This was fun once I figured out how to play. My score was 6316.

That was such a great game (but I've forgotten my high score!) I had a similar idea during my brainstorming session but even if I had done it that is an amazing way to do something like that. Fits with the theme perfectly!
Clever use of the theme. Nice music. Clever shrinking world mechanic. I wished for 'tighter' controls so that I could feel more like "I'm an awesome spaceship" and less like "i'm dragging something around on a string." :video_game:
I agree with @netguy204 on the controls comment however I don't feel like it took away much from my enjoyment of the game 9600~ high score btw. The game was very fun and I loved the audio you guys used.
I like the concept and accept for the controls its a good game. got a solid 11900.
Really like the ray tracing joke. Also  to TypeScript !
Very intense game! I enjoyed it, but my wrist also hurts :D I got 75530.
@bobgar woah 75k is insane! Haha yeah I'm having to ice my wrist after all that testing this weekend. Thanks for playing!
@netguy204 @seannewman22 @greenboxgames Thanks for the feedback. We're considering revamping the game post jam so we need this kind of critique if we choose to move forward!
This game is super fun! @bobgar beating me again! I only made it to 45k haha. Once you play long enough ramping up points is easy by blasting all the squares with their insane spawn rate. I personally really liked the controls, the only thing I would've liked to see is instead of shrinking left to right is having the game shrink radially from all directions so as I'm flying back and forth to get away from the dark, I have stuff to shoot at. great job!
@andreww Thanks for playing and thanks for your kind response! One of the ideas that popped up during development was to have the stage shaped like a big circle and do exactly what you said, have squares spawn radially from all directions rendering the darkness to close in all around the player. This idea proved to be too mathematically challenging to solve in a single weekend, but currently we are in the process of refactoring some of our ugly code to prepare work on version 2.0. So be on the lookout for that! :)
Wow, Xonix and Asteroids mix. I like it, nice work!
Really neat concept! I'm a sucker for vector-ish stuff, so this was really nice. Only gripe is it's a little annoying to spam the mouse button, maybe holding it down to rapid fire would be better since the game seems to be testing your aim more than your reflexes. Still, good regardless!
@sciman101 Thanks for your feedback! We realize the shooting design may have been a bit shortsighted. As we've discussed post-jam, we certainly should've implemented a "click & hold" shoot mechanism. Oh well, it wouldn't be a jam if we put out a perfect game, thanks for playing!
Clever idea! I want to be on the front lines but then have to keep retreating to stay out of harms way. Keeps the game from getting boring with a stationary "turret" style strategy. I also love (hate!?) when you manage to take down all the incoming and feel like you're super awesome...and then realize you missed a sneaky one that then takes a huge chunk of territory. Nice work.
That was really fun. Different idea than I have seen and that made it all the better. It was still really clear to understand but was a whole different type of game play. thx!!
This is what Ludum Dare games should be about! Loved the uniqeu mechanic of the enemies making the space smaller. And it's up to you to keep the area large. Very well designed!
Great job on the mechanic! I also really liked the music in the background. Well done!
Good ideal, but I think that use the mouse to move and shoot is not so good, as its easy to incaution to collide with the enemy while shooting. Maybe use the keyboard to move and mouse to shoot will better.
Super original! I did 32K before losing. Love the mood with the really cool music. I feel like a bit more feedback whenever you hit a node would have made it perfect. Awesome little gem here!
Should be a Siggraph and DXRaytracing api sponsored game...
Ok, this is great. Such a clever mechanic to answer the theme. Graphics a simple but perfectly suit the game. Music is good too.
