I'm having trouble starting the game - my mouse cursor disappears when I start the game so I can't click on the menus. I'm on a Mac in Chrome.

shaner421 2019-04-30 03:06

Hey i had an issue where i couldnt press the buttons to begin the game. Just thought you should know so you can check it out! :)

kritz 2019-04-30 03:16

Mouse was moving very fast, but I managed to get it working! Nice game overall!

shulololo 2019-04-30 03:37

@dan-colman @shaner421 @kritz

Thanks for playing! I'll try to resolve these issues later on tonight but a hot fix for now is that if the mouse dissappears, press R to restart the game so the mouse is in the center again. I'll make an update tonight when I fix these problems.

shulololo 2019-04-30 05:22

@dan-colman @shaner421 @kritz

A quick update. I made some fixes where it should work with just the regular mouse cursor now, not the in-game mouse cursor. Hopefully no more bugs galore after this lol.

gamesalive 2019-04-30 08:24

Fun, unique game. Just the screen seemed off center on my laptop. Interesting concept!

wolderado 2019-04-30 08:57

It's unique and fun I tell you that. Though I didn't feel like my choices matter that much

sam-machell 2019-04-30 09:15

Nicely done. Eat your landlords! I like the switch between easy and hard mode, it's humorous but also like pretty poignant.

shulololo 2019-04-30 17:37

@gamesalive Thanks! I'll take a look at that issue tonight. Were you playing the game on the browser?

@wolderado Thanks for playing! I see what you mean. At first I wanted to make it so that the player had to be careful about what to pay for and what not to pay for. Unfortunately I didn't give myself time to work on that idea for this LDJam but if I make a similar game to this in the future I'll make sure to make the choices matter next time.

@sam-machell Thanks for playing! If there's one thing I wish I could've done better in hard mode is to actually make it a bit hard haha.

gamesalive 2019-04-30 21:42

Yeah it seemed off center on the browser edition and some word were missing from long pieces of text

kajetan-andrzejak 2019-05-01 11:01

A nice little game right here! Respect for the Wu-Tang Clan reference!

tamail 2019-05-01 12:58

I like the humor of this game! The sounds were a bit annoying though :D But it's good overall!

falak 2019-05-01 14:12

The 'hidden' hard mode is good idea! I like it. Good luck!

shulololo 2019-05-01 17:34

@kajetan-andrzejak @tamail @falak

Thanks for playing the game! Appreciate the feedback!

mrpiedpiper 2019-05-01 19:12

This was pretty cool! I really like the idea, and it looks/sounds great! Though, I feel like the "Cha-ching" noise was cut a little short.

I was trying to be strategic about who I sent money to, thinking about some deep mechanics. But, as I see from your previous comment, I guess you ran out of time. If you manage to implement this kind of thing later, it'd give the game a *huge* boost. (At the moment, you can literally just give as much money as possible and there's no lose condition)

Great job on this! Enjoyed it :D

shulololo 2019-05-02 03:16

@mrpiedpiper Yeah, it's a shame that it didn't get implemented in. Not sure if I'm going to make a post-jam version of the game but if I make a similar game like this in future game jams I'll make sure that I'll put that game mechanic in. I just gotta work on time management more for game jams in general haha! Thanks for playing!

empyrean 2019-05-03 07:08

Cool concept, i really liked the twist! I did feel a bit sad that what i did mattered nothing tho :(

lagman9000 2019-05-03 08:07

Cool game an original concept! Might have been nice to include an element of randomness in, so you're not always sure how much you'll lose.

afroant 2019-05-03 13:38

Man, I really wish I could've explored more the post-prison world you suddenly find yourself in. Was it an apocalypse? Hell? Armageddon? Also interested in seeing where certain events lead, such as the Devil and Illuminati. Really cool ideas!

shulololo 2019-05-03 19:04

@empyrean Sorry about that haha! I wanted to make the choices more consequential but time was not on my side.

@lagman9000 That would be a cool idea! That'll make the game more interesting by having the player think more about their choices.

@afroant You know, I haven't really thought of it like that lol. The Devil and Illuminati stuff was there to make the game more silly but I wouldn't have thought it would accidentally create lore. But now that I had some time to think about it, it would probably be more close to hell because of the Devil's ransom. I probably should've thought about the post-prison world more haha!

Thank y'all for playing!

stevenjmiller 2019-05-04 05:57

Great concept. It's a shame that you didn't have time to make the choices more meaningful, but what is here is already very entertaining in its own right.

peachtreeoath 2019-05-07 04:58

Haha, I loved the core idea of the 2nd portion of the game. I know you didn't quite do this but it reminded me of this part in Fallout 2 where you have a choice to give someone a ton of cash early on, but near the end of the game this guy actually invests that money correctly and pays you back 10-fold. I felt like I was being punished for my decisions early on and that was pretty neat. I said this last jam and I forgot YET AGAIN but I need to steal how you animate your text in logos and such, it's such a nice effect and you're the only one that does it in LD lol.

elysiagriffin 2019-05-08 21:57

@stevenjmiller Thanks! Yeah it's a shame but there's always next time!

@peachtreeoath Thanks for playing! I actually didn't know they did that. That's pretty cool that they thought about that concept over 20 years ago. Hopefully you won't forget to use the line wobbling effect for the next jam haha!
