their ends. I didn't find the controls as strange as previous commenters having played a large number of platformers, jam or otherwise, but most players would be more used to lower overall acceleration. Overall this is a pretty decent platformer with some real thought put into it with the level variety, and the existence of the leaderboard got me to do a whole second run. Great job!LDScreenshot.png

MS Drowning by Anton Florey 2025-04-16T07:33:41Z

This was a great game! It's hard to fit decent level design and a storyline into a jam game so I'm glad you were able to pull it off. This style of game also rewards weird ways to get around, so the gmod style physics exploits of pulling up on a board you're standing on to fly, or resetting your double jump by smacking your treads with a rock were enjoyable rather than annoying. I do wish that the music was louder compared to the SFX as I didn't realize how good it was until I finished the game and turned it up to judge it. Additionally the arm seemed to wig out more as it got stronger and longer, but was mostly fine when it was actually grabbing something. Overall I had a great experience just from all the small details distributed around, and from the fact that you can recapture and sell the captain if you find them down there.

LD58 — Collector

Purarger Collector by thyoi 2025-10-10T03:24:43Z

I'm actually shocked you managed to fit as much as you did into this game. The graphics are incredible, the sfx and music are nice, there are three different layers of secrets to complete, and it all just feels really cohesive with limitless polish. I thought the game was already great before I hit the ending which pushed it over the top. Really great job you guys.

LD59 — Signal

Astral Pilgrimage of Sound by auxiliarymoose 2026-05-03T09:16:05Z

Fun game that I wish just had a few more QoL features and adjustments. Others have mentioned the outer wild "match velocity, but the ship itself just feels very heavy, which makes the main challenging component of the game not overshooting the planet you're heading towards. I wish I could have hidden the introduction text as the window felt surprisingly restrictive when spinning around searching for planets. The skybox also has the occasional wisp that looks just enough like a planet to fool me for a second before I look closer. I really liked the sound combinations, so I was a bit sad I didn't really get to listen to the last combination before I won the game and was kicked out, being able to listen to unlocked combos in the main menu would have been nice. Finally I wish I could know which planets I've already scanned and "locked in" so as to not waste time with them again, maybe a different color of light. Overall nice game that I really enjoyed the atmosphere of!
