LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

The Expendables by frenchie 2018-12-05T08:39:06Z

I loved this XD The sounds just make the game, and the art style/quality was spot-on. Amazing job!

I love how when things fall from the sky, you can't tell if it's a friendly or not.

(I tried using one of my minions as a bomb then getting taken out, but it didn't count the sacrifice.

Worsheep by hbirler 2018-12-05T02:54:07Z

That sun was amazing XD Worth playing just for that.

The Sacrificial Trail by PhilStrahl 2018-12-05T07:21:20Z

Fun moments: * Starts playthrough - Unicorn shows up right away - Gives it all of the coffee I have (2) - Unicorn never comes back * Speedo shop sells coffee and (very expensive) gasoline

Oddness: * I gifted the unicorn 18 coffee halfway through a run, and 5 right before the end, and the end screen said I gave it 5 things. Huh. * Next good run I gave Unicorn 15 cups of coffee, then again right before the end Unicorn showed up. I had 2 coffee left, so I gave Unicorn 1, just in case it'd make a difference (Instead of giving all giving less?) and the end screen said I gave it 151 items. Hm. ~~Gotta catch em all!~~

This was great fun to play through! Got the hang of the mechanics of what caused what stat to go down pretty quick and enjoyed the gameplay. Deciding whether to buy or hope for a better price and whatnot.

Nicely done! :D

NOT SO ARIGATO MR. ROBOTO by Avocadosan 2018-12-04T09:53:09Z

This was great! I was quite confused through the playthrough, but great nonetheless! My confusion came from not being quite sure how I could use the modules. I didn't know when I should use them. The art was *really* good, and I was in a scared rush most of my playthrough. I probably shouldn't have disabled all of the modules first thing.

OpFern Class by ghost-in-the-toast 2018-12-04T06:07:11Z

Just played through a bit, (This game, is hard) and this thing is awesome. Great music, great graphics, and overall it's just a joy to play! The different classes and the ability to freely swap would probably be my favorite bit.

Unfortunately, my game froze up when I started lvl 4. Which, I'll be honest, I can't tell if that's on purpose or not.

Either way, amazing job!

OpFern Class by ghost-in-the-toast 2018-12-04T07:07:02Z

(Just to make sure there's no mis-understanding- it froze when I was *starting* lvl 4. I didn't get to play that one :c Might have to replay just to see if I can later.

Escape Pod by aevek 2018-12-04T05:03:28Z

That, was one quality game. Everything was spot on! Played through each and every level. Beautiful job.

He Has Hostages by Joseph Manley 2018-12-04T06:21:46Z

Took me a minute to wrap my head around needing to keep something in the way of the laser, but overall, this thing is pretty great quality. Music, audio, theme, mechanics, you guys did great! Love all the different bits of "Lore" for the characters!

Documentia by Pandanym 2018-12-06T06:46:50Z

This was genuinely amazing. I felt as if I was interacting with an actual world. Maybe that's Undertale and Oneshot rubbing off on me, but still. I felt it.

You've managed to create an amazing experience. I felt so bad deleting things- and our good friend Glitch certainly didn't help with constantly calling me a monster. ~~Maybe I **am** a monster~~ ;-;

Interesting thing though- while I was experimenting with deleting people, one of the NPCs (Rikka?) asked me to bring her father back. Which I did. But there was no reaction to that. Also no reaction to bringing other stuff back either.

Also, when I deleted the lumberjack's house, they said they couldn't rebuild it since the forest was gone. But, it wasn't. I mean, the bridge was gone and river still there, but the forest wasn't gone.

This was honestly one of the best games I've played all of Ludum Dare. You've hit the nail on the head with this one.

***Amazing job***

Fading Memories by schmavery 2018-12-05T08:02:34Z

Stinking family/staff not showing up because my poor old guy is getting old and forgetting things. More cake for Joe!

Loved the idea, and it was executed very well. Music loops plenty, but never felt bothersome at all. Love all of the voices too.

My only complaint might actually be intended, but anyway- I wish I could place blocks on-top of one-another so that I could better move the blocks around.

The Sunday Massacre by Ziamor 2018-12-05T06:20:04Z

Pretty good! Enjoyable. Great graphics, and great sounds. Other than missing music, this is pretty great! Love the ending too c:

Most Important Person by Kobrar 2018-12-04T04:43:20Z

This was quite a bit of fun! Great dialog, and pretty nice gameplay too!

Only thing I felt might have been missing would be the ability to roll the fat guys. Otherwise, this felt pretty complete.

I felt a teensy bit like a horrible person throwing them people, but hey. When you're the MIP, what'cha gonna do? MIP foreverrrrrrr

Startup Simulator 2019 by Benjamin San Souci 2018-12-04T06:39:58Z

This "Quack" looks familiar. Hehe. Great job on the game! Now that I'm writing this, I don't recall hearing any audio from it. Other than that, this is amazingly well polished!

Plushie Piler by shieldgenerator7 2018-12-04T07:38:57Z

Naming the plushies was an excellent touch! And the idea of the "Story" so to speak, was great!

I had MrTeddyson, MrWhiskers, (I might have forgot one  ), and Bruce.

Plushie Piler by shieldgenerator7 2018-12-04T09:30:53Z

If I had a choice, I'd probably pick the puppy plushie. Which I happened to forget the name of XD Unfortunately, throughout the last level, I didn't realize I was eliminating plushies and just played through it.

Plushie Piler by shieldgenerator7 2018-12-04T10:23:13Z

Forgot to mention this: Your character/plushie designs are adorable.

Vitality! by Avi 2018-12-04T03:47:19Z

Boy, this was pretty fun! You did great! Love the whole feel of the game, and the different weapons as you fill the bar was neat. Though, if my case, it was too easy. Once I had the fully upgraded weapon, I could 1-2 shot pretty much anything. Possible fix would be to make more powerful weapons consume more energy per shot? I dunno.

Overall though, great fun!

Dwarf Climbers by Sky 2018-12-04T10:21:23Z

This was pretty fun! I enjoyed climbing around controlling both dwarves at once. You did great for the sounds and feel of the game. Everything fit quite nicely!

Personally, I'd like there to be more hazards around. Whenever something came along, it didn't feel very threatening at all. Also, perhaps some way of knowing when danger/boulders are about to show up, so I feel more like dodging is up to me instead of where I happen to be at the time.

Overall though, this was a fun play!

@shulololo Thanks! :D I'm glad you had fun playing ^^

@alph Thank you! Spent quite a while trying to figure out what to make, so it's nice knowing the idea worked out in the end

Upping the speed seems to be coming up alot. I'll add that to the list for the next version. Thanks, guys!

@one-seed-fruit Thank you! I really appreciate it c:

@shubart No, thank *YOU* for playing my game! Upping the overall speed of the game is sure to improve things a bit. Maybe even upping the player speed itself to make things start easier.

@donitz Thank you! Really happy with how the graphics turned out. Nice score, btw :D

@morris-beardbarian Might have made it a bit too difficult starting out. I'll fix that up post-jam. Glad you enjoyed! c:

Catrifices by MrPiedPiper 2018-12-06T01:05:59Z

@koala-squad Hey! Thanks for checking out my game :D

I've seen alot of this mentioned, and will most definitely be trying a bit of a speed-up. The slow "They're coming" thing just isn't working.

Really appreciate it! :D

Yeah, I'll take that. "Sacrifices must be made" lends itself to this kind of thing.

This is pretty spot on. Graphics were a bit rushed, and my animations -while I'm rather happy with they ended up- were not as I had planned them to be. I originally was going to follow Brackeys' skeletal animation tutorial. Knees, elbows, and all. But, that didn't end up working out. So I had to improvise. In the end, I decided to go "Scribblenauts" with the animation. It worked, but could definitely be improved. Though, the style I ended up with *is* pretty nice. Not sure I'll end up changing it in the long run. Maybe more joints.

Bosca Ceoil worked pretty well for this, but something else *would* be nice. I should definitely look around and see what's available for more music. More options = more fitting for whatever I happen to be working on. I'll go take a look at that one you mentioned! Thanks! :D Sound effects, I was pretty happy with. Nothing like meowing into a microphone at 2am and making odd noises for aliens. Flicking drink glasses, rubbing sleeves together, that stuff was fun to make. (Side note: Funny enough, while I've never really tried *making* music (Until now), I actually *am* a musician XP

Well said.

In my design document I wrote "Feel: Cartoony dystopia. Fun, yet dark and disturbing." I feel like I didn't *quite* get this right. Just about right, but still. Work must be done. But, hey. At least you got the general gist of it :P Partial success!

This, is some real quality feedback. Thanks for the honest review! I feel a great need to go and fix some of this stuff. Hooray, game development!

:Edit: Changed wordings and added stuff on paragraphs about graphics, audio, and mood.

Catrifices by MrPiedPiper 2018-12-07T00:40:54Z

@player-2 Happy to hear you enjoyed playing! The portals were meant to stand out (they're from aliens, after all.), and I guess I succeeded. Unfortunately, I didn't realize they'd be confused with drop-off points. Definitely my mistake on that one  Speeding up that is something I should probably do. I've seen alot of people saying my game's pacing was a bit too slow, and that'd definitely up the speed. Thanks!

Thank you! Means quite a bit, as I spent alot of time polishing stuff. Day 3 had *so much polishing* XP

Again, love hearing my game was enjoyed! Can't wait for the next Ludum Dare ^-^

@peachtreeoath I hadn't considered boosting the throw at all. That's something I'll definitely have to look into.

Diagetic UI is something I quite like. Though, I never had a word for it 'till now :eyes: (I'll have to remember that one) Thanks for the quality comment! :D

Hellbun: Bob's Sacrifice by Mara 2018-12-04T10:08:50Z

*The turtles... They were so fast... We never stood a chance...*

Loved the game! The controls felt smooth and well balanced. The momentum felt good; made it more unique, and you managed to do things in a way that still felt natural. The music felt spot-on. I just realized I've used the word "felt" in every line here so far. I really loved the art! I don't know if it was intentional, but the fact that some of the pictures of our Hellbun pal Bob were less detailed than others was rather charming.

Overall, this is a quality entry. Great job!

Long Live The King! by Player 2 2018-12-06T10:10:27Z

> From the feedback we have got it doesn’t appear that anyone has managed to complete this tricky puzzler yet. It is definitely possible. Will you be first?

:eyes::eyes::eyes:

This was a really interesting puzzle! I really enjoyed figuring out in what order things needed to happen. Though, alot of that came from behind and over the shoulder of my little sister, as she heard me ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the coolness and quickly took over my computer. I mean, I still technically beat it... Right? Either way, here's my win screen. (I re-did it after she finished up)

Screenshot (112).png

It was honestly really fun, but I did come across an issue or two. Like every other playthrough, I'd have a guy in a box against the left side of my screen, and have it just... Walk into the left wall and die? And he didn't leave his box, either. There was a white barrier there. Those were a bit frustrating

Another small issue would be that sometimes when I clicked on a guy, it'd act like I clicked on hit a few more times. Like, swapping from skill to walk again and again till I left him alone.

Amazing game format. Loved it! :D

Cook by Koala Squad 2018-12-04T05:18:10Z

I have no idea why, but neither the 32 of 64 bit versions are working right for me. When it gets to where I am supposed to move the character, no buttons actually make the character move.

Cook by Koala Squad 2018-12-05T02:42:55Z

@koala-squad I can move now, but other than that, I don't seem to be able to progress. After the initial scene, it says "Enter the house". Then I can move around and look at stuff, but nothing actually happens. :< (Tried 32 and 64 bit)

Cook by Koala Squad 2018-12-05T05:27:57Z

Welp. That was quite the "game". XP You definitely win the award for one specific category in my books. Not sure I can really say much more than that for this comment without spoiling anything.

Truly a job well done. Nice!

Cook by Koala Squad 2018-12-05T23:31:33Z

This  I tried doing the opposite and just wandering around the playable space thinking something would happen. Especially after the behavior of the opening sequence when you don't do as instructed.

And yeah, I recognized the origin of the quote, not the version you were referencing. Still worked out great, though. Love me some references, and that one fit either way.

Dungeon of Friendship by captainweeaboo 2018-12-05T04:59:09Z

This game was pretty good! I liked the overall mood, and the art/music helped alot with that. Good gameplay, and my zombie has alot of debuffs now. Being able to pick him up along the way was *way* helpful. Well done!

Hungry God by fzillo 2018-12-05T03:05:42Z

Playing this was pretty enjoyable! I was expecting more animation than there was, and wasn't sure what the different rewards did. But overall, things worked out pretty great. I mean, pineapple. Right?

The sounds fit well, and other than needing to hit full-screen for the web version so my browser didn't think I was trying to drag and drop the game itself, things went smoothly, and were great!

Penelope by Denifia 2018-12-04T08:33:47Z

Great feel for the game. It was really well done! Had alot of fun with this one. And I must say- the sound effects were amazing.

Only issue I came across, in the last level, the audio stopped? (Probably because I paused it and left it for a while) Then when I moved around sometimes it'd fade back in/out.

Anyway, amazing job! Loved it :D

Blob buster by Ola 2018-12-05T03:54:42Z

Game ran well! Liked the movement and whatnot, and things went well. I mean, I got stuck on a level, but still. Fun!

Only thing that struck me as odd is when I shoot the weapon and keep walking, and the rope and hole it shot out of are just floating there.

King's Last Stand by Pukami 2018-12-05T03:25:24Z

Man, this was hard. I was completely demolished on wave 7 my first playthrough, but I made it round 2! :D Screenshot (109).png

I had alot of fun trying to strafe around enemies grouping them up and taking out huge groups with few Atra. Also of note, the player seems to move faster going diagonally.

Great fun, this game. And the models are adorable! Amazing job :D

For the Princess by maxll 2018-12-05T04:38:34Z

This was fun! The controls felt very fluid, and the sounds/music fit perfectly! (For humor, or for general use) Must say, those suicide animations caught me off guard. Well done!

Dare to Risk by Morris Beardbarian 2018-12-06T08:47:43Z

Pretty fun! Though, there were areas it could certainly improve, it has a really nice base concept, and I quite enjoyed playing.

Things I liked: * Enjoyable concept, and executed well. It was quite enjoyable to play! :D * Nice play-area. It worked well for what it needed to do. Not too complex, not too simple.

Things I'd change: * Things felt bothersome: Going through each and every square upgrading/moving pieces was a pain. Select square > do what you need > Move mouse down > hit back > repeat. And sometimes I'd have already done that square, thus wasting my time. To fix this, I'd consider having some indication of whether a square has used it's turn yet so the player doesn't have to go through them all. Maybe also a more efficient UI so that the user doesn't get annoyed clicking on all those buttons. Maybe instead of a whole screen, have a pop-up menu? Like, select square > Popup menu appears > Do whatever > Click off the menu to close. Maybe even a "Transfer all" button? Quick and easy controls. * I didn't realize that the areas had names until halfway through the game. Maybe a text-color that stands out from the background, or a background for the text would fix this. * Sounds/music could certainly help out, too.

Overall though, this was a nice game. Really enjoyed upgrading, transferring troops, and ***CRUSHING MY ENEMIES***. Nicely done!

Ah, right. One more thing. When I first got the game on, I tried for a minute to find a way to rotate my view. Which didn't work out :P

Dare to Risk by Morris Beardbarian 2018-12-09T23:22:26Z

I'd think about a map size selector. Like say, Minesweeper. You have the preset few sizes, and maybe a "custom" one too.

Timed turns might be needed it you're going to be adding online play. Maybe you could make sure that the time scales up with map size? (If you end up adding map sizes, that is.)

Also, I agree with @gaming-night . Having some kind of system to show what moves the opponent is making would be rather nice. At the moment it's like having the enemy in a card game make all of their moves in secret, then show you the end result. It's a bit less engaging.

Chiiip by LuCecyl 2018-12-05T08:31:48Z

I had a silly amount of fun with this one: Even spent a good while of my second run-through just running around punching XP Well done! Not much I'd personally change, really. You did great! And keeping track of which ones survived for the end was pretty amazing.

Catrifice by Dmitriy Shabanov 2018-12-04T08:52:39Z

Haha! Guess I'm not the only one who named their game "Catrifice".

The way you used the theme was a great idea! Great level, great overall feel.

The background voices were awesome XP

Though, I feel like the graphics don't quite match eachother. Hi-resolution knives and blocks, then cartoony cat.

My main gripe though, is that I had alot of trouble with controlling the cat. The momentum feels... Odd.

Overall, this is great. Nicely done!

Total Party Kill by adventureislands 2018-12-04T19:43:22Z

@ild-games-llc When I did that level, I put the archer up there, froze him, then hit him with the knight. Then, I had the knight jump on ice-cube-archer and jump to the button. Then mage could just jump to the door.

Total Party Kill by adventureislands 2018-12-04T19:47:35Z

This game, was amazingly well done. The art was beautiful, and the sounds fit perfectly. Great level design making you utilize all of the mechanics. Not to mention cool mechanics you learn via experimentation! Awesome ending XD

Beaut of a gem.

Only thing I found that might have been unintentional, (But I actually liked and might leave in). If you're running, say, to the right, and you swap characters, character 1 doesn't stop running till you let go of the button. It was actually really convenient for getting 2 characters across the map without taking to much time!

Total Party Kill by adventureislands 2018-12-05T05:01:45Z

This may be odd, but I really liked seeing the Knight's eyes in the last cutscene. Thought it was rather funny XP

The Pink Slip by shulololo 2018-12-04T09:28:21Z

That was great! I'm a little ashamed to say I wasn't expecting that ending. You caught me quite off guard XD It lacks sound, but other that that and the wonky textbox bit, this worked really well!

My only problems: Donnie and Johnson seem to have the same Employee #.

I was stuck forever restarting the game and trying every combination on the guy who's number was "12354".

Again, awesome job!

The Pink Slip by shulololo 2018-12-05T05:55:08Z

@shulololo Just realized I wasn't very clear, so here's bit of a clarification: I was stuck because my brain saw the numbers and how orderly they were and read them as 12345 every time I looked at it. There was no game breaking bug there, only my game breaking brain XP

Throwing Shade by Casey Macneil 2018-12-04T05:25:52Z

Short, and sweet. Love the graphics and music. They worked real well together! As you mentioned, a little glitchy here and there, but overall it worked out great. Nicely done!

Battling Madness by Sykoo 2018-12-06T07:11:22Z

This was genuine fun. A great arcade top-down shooter! My personal favorite bit was getting "Reverse movement" twice. Hehehe. And moving with reverse controls is actually kinda fun XP

Hail To The King by Almighty Games 2018-12-05T05:49:17Z

For some reason, when I sacrifice a piece, I can no longer move pieces. Example: Choose pawn > Step onto board > Piece falls > Game zooms back out > I pick another piece > I can't move > I change to other pieces > None of them can move

LD44 — Your life is currency

Scooter Looter by bluescrn 2019-04-30T18:55:06Z

Wow, this was surprisingly well done!

The graphics were really good, the sounds fit perfectly, and gameplay was fun. Great job!

Only thing I found, when I was on the second level, I accidentally went into the alley the police come from, and left the map XD

Mine Corp. by Hadik 2019-04-30T08:32:21Z

This was fun!

Great graphics, suiting sounds, and enjoyable gameplay.

Only thing I'd add right now, is music. It was so quiet when it first turned on, the rocket landing actually made me jump XD

BOB by Phyro 2019-04-30T06:15:36Z

This was really good! Played through a few times, and loved the different animations, art, sound, ending, ect. Amazing job on this one!

Coinus Accumulus by djfariel 2019-04-30T06:48:21Z

This is incredibly good! The music and art fit perfectly, and the controls are great too.

Though I couldn't get all of the coins (I stopped at 101), this is amazing.

Only things I'd change: * I'd love more control over the camera, so I can see my jumps better. * At a certain point, it's hard to tell where your hitbox is. I thought the treasure chests were hard to see through, then I found the gold bars. * Whenever I back up, I feel like the left/right controls are reversed. I'm used to car-style reversing.

But again, this was amazing. Incredible job.

Atria by comatomatoes 2019-05-02T17:44:39Z

This was pretty great! Loved the gameplay, and had alot of fun playing through it. Congrats on a job well done!

I only recall finding 2 things you might want to fix: * The enemy attack hitbox stays too long after the enemy attacks. I kept on dodging, then running in to counterattack just to take damage anyway. * I discovered you can chase the enemies into the wall and glitch them out, allowing you to just hold space and beat them easy.

Just as an extra, I also expected bonus dialog when I got to the final boss without spending any hearts to buy stuff. Music would be nice too :D

Anywho, amazing job. Really liked it!

Capsule Collector by uvwar 2019-05-01T19:22:51Z

This one is... Interesting.

I saw the screenshot, and **had** to try it. This was awesome XD I don't think there was a win condition, and I wish the finger was stretching instead of drawing. Otherwise, this thing is perfect XP

Bug: You can move the finger in the machine before the character puts the finger in the machine. When the game first starts.

Sword of Hearts by MSiddeek 2019-05-20T04:39:37Z

This was excellent. First run, I felt a bit on edge due to the feel from the graphics and ambient sounds. After that, I realized I should try to die less, and made a few less sacrifices. But the 3rd time... Every run I found something new and exciting. I managed to make it, and this is one of my favorite games I've played all of Ludum Dare!

I did get pushed out of the world by the crate on this level: Fall room.png

Also this: SwordHeart.png I KNEW THAT SPOT WAS SUSPICIOUS

99 Days To Earth by Shaolin Dave 2019-04-30T06:06:12Z

This was enjoyable for the time I played it! I stopped around 67 days left, so I didn't see the end, but it's got some good promise! The main critique I'd give, is some way to mix it up a bit. Maybe less time to finish, or more variety in the gameplay. Nicely done!

Ransom by CaramelCode 2019-04-30T05:18:49Z

This was great! Saw you post that you were doing a family-team this Ludum Dare on the Feed a little while ago, and kept an eye open to try the game. You guys did great!

Love the art style, and the the music fit the feel of the game perfectly.

Only noticed two things that you might want to fix: * When grabbing the bow, the "Bow held in the air from your hand" layer is behind the gate layer. So if you click on the bow while the gate is still opening, you can see it clip behind there. * I noticed sometimes the music tracts started playing when another was playing. Like, I'd get game over, and when I hit try again the game over music doesn't stop. * A few times, I had the wrong end picture appear? Not sure why though :\ * You can brute force through the knight by spam clicking

Amazing different ending scenes by the way. Probably my favorite bits of the game; great details XP

Awesome job!

Post comment edit: I was testing something for the sake of bug hunting, and there's different art for being hurt at the end!?

Knit Worth by ColeSlaughter 2019-05-03T08:11:25Z

This game is honestly probably the funnest game I've played all of Ludum Dare 44. You guys did an amazing job at making a simple, addicting, quality game is this short time. Incredible job!

Only thing that's missing is a "Oops my combo just died better hit restart" button. Unless I missed it

The Great Unicorn Migration (HTML5) by David Greene 2019-04-30T03:03:00Z

I liked the graphics on this one! Great controls too. Gameplay-wise, I only really had one issue. On the last level, it was hard to tell where I could and could not go. I was running into dead ends just to see if I could get through until I found the way.

Money Royale by DutssZ 2019-05-01T18:59:55Z

Pretty neat game! At first I had no idea what was happening, and didn't realize I could open chests. After that though, it became a bit more of a turn-based thinking game for me.

Few things I should mention: * I can barely see the player's legs. I don't know how much could be done about that, but  * When I originally ALT+TAB-ed away from the screen and back, it went to the inventory details screen. This was before I knew how to navigate back and forth, so I thought I broke it and just re-started. Maybe a small arrow at the top to show you can get back? * I missed sound.

Great job, loved the art!

@plexsoup Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed :D Is that the one level with the springs and multiple gates?

Coinroll Adventures by MrPiedPiper 2019-04-30T07:05:37Z

@plexsoup Ah, that one. I need to fix up the springs later. Right now they give you more boost if you walk into them than if you bounce on them. Sorry if they got you stuck :\

@tomasmunro Thank you! :smile:

@inferture Thank you for playing it all the way through! Glad people are enjoying the graphics ^^ I should have mentioned this in the game, but if you get stuck you could either run into an enemy, or press "R" to respawn. I'll make that more clear next time  (Or maybe I should add a level element that would allow you to re-collect that coin )

@didigameboy Well said  Thank you!

@nico-fallosch Thanks for playing! Love that you enjoyed the game :D

Yeah, re-working the music would definitely help out. And again, I should have made this next point more clear in-game. I would have loved to have more of those instructional graphics like I have for the jump height. You can pick up dropped coins by either respawning, or standing at one and pressing right-click.

Coinroll Adventures by MrPiedPiper 2019-05-03T07:30:02Z

@jesusache Snappier movement would probably make a whole world of difference. Thanks!

Yeah, the Springs were something I didn't think to fix until it was too late. I'm not entirely sure what's wrong with them, but I think you get more boost atm if you walk into them from the side? Weird stuff. I'll get on that!

Thanks for all of the kind words and feedback. really appreciate it! :D

Coinroll Adventures by MrPiedPiper 2019-05-03T18:14:30Z

@zubspace Thank you!

* I think I stopped working on Movement a bit too quick, so it feels... very floaty. A refined movement system would definitely help. * Hm. I originally had the shoot system controlled by the player's movement keys, and changed it to the mouse last minute (Which is silly because I was intuitively pointing the mouse where I was shooting anyway the whole time) so the shooting system was very "directional", and I didn't even consider changing it. I'll give that a shot! (Edit: Ha. Give the shooting system a shot. Oops.) * That's a good point. Maybe some kind of money-themed way to grab it from a distance grappling hook style? * Yeah, I might have gone a bit too much with that one. I kind of wanted a "Use everything you've learned" kind of level, and might have gone overboard. Oops :P

Thanks for playing, and for the great feedback! Much appreciated :D

@matevt Thank you! The coin thief guys seem to be a favorite XP

@goog Thanks! Glad my work paid off :D

@coleslaughter Ah, yes. I could definitely work on that quite a bit. I was hoping to have more self-explanatory graphics like I did for the "Less coin = higher jump" bit, but ran out of time. Maybe more levels that are based around mechanics to learn about how the game works too!

Yes, adding more ability to aim would probably help quite a bit. Lower frustration. Thanks!

I'm really happy you enjoyed my game! It took quite a while to make, and seeing all the critique people have for my game makes it all worthwhile :D

Coinroll Adventures by MrPiedPiper 2019-05-28T20:22:32Z

@philstrahl Thank you for playing my game! I’m glad you enjoyed it :D

I think the reason you got stuck can only be blamed on my game missing a step in it’s learning curve.

The way I wanted the player to get a coin up there, was by stacking coins on the ground so that they’d be high enough. I probably should have dedicated an obstacle to that idea earlier on :P

Anywho, I loved watching you play it, and learned alot from seeing somebody (other than family) try it out.

Thanks :D

Moneyons! by Maytch 2019-04-30T07:51:09Z

That was really well put together! Good Legend Of Zelda style puzzles, cute graphics, fitting music, and more. This game was great fun going though!

Quick few things I should mention: * Some of the walls in the end room don't collide with the player. I had fun running around out of bounds XP * In the room full of spikes, the amount you walk into a room automatically makes you take damage.

99Hearts by barret 2019-05-03T06:24:49Z

Wow, this was a ton of fun! Creating the play are was a great idea. At first I thought the game was broken because I ended up with negative hearts, but then I found the lose condition. That was a nice touch as well, makes things less abrupt.

I must say, I really wish I had read those instructions before playing. I didn't realize I could stand still and shoot simultaneously XP I saw the post about your game on the feed and went straight to the game.

Anywho, amazing job!

Edit: Forgot to mention I found a bug! Before I got a bomb upgrade, I could place a second bomb right as the first was exploding, and have them both explode at the same time!

Edit 2: I decided to do another run, and managed to get OP. It was a blast! I do with there was more of a challenge at some point, or a reason to keep playing after you get to that point, but hey. Ludum Dare. The Graphics, Audio, and Gameplay worked perfectly together. One of the best Ludum Dare 44 games I've played so far!

Graphical weirdness: If you pick up multiple upgrades they stack the images on top of one-another.

CREAM by shulololo 2019-05-01T19:12:54Z

This was pretty cool! I really like the idea, and it looks/sounds great! Though, I feel like the "Cha-ching" noise was cut a little short.

I was trying to be strategic about who I sent money to, thinking about some deep mechanics. But, as I see from your previous comment, I guess you ran out of time. If you manage to implement this kind of thing later, it'd give the game a *huge* boost. (At the moment, you can literally just give as much money as possible and there's no lose condition)

Great job on this! Enjoyed it :D

Temerarious by SynysterCola 2019-04-30T05:03:29Z

Great job on this! I went all the way through, and it was a great experience. Loved the music going into battle, and that pun at the end is great XP

Keep Dem' Sick ! by VuvuzuellaInc 2019-04-30T03:18:22Z

Great job! It was fun to play (especially after I saw your comment say the arrow keys work) and well put together. If you plan to expand on this, maybe you could add a bit more of a reason to focus on more patients than just one, and a better reason to keep playing. (High score?)

Excellent job!

Peepo's Parlour by Team Kelly 2019-04-30T02:55:26Z

I feel somewhat disturbed. That was incredibly well done! The voice acting (which was awesome), the sounds, music, graphics, it all fit together perfectly!

Amazing job. One of the only things that bothered me, would be that I sometimes wasn't sure which flavor was which. (Which one is the red swirl!?) Maybe I gave the right flavor, but the wrong size? More feedback as to what I got wrong would make it nicer :D

obsessed by Oktarian 2019-04-30T19:32:03Z

Enjoyed playing this! The rewind mechanic was really cool. It could be improved with a few tweaks, but you did really well! Especially with the amount of time we're given to develop.

My suggestions would be: * You've already mentioned this, but more clarity for when you're invincible would be nice. Maybe have the player flicker, or have some visual change? Like how in Mario games the player flickers, and in Smash Bros the player is more white and flashes? * I'd have enjoyed having it faster with obstacles farther apart. Right now, it feels a bit slow. * Maybe you could have more of a penalty for hitting a spike, but allow the player to control the time rewind so they can avoid it and feel awesome. Then, you could have special obstacles that would lead to harm, unless the player is skilled enough to get the reward and rewind without getting hit.

Again, great job!

Angry Planet by grllle 2019-04-30T08:44:03Z

This game is really amazing! The graphics are beautiful and unique, the sounds are so fitting (Great ambient noise), and shaking people off the bottom of the planet is both humorous, and makes fun noises!

Something you might want to consider adding if you keep developing this: I kept looking at that one meteor just floating around and thinking, "I sure wish I could use that."

Time City by zhaojun8443 2019-04-30T02:40:14Z

Loved the style! Pretty easy to understand, and fun to play. I didn't hear any sound while I was playing, but otherwise things went pretty smoothly.

Meter Maid DX by No Grapes Games 2019-04-30T08:11:11Z

I loved playing though this one! The art was ***adorable***, and the gameplay was easy to understand. Great fun! (Also, go Godot!)

I tried taking penalties and seeing what happens when you run out of money, and you did great there too. Adorable "out of money" animation, and great idea for the tickets!

The main idea that comes to mind when I thought about how you could improve it, would be changing Mimi's sprite so you can see the money meter change along with the GUI. Like in Splatoon how the ink tanks are on the Inklings backs, but instead the (hat? Not sure what that's called.) on Mimi's head.

BraveBelly (Thiccboy hurdle jump sim) no download required by TomasMunro 2019-04-30T05:47:02Z

That was fun! Great job on the graphics and music; they go great with the feel of your game!

I did notice the game was sort of "jumpy", though. No pun intended, I mean it wasn't smooth all the time. Like, it slowed down and sped up making things sort of "jumpy".

But yeah, loved the gameplay! Good fun :D

I Have Nothing - If I don't take from you! by Imphenzia 2019-10-08T07:50:00Z

This was actually really well done. I spent sooooo long making trips and completing collections.

Things I'd change: * I spent an incredible amount of time waiting for the lady to leave, running in, and running back. After a while, it got a bit old. Maybe a timer would help increase the action a bit? * Mini achievements would help keep interest longer as well. Things like "Fully dressed", "Kitchenware", ect. * I really really wanted to toss something out my apartment's window. * Maybe have the option to allow the player to see where/how-far she can see?

But really, there's so much good here. It's basically the embodyment of how I me and my siblings started out "Hello Neighbor". Run in, grab stuff, run back and put it in your house. Perfection

And the extra little bits are excellent. Sounds, music, graphics, this game is awesome.

(By the way, I stopped at 4500 points)

I Have Nothing - If I don't take from you! by Imphenzia 2019-10-11T20:33:53Z

Oh by the way, something I forgot to mention. I noticed sometimes when I was being chased, dropping the item I was holding would make her stop chasing me. One time I tried it, she left me alone. The other time, she resumed chase.

I Have Nothing - If I don't take from you! by Imphenzia 2019-10-11T21:36:59Z

Void/Entropy by Tygrak 2019-10-13T02:22:48Z

Ahhhhhhh that was so hard.

I saw a post on the main page issuing a challenge to complete this, and decided to give it a shot. This thing was amazingly well done. My eyes felt a bit weird occasionally with all that moment on-screen at once. The music was excellent, and I loved how you could hear the new area each checkpoint. Really added alot to the experience.

Main thing I'd change... After all this time, I really wished that the Shift button would make me fast, instead of slow. Or at least that I could have held the right Shift instead. My pinky cries.

Amazing game, maybe my favorite all jam. Nothing like a good challenge!

(And thank you so much for adding checkpoints)

Unlock Everything by DDRKirbyISQ 2019-10-07T23:44:50Z

Amazing job!

Chroma by yyam 2019-10-08T06:56:57Z

Excellent little platformer! Really brings new meaning to the term "3D platformer" XD

Really enjoyed it. Reminds me of a cross between "Ink" and the B-Side unlock parts of "Celeste".

Other than occasionally wishing there were more checkpoints, this was an great fun.

It did feel odd that the enemies could hit me from "outside my sight", but I couldn't land on platforms "outside my sight". But, I get how it was needed for the levels, so

White Starts With Nothing by Baturinsky 2019-10-08T06:39:43Z

This is an excellent idea, and you really pulled it off. Nicely done! Main things I'd personally want to change: The placing felt odd. I think the piece was offset from the mouse pointer, and I wasn't sure if I was pointing from the piece, my mouse, or both. So sometimes it wouldn't let me place a piece, and I wouldn't know if it was how I was clicking, or if I just couldn't move there.

Overall, an amazing game. Sent this to a friend who does alot of chess, they're sure to enjoy it!

TinyBeat by Tiberiusuciu 2019-10-08T06:29:18Z

Enjoyed playing! This could grow to be a great little rhythm game. Enjoyed the gameplay, and the sounds were nice! I do wish it was a tad bit more forgiving on the timing I press on the note, but that might just be my inexperience in the area. (I've only ever really played 1 rhythm game, so I don't know the standard)

Good fun, nice job!

Bob the Brawler by itsdanidre 2019-10-14T03:03:55Z

Excellent game! Probably my only complaints are that I could get combo-d into oblivion (which might be on purpose), and that I'd sometimes click off-screen and not have it register. One time I was trying to place a wall, but as the mouse was in the black border of the fullscreen it was bringing up the context menu. I almost saved the webpage

@pinosaur @madbarron I had no idea that was even an option, thanks! Glad you liked it!

@sbrianz @cybikitty Super happy with how it turned out, Thanks for taking the time to try our game! :D

@fredbernardo We could definitely improve that if we do any post-jam updates. Thanks! Glad you had fun ^^

Acorn Rush by MrPiedPiper 2019-10-08T23:05:55Z

@djee Sorry we didn't make that clear enough :grimacing: We'll have to work on that for a post-jam version.

You can deposit the acorns into the tree by either shooting them in, or putting them in directly (clicking when you're in the hole)

Make sure to watch out for the thief squirrels, they take up to 200 points and make a run for it. If you knock them down, the points are added back automatically. Plus, they leave a golden acorn worth double a normal acorn!

Acorn Rush by MrPiedPiper 2019-10-11T22:27:12Z

I tried just pushing on the heart, but I like responding to comments more soooooo

@velvetlobster Glad you liked the music! It was fun to make. Ukulele is a blast :D

@mimusangel Cool that you found it relaxing! I find it rather frantic myself, really want those high scores.

@yokuday Yayyyy adorableness! @stinkykitty did such a good job on making things cute and bubbly. Thank you!

@psychic-ash <3

@marcoming :D :D :D

@vaibho Thank you! We might have made it a bit too hard. Whoops :P Maybe a difficulty option would be good

@djee We should probably work on the sound effect to make it less annoying, yeah. Maybe quieter too. Thanks for the feedback! Sorry how to play wasn't clear enough :< We definitely need some kind of in-game instructions. Maybe a "First time playing?" tutorial or something.

@organicpencil We should definitely add some clear way to show when you get/lose points so there's no confusion. Thank you! ^^

@t-bo @stinkykitty did an amazing job on the graphics ^^ Thank you!

@quietgecko Flying squirrel XD Thanks! And your game is 100% on my list of games to try out. Yours was made with Godot too, if I'm not mistaken :eyes:

@ropedog Thanks! The music was great fun to record. Late at night the day before the jam was done, recording with Audacity. Glad you enjoyed :D

@imphenzia Quite glad you enjoyed playing our game. Pushing the acorns is an interesting idea we might have to explore later  Thanks! :D

Hope I didn't miss anybody.

@xenoxygene We should probably make it so you don't have to repeatedly press the button to move. Would improve it quite a bit. Congrats on 1k points! That's pretty good. 3k took a few tries  This game is a bit unforgiving in its current state.

The music was quite fun to record, ukulele is a blast. And @stinkykitty did great with their art. Really happy with how the game ended up!

@tygrak Glad you had fun! I think 1600 is the highest non-creator score I've seen so far. Nicely done!

As for how to get a higher score, here's what I do:

-----

The main idea is of course to get as many points as possible in the shortest amount of time. And the fastest way to get points in this game, would be the Golden Acorns.

The main idea I go for when trying for a high score, is to get rid of the bad squirrels as quickly as possible, so I can gather Golden Acorns. Of course, any regular Acorns you can gather while doing this is helpful.

Also remember to keep an eye on the timer, so you can take out whatever squirrels are holding your points in their bags before time runs out, and so you can make a last second delivery for extra points.

-----

Hopefully this isn't just a bunch of stuff you already know :P

Acorn Rush by MrPiedPiper 2019-10-18T00:22:12Z

@itsdanidre Thanks for trying it out! We'll definitely have to make it more intuitive. Much work to be done. Glad you liked it :grinning:

Missing Entry by cyriaque 2019-10-08T06:19:34Z

This is pretty incredible. I had a tab opened where you talked about it just so I could come back once it was done, and it does not disappoint. Amazing job!

Faze by Xenoxygene 2019-10-12T04:32:39Z

This, was excellent. I've been meaning to check it out ever since I saw that it was a fellow squirrel game, and it definitely delivered. You guys did soooo well. The graphics, sound, gameplay, everything. In fact, after winning once, I mentioned how cool it was and started it over to show somebody what it was like. After they walked away, I ended up finishing up my second playthrough XP

Favorite points: * The screen wrap was incredibly well done. Combined with great level design, it really stood out to me. * Making everything pretty and alive was very gratifying, and well executed. * Possibly my favorite part, would be the way things were revealed. I believe its a shader? The way they just sort of... "phased" into existence, was so good, and made a great first impression

I did feel like the character momentum was off at one point, but I think I got it now. I also sort of wish I could have somehow peeked at the other side of the map before jumping off the screen. Not sure how you'd work with that, though. Maybe having it seamless from one side to the other? Like walking around the planet. Might confuse players though so

Anywho, amazing job.

And yes, I got the golden acorn. Twice XD

8-Bit of Farming by StinkyKitty 2020-04-21T04:58:15Z

@kokiriboots Thanks :D

@welby @fermak I was afraid it'd be too slow, we ran out of time before we could give it a proper balance test run for the prices :< Come to think of it, I wonder if I could add a post-jam money button so people can experience the whole thing 🤔

@cz46 Glad you liked it ^-^

@billehbawb You get money by selling plants in the shipping bin. Plant something on the dirt near the bottom of the room, harvest it, then sell it in the bin. After you get a bit of money, you should be able to right click at a gate to unlock it!

8-Bit of Farming by StinkyKitty 2020-04-21T05:16:43Z

@synystercola Thanks for the feedback, we'll have to try and speed things up.

@michael-sjogren You have to re-plant the corn after each harvest, unless I managed to break something. The game is supposed to be a calm one, you can't technically lose ^-^ Thanks for playing!

@alex-horstman Odd audio issues 🤔 I'll have to look into that. Thanks for letting me know! And apologies for not making it clear you could plant things, I've edited the page to hopefully help with that ^^; We'll have to see if we can speed things up. Thanks for playing our game! :D

@enya454 Whoops, intuitive design I have not. I've edited the post to help with that, thanks ^^; We'll get to speeding up the gameplay, thanks!

@quillwerth Sorry about that, must have been a bit frustrating being stuck in the room like that :/ I've edited the post to hopefully make that clearer for new players. Will have to try and balance progression as well :P > 4 bars in a game this centered on waiting isn’t quite enough

That, is an excellent point. We'll 100% add more audio and music stuff assuming we develop this more. Thanks a ton for playing, and for the quality feedback. So glad you liked the game!

8-Bit of Farming by StinkyKitty 2020-04-21T05:29:43Z

@drewg8 So glad you liked the game! The farmer's design was a spur-of-the-moment doodle while we were tossing around game ideas.

Here's a screenshot of the first design: 8BitOfFarmingDesign.jpg

We'll have to make the planting thing more clear, for sure. Speed is definitely an issue to tackle as well ^^;

Thanks for the great feedback, really glad you enjoyed the game! :D

8-Bit of Farming by StinkyKitty 2020-04-21T06:51:56Z

@armytag I see what you mean on the pacing. I did a test play just now, and you're spot on there. Will get to fixing that up 👍 As for what's on the player's face, it's a nose :D Glad you enjoyed the game, thanks for the great feedback!

8-Bit of Farming by StinkyKitty 2020-04-21T06:54:59Z

@abyss Your comments on how slow might be a good thing are intriguing. We might have to add in alternative plants that grow slower, but give quite a bit more. As long as the player decides to make things grow slower, it should be less bothersome having to wait.

Realtime growth is a great idea too! I'd love to have this an AnimalCrossing style farming game. We'd need a bit of world building to make that feel worthwhile for players, but I love this idea. Definitely will be giving it more thought for any post-jam version we do.

Huge thanks for the comment, glad you liked our game 😄

To anybody keeping up with the comments here, we've made a quick hotfix-style update! Changelog at the top, but it mostly fixes more major issues, balances progression, and fixes some small visual/audio errors. The original is of course still available for download.

8-Bit of Farming by StinkyKitty 2020-04-21T23:23:07Z

@catalystl Hey, thanks for trying our game! :D Those changes sound awesome, definitely will have to try for something like that in future updates. Thanks for taking the time to play through that far too, seeing as how the balance in the original version is basically non-existent :P

Thanks for playing, hope you had fun! ^-^

8-Bit of Farming by StinkyKitty 2020-04-24T07:56:43Z

@grentacular After our last game of fast paced arcade frantic-ness, it was really nice making one where the player could just slow down and enjoy farming. Glad you enjoyed it :D

8-Bit of Farming by StinkyKitty 2020-05-02T01:58:40Z

@kaisean-games Balancing was our downfall for sure. Didn't prioritize playtesting the game, and ended up with a WAY unbalanced product. And thanks for the bug report, too!

Really pleased you liked the graphics, I'm quite happy with how they turned out :D

Many thanks for playing!

Mr Ficus by KreGames 2020-04-22T18:03:38Z

Interesting game, enjoyed. I played through a week, and managed to keep it alive through ^-^

As for what I'd personally change, I'd like to have some way of knowing whether I need more/less temperature and more/less water. Otherwise I'll see the temp turn orange, and not be sure how to fix it ^^; Some feedback to show that I actually watered the plant would be nice too.

Overall, I liked the concept, and you made it work pretty well. Congrats on your game!

Save the Plant by burg113 2020-04-22T18:16:50Z

Just played through, good game! Love that you managed to have procedural generation.

I did notice that the enemies apparently can't hurt me (at least in the original version) for some reason pickups block my bullets. Otherwise, things went smoothly. Well done on the game!

Don't Let the Flame Die Out by Zeta4mStudios 2020-04-21T04:26:41Z

Interesting puzzle game, enjoyed playing it! You made some neat mechanics and I could see this game ending up really cool. Had fun, nicely done!

Turtle Team by welby 2020-05-10T07:20:48Z

This was really quite interesting. I loved how you went for a pixely 3d look, it was quite unique. I was expecting sounds, but hey, it's a jam. They would add a lot to the game for atmosphere. The little crew-members were great, and the controls were intuitive. The buttons seemed to have their text completely blurred away, but it was pretty clear that the turtle sped up and slowed down just by mousing over, so that's fine. With a few extra challenges to make this a bit more attention-grabbing, this could turn into its own game that I could see playing quite a bit more.

You did great, well done!

(Side note: When the turtle is inside the goal orb the buttons don't work)

Edit: Also, congrats on your first LD game! :D

Heart Combustion by Head Tilt Games 2020-04-21T04:06:53Z

It ended up crashing at some point (I believe I mounted a repaired tower and tried to shoot something?), but I was quite enjoying the game. Good fun. Awesome twist allowing the player to manually control the towers as well!

Josh Dumb by Catalystl 2020-04-21T03:48:32Z

I wasn't expecting too much going in, but this was actually incredibly fun. This thing is a gem! Managed to make it through to the end as well :D The graphics and voice acting were awesome, loved every bit. Gameplay was difficult, but pretty fair. I have 0 idea how I'd get the coins surrounding the turret. Congratulations on this thing, it was honestly so much fun playing through.

P.S. One of the levels I found out I could just... walk through the lava. On that specific level. It was an earlier level, with breaking blocks and a turret.

Viral by kokiriboots 2020-05-10T04:13:44Z

Enjoyed! Interesting gameplay. I quite liked that I could control both the player and the cough at the same time.

I would have enjoyed that being expanded upon a bit more, with bits that required moving while controlling the cough, but I think things worked out the way you did it. Things did feel a bit flung together with a few visuals (blurry graphics, misaligned walls, stretched textures), and some collision shapes were *bit* weird, but overall I quite enjoyed playing through this. You did a great job, congratulation on the great game!

And also, congrats on your first LD entry! Looking forward to see what you do next ^-^

Edit: Hey, first game too! 👏👏👏

A Good Way to Die by Pennycook 2020-10-06T02:55:18Z

Great game! Loved the humor, and nothing broke. My personal favorite bit was the different dialog Death gives after each death 💀

Peck-It! by StinkyKitty 2020-10-07T04:21:31Z

@pennycook Thanks for playing, glad you like it!

Now that you mention it, putting a button that says "How To **Play**" next to the actual play button *(which doesn't say play)* might have been a mistake XP

Perhaps we should have put the "How To Play" button beside the "Let's roll!" button as a little question mark button instead

Big thanks for letting us know! :D

Divine Drifter by Enzar17 2020-10-06T03:17:50Z

This, was fun. Excellent job on the game! Drifting around feeling like a pro was a blast, and the near misses make for such a cool feeling. Loved the graphics, the audio, and I've gotta say, the intro video was awesome. Loved it!

A not so boring game by clemetayer 2020-10-14T22:06:25Z

Pretty neat game! Reminded me of games such as "This is not a game". Quite enjoyable to go through. The one thing I thought I should mention, is that when I was told to type "ludum" then restart, I typed "ludum" then closed the game myself. Didn't realize I was supposed to press the "hit" button again

Funny enough, I spent a bit of time before the jam looking into control mapping in Godot myself! Didn't end up using it though, our project is 100% mouse clicks XP

Qnight EveryDay Quest by Tomycase 2020-10-14T22:27:41Z

This has to be one of my favorite ls 47 games so far! The graphics were beautiful, and the idea executed well. Loved the subtle hints, and thoroughly enjoyed figuring out the solution. One attempt I tried to ping-pong the energy ball back, didn't work out well XP

8 days for me :D

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Double Bubble by jonathan-turner 2021-04-27T21:08:32Z

Wow, this was good. Spent so much time trying for a high score! Definitely caught me off guard when we got to the deeper depths and things (like the music) changed.

A lot of my time was spent with my head at funny angles looking at the bottom of the screen trying to see as much as possible, so I sometimes had trouble seeing my life count since they're at the top left.

Loved the credits and title being at the top of the level, and the submarine being a part of the title (before play began) was a great little surprise. Enjoyable fitting music, nice clear graphics and the gameplay/controls felt good. Is there anything beyond 20,000?

Excellent job!

(Our high score was 20,922)

Boombox by auxC 2021-04-28T00:48:43Z

This was well done! I went through difficulties getting the hang of things, and managed to beat the hardest level. Took a while (test of endurance), but I did it!

One attempt I managed to get break the game. I think I accidentally clicked on the box while it was coming out of the one I just unlocked. It made the box stop "unboxing", and I couldn't access any of the locks :/

Other than that and another attempt where the box was oddly rotated (maybe the same issue as above?), things went smoothly! Had fun, and the music/graphics were excellent.

Had tons of fun, great job!

My Little Tree by chuckeles 2021-04-28T03:14:10Z

This was a great game! I really enjoyed growing out the roots and watching my tree grow bigger :D

No real complaints, I didn't run into any issues. Possible nice additions would be to hit a button that shows which roots are still able to grow, or show a visualization on the angle available for a root to spread to (when placing a new root).

The textures were fitting, icons made sense, gameplay went smoothly. Great entry, nicely done!

I'm quite happy with how my tree ended up by the end ^-^

Abyss. by Darylsteak 2021-04-27T23:07:10Z

This was awesome! I saved a page from earlier in the Jam when I saw the awesome sonar mechanic, glad I did. You did a great job on the base mechanic, and the mood was excellent. I felt a bit slow as I dove deeper into the depths, but I could see that being on purpose or even required since you can't really see where you're going. I did find that you can spam the sonar, and it looks awesome. Slows down the game of course, but hey! Good fun and helpful being able to use it as-needed.

Again, this was so good. Loved the HUD, the art, the tension, sound cues, this is my favorite entry so far.

Deep Space ONE by MrPiedPiper 2021-04-28T20:47:09Z

@kylethecoder Yikes, we had no idea. Really sorry about that, it was completely unintentional. We've gone ahead and updated the game, making the necessary changes. Thank you for letting us know.

Ballast by Ekoxe 2021-04-27T23:26:06Z

This was good fun! The frantic management of so many things was enjoyable, and I ran into no issues. Things were clearly communicated, graphics and sounds were on point, and controls were great. At first I thought it'd just get harder and harder 'till I lost, but it ends up there is indeed an ending.

This would work great as a mobile game too.

Great job!

Chess The Second by aslan 2023-01-09T00:14:04Z

This is really cool! I liked the familiar movement from chess, combined with the strategy of securing the resources on the board. A wonderful idea, executed well. Nice!

My only suggestion would be that you make the enemy pieces another color. Maybe randomize which color the player starts as, and make the opponent the opposite? Have lots of colors like in Splatoon? Preferably with symbols so that it's color-blind friendly.

Straightforward controls, easy to understand, fun to play. Nicely done!
