Thanks for the comment, sachos! I went ahead and uploaded a version that fixes the UI issues you had.
UFOs are working as intended. They're supposed to be refugees looking for a place to live. When they land, they suck up resources and start to suck the life force out of your world.
So there's two problems: 1) None of this is conveyed in game, and 2) the game is so easy none of the UFOs land sometimes! I always err on the easy side of difficulty, but it seems I've gone too far this time. Thanks for checking the game out!
Nice consistency with the graphics / gameplay / sounds! Felt just like an arcade game
Very cool pixel art! Died a lot. Music was harsh, but went well with the graphics. Didn't quite understand when to use shields vs weapons. Nice entry!
Absolutely love the concept of worsening cards as the game goes on! Wish there was a win condition, but the idea and execution of that idea are solid. Also could've used a "Wait" button to advance the dudes so I didn't waste a card. Got to Turn 30! Thanks!
Very cool! Concept made me laugh, especially the part where I figured out you have to walk by buildings to find signal instead of randomly roaming the streets. Great music, too! Wish you walked a bit faster is all.
Great graphics! The Ludum Dare theme was hilarious. The stat bars took me awhile to figure out. And Bill needs to lay off the reefer.
Very atmospheric! The animations and graphics were sublime. I liked the item descriptions as well. Well done!
Really interesting game! I couldn't figure out how much kernels or energy I had left, or when I would lose the game. The end seemed to come up randomly. Loved the GUI screen (fingerprints, smears) and the sounds were excellent. Wish I could beat it!
Loved the graphics! Hexes make me all warm and fuzzy inside. The game was pretty enjoyable for what it is. Surprising that it's your first entry. Good job!
Congrats on finishing a game!!
I really appreciated that you made the game more thematic. The falling objects looked like debris, the paddle had exhausts to represent flying and moving, and the ground looked like a station. Definitely needs a lot of polish, of course.
Hope to see your entry next time!
Interesting game! I really enjoyed the interactions with Homer! The space asteroids parts were a bit long, and it seemed shooting things was worse than conserving your movements and dodging at the last second. The quiz parts were a nice diversion, and the mining parts were fun!
Loved the look of the level and the main character! Wish there was an ending, or a way to lose. Instead I pretended I was in a never-ending dance-off, which made the game more interesting :D Getting them in a line for the dance-off was my favorite part! Get in line, fellas!
Great entry! The graphics were top notch, and I liked having to match colors while at the same time keeping an eye on what kinds of people were walking around. With the right music and people noises, this game could get really addicting!
Shooting felt really good, especially when you hit something. Graphics were great! I liked that the gameplay wasn't the standard controls; I've never seen an orbital shooter like that before. Pretty cool for what it is. Lighting was neat too.
Great job! The bills were hilarious! I really wanted the phone to work (867-5309), and the Red Button to do something, and to see hidden things in the room, and my tweets (covfefe) to do something! Everything was fun to tinker with. Top marks too for choosing music that builds atmosphere.
Oh and the real president wouldn't read that much. Maybe next time have an intern read out loud :D
Nice job incorporating a lot of elements! I liked the mini-stages with button pushing that had to be completed before moving on. I'd say the most important thing to fix is the controls. It's important in these kinds of games where the controls are everything. Also, going from 30+ energy to 0 when the you hit lava made me sad :( Perhaps just increase the energy loss rate while in lava? Anyway, great first entry! Hope to see more from you!
Fun little game! I liked how the mechanics were taught in-game a little at a time, and that losing had no consequences. Music and a sound effect would've worked wonders.
The last level was a cool way to end the game (via particle acceleration). Wish there were more levels!
Nice mood! Running into ghosts was indeed scary. In the end, I just ran for the exit instead of finding refuge in light towers. The final level seemed to have so few light towers compared to how big it was. Congrats on finishing!
Very cute game! The way the trunks swung around made gameplay fun (or at least funny - I laughed more than once). I enjoyed trying to swing some of the trunks into the ending area to try to "cheat" the system. Voice acting fit as well.
The ice felt a tad slippery, and the deaths seemed unfair sometimes. Perhaps reduce the hitboxes on things that kill you? Btw I'd disable ratings for Audio since the sounds were from freesound.org.
I settled in for a what I thought was going to be a nice, relaxing game, but then the critters kept coming! I was hood-winked, I tells ya!
;) Nice job. Keep up the good work!
Fun game! If you add a soundtrack and some pleasant sound effects, the game could be quite fun. I couldn't stop until I got a decent enough score. Nice job!
@daniel-jackson Got a link to your game? I want to check it out
Tried playing the game, but there was an error: "Data folder not found. There should be 'CorruptionSim_Data' folder next to the executable"
Those effects were amazing! Warning to others: don't play when your eyes are tired. You will regret it! Oh, and I liked the score being shown on the signs (although the final score read 0)
Good job!
I didn't mean to start a war! :P Beating it took way too long. I liked the crystals models!
Might be bugged? Noise level never rises. I can only move and press space to (visually) trigger car alarms. Nice graphics though
Good job, dude! Solid entry, especially for your first time. I had a lot of fun playing. Glad to hear you had a lot of fun making it!
It was a hassle to get up and running, though. You're allowed to create builds targeting other platforms past the deadline. So if you want other people to play the game more easily, I'd suggest resizing and making an .exe
Love all the little details! (insane boss, lava lamp) Is that Michael Scott yelling at me? I got a score of -21 after running through the list of questions a couple of times.
Blown away by the artwork! The voice acting added a nice touch. XBox controllers were greatly appreciated.
Fun game! Brute forced some of the puzzles, but maybe I just picked up on the mechanics really easy :P Really liked the unconventional way the game started, too. Good job!
Loved this game! It felt like my decisions mattered. I enjoyed that I could take a step back, look at the board state, and figure out what I had to do. And when the board started disappearing, it made what was a a nice little playthrough into an intense game of wits. Fantastic music, too. Good job
Zip file is fixed! Thanks for the reports @djibess and @adrianfl
@adrianfl I assure you, any problems with LMB attack is my fault, not yours! My programming skills just aren't up to snuff.
Thanks for the responses, everyone! We appreciate them all.
We added a Post-LD version with a bunch of Quality of Life improvements. The Brain Farter feels a lot better now. Thanks for playing!
Loved it! The bottom mechanic of moving the divider was amazing. That definitely should be explored more. Interesting idea!
Wow, great mechanics for a LD entry! I was surprised at how much variety and thinking I had to do. If the art was polished, maybe even 3D, I could definitely see a full game here. The last two levels were top-notch level design. Good job!
Was not prepared for that. What a ride. My favorite parts were the balls dripping blood, and the sudden ending. Great work.
Amazing looking game! Loved the clean graphics. The packages came so fast I was panicking the whole time. Wish I could utilize the back squares more often :P
Very nice mechanics! I had an fun enough time, but once you explained that the blue tiles were flying over the board, the game made a lot more sense. Cute looking graphics. Good job!
Loved the story progression! All the mechanics made sense and complemented each other. I really enjoyed the descriptions and what seemed to be constant references. Couldn't NOT get Spell 42 every chance I could. Great job!
This is what Ludum Dare games should be about! Loved the uniqeu mechanic of the enemies making the space smaller. And it's up to you to keep the area large. Very well designed!
Nice entry! It felt like I was playing Galaxy Trucker, the game! Thought the path looped, so my Earth cargo ended up being useless :( Had a fun time playing, though. Definitely would play a more fleshed out version of this.
Loved the thematic references! Couldn't figure out the alternate ending for the life of me, though. Thanks for the experience!
Best blueberry-based game since the NES! I really dug the art. The level design was pretty cool, especially growing and shrinking yourself. I just wish there wasn't a time limit; wish I could've explore more. Overall, good job!
Looks really good, and I liked that there were portraits of the different characters. Beam animation felt nice. Time management is always the bane of my LD experience, too!
I was smiling from beginning to end! And the last ship actually got me to laugh. Fantastic job with the theme. Everything - graphics, audio, gameplay - was really well done. My only complaint is that ALL YOUR BASE wasn't in the game :P Oh, and the 'you died but it's LD so keep playing' was awesome - thanks for that!
Were there any differences for cat vs dog besides the GUI? (great details, btw)
Voxels ftw! Very neat idea, killing your favored god's minions for a higher score. If only I could live up to Zeus' high expectations :P Good job!
Very sweet game! Lovely graphics, music worked well, and the gameplay played very nicely into the theme. It was a tad too easy at the end, but maybe I just got really lucky. Very nice!
@fizzhog Hold onto the pen, and release it onto a sacrifice (doll, bird, cat, or goat). You can also release it on the bowl to change colors, which you then click on a sacrifice afterwards.
The sacrifice should move to the camera, and you'll be given a window to draw in. Draw a symbol from the book, and when you click Return, a gold symbol will appear to confirm your pattern. If no gold, you can try again on the same sacrifice.
Thanks for the interest!
I really liked the light vs dark theme you got going on. Moving around the levels was both hectic and calming, somehow. I'd be interested in playing a fuller version of this! Nice job
Very well done! Extremely polished for any game, let alone an LD. Loved the graphics, cinematics, audio (what does the music remind me of???), and especially the puzzles. Great job!
Outstanding atmosphere. I really liked the cross section details. The game was too hard for me to finish (didn't know you could walk with the red lines on you!), but looks like I made it to the last level. Really solid entry. Good job! Wish there was more to play!
I enjoyed determining the best lines of play and seeing my plans actually work out :O The character variety was amazing as well. Is there an ending? I also got so many cards it went off screen. Pretty cool entry!
Pikmin mechanics? In my Ludum Dare? Fantastic gameplay, graphics, and sound. I didn't get very far, but the game seemed very fleshed out. Levels, shops, fun to play, this thing has it all! And a Compo game?? Fantastic work
Made it to the end! It was cool how everything interacted with each other. Animations were really nice. I laughed when she pulled a gun on me. The graphics are so good, it's sad the background is so dull! I thought being able to stab multiple times was very cathartic, even if unintended. Nice entry
Who loans out cookies? :P Lovely game. I appreciated the level variety, both in gameplay and visuals. Really neat level designs. I just wish there was less platform jumping, and more utilizing your goo slip and speed! Great work
Don't get to play many rpgs in ludum dare, so thanks for that! I won the game, but I didn't really know how. Just collected some spirit dudes and that was that. And I didn't understand what sacrificing vs adding did. Sprites were really well done. Nice job!
Wow, thank you for that experience! It was like a full Zelda game crammed into one level. Reminded me of Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, as well. Ambitious, but you pulled it off. The ending was perfect. Walking back through the world...man. You really showed us how games can be meaningful.
Just work on the shooting mechanics, and you'll be golden :P Great job!
Very cool game! Way to take the theme and run with it. At first it was sort of off-putting - there wasn't much freedom to do what you wanted to do - but the gameplay fed into the theme and the puzzles and everything worked in the end. I really liked how losing body parts effected the controls and sight and audio. Great job!
Very cool game. The audio was on point. NPC interactions made the villagers come alive. I tried a few times, but the villagers loved their Betsy too much :( Never managed to beat the game. Good job overall, though!
Got 33 points! Don't know if that's good or bad! Really fun idea - assigning points to people turns it into a nice timed puzzle game.
Also, just so we're clear: black men are the worst, and white women are the best? You might want to rethink that lol or was that on purpose
Man, I really shouldn't have given up my shield! Zooming in the camera was both fitting and punishing. Really nice implementation of the theme. Good job!
I don't know why this game is so good, but it is! Throwing people down pits of fire just feels so good, ya know? I really liked the sprites and animations. Finding a position to knock people into the pit was fun. Fighting mechanics were lacking, but the rest of the game made up for it. Good job!
Graphics were amazing! I thought it was ironic that I became a better fighter at the end of the game from sheer experience, despite losing the armor. The take on the theme was well done. If you fleshed out the combat / platforming, I could see this as a legit game. Good job!
The graphics blew me away! Really cool design choices. I don't want to know what inspired you to make such a thing though :P Nice job!
I did it! But I don't know why it worked (talking about getting the spoon)! And the ending didn't quite make sense to me. Absolutely loved the graphics and animations. I really wish there was more to it, or things to do with everything. Nice work!
What is this, flappy birds? :P The controls felt really nice. Graphics were pretty cool, too. I wish I could see more of the level at once - navigating was pretty hard. Nice work!
Really cool! Great idea to use checkpoints - I died a ton! I got pretty far (I think) before the controls stopped working (I couldn't do anything after death). Good graphics and audio. And very fun to play!
Really enjoyed the graphics, and audio, and applying real-world/natural apothecary facets. If only I was smart enough to beat the game :P Good job!
Man, that was some Doki Doki stuff. I couldn't directly look at the screen for fear of...something. My only complaint is that the green text was forced - that kid needed to get fired. The company can't assume the liability of child workers. Plus, he has two other jobs, so he'll land on his feet. Really good job!
Moving. Great message. Fun games. Funny jokes. Great LD entry, and thank you very much for the experience.
This is what LD is all about! I was confused (in a good way) from start to finish. Just when I thought I got a grasp on what you were trying to achieve, I lost it. Fun (or at least funny) from start to finish.
...there was a sprint button? :P Thanks for sharing!
Congrats on making a unique puzzle game! The game really engaged my brain in a way that only good puzzles can. While I enjoyed the visuals and what you were going for thematically, with more polish/animations I could see this becoming a legit game. Thanks for sharing on the stream!
Excellent use of Unity (in game credits, falling out of doors, 2D characters in a 3D world). Loved everything about the characters: their art (who draws a frog like that?? :D), the dialogue, the voice clip at the beginning. Really fun to play. Thanks for making it!
The hammer enemy design is ridiculously perfect. I can't imagine a better villain for a piggy bank.
With a better camera system, and a way to use the coins, I could see this as a legit game I'd play. Great job!
Very well done! The only bad thing was the theme part, which wasn't your fault. There was no point in keeping cards in your hand, pretty much ever. Props for making a working LD card game, with keywords and everything! I played about 5 games and kept seeing new cards, which was impressive. Nice work!
Absolutely adored the graphics/animations. Props to you for including so many alternate endings! I think my favorite parts were getting to see the cinematics at the end, in anticipation of how I did in game but also to see more of that amazing art.
Like I mentioned on stream, just giving the requestees hints at what's going on (morale, chaos) through visual cues and in text would be enough to clue in the player. I'd also like to see a way to replay unlocked endings.
Great job!
Thanks for the comments, everyone!
@matthew-mcclure We needed to save some words for the title.
Really cool graphics! Audio was nice. Moving around was interesting and unique.
I thought the small cubes were parts at first! When I got my second upgrade in the southern part of the map (the two containers on the side), my up/down movement became extremely slow. Not sure if I was doing something wrong though.
Nice work!
The eye and (especially) mouth animations blew me away. The visuals were so good. It's cool playing LD games with full voice-acting. I liked the effort you put in the documentary. The gameplay at the end was...interesting, after listening to all the preceding ramblings. Dialogue went on a bit long at times, but I guess that's just documentaries for ya :P Thanks for the experience!
Finally beat it! Fantastic puzzle game. It really racked my brain. Some puzzles I tried brute forcing, which never worked. I had to think out the solution each time. The sound effects were spot on. And I appreciated the restart key being so fast and painless. You can punch this up with some better graphics and light-weight animations. Definitely worth exploring into building a full game. Great job!
Very cool. Great use of simple animations giving a very specific vibe. Loved the fingers.
Are the Disease numbers right? Felt like the game really slowed down when it was active, and noticed War was almost always better to wait for.
Nice job, and thanks for the experience! It was fun playing the four horsemen.
I really enjoyed the effort made to make a point about social commentary! LD doesn't have enough of those. The "make it rain" animation was an awesome touch. Gameplay was lacking, but if you replace the graphics it would make for a sweet LD entry.
Very cool! Got 22 points! Had a blast playing. My only complaints were more time to do things (build time between waves, a chance to see when orbs were depleted). Audio could use some tweaking, especially the too-short movement. Overall, good job!
Mechanics / graphics were great! If there was some sort of set level design (different enemies, boss, obstacles), I can see this being a legit game. Good job!
The randomly generated characters were great! Awesome art. The end cut-screens were well done as well. I loved the concept. The game was simple enough, but fun to play. Good job!
Had more fun with this than I'd like to admit. The jumping was really fun. Getting to the 50 cent piece felt real good. I liked reading all the placards. RIP arcade
Good job!
One of the best fighting/puzzle/platformer I've played this LD so far! :P Loved the mash-up of the genres. The coin battling felt very unique. I'd be interested in seeing where it could go mechanically, even without the platformer quest part. Just having the announcer voice probably earned you a couple of extra stars right there. Great job, and thanks for sharing!
Fun game, good controls, but my favorite part was the bag. The design, how it deflated and got sad over time, and especially how it lost coins only when it was upside down! Some of the spring placements were so diabolical, but at least they were in a fun way. Thanks for sharing (twice lol)!
Nice implementation of the theme. I really felt like *my* life *is* currency, ya know? :P Congrats on including the achievements. If only the player knew what they were for! Controls felt really good. Almost felt like I was playing Super Meat Boy. The amount of levels was impressive. Oh, and it's a compo game!! Overall, great job!
Man, if my team told me to make a MOBA LD game, i'd tell them to take a hike. If they told me to make a city-building game, I'd laugh in their faces. The fact that you pulled off a MOBA-city-building HYBRID game in 72 hours is AMAZING. Great job.
My favorite part was watching the little dudes fly. Oh, and being a huge dude stomping around. Thanks for the experience!
The mouse isn't contained to the screen (I have multiple monitors), so I couldn't really play it in all its glory. The movement and arena setting seemed like it would be a really fun idea though.
It took too long to kill anything, and I never saw a health pack. I suggest getting tips from The Art of Screenshake https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJdEqssNZ-U
Nostalgic! I liked that it played like an early NES game, and had about the same difficulty as one. Level design was really good. The toughness of the enemies scaled well. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to beat the game. I'm just not the same straight-shooter I was.
The attention to detail was top-notch as well. The writing was fantastic. The fonts and colors worked with the setting. There was a name for each screen, which was great. Enemies had multiple attacks. Timing of attacks was fun to learn. Random points that did nothing, like the good ol' days. Starry night sky. Just overall great job.
Only thing that got annoying was the jump sound, but I can see how it made it more of an NES experience. Thanks for the fun!
Loved the graphic style! Reminded me of Torchlight and Windwaker. How come I can't vote for Humor? The item choices/descriptions were hilarious. Good ol' sworb. I liked that there were different and unique attacks as well. And parrying felt great. My one complaint/fix would be to have the player advance instead of waiting for the enemies. I think it would really improve the experience. Nice work!
What an amazing ambience! (art + audio + visual effects) I was thrilled that I had to figure out the game myself. Putting a star back into place for the first time was a great feeling. Good job on not punishing the player for mistakes. I liked the breaks between action and cutscenes. While the wording was awkward, I appreciate the effort.
If I could give the graphics more than 5 stars, I would. Everything else was amazing as well. I want to play the full version of this game! Thanks for sharing on the stream!
Simply enchanting. Would definitely play the full version of this!
My only complaint is that I didn't understand which abilities went with which choice. Graphics were amazing though.
Very cool. The drawings were fantastic, especially the background animations. Game mechanics were intuitive and explained really well.
Props for having a unique setting!
Neat idea! I liked when I had to figure out which lane had the least amount of work for me to get through. Good job on getting the animations to make it seem like we're traveling through the forest.
I think I know what the previous commenter is talking about. After you shoot a bunch and stop, it takes awhile to start shooting again. Almost a second.
Really sweet gameplay and graphics! You really nailed the physics of the grappling hook.
I started off playing the original, then went to "easy" when I couldn't beat it. Giving the player more arrows was not how I envisioned "easy" mode lol. I think the trouble was not seeing what was below you and landing on spikes, or getting sniped by a snake, or some random spider jumps on you from above.
Overall, nice work!
Loved the way you could choose and unchoose power ups. The marker indicating the next area of enemies was very useful as well. Cool concepts you came up with. Nice work!
Outstanding job on making your units unique and interesting. They each felt and played like they served disparate roles. With a level setup, I could see this becoming a really fun game in the vein of the original Plants vs Zombies. The graphics were pretty cool, but the death animations were friggin awesome. I wanna see more units just to see how they die lol Good job!
The base mechanic was super solid! As always, I really appreciate the ability to move around levels at-will. The levels felt like they could have been a bit smaller, maybe 10x smaller :P Devil sprite is super cute, and that wall background is sweet. Good work, and thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! We've made some minor tweaks in the post-jam version that really improve gameplay (e.g. makes the combat actually playable), but don't rate if you haven't played the original. Or don't. I'm not your mom.
@ryuu Glad at least one person figured out the boss level! <3
I had no idea what I was doing, and I loved it! Really captured the anxiety of going into something you're not prepared for. I couldn't figure out how to trigger the actual interview, though :( Music was amazing, too. Good job!
Cool, reminded me of Stanley Parable! The experience overall was pretty unique. I think I would have liked it a lot more if the graphics were changed up a bit, maybe like a spoof of the originals. Good work!
Excellent entry! Building the level, then moving, then building (instead of only building near the player avatar) made the puzzle aspect of the game really shine. Movement needs some work, but everything else was great. Thanks for sharing!
Ooh baby...command prompt puzzles! The idea is fantastic! Loved the mechanics, wished it was longer. The mechanics probably could've been presented in a more digestible manner, but I eventually figured everything out. Some keyboard click sounds probably would've gone a long way in increasing mood. Thanks for sharing!
First of all, get those UI images outta the LD page! The game is so much cooler than that! The game was the best kind of weird (except for that glaringly misplaced switch outlet at the start i mean what were you even thinking :P ) The text platform could've used some iteration, but I'm glad you left the secret wall-wire passage ;) Thanks for sharing!
I won! RTS game in my Ludum Dare? Yes please! Music was sweet. Got a kick out of that censor bar. Pixel art was pretty good, though the grass could've been broken up some. Notifications as a tutorial was pretty nifty. Appreciated that boat animation rather than spawning dudes instantly.
UI was a bit frustrating, more so since clicking on stuff is what an RTS is all about. Perhaps more of the UI could be seen at a glance (hunger/sleep icons over the villagers, x/10 bar on the buildings, x/100 in the resource panel). For Ludum Dare, the game was probably twice as long as it needed to be.
Overall, great job, and thanks for sharing!
There's a nugget of an amazing game somewhere here. Very cool idea! I wish the game enforced listening to the sounds more. I wanted to just sit back and hear the audio. Would definitely like to this expanded. Good work!
Amazing GUI! I loved the concept of mindlessly riding the wave of popular opinion to try to capture some fame. I wish there was an easier way to bank topics. Seems like a ran out pretty quickly. I think if the gameplay worked like it's supposed to, it would be a really fun game. Nice work!
Comment goes here.
Laughed a lot more than I thought I would! I fully bought into the relationship between narrator and player. Thanks for sharing!
Nice kobold! I love music that builds up over time.
Love the ambition! I liked feeling like the overlord of the universe. Couldn't figure out what increasing popuation did. At least destroying planets was straightforward (as it always is). Maybe UI could be improved to give the player a sense of what's going on? Cool game! Thanks for sharing
Enemies were really neat! Breaking down the doors with the sword felt satisfying. Surprisingly fun for what it was. Nice work!
Solid idea! Nice take on the classic hangman by introducing hints. The pixel (voxel?) destruction animation felt good. Cool ending colors!
Heck yeah! This game rocks! What little you have gets me excited about where it could go. You might get an over-representation of adulation here since we're all in it for the love of programming/gamedev, but...I want more!
This is why I love ludum dare! Thank you so much for the experience. The grass and flower growth looked amazing. Great pixel art on the flowers. My only criticism is the grass looks bland, and the tiles were too apparent on the grass, but these are minor nitpicks. Wish I could play this forever. Thanks for sharing!
You really made the player work! Mechanics felt tight. Level design had some hiccups. Really wish we could just have fun and Tony-Hawk around the level tho! Rectangles don't have a head!
Thanks everyone for the reviews and comments!
@asimov-io I think I fixed the Mac/Linux builds. Try out the post-jam version and see.
Thanks for sharing! I think the mechanics could really work as a puzzle game, or a smaller-mapped pvp experience. Graphics were simple and effective. Nice work!
Neat! I liked the variety of water/swatter/apple-picker. I wish there were more plants to take care of in later levels. Tool selection was a little buggy sometimes. Nice job!
Great job! Thanks for sharing it with the stream. The game itself is superbly made. The only thing I can criticize is the overuse of the color yellow. All other critiques I have are just things that could be added on top of what's there to enhance the gameplay. Great graphics, well executed game loop, lots of humor, and a fun take on the theme. This game has it all!
Cinema scenes were great! Loved the robot emotions. A simple music track would go a long way to improving the atmosphere. The part where you lose your arm was a little random, but everything else made sense for the most part. Oh wait...you lose the arm, which allows you to replace it with the cannon! I get it :P Nice work!
Great party games! Graphics were very cute. The games were simple enough that everyone can participate, but had some difficulty as the game went on. Thanks for sharing!
Great atmosphere! Mechanics need some explaining either here or in-game. I figured out how to plant seeds, but couldn't get the flowers to grow. The dev materials imply the plant spreads? A download version would be nice to improve performance. Would love to play more!
Simple and sweet! The game flows well, and the story and text are hilarious. Some sort of end-game counter or countdown would have helped me understand what I needed to do. Keeping Merlin alive while also trying to clean the house is a great way to add to the theme (rather than just trying to keep something alive). Well done!
Sweet game! Great visuals, soothing audio, and lovely music. Thanks for the experience!
Thanks for sharing! Had a lot of fun with this one. The typing wasn't responsive enough for me, I had to slow down a lot.Reading the text and absorbing it after I typed it really made me think. Do these people have feelings, thoughts? Are they really that bad? Wish the dialog revealed more about their backstory! Good job!
Super disappointed that I wasn't Cornelius, but everything was great after that! Great story, humorous dialog, well-executed gameplay and progression.
Are Cornelius and the girls demons? Are they in a cult? Maybe it's just me. Only got one ending. I should investigate more...
And who's the lady behind Cornelius???
I like pretzels.
Wonderful! Better than most jam games, so very impressive. The humor was great, the puzzles were tight and well-designed. My only complaint is not enough levels. Thanks for sharing!
Yes! Wonderful! I love these kinds of worlds and graphics! The 3D aspect was used to its full potential. The theme istelf is lacking, but you've built a level that I would like to play more in. Thanks for sharing!
In the data folder I see level0, level1, and level2. How do you get to the next levels?
Thanks for the experience! Great mood. Things were confusing at first, but it all made sense in the end. Wish the ending was with the other person...or did I get the bad ending? :P The way the character climbs over the cliff corners was awesome. Great job!
I really enjoyed playing this game! The gameplay was simple but engaging. I loved everything about the story - the details, the lore behind the game, the fact it even exists. Keep it up, and keep learning!
Fantastic entry! It's like a WarioWare game, but with enough going on to make it more engaging. Even the graphics are apropos for the era. All the elements (dark screen, sibling's hand, distractions) took me back to my own childhood and playing GameBoy in the car at night. You captured those feelings well. Great job!
Fantastic entry! The puzzles were the perfect amount of challenge. It seems like a game I've played before, except for the great twist that you have to prepare the level beforehand. Sweet graphics, great dialog. Thanks for making it!
Hilarious! Loved seeing all the easter eggs. The airport felt like a real thing (crowds, workers, airplanes, shops). Really nice attention to details. The game works because the mechanic of finding outlets makes you want to explore, and explore is fun on its own because of all the cool stuff to see. Gun guy definitely wants pizza though. Thanks for sharing!
Controls are solid! It's tough to add so many mechanics into a game, but you managed to do it all and have every one of them work well. Graphics and sounds were just complex enough to get the point across. I appreciated how forgiving the game is, especially in the later levels when I kept dying. Great job!
Thanks for commenting, everyone! I've updated the page with a somewhat spoiler-free answer key.

Keep the suggestions coming! We are planning a Post-Ludum build after ratings are over.
@marcmagus I've updated the Linux download to include all the files. Care to test it out for me? (And I had to include some post-ludum updates. Shhh...don't tell anyone)
Half the fun of early Windows was cascading those windows around solitaire style, and you captured that nostalgia very well. Though I have to dock you a little for previewing Clippy in the title screen and not including it in the actual game. For shame!
Very cool! You managed to capture that Wario-Ware feel pretty well. Some of the minigames felt fun enough to be even longer (particularly the Star Wars one). Good job!
You're sick, man. Keep it up! Managed to return one baby! Maybe if, and I can't believe I would be suggesting this today, maybe it would be better if the player eats the baby? I felt like just getting to the baby was rewarding enough i.e. didn't see the need to return it to old man babyeater. Controls felt solid and fair. Might want to tone down the difficulty, especially for Ludum Dare games. People want to beat it and see that ending! Thanks for sharing!
Sweet game! The gameplay leaned into the theme nicely. It was satisfying that I could look at the board state, solve the puzzle (to the best of my ability - still got hit sometimes!), and following through. One thing I thought of was that the shape of the enemies could dictate their paths e.g. the blue enemy could be vertical- or horizontal-looking, the zombie could be more cross-shaped. At first I thought the zombie would chase you (given the fork and knife in hand). Amazing graphics, and the audio overall was great. Solid entry!
Actually a really neat idea! It got me thinking about games I could make with that mechanic. Thanks for sharing!
Outstanding visuals! The core gameplay was a lot of fun. Maybe just have the ship autofire instead of pressing the mouse button (won't somebody think of the fingers?). Less enemy health, more enemies exploding! The loop mechanic was confusing in that I didn't know how to use it best. Maybe it's just a nice bonus for dying? Great work, and thanks for sharing!
Funny game! But now I can't even look at my three-monitor setup anymore. I clearly need to upgrade to eight for the full gamedev experience.
Thanks for sharing! Loved the core concept, and the level alterations after a lot of deaths. I don't think the twelve death limit was necessary, and the final stretch took a bit long. That said, I managed to beat it three times. Just watching the animations and world was a treat. Nice work!
Really cool! I don't think I've played a rhythm/platformer game quite like this. Graphics are superb, and audio perfectly matches it. Controls were a bit wonky for me, and I couldn't grasp the beat loops in a lot of levels. But when the controls worked and the loop was short and solid, it was a great experience. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! The visual language was spot on - I knew what to do and where to go right off the bat every time. Just took me awhile to figure out how to do it! The beginning levels were great at introducing the mechanics. Couldn't figure out the one with three robots and one box, but had a blast playing. Nice work!
Nailed the theme! And I loved the art and personality of the characters, GUI, and board. Couldn't quite grasp the point of the monster, though. I enjoyed how I could strategize my turns and turn the board into a finely-tuned gem machine. Well done!
Graphics are sweet, especially the lighting on the guns when you shoot. Dash and double jump felt great. The balance of the guns could be tweaked, but for a jam they're all really impressive! Sometimes the dash felt unfair - maybe when not moving left/right, the player will dash towards the mouse? Audio added a lot to the mood. Very fun to play overall.
Thanks for sharing, and I really appreciate you going out of the way to add a downloadable version for us internet-speed impaired individuals!
Very innovative! For how simple it appears to be, you made me actually think about how to solve each puzzle. Hopefully you explore the design more, because I haven't played a game quite like it. Audio aside, it's a great entry!
None of the links work - gotta take out those umlauts! Nice work. I liked the asteroid variations.
Super polished game! The difficulty ramped up quickly, and my tiny brain couldn't keep up! Maybe include more easier levels for us simple-minded folk? I'd give this 5 stars for a Jam entry, and you did it all as a Compo. Well friggin done!
Fantastic! Two for two :D Love the atmosphere and just the way the game makes me feel. Excellent animations and humor, and great implementation of the theme. Some words are way harder to get than others, which is fine, but I want that high score, dang it! And blowing people up never gets old. Great work!
Cool game! I enjoyed previewing the track before entering the black hole to get a sense of when to turn and how to do it fast. It's hard to make one game during a jam, and you managed to fit in two! As I mentioned on stream, the grid could have been smaller, or the tracks could appear all at the same time. Shooting felt weak - I preferred racing and maneuvering around the asteroids. As for the controls, I think people would prefer that when you let go of moving, the ship moves in a straight line. I didn't mind it as it is though. Nice work, and thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing! Loved the player character model and animations. The core mechanic of jumping to an asteroid felt really fun. Every time I clicked, I couldn't believe it worked! The possibilities of a full game are really exciting. Keep up the good work!
Solved it (with a bit of brute-force)! Never found clue #2, but I narrowed it down to four numbers. The clues were fun, and the non-euclidean level was great. And the useless doors and red button were funny. Thanks for making it!
Really cool entry! Graphics were unique and the mood was fantastic. I don't like horror at all (nightmares and such), but it wasn't overdone here.
SPOILERS: Using the horror elements as clues to where the numbers were was clever. Turns out they really were our friends all along :) The one clue I didn't get was the last one. I figured, four digits, four walls, each wall would have a clue. I thought that since the text flashed every five seconds, and you could see the time in the first wall, the fourth digit was five. Lucky guess!
Thanks for the experience!
Not that bad! I had fun just thinking about how to beat the level from the start, where to die, how to get places, and so on. Reminded me of Little Nemo for the NES.
Deceptively clever! I thought I was done for when reading the tutorials, but the mechanics were solid enough that I got them just by playing. I couldn't get past the third level; I kept getting soft-locked when bringing in the green guy to the three red-button room :( The platform jumping was a little unforgiving, and I couldn't quite tell what some of the buttons did. Wish I could play more! Nice work!
Gorgeous graphics - loved the art and lighting. For bullet-hell games in particular, the more enemies with less health, the better! The only frustrating part was not seeing asteroids for whatever reason until it was too late. Probably to distracted by that background! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing! It's mind-blowing what people can do in 48-72 hours! This game has it all: graphics, audio, humor, innovative. Sometimes the player speed felt a little slow, and that last level was surprisingly long. Overall, great work!
Fun little game! The fact that the cane/hook extends your reach humored me. Graphics were really cute, and the music was hilarious!
Awesome boss fights and unique but simple combat mechanics! Music and graphics were great. Not sure how the sun and moon relate to anything, and the level pathing could use some work. But I beat it in 13:52!
Very cool mechanics! There was a lot of clicking needed; I would have appreciated more breaks in the intense gameplay to let my finger recuperate :) The little details (aka juice) added a lot to the experience.
Awesome idea! Bugs and lack of payoff aside, the underlying concept is solid. The gameplay was a great way to get me invested into the story - choosing a path, drawing whatever I wanted, and the first-person narration. Loved the mood, too. I would definitely be interested in playing a finished version!
It took me a long time to figure out how win (surplus people is key), but I eventually drained the ocean! Color use and graphics were fantastic. The game desperately needed in-game UI to see the costs and benefits of each building, and the camera speed could have been a little faster.
Great world-building, and awesome music! It was sometimes difficult to drop the papers off the table. The difficulty of the second level made me not look forward to the rest of the game, but I was relieved when I saw the next part! :cat:
Holy Lag, Ant-Man! It took me awhile to notice what minerals were. Loved the throne art! I couldn't defeat the last queen before accidentally running out of minerals :( You don't see a working RTS made in 48 hours everyday. Great job!
The title and the word "pickles" made me expect a more light-hearted game! The movement was a bit floaty, especially when pushing up/down when not on a ladder. Sprites and music were amazing!
Fantastic music and art! The colors were especially on point.
Everything about the bucket mechanics I loved, but to me the movement and randomness made this the opposite of fun to play. Too many frustrating situations where I was sure I would die no matter what I did. I beat it in 30 min 59s, dying 103 times :/
Was shooting or coins useful for anything?
Music rocks, and the sprites are great! Background art should slowly scroll up and get darker, to give the illusion that we're descending as time goes on. Getting hit by the fastest moving objects (especially the net!) was really frustrating. Doubling down on the theme was a nice touch!
Very cool mechanics! At first I couldn't tell what was wall and floor, and I wish the more expensive contracts were calculated first. Music was actually pretty good. Overall, nice job!
Loved the color scheme, animations, and enemy variety. The only thing I was hoping to see was a bigger boss enemy (unless I never made it that far). Great work!
Loved the atmosphere and bike mechanics! The music was superb. The whole thing reminded me of A Short Hike and Untitled Goose Game. If there was controller support, I'd play a full game (not randomly generated) of just biking around to different areas. Great job!
The hip gyrations made me forget all my problems (and the medicine delivery). And snow games are always appreciated. Thanks for the experience!
Loved the pixel art, especially how it glowed! Redirecting two package lines with one black hole in Level 3 felt sooooo good. Level 4 and 7 took awhile, and I couldn't figure out level 8. I appreciated the simplicity of the UI. Overall, great job!
Cool visuals! Once I understood the controls, I managed to get to the end. The concept is certainly something worth exploring. Keep it up!
Excellent tutorial! Loved the different challenges. Didn't make it to the end - monsters were too tough. It would've been nice to have some health pickups / faster shot speeds. Overall, great job!
The beginning section was enough of a tutorial. It just needed the double-jump ability to be more explicit (such as in-game text). I liked the pizza=health mechanic. Good job!
Excellent graphics, especially the crow attacks! The crown mechanic was uniquely entertaining. Took me a couple of tries to beat. I appreciated that when I got tired of running alongside the peach, I could hitch a ride on top. Great job!
The juice is strong with you, friend! Once I figured out I could charge and grab at the same time, it became a lot of fun to play. My one note would be to lower the enemy HP. More damage = more fun. The basics are there, and I can see this become a full game. Nice job!
Loved the dialogue! The ending made me legitimately sad. I too couldn't figure out how to grab the peppers, or get a hat, and would definitely play again if there's an alternate ending. Great job!
I think I got 900! Felt good to throw once I got a system going. The gameplay music got repetitive fast, but I liked then results screen music. Glad to see you had fun gamedeving, and thanks for sharing!
Took a long time, but I eventually beat it with 30 seconds to spare! I think there should be an indicator of where the next door is, or at least a map you can pull up. It was frustrating to find the red light, especially in full sunlight. Loved the city graphics. Nice job!
Loved how you converted a comedian's job into cards, especially the clean/blue/dark damage types. You definitely something here!
I really want to play a full version of this! Great job on making the game feel fun. I wanted all the cards all the time to do cool things. Great job on the magic graphics. A quick improvement would be to self-cancel invisibility if you attack something. Then add some destructible environments, and baby, you got a game going!
Well, that's one way to make a dating sim. I loved it! The ending was perfect, if not sad. The theme was a bit lacking though, as I didn't get a lot of Dating Sim vibe other than the story. Now if I could go on and marry the building if I wanted...
Nice job!
@DraughtVader Mac build has been added! Oversight on my part. Thanks for catching that!
I beat it, and I don't know how! Hurray for easy mode! The feel of the game was really nice. Audio was on point. I couldn't handle all that lava - why do you hate us players?? Nice job
What a ride. Not only was this game hilarious, but it was fun to play as well. I enjoyed getting into the rhythm of attacking and dodging, and once I felt I had mastered it, the game was over! Amazing visuals as well.
My only complaints were my range attacks never hit, and there wasn't much difference in the enemies' fighting styles. Small nitpicks.
Keep up the crazy!
Why the must cards have such long names :'(
I was all smiles the whole way through. Great job!
P.S. Please nerf Pot of Greed
Why did the nice people have to die?!?
Really cool idea that could be made into an actual game. I liked how it got harder and harder. Didn't understand why the cards were dealt face-down if we could just look at all the cards anyway. I think time constraints to memorize the target and to find the target and shoot could help the game?
Nice job
Absolutely loved the graphics! Reminded me of Out of This World. Great job!
Amazing job on the theme! You know what doesn't make sense in Tetris? The ball from Breakout! Really liked the graphics, and the audio was very soothing. I enjoyed trying to get the ball to go crazy. Nice work!
Very ambitious project for a Ludum Dare game! Game played well enough. I wish all the buildings were fully functional. Didn't really have much to do other than spamming dudes. These games are always hard to balance. For future LDs, I'd recommend simplifying (one resource, one tower type, one attacker, etc) just to make sure everything works. Appreciate the effort though! And I won!
Holy moly I loved this one. The character sprite design was AMAZING. As was getting those sweet, sweet solos. I wish using all four characters in a round did something different. Needs an ending! Nice job
Audio, visual, and gameplay all matched perfectly! Incompatible no more!
Why is "Story" in quotation marks?! :P Great voice acting. I enjoyed the variety of enemies. Music set a nice mood. But then a bomb blew up on me then I couldn't do anything. I was about 4 turns from finishing (I think)! The worst part was waiting 30 seconds for me to take my 3 seconds of movement. Fix the wait and you might have something.
Oh man how I loved this game. Not sure how much of that is because of the music though :smirk:
I loved the parts where when the music repeated, the level repeated. Gave me a sense that I was getting good at the game, where at first I would fail, the second time I flew right through! The sun as volume control was outstanding. Really cool visuals, and great job on tying platform obstacles to the beat. Oh, and I liked the parts where the ball flew really far when the music was at a lull.
Favorite LD41 game so far!
It's DOOM, the board game! Great story. Love the idea. I felt real progression in finding items and becoming more powerful as the game went on. Adding some music for ambience and different sound effects for the cards would go a long way!
If you decide to continue developing this game, I could see it turning into something really fun. It would be cool if you could decide where to go, or have a decision of what card to take in each room to add to your deck.
Congrats on finishing!
Darn those tables!! I really dug the drawings and the sound effects; they just made me feel good. Jumping and shooting felt floaty. Solid entry!
Loved the puzzles and the aesthetics! Reminded me of Talos Principle, but not exactly, which is a good thing. Nice work!
I didn't know much about growing MJ before, but now I feel like I can start my own grow op!
I liked that you took the classic Pac-man and gave a reason to revisit areas. Plus you kept it thematic by having you walk next to the plants instead of on top of them. Nice!
What a brilliant concept! It would be nice if there were more sounds to know where you were (carpet vs wood floor, fridge sounds, etc). But man, a blind pac-man. Who thinks of these kinds of things? :D
Yes! I adore the artwork! The graphics plus the story made it feel like a real world. Music and sfx were fantastic as well. I think the text-based input didn't need the shortcuts (but then you'd have to redesign all the levels to be easier). Can't wait to go back and finish the game and enter Heaven for real. Nice job!
Great beat! I really enjoyed the pixel art animations and lighting effects and pseudo-3D platforms. Didn't understand if I was supposed to play along with the beat, or what. Very funny game!
If you want people to play this game, you have to rate other games! I think most people would like to play this.
Great use of the theme! Loved the ambience. Was a bit too easy, as the enemy never did much damage and when they ran into the ball they would die. The ending text could've used a vuvuzela ;) Nice job on the random dungeons
Really cool concept! When I realized I had to jump back on the text to get the apple, my mind was blown. Reading about the world and its characters was fun.
I definitely would play more, but I had some issues: the text was hard to read (maybe add shadows?), and I filled the bucket with water for the soldier but it kept saying I had no water :(
Nice job!
Wish this was a full game! I think the enemies should drop specific items, because it was really disappointing when the dragon dropped a worse bow than I had equipped! Couldn't tell if I was hitting with the axe either. I liked the look of the environment though
Loved the mood. I really felt alone out there. The text, the darkness, the sounds, it all added up to a real world. Nice job!
