Amazing! The art is addictive and invites to play. 10/10
This is really good. I am so impressed. The art, style, and overall quality of this is astounding. great job!
My favorite game so far. Absolutely hilarious premise, and fun gameplay that's very easy to pick up. Would be fun to try this with a controller. Nice work :)
Dear God, this game is something. It's simple and addictive. On the scale of weirdness 8/10. Great job! I've once got a permanent ripple on the screen(bug?), it may be used as interesting trick to make game more complicated (distorted image).
HILARIOUS! Funny game, extremely creative.
The funniest game I've played so far this jam, and also really fun to play. The war footage playing in the background genuinely made me crack up.
Gameplay is quite fun and is has a nice distinctive style. Good unusual twist on the theme.
The art is very cool!
Art is phenomenol!! Very funny on-theme game. Simple game play is fun.
Holy crap this is GREAT!
So cute! Loved the artwork, but keep playing because it was so fun! One of my favorite parts are the black and white videos \(>u<)/
Wow, color me impressed! loved everything about this game. The art, the name, the game play, the uniqueness and the music is all fantastic! This is my favorite so far and this will be hard to beat. This idea is so bazaar it could be a real game. Great since of humor guys and the black and white videos is a great touch! So creative!
251404 was my best score. I played it a LOT.
Really good, enjoyed all the memories, lots of fun.
Really cool ! Never seen that gameplay anywhere else. I really like the music, did you make it :open_mouth: ? Congratz !
Great drawing :) and the game is kind of fun.. the music work really well :)
I did 18808 but played only once
Ok this is the funniest game ever! I adored the intro and the graphics details (the foxes lamp!<3) Granny's character design is so funny and the wait...you stick crochet needles in her nose? Brilliant. I had a lot of fun knitting her synapsis following the music (and watching the old movie). What to say...I would buy this.
Funny, simple, addictive.
Hilarious twist with the theme yet 100% accurate, great realisation as well. Artstyle is very nice and fits really well.
Brilliant entry. Congrats!
I had so much fun playing this game! It's funny, control is intuitive and it kept me entertained. Kepp it up!
Strange, but in a good way. Love the music and art! Really well made overall.
@roilbauk We got the background music from this talented musician: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMBMuCczSeU
Thanks for playing :)
Is there anything to add? This is one hilarious experience, buttery smooth gameplay, graphics and audio on a level from beyond this world (do your artist have instagram or something so I can follow them?), an awesomely dumb idea pumped to 101 %. Love it through and through!
The art style is so different in game and in the cutscene. The game is absolutely perfect!
Very unexpected, and I love that! The music and sound effects are so on point! The input is also pretty satisfying. Really enjoyed it :)
I love intro art style to this and probably shrieked when granny got her nose shoved with a pair of knitters but I love it.
It is sort of a whack-a-mole style theme and I just want to nitpick it a little. The camera shake gets a little disorientating when I'm going ham, making it very hard to do accurate combos. Also, I would like a sort of visual/audio cue to let me know when it's a good time to spam on the same bunch of balls.
This must be the most disgusting game in this jam and I love it!
What a ridiculously novel idea! So satisfying to play when you get a rhythm going, I like how forgiving and not bogged down in mechanics it is. I love how outlandish the graphical switch-up is - reminds me of when 90s cartoons would do that and you'd just feel uncomfortable.
My only complaint is that it would be nice if you could transition from one direction to another more seamlessly - for example, being able to press up and left at the same time to swish the movement over, instead of letting go and waiting, then pressing a new direction. Also the voice acting was a little jarring quality wise, if only because the rest of it was so good.
I loved that! I laughted so hard the whole first run I needed a second try to get a decent score. Man I mean, the WW2 movie in the background nailed it for me. I made sure to send the link to EVERYONE.
Such a great game. I absolutely loved everything about this one.
I love everything about this one. Goddamm good job guys! I started laughing the moment the intro started. Nice rhythm game mechanics
Awesome style choices! It had me smiling the whole time.
Thank you for submitting your game to be played on my stream!
Once the stream is finished you can find the video here: https://www.twitch.tv/ursagames/videos If you want to know when it was played you can find your game in the queue here: https://tinyurl.com/y5rdokvp
I loved it playing... It was really enjoying... Nice game.. you could have added levels to make it more interesting... All the best
This is why I love LD. This game is played from such a unique perspective, it's brilliant. Like others, I loved the movie playing in the background. Out of curiosity, if this was made in Unity, how did you do that?
Every part of the art is awesome. I was drew in from the logo at first, but every part really did impress me. The gameplay is shockingly interesting for being so simple. Color me impressed, I look forward to future games!
@peachtreeoath Thanks for playing :) We got the video playing in the background by using Unity's video player component to stream the video and render it to a texture. We then took that texture and applied it as a material to a UI panel. Hope that helps, all the best.
oh duh that makes sense. I've used rendertextures for camera output but totally forgot it could do video that way too, thanks.
this game is totally awesome. i like this kind of sarcasm and humor you are using, its hilarious. the game mechanic and controlls are simple and easy to understand. i like the artstyle in the intro and the sound totally fits the theme. from me you get 5/5. well done!
Artwork is great and very fitting music.I loved the intro cutscene! and look forward to seeing more :)
Super game, it made my day! Just happy to play your game after leaving my bed !
300897!!! I was ready to skip past this entry but the art style drew me in and I am SO GLAD it did! This was a great fun entry with a lot of charm and care. Well done all!
Great game! Hillarious idea and perfect execution. I just wish there was more to it but I get you may not have had time. I love it xD Awesome job!
The story is bloody evil x), great little game, the story is really appreciated. Took time to understand what was the feedback for neurons going to red.
The best game i played on ld44 so far. Thank you!
That music is fitting so lovley good! Artwork is very well made aswell! Sadly the intro was a bit too short^^ Enjoyed the gameplay a lot! A button to instant restart the game would be nice thought. In cas u have a bad start.
Holy Moly! A lot to unpack. Great Idea, addictive gameplay a strange humor and great audio. My first 5 star rating in this jam.
WTF did I just play! ...thanks, that was awesome :D
Really nice intro. It would be nice to be able to select a keybord scheme because it's completly messed up for the left hand on azerty keyboard making the game unplayable.
Super fun! loved it, and that background music just fits perfectly.
First of all: Looks very clean and well-rounded! graphics, animations, choice of sounds, voica-acting and cartoony humor are top notch! I also like that contrast of the cute, cell-shaded cartoon style, transitiong to that 3D creepy body-horror-ish appeal. Nice touch on the old footage running in Granny's eyes too! Creative way of explaining the mechanics of the game in the tutorial. When touching the red brain cell: "Oh, that memory is gone!"
Fun to play most when having to avoid the red ones and only touching the cyan-blue ones. The only thing I have to criticise is that when the darker blue ones appear and you have to keep knitting them until they're done, it kind of throws me out of the flow of tryng to hit the cyan-blue ones as fast as possible while trying to avoid the red ones. Kind of wish it was only the red and the cyan-blue ones. Then again, I get the point that the blue ones are a challange that you have to be careful once they turn red and you lose a huge amount of points when the player doesn't pay attention.
Overall, awesome work!
Amazing job! Almost everything was top notch here! I really want to see a full, long game made by you guys!
Man, this is an awesome game. The idea is so wacky but it works perfectly. You did a really great job creating the feel of the game - the footage in the background, the voice overs, the art in the beginning. The close-up of the nose was very SpongeBob-esque haha.
The game itself was also great - I like that you had a pretty clear idea of what the core mechanic was, and just executed on that really well. The only thing I'd say, and some others have said it, is that the dark blue nodes were a bit hard to work with.
I kind of wish there was some sort of a cue that they were about to turn red or something, even if that changed in frequency or time whenever a new dark blue one arose. I don't know, maybe that's a bad idea, but it feels like there's possibly something you could improve there.
Anyway, truly can't say anything negative - this was awesome and one of my favorite entries!
This was disgusting and hilarious. I kept getting so pissed off when I would get 400k in pts and then still not win. What do you have to hit? I have yet to win, but I've been sitting here for 15 minutes, playing the dang thing. Great job.
@bakenshake There actually is no "beating" this game, sorry if that wasn't clear! The main goal is just to try and get the highest score possible. :)
400k pts is probably the biggest I've seen reported so far though, so congrats on that! Hope you enjoyed your time getting there! :)
@coleslaughter I'm coming back to beat the dev high score. *ahem*
Really awesome direction to have taken. Sound and Graphics shine the most but a very fun game aswell. Kinda gross, I love that :)
Really dope, loved it. Recommended it someone live streaming to play.
A simple game but with lots of appeal and flair to it. Love how the music almost seam to match the input and gets you in a really nice rythm.
This game is without no question the best i've played for this game jam so far. Absolutely amazing! AND I almost beat your Highscore Screenshot_3.png
Interesting game
Simple gameplay, nice graphics and great music!
Well done
Creeeeepyyyyyy !!!! And also an awesome game Intro!!! i just missed the lack of the art in the intro during the core gameplay loop...
The feedback should be more Juicy, like adding some idle deformation on the silhouette of the "nodes" followed by a pulse into it's scale and electric pulses running accross the node conections, add some pulse upscaling as much as the user is connecting and increasing the combo, and flash the color of the nurmber... some electric arcs floating around the nodes could be attracted to the tip of the knitting needles and upon contact, ddischarge a running lighting arc downards the extent of the needle and some particles bouncing accross the cranium and add some reaction of the eye holes ...
Very fun game and incredibly creative idea. Well executed as well. The introduction was hilarious
The gameplay was simple, but well thought out. At first I was mashing buttons as quickly as I could and not caring much about little errors. But then I realized that mistakes kill combos, so I took a new approach and was more careful. Then I realized that the blue neurons blink differently when they're about to change! So I increased my high score even more by mashing buttons when they looked "safe". Those little touches make this game feel very polished, well thought out, and complete.
Overall it was a pleasure to play. Well done!
Great job, love the aesthetic and theme!
i am completely blown away, its such a fun idea with a amazing art, audio, music and gameplay. Such a great plesure to play and enjoy this game!
Well, this was a blast!!! Really fun and smooth experience.
That was... Intriguing?? Super fun though! Good job, love the art!!
Cool crazy idea....my nose tingled just a bit every time I drove those needles UP into the top sensors! Gnarly fun!!
Brilliant Idea. clearly one of the best. audio is really nicely chosen and the premises are as cruel as they are fun. Really nice concept! Great job
This game is honestly probably the funnest game I've played all of Ludum Dare 44. You guys did an amazing job at making a simple, addicting, quality game is this short time. Incredible job!
Only thing that's missing is a "Oops my combo just died better hit restart" button. Unless I missed it
Hahahahaha this game is awesome guys! I love how the voice and the music merge together. It's the best part.
The gameplay is addicting and easy to grasp. I felt the difficulty was in the sweet spot.
This game could have been rythmic (if it is I didn't notice, but I tried to play at the same pace as the music and it was fun)
The intro scene is amazing and disgusting at the same time.
The sounds when hitting neurons give good feedback.
One of my favorites so far!
Nice idea and great intro :v:
Amazing stuff! Very funny concept, great graphics, tacky gameplay, cool music. I really like that touch with the old videos playing through her eyes. Cheers!
Who knew that lobotomizing your grandmother could be so entertaining! The game is very well polished and unique, your take on the theme is very interesting! The graphics are great along with the gameplay. I would say though that the music was a tad annoying sometimes, but overall I don't think it affected the experience that much. Great work!
That was very fun, and such a strange and original concept. The music was really good, and that mixed with the sounds made me play it kind of like a rhythm game even if it got me a lower score. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Loved the twitch-response gameplay and interesting audio. Felt like guitar hero meets Simon, that classic color-coded memory game originating from the 80's. Really solid entry and definitely unique!
EDIT: Also thought the old-school vertex shader look was very nice.
It's very funny game! :joy_cat: One small issue is that Firefox don't show intro (only skip button), Chrome works fine.
Cool and different game. I found it fun to play with good and tight controls.
Hahaha poor granny! The art was fantastic, and the *art direction* was also fantastic! The old historical footage was SUCH a fantastic touch!
Gameplay-wise, I didn't expect a twin-stick game to be so fun (I generally don't love them). You did great! Congratulations on your entry I hope you're really proud!
Nailed the humor and the art. Also great voice acting. Would have enjoyed the combo mechanic being more obvious while playing since I only noticed it at the end. Otherwise awesome work!
BRILLIANT!
Ok, this was to most funny game of this jam! 10/10
So good and addicting! Also the music makes you want to keep playing it more and more - this serves as a lesson on how important sound is for a game.
Overall it was fun game to play, at first i was confused what to do, but eventually i figured it out. Didn't get that high of a score though ;/ only around 10k
The art was cute and inviting to play, and i really liked the cutscene at the beginning. The only problem i see is that there are no proper instructions. Well maybe i just didn't understand.
Good job on the game!
(Oh and, i just realized that there's a bug with a camera, when i played it, i didn't see the nodes on left and right)
omg, those images flashing behind grannies eyes are the funniest thing i've seen in some time, that's so clever. Poor granny, she has seen some shit! The graphics of the intro are outstanding, really great style. The gameplay was good, the only thing i had trouble with was first recognizing i shouldn't hit red synapses and stopping on blue ones when they change, i didn't see the change telegraphed. I'd have loved an outro scene like the intro, it was so cool. Great entry, good job!
This was easily an ALL IN 5 STARS
One of the better entries I've seen!
It's intuitive, the art, audio, and the cutscene at the beginning are excellent. Above all, it's the first entry I've played that's genuinely funny! If there's one gripe I have, it's that there could be more content. Introducing some additional mechanics and elements would go a long way in adding complexity and replayability. But other than that, I love it! Good job!
Quite an interesting perspective! I loved your choice of music!
Game is dope. 10/10 Would play again. Not only did I find it addicting but I felt the addiction coursing through my veins immediately causing me to get this bad boy:Knit-Worth-HighScore.PNG
Great game. Great music. Great Art. Easily better than No Man's Sky. Keep em coming! Breen would be proud
Good game but lacks balance. Would be good if it was a bit harder. hehexdtest.png hehe xd great game pic is photoshopped btw
Really funny game ^^ I really like the concept and the simple mechanics ^^ It is really easy to play but it is really hard to keep the streak up. The graphics are just beautiful and I love the intro cutscene :o I'm really impressed how polished the game is ^^ I don't know what can be done better? Maybe a bit more variety? Great game ^^
Nice games I had a fun time grandma did too x)
Top marks for humour obviously and a great interpretation of the theme. Generally the game is ridiculously well polished - the art is incredible and sound works great (though it's a bit roughly recorded I really like the voice acting too!). The actual game is quite simple but I think it works well and is perfectly scoped for a jam game.
Simple et very efficient gameplay, nice music, congrats!!
I think this is my peak. Love this game. Can't put it down KWHS3.PNG
Impressive game! Nice work. Especially the music is awesome and fits the general mood perfectly. The art is astonishing as well (even though the intro art doesn't really fit the gameplay art, but oh well). In general, this game has a very polished feel to it. And the gameplay is kinda addicting. Well done! One of the best entries I#ve played in the last week
Wow this is super silly, love it! Artwork is amazing and music is cool too. Love the old movies playing in the background, nice touch!
I just had to give you 5 start in all categories :D This was so brilliant - I loved the story, the art, the music, the game itself, this is SOOO GOOOOD! Loved it, loved it, loved it!!!
I didn't read the other comments so as to not sway my views at all, so I'm sorry if I end up repeating too many other comments.
First of all, the word wow comes to mind. For sheer craziness and uniqueness from concept to art to sound and for how it all came together into one cohesive game. I love all the little details and flourishes throughout. Also, wow at whoever got that high score. I played three times and... I didn't get close to that. But, I did get better each time which shows you've made a game that has learnable strategy and feels good as you get better. For that reason, I would have also loved to see a local high score tracker so I could see my own progress.
I also love the core gameplay tension between going as fast as you can while also being patient and safe. The fact that a quick tap on the keyboard isn't enough to cause the crochet hooks to hit the targets adds to it: you can't just mash buttons, there has to be some semblance of timing and rhythm to your play. Small note that I was initially a little confused that just tapping the key didn't cause it to hit the target. I'm not sure if there's a way to train that or convey that other than just playing the game.
This goes back to the details: great work on having an in-game tutorial to teach the mechanics. The cut-scene was fantastic as well.
With the dark blue neurons it was often hard to tell when they'd stop being targets. I know they flashed, but with the other visual feedback happening it was easy to miss. Maybe some sort of audio cue (though tricky with two sides) or something more clear than different rates of flashing. Then again, after my first round I just learned to be patient and the lack of certainty added to the tension I talked about.
A quick typo I caught, too: it should be "Testament" with an a, not an i. But the fact that I even bring that up shows how well-polished the whole experience was. Fantastic job!
@tddawson Thank you so much for the thorough feedback. It takes time to analyze the game the way you did and to write up your thoughts as well as you did. You da real mvp! Thank you :)
Brilliant! What a refreshingly different experience. The graphics and sound makes a really great atmosphere. The attention to detail here is very good. Who knew that beating balls with your keyboard could be this entertaining? Loved it!
A fantastic game. Love the take on the theme, the story, humor and mood. It was fun to play, addictive, and a perfect entry for the Jam. Well Done!!!
I liked the cartoon graphics in the beginning, music, sounds. It was fun to play. The only thing was not very comfortable to play with his left hand, but still the game is great!
Well done guys! the game looks great, plays great, and is a wonderful example of what is possible during a game jam!
Ah yes, the old "lobotomize your grandma to get your inheritance" scheme.. Haven't we all been there? Aside from casually admitting to a felony, here are our two cents on it: We had a lot of fun playing the game. Tried it multiply times, but without coming anywhere close to your highscore. The intro cutscene is spectacular and could be right out of a Rick and Morty episode. The gameplay is fun, the visuals are great and the audio ties everything together nicely! Great job!
Thanks for submitting your game for me to play on my livestream!

Hahaha that was fantastic! The beginning cutscene was amazing and it was a fun silly game to play. I'm not sure if you wanted it to be a rhythm game or not but it felt like it wanted to be. If that's what you guys were aiming for I might reinforce that with some visual queue or each set only last 1 or 2 bars, etc. That's mainly because I kind of felt like I was guessing when the blue ones were going to go. I know they flash but with the screen shake and everything I might just make it a bit clearer. Other than that, overall fantastic game. couldn't stop laughing and played it for a while.
A fantastic game with a weird gameplay. It fits the theme as good as possible. Especially I like the aesthetic and this surface shader which you described a few days ago so as to create something like a blob moving. The gameplay is addictive and its mood too funny (I love dark humor - you did). I had fun playing. Polished - addictive - clever - well done. clearly you deserve all these positive ratings. Players don't lie ++
Great game with an incredible mood and fast paced gameplay! Maybe adding another mechanics like balls with different behaviours, like inverse the other side of the balls, etc. can add more variety into the gameplay. Overall is an amazing game! Congrats!!
That was weird but surprisingly addictive. I ended up playing this for a lot longer than I originally intended to. I got a decent amount and was even up to 6 million at one point before losing it all to a fatal error! :(
Really fun game. Question though: If the audio wasn't composed during the jam, shouldn't you guys opt out of the audio category?
Hilarious concept, nice mood and fantastic gameplay. Music theme is a nice choosing with the style and story, and some details like seeing TV across the grandmas eyes is as fun as it is disturbing. Timing is great and controls worked fine for me in WebGL. I maybe missed a fair alert when a target becomes negative, i allways wrong first touch after it switches.
Nice job dudes, unforgettable style.
scoring_3.png
Solid humour and mood for sure! I like the concept. Its pretty fun to play as well, trying to get that combo as high as possible. Gameplay could have used a few more elements perhaps, some extra challenges that come in at times. But good work overall!
I've been hearing about this game a lot, and I was worried if it were overrated. I was wrong! Good job!
@aurel That's a good question. Truth is, we deliberated over that for quite a bit.
My argument was that, even though we didn't compose the music, my team did put a lot of effort into the rest of the audio. We did foley work on some of the sound effects (squirting a banana through a plastic bag, for instance) and non-trivial sound mixing and voice recording for everything else. I personally would like my team to be recognized for their efforts, and hope that players take into account the fact that we didn't compose the music when they rate.
From what we've seen so far with our ratings, that seems to be the case. Audio is our category with the fewest ratings by a *significant* margin, so we'd like to believe players are taking it into account by either abstaining from rating it or rating it based on the sound effects and voice work.
This game is impressive. The idea is really great and the graphics and audio fit well together. Also the small touches like showing granny's past are cool. Kind of wish I could read the final will :D. All in all, probably one of the greatest games I have played this jam :)
Awesome game , saw this one in a youtuve video and it shows.
