A really fun little game! The enemy variety was really impressive, the music was catchy, and graphics - though simple - felt polished with the nice particle / other visual effects. The gameplay definitely kept me on my toes as well!
A really nice game, it looks nice and feels great. Nice entry!
Cute game. It was interesting trying to balance using sticks to keep the fire alive vs using them as weapons. I liked the red laser shot of one of the enemies especially.

I like that there are so many different enemies that give you various items o mali. An arrow to your fire (or minimap) would have been nice. The music was a little bit annoying, but I liked the sounds.
Fun simple game. Tutorial made it quite clear what the game was about.
Few things I can give feedback on: * Picking up and throwing up a branch was quite weird at first. I ended up throwing couple of sticks into oblivion :P * I would really like to have some kind of HP indicator (if there is one, I didn't see it) * It would be awesome if you could lure fire enemies into the campfire to make the fire bigger and likewise water enemies would make the campfire lower

Very nice game although not very original, but it's okay as long as the game is fun
I really enjoyed the mood of the game. The game's art, music, and style all made the game feel calming and nice. I really liked the concept of being able to set sticks on fire to then launch at enemies. This mechanic was pretty fun. Good job!
WOW
Very fun game. Love the music. One thing i would change is collision radius. There was couple of times that I thought i have enough space to run next to enemy and got killed. Also movement fills a bit heavy but I guess thats the feeling you were going for. Great job.
Nice little game with simple mechanics. The idea can be developed more. Cute game indeed

Wow, this game is amazing. Well done and very cute. Loved that you had time time make different enemies. Great work!
I LOVED this. The vibes, the art style, the atmosphere... did I mention the vibes! The sticks did seem to fire a bit too far, but apart from that it was fantastic! I really love that you put the option in to share seeds too. Nailed the theme too. Good job!

Very cool, I love the graphics and atmosphere created along with the audio. I had one game where no monsters ever came for some reason, but other that that everything was very smooth. Great work.
I really like how you can light sticks in the fire and then shoot them at enemies. However, there are a lot of enemies and not that many sticks. I figured that burning down trees would result in more sticks, but this didn't seem to be the case.
Nice game, I find it very tough, even on easy! Art is real good, and controls are polished. Amazing athmosphere! Well done

I like it, the graphics are beautiful, i like the fact that you can put a seed, this gives the game a bit more replay value. The sticks were a bit strange to put them in to the fire, sometime i would just throw them away in to the void :).

It's a fun game, though it lacks some of the ambience that would make it feel more imposing. This is partly due to the lack of contrast in the lighting, as well as the somewhat irritating music. I enjoy throwing the sticks around, but it took a while before I realised I had to light them on fire.
The particle effects are nice and the graphics are pretty great overall. It's a nice and cohesive style and it fits that "polished retro" look quite well.
In one round/attempt, it seemed that no enemies would spawn, no matter what. I don't know what would cause this, but it's a minor issue since you can just refresh the page.
Nice game! Beautiful!
I like the game and I like the idea throwing sticks at enemies to get rid of them. Also graphics is really simple but easy to read - me like it :) I couldn't figure out how to put sticks in the fire, but I kept shooting at enemies, so it went well. There was bit strange behaviour with menu buttons like their active zone was bit off compared to mouse location.

The idea could have been developed a little more especially with how the campfire works. The art was cute and gave it a good mood the audio was pretty well done and the combat felt good. Your player is a little slippery but for just a simple game its nothing to bad. I enjoyed the game and with more features, I would definitely play it again.
Nice work! I like the enemy design, they look really cool! A few varieties might have been nice. I think the music is a bit on the heavy side, might work better if it built up alongside the gameplay a bit more. I really like the difficulty option as well for terrible gamers like myself!

Ok, today I'm the last living human. Great. And my only light source is the bonfire. That seems a bit tragic. What am I supposed to do here but go extinct. Oh well, lets give it a shot anyway. There's a peculiar tune playin in my ears too. But it feels nice, so it's no bother. I feel very nimble and this body seems to respond to my commands easily and naturally. But oh, monsters are coming for my fire! What now. I bounce a round for some time until I figure out I can pick up branches to throw at things. But not rocks. I would prefer to throw a rock at the monsters face. But anyway. Throwing branches. Nothing seems to happen much. The monsters seem to just chase me so the bonfire is safe I guess, so much for protecting it. Suddenly I also realize I can see regardless of the bonfire. I thought it was my only light source. So let's explore. I find nothing much. At some points the trees run out. So I go further, I'd rather leave the monsters behind and explore anyway. There's nothing here is there now. Well. That was a stupid move. I guess I'll lay down here and wither away. Such fun was had, but I think it's my time to go. It was a good life, but since I am the last living human, what point is there for me to go on anyway. Dear monsters, you can have it all. Goodbye cruel world.

@gimblll unfortunately you didn't read the tutorial. It explain that you can pick up sticks and light them on fire. We did think about that fact you can run out of trees. We made them drop seeds, that you maybe didn't see.Thank for that feedback
Nice game, really fun to play, we had a similar idea but it ended up quite different
The art was fantastic! Gameplay was also fun, it was neat lighting the sticks on fire and throwing them at the tree monsters.

Nice little game
Cute game! I liked the aesthetic of it, just thought the throwing sticks into the fire was not very intuitive. Here's my playthrough of it: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/600641769

I was blown away by the quality production of your game ! You can be proud of you ! Everything are well crafted, especially the graphics, I liked a lot the bloom effect put on the post-process !
Overall very nice work !
I had quite abit of fun with this one, fast enough that i could evade enemies but enough obysacles to slow me down so that i would need to panic! I didnt realise until my second playthrough that you could light the sticks on fire and then throw them at the enemies, this made it alot more fun to play. Good job!
I liked this game as it is a pretty well put together game that is pretty solid at its base game mechanics. Everything implemented worked smoothly and I appreciated the starting menu with options. I do think that the balance is currently a bit off as I survived for quite a few minutes by simply ignoring the enemies and fueling the fire. Additionally, the game simply gets less fun the longer the game goes on, even with the occasional acorn, you will run out of nearby trees, and running off into the forest means you don't actually interact with enemies until you return to the fire. I think with some slight balancing of the acorn drops to enable tree farms, more scary enemies, and some slightly better sliding off of terrain collisions, this could be an amazing game. Great job!

@wiredoverload We actually did think about that. We made the trees drop seeds that you can plant. You maybe didn't noticed them

A bit tough for me, I couldn't survive past a minute, even on easy :(. I liked the graphics and animation, the player movement one especially is quite cute and the camera movement was nice too. The balance of using the twigs as weapons vs fuel was interesting, and I like it when you have to consider things like that, especially when you're having to do it while dodging around enemies. I would have liked it if I could still feed a stick to the fire after setting it aflame, as I kept accidentally doing that when I needed to get the fire up and burning again. The music and sound effects were great, fit the game well and you had them for everything :). I did notice a weird bug on the main screen, where I only click the lower half of the Play button? Not quite sure what's caused that.
it's simple but something is clicking, and it hooks you. It REALLY needs some UI elements to help understand what's going on,and there are some bug here and there (maybe the cause is the random generation?) with some polish it could be very fun
Cool and unique aesthetics, nice animations. I love that you can set the big trees on fire!
Overall well done!
HTML5 (web) didn't work for me. Using Chrome on Windows 10. Tryed the Windows version and it runs fine.
I find it quite amusing and played several times, but couldn't go past the 2 minute mark. While the concept it's simple, it is easy to understand and the mechanics are very polished, the game works like a charm. Also, the graphics are really good and the sound is great. I just missed a background soundtrack during the main game, just as in the title screen.
Excellent job!
Cool idea. The bloom made the the scene look really nice. The mechanic was was simple enough to understand and fun to utilise. The only small issue I noticed was when the slimes spawned the potions the sprites was quite squished but overall an awesome game.

Once you figure it out, it's really fun! The pixelart plus bloom effect are a great combination I've not seen much and were pulled off in a really cool looking way. Nice catchy music that fits the mood really well. Also, the sound effects do add quite a lot. Maybe make clicking through the tutorial mandatory before starting the first game, I feel like it really is necessary and it's pretty hard to figure out what's going on without it. One thing that really confused me in the beginning was that you can't throw burning sticks into the fire. That made me think I misunderstood the mechanics of throwing sticks into the fire until I looked at the tutorial again later.
As others have said, I was confused by not being able to throw burning sticks into the fire. Once I figured that out, I liked the balance between throwing sticks at enemies and keeping the fire going, and the variety in enemies. The higher pitched parts of the music became a bit grating, but I really enjoyed the bass line.
I played it a couple of times but i could never figure out how to not use up the fire. Seems like there should be a way to "stoke" the fire either with the enemy corpse or something in the world to collect/pickup. The movement controls felt responsive but the character slide around a bit which was slightly frustrating.
All in all it was a nice effort for the game jam and just a few tweaks could make it really funn!
Besides some issues with players being unable to work out how to stoke fires and hurt enemies, I really loved this game. Has a beautiful aesthetic and super fun controls.

Interesting mechanics that used for keeping the fire alive and at the same time to attack enemies. The game is quite challenging tho =)
The throwing mechanic was a bit odd, a couple times I accidentally threw sticks off into the distance, a limited range would've made sense. It also might've made sense for you to be able to melee attack enemies, holding a flame against them instead of throwing it. I could still attack even after dying, simply deactivating the player or at least the components controlling his attack when he died could prevent that. Graphics were good for the most part, I'm guessing you just didn't have time to finish the main character. Sounds and music were perfect. I liked how you had to add sticks to the fire, but also sacrifice the fire to make your stick into a flaming weapon.

Pretty! The controls seemed a little loose, but love the enemy character design, lighting, and fire effects. Also, you may want to figure out another way to keep me at the fire and I would love to be able to pick up multiple sticks. Great job!

Very cool game! At the beginning i had some problems with controls and figuring out what it is i need and can do, but I got it eventually. At the beginning i was just collecting branches and throwing them in fire to sustain it's size, that seemed natural. I also tried to throw branches at enemies, but it seemed to do nothing, then i discovered that i can set them on fire and was like woah. Then I also discovered I can actually throw fire branches at trees to burn them and it generates more branches. That level of interactive and thought-through environment is always very welcome, it reminded me of smart moves Don't Starve introduced. Very nice entry!

Pretty fun entry, i could steal some idea from you ^^
Fun game overall, love the feel, i want to make everything burn in your game tho.
I find the difficulty curve going extremly high real quick, i didn't have time to get used to one enemy that i had a lot of other enemy trying to kill me offscreen, make a great die&retry system, that also avoid to get to wait 10 minuts to get some difficulty, but that's also frustrating on the first run, and kinda kill the fun of the discovery.
I played on normal btw, i assumed that was the way you wanted the game to be played in the first place, maybe i'm wrong about this and should have picked easy.
Great entry !

@slimbun No, I didn't. I usually try game without and only turn to tutorial when I can't understand game. It's more fun that way. Pretty sure that's the case for bunch of players. Did I get something wrong though? Anyway if game can be understood without tutorial it means it it a good game, in my believe.

Pretty cool game. I liked the challenge to keep the fire alive. Also the mechanic about having to choose whether to use the sticks to hit enemies or keep the fire alive. The music was nice but gets a little repetitive after a while. I liked that you used audio effects for player feedback. The variety of enemies was pretty nice and the buffs and nerfs (eg speed-up and slow-down) added a little more welcome complexity to the game. I encountered the bug where no enemies were spawning a number of times and it was kind of annoying. Also, the player movement was a little hard to control for me. It felt a little bit slippery like walking on ice. All in all a fun game.

A very nice entry. The pixel art and the mood with music are very good. And the control too. All the game is very clean. Only this bug that you know... Sometime there's no spawn of enemies. And the forest is perhaps too big. One time, I was exploring it and I couldn't find the fire again (But perhaps it was consumed and the game was stuck). Anyway, congratulation to the team. You mad a very good job!
I loved the animation on the main character! LOVED it :) I found that I can just run around and get sticks and the enemies were so slow that they didn't really bother me at all.
I found it super difficult but the animations were nice and I liked the character art all around!

Hey, cool entry. I love the throw the stick in to the fire to keep it going(took me a bit to figure that part out). I gave it a handful of tries and did eventually last 3 minutes then I got hit with something purple offscreen. 😀
Nit Picky notes below: I have a few notes for you for future references. I've personally noticed during Ludum Dare that people tend to not click a tutorial or a help button, so it's best to find a way to hide it within the game. Once the game opened I quickly pressed play and tried to figure out what to do. Once I couldn't, and died, I clicked the button to "try again". There's currently no easy way to get back to the main menu without refreshing (Making it difficult to change the difficulty as well)
Adding this to the title screen script will make it easier to release your build on web_gl and desktop, without the quit button showing up(Forgive me if you already knew this) #if UNITY_WEBGL quitButton.gameObject.setActive(false); #endif
Nice game, really solid overall, with good gameplay, graphics and sound. Bit of a personal complaint, but I just wish it had an ending/a way to win. Again it's just something I have a problem with, but still, I fueled up my fire, then ran off into the nothingness until my fire burnt out. Unless of course there is a way to win and I am just stupid. xD
But yeah, good game!
Nice little game. Good job!

Overall, it was really fun. Tough a bit, but fun, and the design really nice! :)

Interesting aesthetic, with a lot of nice bits of polish! That said, the gameplay loop didn't really make sense - There wasn't any incentive to stay by the fire or to fight enemies, so I didn't.
If you're not actively trying to fight enemies, the game becomes very easy - Just ran down and to the right, whenever an enemy spawns near you. Because nothing is able to slow you down and there are no walls to stop you, you'll eventually end up "out of bounds" as it were. After about five minutes, I was pretty sure that I could have kept running away indefinitely, without ever losing.

Nice fend-em-off! Had to figure out that throwing wood into the flame kept it alive, but clear otherwise.
The difficulty ramps up a bit fast, but that might be just me.
