Fun and simple. I like it!
I really liked the mechanics, especially the strategy around the spies and recruit strengths/weaknesses! It might be a little confusing at first but I quickly understood what to. Good job!
Pretty interesting mechanics there, the puzzles were fun to play! Your game might be lacking better movement mechanics since solving puzzles got the movement to be pretty linear at times, maybe some acceleration/slipping might've made the game a little spicier in terms of skill and not only pathfinding. Solid entry nonetheless, good job!
Pretty fun game, though the difficulty curve might be a little soft... :P However, the tech behind it looks sweet, well done!
The movement (actually the first LD game I played in which I have speed) ended up making aiming a real pain, and when carrying these power fruits I can't outrun the locals, making health loss unavoidable. I also didn't understand how I was supposed to find the beacon, though after checking around I finally was able to play the game. However, the graphics are really nice, and the music/mood do a great job!
Really good concept! The rules are a bit hard to grasp but I figured them out halfway through my first game. Great work on the visuals as well! It lacks a bit of visualization for how energy is lost but it still works fine! I feel the ability mechanic is really good as well, though some spells could last many turns or have some more refined abilities? I'd love to see a post-jam version though! Rock-solid entry! I recorded some gameplay, would you mind if I uploaded it? Edit: Yup, will share a link ;)
Link shared! https://youtu.be/qRZ67KLvWnE
I also say I want a post-jam version in it ;)
Pretty fun concept! I feel like the levels could be a little more puzzle-like, often I felt like I was simply given two paths. Maybe a refill mechanic would help? You could have some extra strategy, with fake refills that won't help for example. Still a good game, good job! I recorded some gameplay of it, can I upload it? Edit: Will post a link, no worries :)
Here's the link: https://youtu.be/qRZ67KLvWnE :)
Super impressive entry! Nice lighting and models, and the physics are pretty darn believable ;) It's pretty hard swinging that tail around, which made the blue guys and the bombs secondary elements I didn't consider much... but it's pretty flawless otherwise! Great job! I'm planning on uploading a video and I recorded some gameplay of this, can I upload it?
Well, really impressive compo entry! Gameplay was fun, though I didn't get the point of hand fighting... and my team is pretty cowardly, but that's the plot. I freaked out at the beginning because it had a scary vibe going as well XD Otherwise, congrats! Only issue I'd have is that I couldn't explore as much as the map showed me.
Super nice graphics and models! I liked the elevator mechanic, game some life to the office :) I sometimes got stuck between some guys and sadly there's no way to accept seeing the picture of the dog :( Pretty funny game! Maybe adding some dimension to the movement mechanics would help the game, since jumping around isn't all that practical. Nice work though! Really impressive achievement! Recorded some gameplay, would you mind if I uploaded it? :) Edit: Will indeed link back!
Here's the link to the vid: https://youtu.be/qRZ67KLvWnE Tell me what you think :) (posting since I guess you'd like to see it)
Darn cool game! Nice graphics, super cool sound and fun gameplay! The game crashed on me but I felt like I would win so it's fine. I like the wire mechanic a lot, adds lotsa dimension to the game! The only issue is that I wasn't really running out of power... oh well, it's true there was some management to do. I'd love seeing a polished version with more content! Cheers!
@randomphantom what happens is that your house powers the whole city (for plot purposes) which makes it so that the city drains if not powered ^^ I know it doesn't make sense but it seemed like a fun idea :P
Really funny game! Your voice acting skills are legendary, I had a good laugh :D. I feel like steering was a bit slow for a running game, and maybe there could be a way to disperse the mob? Nice references too - sadly no, he doesn't look like Ryuk. Cheers! Recorded some gameplay, can I upload it?
Great mood, great graphics! The music is pretty fitting, though it isn't electro swing music ;) It's pretty satisfying, though I didn't feel encouraged to dash or play ranged a lot, and the shielded guys are a pain do deal with (is there an efficient way to kill them? maybe a hit or two could break the shield, but it doesn't seem like it was the case). A small issue I got is when killing enemies, they just popped into energy (which might make sense, but it'd be cool to have them explode or have their body fall down and stay there). You might've wanted to get it tested in order to get some gameplay feedback. Overall super cool game, impressive for a jam game! Great job! I recorded some gameplay, is it okay if I upload it?
Pretty funny game, especially considering how much of an utopia this is if I get killed for losing an election... I wanted dubstep as national anthem and video games to be a sport but it seems that prevented me from winning... the more you know :P Overall good, though a few options seemed to be more of a distraction: I couldn't fundraise properly so bribing and sabotaging weren't much help. Advertising did the trick though! Overall however, really neat game! Congrats!
Really funny game! I didn't see myself running out in any way, which made it pretty easy. Super nice music though! Unless I went full-on on coal, which wasn't that possible as I had enough money for better options, I couldn't really be punished for my choices. I recorded some gameplay as well, can I upload it? (I will link back to you ;)
So, apart from the sound that destroyed my ears on fullscreen, this game is really good! Nice concept and overall pretty challenging, especially when trying to master those ultimate movement techniques! Good job! I really wonder how hard this would be on 4K ;) Recorded some gameplay as well, can I upload it? (and link back to you of course ;)
Haha, scored 710,000! Beat ya @n-feofentov ! I realy like this game, the music is great, your graphics are good as well, plus the composition of the map really adds to the visuals! The gameplay itself is fun as well, I feel like I'm a bit of a slow ship but whatever ;) This could certainly evolve into a post - jam game with vertical movement as well, I'd like to see that! I recorded some gameplay as well ;) should I keep you informed?e
Overall nice graphics and music, I likes the enemy models, they fitted with the music super well! The shooting sound was a bit repetitive and the game lacked some difficulty that could be added with shooting enemies (especially those fat ones with a big mouth, first time I saw them I could only think: damn, here are the shooting enemies"), faster ones... Another problem is the movement that is quite slippery and slow for that type of game. I also would lose hp to dead monsters, and that sometimes without noticing. The biggest problem however is that I'm not running out of power - well, my spaceship does, but it doesn't mean that much in game, I don't have to try powering it up or anything. I see it's your first jam though - which gets you some cheers ;) I recorded some gameplay, can I upload it? I'd of course link back and keep you informed :)
Really fun! Great graphics and solid gameplay, though maybe a bit easy? The enemies only appear on the right, so I planted turrets there and plopped generators at the left, and it seemed my game would last forever, so maybe the AI could have a bit of diversity? Also, it doesn't feel much open world since there is only one place to defend... An other thing to consider is how we place the towers: why not use the cursor? The music feels a bit repetitive after a while, but I can't judge that yet ;) Overall solid entry! A few technical issues, but you did a good job! Also, pushing the enemies is really satisfying! Made my day! Looking forward to a post-jam version. Recorded some gameplay, can I upload it?
Update: vid will be live here: https://youtu.be/qRZ67KLvWnE Sorry it's kinda bad, as I explain in it there were lots of key factors to recording I missed...
Gameplay is easy to understand and quite fun, and the atmosphere is very well built! Apart from the fact that most AIs will freak out when reaching their objective (they seem to invert at every frame), there's no breaking the mood! Good job guys! Solid entry! Recorded some gameplay, is it okay if I upload it?
Pretty fun game! The mechanic is neat, though it took me some time to understand it. The plot struck me deep within ;) Collecting hats has never been such a thing before!
Nice game! Taking damage is a bit awkward because there's no knockback or shaking, and the combat isn't all that exciting but apart from that you've got a very solid entry! The graphics are enjoyable, and the mood is present! They're the best aspect of your entry in my opinion :)
Pretty tight gameplay, but overally satisfying, though there isn't a lot of variation. I liked the music the most. Since not much happened with the gifts (having a lot of them wouldn't impact gameplay), I don't think the theme is followed well, though it is mentioned in the side-story. Overall good, but I feel like your game lacks a few important elements.
Looks and feels really nice, though kinda short ;)
It's been a while since I played a game like this, your entry is pretty cute :) I found it low on synonyms, and it didn't quite follow the theme, but still solid :)
Didn't see much of the theme, and the boss A.I isn't all that convenient (it just flies to a corner, takes so much damage and lasts forever), but I really like the visual aspect of it, really charming!
Issues first: it's very hard to understand what does what in the game, even without the overlay madness, so even when I'd try concentrating on a level, I couldn't figure out what I should focus on. Still managed to play through it though that very first spike pit and its vines were hard to understand. Otherwise, the graphics, sound and mood are well worked on! :)
The gameplay is pretty repetitive and even though it does get harder over time, it's just frustrating to have such a slow character, and the black blobs don't represent much of a danger. The rest of the game, its visuals and sound, lighting and ambience are its biggest plus in my opinion. Very cute game, you've got my cheers!
Cute game! Squashed three bugs, fled from the rest, got to see some mummies. I got to a point where the levels would loop into each other (I played the same one multiple times in a row). The concept is fun, follows the theme and your visuals are cute, well done!
Interesting idea! I really likes the concept, but the game is really hard, so 3 loops is my maximum... but it's a real good interpretation of the theme, well done!
Super fun game! Quite hard to play, it's pretty unusual to die so easily at the start of a game, but it's very enjoyable! The graphics and music are spot-on, the gameplay is fun as well, good job!
Interesting idea, your entry is one of the rare ones that combines the need to pick up items and their negative impact in one, kudos for that! Cute pico-8 game, cheers!
There seems to be an issue with some people, let's see if I can fix it... sorry for the inconvenience!
Fixed it!
Spent most of the last hours making those maps out of my tears and blood, thanks :)
Very fun game man! Smooth gameplay, simple yet fun! I enjoyed it a lot, well done!
Pretty fun game! Wasn't too hard to understand, easy to play, and definitely gives the player some room to improve if they want to beat their score (got -2 on the first run). The art is cute though the pixel art style is inconsistent (some pixels are bigger than others, there's that one downscaled piece), not a flaw but not a plus either. Pretty interesting take on the theme, I really liked the concept! And you did great at keeping it clean and concise - congrats!
Pretty tough to play when you get stuck, constantly being grabbed by the dudes, especially since they can catch up in no time, but I still managed to get all the pizza! Wild and catchy graphics, original idea, good job!
I keep acquiring losses :/ Your game looks nice, but the camera is quite clunky, and the gameplay is somewhat puzzling and doesn't vary that much - and quite hard too. Still solid, but not that polished or theme-oriented.
Somewhat unsettling, but wow did I laugh! Great entry, flawless!
Neato! Nice idea, challenging game as well :)
A quite fun game, I appreciated playing it a lot, but didn't find much of the theme in it, because the aliens take a long time before arriving in numbers, but once you get there, wow :D
Haha, pretty funny concept, though there isn't a lot of challenge to it. The more the is, the worse it gets... FOR THE ENEMY! Pretty original :P
Cool game overall, it does get a bit repetitive over time with no noticeable difficulty increase. There is a solid concept that can be developed nonetheless.
woohoo, I'm free! Quite interesting concept and overall solid entry, congrats ;)
Overall pretty good game - lovely music, interesting gameplay. Not much else to say, the idea certainly has potential. Good job!
Congratulations on this first entry! Very nice concept, though quite hard to play through at first. (I played version 1 in order to give a fair rating). As you've pretty much added what was missing in version 2, I won't enumerate those again here. Cheers!
Quite solid entry! Simple mechanics, I saw where the theme fit in, and the game itself played smoothly. Congrats!
Fun game with tight controls, and cool graphics and sound. Good job!
Stunning work, cheers!
Impressive entry! Satisfying gameplay, fun music, I had a fun time playing it! Beware of the spelling errors though, as well as making sure sound effects don't stack too much, it got slightly annoying (but I sacrificed my audio unit :D) It was quite easy to pick the game up and get the mechanics as well, good job!
I didn't think I'd get so immersed in such a short game. I really liked the cozy touch and the strong emotional side to it. Sympa de voir d'autres francais ici; vous gérez! ;)
A take on the theme I hadn't thought of - pretty cool! There's an amazing feel behind the vehicle control (on keyboard), it made the shipping experience quite gratifying, not to mention I learned currency symbols haha. The music is a bit repetitive, which is fine except for the high-pitched instrument that is a bit intrusive. That's nitpick though. Overall, you've pushed a concept quite well! Congrats!
Awesome game! Nearly beat it without any upgrades, I'll have to give another shot at that tomorrow. The pits are particularly punishing, I have this bad habit of dashing into them you see... @anion-z , @nippaaah pressing "escape" skips dialogues for me. I do agree that it should be indicated in-game, as it really helps stay in the action. Took me a few times to understand that respawn costs were going up at each death. The music, sounds and feel to the game are spot-on! It doesn't get boring quickly, I can tell you that. Cheers!
I was quite close to completing the game when my computer battery ran out and had it shut down. Fun game! The music got somewhat repetitive over time, but honestly this is a well rounded clicker with a nice twist. Cheers!
I'm very impressed by this entry! Very pretty graphics, nice music, and fun gameplay - though I do wish keyboard controls were possible, as I wanted some tight seafights haha. Especially as your weapons have a certain range, getting close to bigger ships while maneuvering was a heck of a challenge. You've delivered some amazing quality though - cheers!
Really cool concept! Your graphics are as always amazing, and playing with my voice is a really fun experience! (My family may or may not disagree with that notion). Sounds are cool - I could wish for some music to play, though I can understand why there isn't any here. The calibration voices are really cute! As for growing intensity, I suppose a post-jam version would deal with that by adding a few challenges/new enemies or such. A solid entry overall, with a quite unique twist. Cheers!
@owlycode Thanks for the feedback - we were fairly concerned about that, I placed tip text that somewhat instructs as well as an extra sprite for when the upgrade machine is stepped on... but in the midst of action, that wasn't entirely fool-proof, I agree.
@puppetmaster Indeed, I (as the coder for room bounds) didn't want to bother making some funky trapezoid bounds, so the small rectangle is what fit best and helped with the time constraints - hence the greyed area. I suppose you all figured that out after a game or two, but for the past days I've been wondering when anyone would bring that up! haha :D If we ever remake this, I'll ditch weird bounds for sure ;) @anion-z For sure! I somewhat took a safe shot at balancing in order to make sure that the music and speech would be heard, but the best is always to let the player adjust. It's noted, thanks! @codekoto I'm glad you got that part of the narrative! As for room bounds, I answered that earlier in this comment - it's really just something born out of time restrictions :)
Feedback has been pretty awesome overall! It's a pretty big step-up from previous games, so I'm glad! (no one beat the dev highscore yet though, muahahahaha)
@hauo Indeed - we didn't explore the theme as a mechanic as much as we explored it <
@coleslaughter Agreed! The teleport is quite tricky, is somewhat emulates crystal's Throne Butt from Nuclear Throne but in the context of a packed arena, it's definitely tough to pull off. We were hesitating on implementing a dash, or teleport towards movement direction but those seemed even less easy to calculate, so we stuck to the cursor teleport. It is, as we found, one of the best tools for survival in late game, and definitely something we're considering properly in retrospect. Thanks for the awesome feedback!
Amazing stuff! Very funny concept, great graphics, tacky gameplay, cool music. I really like that touch with the old videos playing through her eyes. Cheers!
So, I played a bit, formed three full rows of upgraded towers, two rows of barriers, two rows of bombs, went afk and came back to a wave 55, no spawns game. I think I beat it! Edit: no, I just dies here. Makes more sense :D I always love some tower defense type games, this one had a nice polished feel to it. I could wish for hotkeys for placing towers, and maybe an upgrade menu that prioritizes the arrow button, but it was overall just a blast. Congrats!
Incredibly immersive game! The whole world and its concept, the mood, and music are quite the treat. And I didn't regret taking my time walking around, and I managed to seize the narrative fairly well as I played. To me, this simply has great potential post-jam. Congrats!
Taking hits from those pink enemies is somewhat bothering, especially as they can spawn on your face upon entering a room. Otherwise, gameplay, art and sound are quite enjoyable. Cheers!
Awesome stuff! Shooting robots feels so nice, and that made my day. Nice graphics as well - and really nice design too! The movement was somewhat drifty however, and the offset cursor made steering somewhat weird to me, which are a bit handicapping in this faster paced style of game. Besides that nitpick, huge congrats!
Pretty nice entry! I wasn't sure about how health worked at first, but quickly figured out how to heal poisoning/raise health. In the end, I was spamming ranged creatures and healing as fast as I could haha. Pretty fun! The graphics are amazing as well, congrats!
Enjoyable game - I particularly like the main mechanic, and the ways you've applied it in levels. Cute music as well; overall very solid, good job!
Fun concept! I wish the game was a bit easy on you at the start, and had more accessible upgrades. Very cool sound effects though! Cheers!
Pure fun in this entry! The camera was a little restrictive at times, but besides that nitpick I simply loved it. Cheers!
Haha, I also tried to climb that big wall! The contrast between the game's cuteness and deaths had me smile. The physics and movement are tricky to handle, but getting over it, the game itself is quite enjoyable. Cheers!
Stunning artwork! The gameplay itself has a solid core, though I do wish you could move while attacking - in general, speed itself somewhat lacks. The design choice behind the brain upgrade also had me wondering, as I couldn't feel much of a reward behind inverted controls, or many upgrades; and because they reset from stage to stage, choices overall seemed to lose some value, and I'm not sure how your own power scales up to enemies'. Game feel though! Those sound effects, and the feel behind hits is pretty darn sweet! That being said, congratulations on the entry!
@someday-not-today Haha, you're too modest! You guys have great potential here, just as every other participant. Ludum Dare is no place to feel you're wasting time! Quite the opposite, it's been my favorite event in life since I started - and anyone participating is awesome as well. Keep up the good work, cheers!
Awesome! I love the graphics, audio, and gameplay - though I'm really bad at pressing those keys, which makes my runs rather short. If it had been just WASD input, I might have stood a chance, but those two extra buttons mess with me. It also somewhat forces me to use my left hand, since the right is gonna be on the mouse from stage to stage. That's just nitpick though. Cheers!
Nice game overall! I particularly enjoyed the music and some graphics - wish some of those 3d ships rotated more often. Good going!
Wow, the returns so far are pretty encouraging! Regarding @derek-volker 's feedback: - Indeed, there have been some hiccups on accessibility. The sprinting mechanic (red gate area, I think) wasn't that well tuned, and originally we had a map that didn't even require it. I do wish as well that we could have extended the platforming sequence as well, to make better use of all that code haha. As well, boss health bar should have been an obvious thing to add >< - It is odd that you had sound issues. It is turned down a fair bit, but it was possible on our machines to get the volume high enough. As for sfx, the game does have some - but it doesn't play any if it might overload the machine's sound card, so maybe that's it? Thanks again, cheers!
@sigod thanks! Though, what's the issue with RAR? Since we're getting feedback from you, I assume you handled it?
Cool game, I enjoyed the mood of it mainly as it was pretty hard to figure out and pull off what was expected of me. Stuff like a longer timer, a way to carry multiple items would have well balanced out the time the player needs to experiment with the assets. Either way, solid entry - and great job on the polish for sure. Cheers!
Very cute game, I clicked it just for the appeal of getting to build a sand castle. A few nits to pick here however: the stun mechanic gets frustrating, especially as the player character is slow and the movement isn't too elaborate that you'd pin skill on dodging crabs. Made my play a bit slow and repetitive past the 50% mark. That aside, I've built my castle and I'm happy. Congrats, keep it up!
Fun entry overall, congratz! ;)
Interesting game, however it seems to be mostly an interactive concept. The main gameplay is quite linear and repetitive, and fairly prolonged by the reveal sequences. Game levels tend to innovate from level to level, whilst I found myself repeating the same process over and over. The music mostly kept me going though, it's really nice.
@argon Thanks! The cube can be used as a barrier/lure, as well as a weak AOE, would you cast it on an invalid spot. (Just edited the page to add that key:) F4 toggles fullscreen, I forgot to mention it when writing up the post ;)
@e-server Duly noted, accessibility is always something we could work on more. I would recommend you try learning the games you test a bit more: well, what can I say... first time I ever hear this, over years of keeping exit on esc press on. Past your first mishap with that key, it might be up to you to avoid further pressing it on accident. Maybe the rest of the kit could have helped you complete the game as well? Sticking to the punch can do the trick, but I believe later game requires you to adapt around the AOE and projectile based enemies. Thanks!
@joror Indeed! We always try to balance out our games to be a breeze for us to complete, so that testers have a decent challenge. Our better players might still want more, however, which is completely valid - this time around, we didn't really find ways to have the game adapt to the player, so to speak. Same goes for gameplay objectives - past writing up an intro here, and a bit of in-game feedback, we do get the player to multitask on the go - not the most elegant tutorial there is :P Cheers!
A fun little game! While the movement was a bit too floaty to my taste, and the gameplay quickly becomes repetitive, the core loop is short and fun enough to try and master, the art and music are nice as well, and the game's fairly well rounded overall. Congrats!
@volodya I laughed when I realized I left this there... it's a placeholder debug screen which we didn't even use in-dev haha. My apologies! It isn't canonical to the game ;)
Man, such an impressive entry. Shout out to Maytch! What can I say, other than good job! I killed the boss before getting the gun, so I couldn't ever use it. But that aside, the levels posed a good challenge, the mechanics were neat and the game even looks good! Congrats! This is admirable.
Well, I can tell you went for a "deep" thematic! Haha. Anyhow, here goes: What struck me the most in your entry was the game's mood. Minimalist graphics, a dark theme... good material! Writing a story up in an LD is from my experience very tough; you got to string the plot together in a game, with a nice "minigame" flavor in each scene; cheers to that! I can't say I enjoyed the plot itself too much: the few premises it has felt a bit entry-level. The illusion/reality twist in each chapter is pretty neat, but past the first time it became fairly predictable. The ending scene felt plain weird too. It's over the top, and along the story it feels like the main character's been given issues piled onto another to fit a stereotype role. Were the story longer, it would establish a more logical progression and you would likely do fine there. My impression entering the game was very nice! I believe you did well with your planning and direction - while I criticized the plot, I didn't fail to notice the good work you put into the game. Congrats!
I like the concept! I was able to purchase upgrades with negative dollars, which once I figured out allowed me to beat the game.
A fun one! Had me laughing over the few gags you put in there ;) Not much else to say - I think you nailed it :D
@3mpty Thanks! Good point about the jumps - that kinda sprite/hitbox ratio isn't very common. Had playtesters get used to it over 2-3 games so I let that one slide ;) (but yes - it's tough! I fail 50% of my rocket jumps, it's almost a reward system :P)
To anyone who wishes to compete over time: my current best is a 205 ;)
@dob Yes, the game has a proper ending. It can take a few attempts before succeeding though - I guess we can all rush through testing at times... If you do wish to get some attempts in (you make it seem like you only ever reached that area once), you can use your shooting to gain jump speed/momentum. Thank you for playing!
@python-b5 thanks! the levels generate off premade chunks, purely randomly selected. repitition was intended, as sections can be learned and optimized every playthrough ;) also semi-response for @pbg : yes!!! I wish the game could generate further than what I got to create in the compo ;)
Incredible entry. The gameplay may be very minimalistic, but looking at what you achieved under compo, I am amazed. Ambience, graphics, and game feel are all very sweet, and the game's accessible enough that even the worst "horror" players (me) can get to see it to the end. Definitely solid enough for more potential content, too! Reading such weird comments in here... I'm very glad that any jam or compo game would be easy, and I don't see how I can complain or recommend extra features - when either they aren't needed, or aren't there because of time :p We all did the same event right? Seems like some folks here got to use the time chamber during LD ;) Cheers!
Woohoo, victory! A very charming game with a fun concept. Controls are a bit of a bother, as it's hard to aim and know what tiles you'll hit - and lag would make the game stuttery on top of that (although whether it's my machine or the game, I can't say for sure. not like I'd count lag in my rating - no worries!) Cute art, enjoyable mood. I could definitely see how levels could have you strategize more around this core loop, were you to continue work on it. Well done!
Had a blast playing this. Figured most of the mechanics out over time, up to the mad scientist point of intentionally blowing up cores to unlock the heat sink. I'll have to come back for 100%! ;)
A well-rounded entry. The game's scope was well thought, as the boss difficulty/length was just enough (to my taste). Good graphics, same goes for the music. The game feel was interesting - it's definitely frustrating, and I'd win by kiting and spamming shots. Definitely complements the concept well :P Cheers!
Interesting entry. Playing as the heaviest pigeon known to this world I suppose. Had a nice time picking up branches and stealing bread, and bumping into walls. I guess entrances/open areas could benefit from a bit of visual signaling. Otherwise, solid entry. The world/atmosphere was more interesting than the gameplay, which I assumed was a vessel for all that anyway. Picking up sticks had me avoiding most humans playing normally though, so I made sure to go check out dialogs/other parts with no gameplay purpose of my own will. I guess "unstable" was a narrative theme, right? With a possible added spice of the bird surviving bombs, but drowning in the nearby river :P Cheers! ;)
epic game, on all aspects. congrats
Blown away! I would love - and I must insist there - to see this as a full release, with perhaps more content and story elements to explore. The visuals are awesome, the mood, the sound are great, and for a card game I'm in awe at the game feel. I couldn't quite tell how the whole time mechanic worked, and I sort of won by spamming new cards and trying every possible combination. I really like the experimental aspect to this, trying to deduce how and which cards to combine is a good time, but I went on a limb and randomly guessed a lot of the progression elements. Nonetheless, a very solid baseline. Cheers!
Short and sweet! While the platforming aspect feels a bit stiff, the game is still very fun to play: you have room to maneuver and dodge, there's a diverse cast of enemies, and combat is pretty nice. I couldn't tell how damage/ health points work, I assume your health regenerates? Either way, the game is fairly easy (a great choice IMO, as it helps us see everything you have to offer!) so however health works, it didn't seem unfair. Because I couldn't really tell how good the charge attack was I had my fun spamming the bow attack (whatever works ;) ). Very fond of your homebrew sound effects, art and game programming. There's potential here! Good work!
Congrats on the entry! It's very complete, with art, music, and a fully fledged game loop. I chuckled a few times at the ideas/ when I understood the pun in the title. The platforming aspect of the game is pretty basic, but your mechanics make up for that! Cheers!
A fun entry! Seems like my initial defense was enough to survive the first 5 minutes of gameplay however, and I wasn't ever forced to use shields. Perhaps difficulty ramps up too slowly ;) Game looks fantastic and has fun tower defense aspects, I love the idea of having towers orbit and rotate around. Good work!
Wowzers! To get the good, and the extra good out of the way: this game looks, sounds and feels amazing! Congrats! To nitpick, there were some unfair timing windows and gameplay elements here and there; as much as I loved the thematic aspect to the game timer, the final hour screen would also cause me to die whenever it interrupted a fight or jump I was in :/ In some cases it put me back into fights, which I found really interesting - perhaps that mechanic could willingly alter level layouts? Be it throw extra enemies at the player, or something. While level designs were real fun to traverse, fights didn't amount to much more than a few clicks per encounter, and most levels felt a bit empty - that's just due to jam limitations so I'm not accounting for any of those nitpicks in my rating - I am rather hopeful for future versions of this game, if you ever work on it in the future. ;) So yes! I played through the whole game and had a blast. I'll be visiting the post-jam version later too!
Quite the interesting concept! There's a lot I like about this entry, so let's dig in: for starters, the entire premise to the gameplay is nice. Having to navigate a level, scramble for powerups for extra chances at survival is real fun and I enjoyed it a fair bit. Congrats on experimenting with map types too! I feel like the concept can be taken further as well: as of the few games I played, the struggle became immediate at the 2 minutes mark. It becomes very difficult to navigate or even avoid the rocket without power ups, so when you deplete them it's essentially game over - which is intended! But because of the traps/debuffs laying around, you're also often locked out of half the map at all times. Were downgrades to despawn over time (maybe they do, but I couldn't see any of that), I'd be encouraged to strategize my routes way more. The rocket movement with its velocity mechanic, is really cool! You're encouraged to dodge close calls, to have the rocket drift aside entirely. Had my share of fun here, so: cheers!
Well, that can I say. Yeah, the game's a bit buggy or weird to control but it makes up tenfold because it is really cool! It's cute, funny, generally enjoyable. Not much more to say here, other than keep it up! Excellent work!
What can I say, this game feels complete. Fun, simple, works well, looks good and even has a bit of story elements. Goof stuff!
It starts out fun, with cool game feel. Then I had to click a lot and downloaded an auto clicker. That made the game fun again (and funny!). But it's not always very balanced in terms of drops, so end-game didn't really feel different. I lost my iron pick before even mining 6 more iron with it :/ Balance aside, a complete and cool game loop! Good work :^)
More importantly: your ratings are turned off :( If you ever turn them back on, reply to me so I know to come back and give you one! ;)
First game of LD52! Hurrah!
---I'm unable to complete this: I keep spending all my money and end up with a board state without any possible matches. Am I missing something?---
IMMEDIATE EDIT: watching the gifs, I realize what I missed. Oopsies!
Realizing the game allows diagonals, I won on a first try(hard). Whuzzah!
Immediately recognized the loop hero/ deceiver colors ;) Nice tune, surprisingly polished UI, good work!
Very nice! Visuals, music, gameplay are enjoyable, and it's quite polished too. Reaching endgame wasn't too hard and definitely felt like it had space for later content, so I believe the concept works well! Cheers!
A pleasant surprise! I got to do a cool trick save on level 3. The challenges really are well tuned here, enough to overturn the simplistic first impressions the visuals and sound gave me. Hats off ;)
@lex there is, although it's fairly tough ;) @profundity very fair! visual communication like this is a new and interesting challenge for me :)
@vasco-freitas thanks! whatever works, eh? ;) @vinzbad cheers! That's not a bad idea. I opted on passive healing for this, but never really conveyed it. Ideally, the game would not even have that, but it seemed unfair to share something too difficult for LD :)
@ffrusik thanks! that's a really good observation, it might come useful for me later :)
@cat-chef Thanks! Because there's no real way to figure it out: enemies will spawn off your current score, as well as your streak. It's also very inconsistent, because I settled for the "it works enough" approach ;)
@kikiriki367 I can't compile any web versions with my current codebase. Sorry :') Developers on windows tend to have .NET installed sooner or later.
It's very soothing, and fun to try and pull off simultaneous actions. Good work!
Cute! The minesweeper/campaign mix is a fun idea. You can brute-force the level solutions, especially since they don't seem to randomize. It's still fun to figure things out though, even when it's just easier to stop thinking. +1 for funny bee noise ;)
And that's a wrap! Won with 5200$ on day 17. Great job, I found myself engaged on a planting puzzle game. That's rare! ;)
1117!!! My favorite entry so far. Considering how basic it all is, the formula works pretty well. Found myself balancing enemy distracting, dodging and harvesting. And it's pretty tricky, even when you understand it! I could definitely improve my score with skill and strategy, too. Excellent work!
Victory! Very cool game. Good efforts on the cinematic elements too :)
"Are we sure we're the advanced ones here? With how well our ship controls?" Nuh-uh. Not playing that monolith level... so great thanks for the skip option! Overall a really fun game, I like the idea and the existentialist humor in there. I had a fun time with most levels, while others (understandable in a jam setting) were just too difficult to complete in a casual setting. I don't really think that matters though, because the good impressions were very convincing. Cheers! It's really fun seeing all the diversity the game offers: getting missiles from advanced planets, having a sister planet shield you... thumbs up!!! There's honestly potential for a post-jam release (in a world where the ship controls a bit better, or you rebrand as a rage game :p)
It's a party in my inventory! :D And I can... click myself! Heheheh. A short and sweet adventure. Because I know nothing about coding for the GB, I'm very impressed! Cheers!
I won! :D Ignoring the little bugs, it's a fun time. Good work :)
I'm very happy to see you participate in LD! Thank you for giving me Bob :)
The most original entry I've seen so far. I'm impressed! That certain level was genuinely stressful, even without any sound... and the storytelling is well contained too. Always love seeing a "simple" implementation work out. Congrats! (also did go for the secret ending ;) ).
Cute entry. I like the funny idea and implementation :) Some of the better music I've heard so far too.
Wow, very cool! Starting the game, I got guns stuck inside my hull and self-destroyed by shooting. The other times went a bit better, with the occasional spawns happening behind you or outgunning you at the very start. The unresponsive movement means there's no way out when that happens :) Were there a bit more action and ease of use for building, I could've been hooked. Looking at this as a compo game, it's a technical feat. Great work!
Huhh??? Just fantastic, on every aspect. Hats off!
Going into the game I got this ominous feeling from the dialogue and all... the game over screen didn't help! :p Cool idea, solid execution, all around real nice! Great job!
@firebelley Wait a moment... I watch your videos! This wasn't made with godot but I'm learning it for future 3d endeavors. Thanks a lot!
@moebiusmeow Thank you!!! I'm definitely adding an extra failsafe to the post-jam version, the current one "spawn 15 goo minimum across the map" still means unlucky players will be there a while :')
@jamieok That is the case! But a matter of exploration (and time) (lots of time...) which I'm seeking to improve now :) Thanks!
@batisdark all great feedback! thanks a lot!
Super cute, love the music and art! Movement doesn't feel nice. I made some efforts to master it over a few games but it isn't engaging to me :) Very impressive levels of polish!
My oh my... an acoustic treat! :D This throws me way back too, to Nitrome's "Hot Air" games. Good work! You really nailed the controls on this!
Victory! The controls and game feel do end up clicking nicely, although my preferred method was to short-jump and spam attacks. It's a good piece of fun, one which I'd probably enjoy more at a higher difficulty - but definitely respectable to have an easier entry for Ludum Dare. Those are spine animations too, right? Very solid, congrats!
Sooo sooo cool!!! Just HOW can a game flow so well? Lovely work! And the music is a treat, too! I love how the game creates itself a story just through moving past connected levels. Well done!
Loved those 15 levels! Congrats on such a well-rounded compo entry, this is super-duper impressive work!!!
Okay. this is seriously cool!!! Digging the mouth noise sfx ;) Honestly, just thoroughly impressed with this. Really original, great work!
The itch game doesn't seem to be up... will revisit if I hear back from you! It still plays on this page, although the score numbers from the screenshots don't show :) Congratulations on the entry!
Sooo cool!! Well done!
scores.png
Brilliant entry! I had a blast with this. Need I say more? ;)
Fun entry! It's pretty hard to time mid-air placements because of your range (I think?) I couldn't get all levels perfect but it was fun to try, even when the collisions tried to stop me :P Very cute art, and a good touch with the tutorial. Good job!
Love me a cube game! The kind of project that has me wanting more... Played long enough to push the cube off the map as you suggested. I think the only hurdle is figuring out how energy works - because there were no numbers I first assumed anything connected to a generator would be "powered". It also made differentiating panels and generators harder in terms of output. But man! So cool! Good work!
Cool entry! Great job getting this out on this polish level. Playing through it once made me think I missed some details, which makes the experience more profound, I think. I feel like the writing says out loud what the game already implies really well on its own. And I had no clue why I had a zoom and a sprint meter. The zoom sort of let me see the ceiling detail? Either way, good stuff. Cheers!
Short and sweet! Love me a good walking sim. I like the feel of the movement, and the ship color changing with its speed. Thanks for sharing!
Great work! "Why isn't the big red button, you know... red?" Very solid entry, I'm not a huge fan of the visual choice of keeping a single tone, and ended up muting the game because over three levels the game music got really repetitive (is the title screen track longer? I love it, it's so good!) The gameplay is brilliant, especially for jam scope. Very impressive to see great character movement, vehicle building, and all of that without jank. Just wow! Cheers!
Favorite entry so far? Favorite entry so far. Sooo fun all around!!!! Loved the final level, by the time I could beat it I could speed through 2/3rds of it :D Lemme punch the bullets!!! :D
Very glad I had EVADE RING and SWORD on my quest... ;P The game itself I found charming. Good work!
Shout out to the comments for explaining the controls :) Softlocked myself and couldn't press R by having the player eat up a control just as they leave a tile. Third time was the charm and I got to play through the game. It's fun! I've seen puzzles like these before and I like the idea, always worth exploring. Congrats on the visual and audio side, they really bring the game together :) Overall impressive work!
First launch of the game caused the audio to glitch... but it fixed itself on the 2nd launch. It broke again so I had to mute the game, which was preferable cause that low health sound is permanent as soon as the game derails. Oh well, on to the good stuff! I must have played a dozen games and had a great time! Super polished entry, really cool music (when I got to hear it ;)). Difficult, but I also never ever play RTS games, even though I dig this stuff. Cheers!
@spaceylake All good! Definitely not counting that for a grade. Played a bit more after commenting. Good potential I think!
Nutty graphics! The ghost movement is also pretty nice. Very enjoyable entry, congrats!
Adorable!!! All-round awesome! The ska level might have been a missed opportunity to have a ska track... but I won't complain! :D Is that THE jummbus on the team???
Already, I like the premise. I think it's funny! And well, the game in general has a real fun tone to it, I appreciate the attention put there. Congrats on your first game!
Solid entry! Very impressive going by your description, too! I like the cozy feel the game has, it's reminiscent of classic web/mobile puzzle games. Cheers!
Just two levels to go! I really like this, what a nice idea! Hoping I get a spark soon :D
Pretty incredible execution! Played a bunch of games and I haven't gotten near some of the scores I see here T_T
Lovely work; this was for sure one emotional rollercoaster. I cried at the end! ( ;) ) Was fun messing with you as I played. Cheers!
Scored a nice little 850! But I could do better! :D
@endurion you might be missing a mechanic! That's alright though, game *is* confusing. If you do want to continue (6 is pretty early in the game), here is a clue: you can walk into the item slot at times/ placing the gem-like item has a special effect. Cheers!
@stevenjmiller WOAH!!! That's impressively far! And yes-that is already in the works, and more!
Boy, I really should have taken the time to add that feature haha ^^ It'll be in the game for sure! I'm working on more than *just* a feature update, though ;)
@dingbat Good job figuring that out!
@majomirez Yeah, "intentionally" confusing! I definitely don't want it to be an excuse for missing features though. But you get it, the fun comes from the journey!
@viktorthegreat so close!!! Sorry to hear that, there's definitely some QoL that was missing. As for level 6, (the bane of all players), I'm glad it got brought up! Will be approaching that mechanic a bit better in the future :)
@stevenjmiller @majomirez @viktorthegreat @orangeoceans @xry @carlos-murillo
For your enjoyment: I have uploaded a version with a checkpoint feature. This should also ease the pains of any future player. Thank you so much for the kind words! I was so uncertain about my entry, you were all very uplifting :)
@logan-core no way, we have a finisher!!! that's awesome!!!
@wad sorry, no, absolutely not! :)
@christian-zommerfelds Hahaha, good luck! I believe the game is fair with the clues it gives! You have to trust the design and make your own guesses ;)
@mz-eth Why, thanks!
@sentmoraap genuinely interesting feedback, thank you very much!
Quite amazing! I feel like the idea has a lot of potential. You got to hear my thoughts on the entry already ;) Cheers!
Ah yes, my chance to behave like a perfectly normal human being... Lovely entry! The graphics really elevate the experience, and there's some good humor behind the prompts you get. Good work!
Short and sweet! Real enjoyable premise, I liked it!
Cool stuff! I believe I reached level 4 or 5... it seemed as if the game looped, although maybe not. At any rate I liked that sort of "minesweeper in the dark" vibe I was getting. My ears are pretty bad at guessing how it was all panned, but nothing really felt unfair. Good work!
Good work! Once past the learning phase, it's a fun experience! I appreciate the way the levels were made, very thoughtful!
Nice entry, good work!
I liked this! Definitely a chill, well rounded casual experience for me. With crazy cool graphics and music. Perhaps too easy? Not something I'd penalize for a ludum dare entry, or perhaps I got lucky. But there is good puzzle potential! Cheers!
Numero uno campeon del mundo here... need I say more :p
Good work! A solid challenge, with good visuals and tunes to accompany. I'm not the greatest as these games but with some help it worked out ;)
I wonder if I'm dealing with French people here... Good work! I'm a fan of space trucking, and this was a pleasant experience. I'd say, pretty casual but that's all fine by me ;)
Suuuper solid! You already know I liked this one! The music's charming, graphics are nice and it's a generally polished game. Huge props!
Yup, this one's good! Hoping I can score a bit better in the future. Gameplay, music, visuals are on-point. Congrats!
Nice engaging entry! Crushing the enemy felt great. Getting crushed... less so :p Good work! :)
Beautiful game. Very well done!
Real nice entry! I really don't have many nits to pick, had a good time trying to beat my score. You'll laugh, but so far it's round 6 :^)
Short and sweet! Congrats on your entry. I'm impressed by all the content and effort you managed to put in it :)
Scored a 2:02!
Back for my review: great work all around! Feels great to play and the tunes are on point. I had trouble telling the difference with the hook upgrade, but that's fine. The core game is more than enough! :^)
This entry had me pressing "V" at times to rock and stone... I agree with the previous comments' suggestions, as I too found myself guessing what to bring/losing my items a bunch. But the game's real fun! I Especially enjoy the diversity in items and emphasis put on the effects, they're great!
Woah, this one's tough! I couldn't beat it but I really liked how movement felt. Getting the controls just right was really cool. For me, health would just go down so quickly... :') Overall solid, with good visuals and music too. Good work!
Fun game! I wasn't good enough to win, and I do think some of the hitboxes were unfairly big but no matter. The core concept is good! + HUGE props for that intro cutscene! I liked it :)
Very impressive entry! I enjoy the different aspects to handing enemies and maintaining the fighting space. Good job!
Man, I recognized your team from the start screen alone! I really liked last jam's entry, too :)
I like this one too! A very tidy assortment of visuals, music and game :) Congrats!
Neat entry! Well made, congrats! Went for a few runs, got a top score of 3600! :D
Dare I say... finally! A rpg maker game! Is there a possible way to influence the story, or was that planned for the full game? I was hoping I'd find something ^^ The story itself is pretty compelling, good job! Congrats on your first ludum dare!
Thank you for the insight! Wishing you good luck with your future endeavors!
Really good entry! I got to beat all ten levels too! Because you can't always guess where the rat might move, there's a bit of guessing and trial and error to gameplay. Which wasn't too bad, but I did complete a few levels by luck. Still had fun playing this, and really liked the music and graphics. (Cute!!!)
What a nice entry! I wish there were more!
Oh boy, I forgot my high score. I think it's 2918? At any rate, good work! I was not able to break the game by spamming (haha). It does feel like it takes some luck to get a good score, but it's fine that way too.
The square... the square is so pretty... and it makes such nice sounds... Lovely, lovely entry! I'm a fan!
Man, I liked this one! The movement feels really nice and the audio + video side are also well worked on. I had this bug on browser that ate my jumps when I entered levels at times. I'll be trying the desktop version though, and see if I can't beat the game! Cheers!
Update: beat the desktop version in 9:14!!! :D Cheers!
Solid entry, and congrats on your first! Very very nice work! If you do continue development, I'll have an eye on this! Personal request: please consider graphics that blend together less. I believe the piece colors made it hard to tell ground/different pieces apart. Otherwise, looking forward to more levels! The ones I saw showed good potential. Cheers!
Sweet game! Somewhat easy, but the step counter is a good way of adding some challenge. Overall well made, I liked it! Cheers :)
Love me some riddles! Very polished entry, with QOL features too??? I appreciate it :D I personally didn't find this difficult at all, everything clicked rather quickly... and I hadn't read any tips or comments :p One of the pages didn't translate, so I brute forced the final poem with 3/4 clues, no biggie. Cute story as well, lovely artworks. All in all, great job!
Hi! This brings back a lot of memories, as I played a clone of Tower of the Sorcerer as a kid. Never realized there were other games in that style, it was one of my favorites back then!!! I was confused at first since you can just level up without meeting XP requirements. I also entered the main level with 26 eyes because I leveled up in the tutorial... but playing the game legit, I got a score of 22 levels and *might* have seen all floors? Seriously cool entry, I was captivated! Hoping to see more!!! (Especially since some of the movement puzzles with the slime, etc would make for some hardcore levels - bring it on!!! :D )
I mean... 5/5 all-star entry.
I enjoyed the mystery! I'm very slow to figure these sorts of games out but I really do like them - still, thanks for the tips ;) A fun puzzle accompanied by good graphics; I liked the themes behind all the ingredients and summons. And what a glorious way to end it all :D
@ilari my oh my I forgot to note the controls... it's space bar! sorry!!! on the least intuitive scheme I ever coded too ahahaha... T_T
@ilari thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to do so! <3
@ellaris Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! Things to consider as I tinker with the game in the coming weeks :)
Seems like I wasn't the first to level up to the stratosphere :D Exceptional visuals and vibes. I love these!!!
Well, I only suffered one loss and 19 saves in my best run! A fun entry, pretty tricky and interesting to try mastering. The voice sounds were funny too. Cheers!
I'm pretty much always looking forward to your entries! I like how you combined puzzle elements with the free-flowing, timing based type of movement you get when you nail levels down! Thanks and keep it up! ;)
You really don't miss! 27 minute clear, I had a slow start. Loved it! Keep em coming <3
Some nice ideas on display here! Great, cute art! Lovely music! The game itself feels good and displays some nice mechanics. I personally found the game too easy to enjoy some of what it had to offer, as I won on the first try after accidentally selling off a bunch of dice... how terrible my woes! :P Great work, congrats!
Victory! Managed to max out my summoner count too! A fun little game, good job!
Nice and fun! I especially liked the effort you put into the story and sounds. Game was tough but not too much, I don't think I restarted levels more than ~10 times perhaps. Good job!
Was a good time! Fun little puzzles, I'd be intrigued to see how far you could push the concept outside of jam constraints too. Hats off to the tunes!!!
A pretty fun play! 2nd place right now, might compete for it in the coming days :^)
Many things to like here! Game looks great, feels great, sounds great! The main mechanic is interesting enough, along with figuring out how dice work and how best to use them. I reached 6/6 on my second attempt and *might* try going further some other time? Because the best combo, Balut! is reachable as early as round 2 or such, it'd be interesting to see what this game could offer were it designed for later play, or with different challenges in mind. I really liked this, overall! @tyrannas the pin slots work, but you have to unpin a dice to use the new ones... I assume it's a glitch ;) ps- my poor eyes seem to have issues looking at rbg, vhs, etc effects, so that unfortunately stops me from prolonged play. but that doesn't affect my rating ;)
@koro-games That's just too nice!!! Thank you!!! I love mysteries and puzzles in general so I suppose this depends from person to person... ;)
That one is a good time! Pretty, cute, smooth... nothing like my drawings which looked like a toddler's :P But the clients seemed happy nonetheless... good work!
I maybe like this game, perhaps. Anyhow, 5th place as I type this :D
Pretty original! Very reminiscent of my younger years of roleplaying :p Where any excuse to win goes - except this time you're the victim of the rule ^^ Good job!
Really fun game all around! Good art, funny, great sound, awesome challenge too... hats off!!!!!!
Since you saw me play you have some idea - all around banger entry. I liked the jokes, liked the puzzles (although a bit light maybe) and the platforming also has value to it. Good work!
Wow, just wow! Very impressive compo entry!
A very touching game, I found the endings to be beautifully written. Also loved all the writing and cool art, and genuinely found the menial minigame fun to play! Congrats!!!
This looks awesome!!! You have a really nice touch! I had a nice time playing, you've laid a solid foundation with this. Cheers!
Reached round 40. Did I like the game? A little... :p Awesome job!
For fun, decided to play without picking iron maiden or iron summon buffs... reached wave 28 with a total of 500 hp/armor, and it could have gone for a while again ^^
A fun mix of rhythm and drawing game! Looks good, sounds good, plays good. I like it! My highscore is wave 11, 84 combo :)
Second try!!! :D That was hectic! Pretty fun overall! Great job on the visuals too, made swarming the enemy all the more enjoyable.
This is seriously cool! I forgot my highscore but I WILL come back for one! Timing the start of a bar isn't super easy, it's very hard to focus on the game field... in other words, a challenge! :D (I have to beat the giant wave I will report back when I do)
Update: scored a 57! Then a 61!
Oh haha, I gave you the benefit of doubt there! :p
"THIS ISN'T JAPAN!!!" :D I really like the concept! Spent an hour trying to turn the tides back in my favor... which would have worked, but I had to move on. The initial impressions I had were wonderful, with little stories building themselves and placing me as a spectator with limited influence. Good stuff!!!
I really like the idea here, exploring resonance is also fun in its own right - must have spent half an hour or so, so far? My top score is only level 4, and I got around 280 points once... that's what I get for skipping word day :p
Simply awesome!
Well, you saw me play so you have some idea of my thoughts ;) - Very nice entry, pretty, plays well and feels good. I appreciate the emergent challenge too :p
I liked this! It's nice that you can have puzzles that feel both physics, timing and logic reliant ;) The little phrase, "too much bug loss" is a good pun as well. I have nothing bug compliments to give!
Crazy how complete this feels! Not much hasn't been said already, haha. Cheers!
Well, this is... amazing! After a few games, the rules really clicked and it's just crazy how varied the strategies I've seen were, so far! I'm at awe with how far the polish was pushed too, with each unique effect being essentially complete... good job!!!
@defrag they are a team/collective, and formed two different teams for LD - although pentadrangle was on both!
Overall sweet game! Reminds me of the good ol' rust bucket days <3
Short and sweet! BEAUTIFUL art, I'm amazed!!! I'm glad I didn't get stuck on the gate puzzle, haha :p
Very enjoyable entry! It's just nice to see them hop around :)
Woah!!!! I'll settle for nine rounds on my first try. Very, very good! I enjoyed the unique approach to managing friendlies, cursor combat, and the incremental upgrades felt very good to earn. Well done!
@yoav-kagan Thank you! There are some tough parts haha, no worries ;)
@arscene Thanks! Unfortunately not, you can only drop them in this version, and hope you get better ones...
@pietmichal Thanks! I do agree ;)
@henk Absolutely, haha! That wouldn't have taken me long either... but for some reason, I decided to skip it... well, I'll catch up on that with the post-jam version I'm working on!
@sphinx Thanks! I do agree, it hit me after the compo that it would have made a lot more sense... :p
Good work! Incredibly polished at that. The same strategy worked against all enemies for me, but I see how this game could break that given more time. I liked this, congrats!
Cool! This feels complete all around. Good art, music, and the whole game loop with minigames and progression... that's impressive!
Wow! That was good! I had a relaxing time solving puzzles, with good art and music for company ;) The final code ended up being solved accidentally - I was midway through trying to crack it, or so I thought, and I just happened to have everything lined up :) The ending reminded me of Fairy Song's, I enjoyed that extra touch! Cheers!
Whoa, this was very cool! All the little gnome drawings are simply adorable! Great job!
Yet another Cassowary classic! Always glad I get to play your entries, this time around I had less trouble than usual, but just as much fun! The last level was pretty interesting too. Loved the music once again! Cheers!
Oh, alright, short! But the levels showed a fair bit of nice ideas, and the game felt really fun to play! Great sound choices too, good work!
Yup... I think you've outdone yourself with this one ;)
Simple and fun... I liked it! I don't think I ever saw this exact type of controls before, either. Messing around with the velocity of the little creatures adds a nice touch ;)
That's really good! The presentation is really nice, I'm a sucker for the combo of packets, dark room and overall art direction for the environment ;) Not too sure if I can say much about gameplay though - I can see how it might get interesting, in a management or puzzle situation, but hey, combining is always fun on its own. Good job!
Hi! Downloading the .exe says I am missing the .pck file... Loved this! Although the game is very easy, it feels so complete, plays nice and is very pretty - so if you ever felt like doing more with this, I'd definitely stick around! Congrats!
Oh, good to see you made it!
Ooooh they dancin'! Very fun game, I enjoyed all it had to offer ;)
I'm very impressed by the scale of this entry! Exploring these puzzle/management mechanics was a good time - there's good potential there, methinks ;)
I found this fantastic! From the form, the fun puzzle solving process, and little details put in the environment... great great work!
All around well made! I really like the drawings ^^ And the puzzles themselves are fun, almost relaxing, like sliding puzzles at times. Cheers!
Ended up playing this for a while - I didn't max everything out like others, but it was nice! Takes a while to build up, and I only ever failed once because I didn't prioritize the first weapon upgrade. It's got a slower, incremental pace rather, but I won't complain! Cute graphics, cool music (selection?) too. Good job!
A clicker game, hooray! This is simply adorable, I loved everything about the presentation of the game! Got my army of mice on the moon, but with those numbers I doubt it lasts very long... ;) Great job!
Honestly, the tiny hamster travel animation alone elevates this game. Otherwise, it's a nice take on incremental games. Good work!
Not easy, not easy! But the game as a whole works pretty well - I had one of them fly above the mountain peak in one of my runs, haha
Played this to the end! A very simple game, yet I had fun managing my supplies and carefully exploring the world... good job!
@henk Perhaps that helps, I did have some occasional flicker with the tiles, it might be that their draw positions round badly because of how the camera translates - occasionally, gaps will form between them because of imprecision (well, this is at least what used to happen to me in games, and even to this day.) Although if it doesn't happen on your machine, it's tough to fix.
@henk yes, just launched the web game to see it again. it's minor, although I get a glimpse of it every few seconds of movement. windows/chrome/intel core i5 11 iris graphics.
fixed for me! ;)
Very nice! I'm a big fan of the movement system, animations and death sound :) I'm unfortunately stuck! I'm not sure if I'm able to descend to the yellow ores, or if I need upgrades... two fall distance upgrades didn't do it, and trying to grab the ledge with the spikes only kills me :( Would 100% return to this if I get a clue! Cheers!
Had me going "WOW" out loud a few times! Found the little bird, too :) I think you did it again! This is just awesome!
Woohoo! Victory in 7 coins! Lovely ship designs, very difficult (if you're trying to dodge the bullets) game! Good job!
Very cool and pretty! Beats my attempts at making flower games :)
I absolutely love the writeup on your page, brilliant! And relatable, too. Gave this quite a few attempts, but I wasn't able to win :( - My mouse sensitivity was really low, regardless of tweaks I could make on my end, so that didn't help. Definitely a luxury to have in a jam, though. At any rate, I got to play enough to experience a fun game loop! The swinging and movement feel fun to retry over and over. If there was a cue for your gun's range, I missed it - most of my falls were caused by not knowing what I could hook. Oh well! A solid entry for sure, congrats!
@psychomonster Thanks! (And thanks to the others, too!) Any tile you mine has a chance to drop a rock - a bit of an unclear mechanic, unfortunately :')
@boboneoone there's no way to get stuck! you can mine and grapple out of any situation :)
@lepol no tutorial, nothing to do in the game - you are free! :) otherwise yes, the tracks crossfade horribly. I couldn't spare time for that...
@r8teful Thank you! It's Monogame: https://monogame.net/ This makes me realize I forgot to list my tools... will do so later!
@chuckiee there is!
@ugly-robot Thanks! I can give you a little rundown for sure -
For pixel art, I use Aseprite. I don't really have anything spectacular to note here, I just use a style that's convenient and quick to draw with. Music is made within Ableton, this time using Synth1, my guitar and some drum machine samples; here too, I'm used to a process that's pretty quick and simple. World generation is a thing I play with a lot in and outside of jams; this technique consists in creating sample "rooms" (you probably noticed those repeating in places, if not, fantastic for me!) who all attempt to generate one after the other by connecting via "doors". The game tries to pack as many as possible together at all times in the background - if you somehow clip through the ground, you can end up moving faster than world generation and you'll see it operate. I spent a big portion of the first day coding in an infinite chunk system and that generation method.
I'll gladly answer any other questions; cheers!
@ugly-robot Yeah, spelunky does do something similar! I believe its system places room parts in a grid, instead. Per "biome", I had ~12 rooms, the starting one had 15. To my eyes that was sort of a bare minimum though. And I think the sell would wear out faster if players *had* to focus on individual rooms (say, were there traps or precision platforming or really recognizable landmarks). The tileset ended up surprisingly small this time around - if you have Tiled, you can actually go check it out in the game files, that plus the map containing all the rooms. Not too sure what content-gen shortcuts might be; the only real "shortcut" I have is my code library, but it doesn't go beyond base classes and helpers, all things that engines feature by default ;)
@ugly-robot Oh yeah for sure, I was super lucky to learn about sfxr a while back and I use it all the time, such as here. A fun thing you can do is "mutate" a sound a few times, download each mutation that sounds right and use them at random to have cheap variation, so that repeating sounds like shooting sound more organic.
Wow, congrats on the entry! Impressively polished and pretty engaging idea - great art, music, and for some reason your UI is sooo clean??? - could totally become a full game! I won by spamming o2 tanks and salvaging them, but I *was* on easy mode out of caution :p Cheers!
Great work! Felt smooth and fun to play through this one, and I enjoyed the growing challenge. I had to stop 300 meters before the end, too much for me :p Loved it though! Cheers!
Beat it! As usual, this was a fun entry to play! Tricky puzzles, nice tunes, cute art. Great job!
Oh snap, I remember seeing art for this yesterday! Beautiful game, and the physics system is really engaging! The answer is pretty straightforward, and this game could probably benefit from additional levels or environmental challenge - potential for a future version maybe? Excellently done!
10/10 - no notes. One note, I got stuck in the ground of chinatown :p I love poop jokes, swearing and rats smoking giant blunts - thank you for making this game! <3
So cool. So so cool!!! It's just crazy what you can do in just 72 hours, wow!!!
I wanted to play more, but after ten or so runs it just stopped following my mouse, going straight down... I tried restarting the game and all, nothing worked :( What I *did* get to play was cool, though! Good work!
@jvdwijk No, I had it downloaded. I guess I didn't try playing on web, but loading times are just super long (my internet has been really bad lately) - sorry for missing the keyboard input! Maybe it cancels the mouse, and that's what ended up happening? No worries though, I got to play enough to give a fair rating ;)
Had to rewire my brain to use the isometric controls :) Game plays pretty well once you do that, though. I like the character art. Congrats on the entry!
Nice entry, pretty fun and challenging! I enjoy the graphics, they're cohesive and paint a nice underwater scene :)
Ah man! Still only reached wave three, although a few times now - crashed into a bomber right off-screen :( This is really fun though! I love the concept of layers used here, and the upgrade system actually makes a good difference! Great job!
@polymathld Honestly, this is the sort of curve I prefer for jam games, it's a bit awkward when you have to spend 30 minutes or more per run in order to give a fair rating afterwards :) So I think you're fine!
Mining! Yayy! Yayyyy!!! Good work on the game loop, the laser and upgrade action is really neat! The game's pretty relaxing, even with the o2 meter, which is lucky for me since the last game I played was stressful :p The ascension mechanic is a fun idea as well, and I like the way items float downwards when mined. It didn't take me too long to beat the game, and I had fun doing so. Good work!
41 METERS!!!!! Gimme a leaderboard, now!!! :P Hope this suffices to say I enjoyed your game; cheers :)
Finally, a game where crying works! Once again, fantastic cute entry with great art and music! And the take on the theme is pretty smart too! (waahhhhh!)
Honestly, I'll say the clippy ending is the official one. Thanks grandma! I spent way too much time trying to enter grandma's name... because I didn't realize it'd be her full name! It's been a rough morning here... :p Cheers!
Fun and challenging! Good job making the circular movement work in a compo game! I got to level 5, but that's where I wish there were a download version, because lag was too much to work with :) Good job!
Very strong vibes here! It's a beautiful adventure, with great art and music to accompany it :) I love the character design, it's adorable!
Wow, bosca ceoil for the music is crazy... crazy cool, that is! Good art, control scheme is fun too. Some of the sound effects were way too loud, compared to the music. Didn't seem like there were more treasure deeper below, so I was farming in the surface in the end. Got the oxygen low warning text and it never went away- no big deal though. Had a few cool moments where I just barely scraped between barrels :D I played a few runs (okay, maybe over an hour) to see how far I could get... 30 000m, way deeper than the Mariana Trench! Had fun - good job!
How fun! I played a diving game a few days ago that had me going past the Mariana trench :) This is really well made, and I appreciate the attempt at realism. I don't see educational entries that often at all, props! The marine life sprites are adorable, too. Aaaand... there sure was an ending! All in all good work! (I had music playing in the background, and one of the tracks synced exactly with the sonar pings... :D )
Very pretty entry! Too bad some of the cards weren't implemented, they had very intriguing effects... still, congrats for getting the game out! <3
What a fun game loop! I love how satisfying the mining sounds are, and it's so good to have upgrades really make a difference like this :D My first run had me reaching day 6 (and failing), and since I tried going to lower depths to beat that - but I keep dying or missing the clock, haha! It's tough! At any rate, this is a complete package, very well done!
Wow, really cool! Lovely art, and the gameplay really ticks my boxes! Love how versatile the player magic is, and it's so nice that units get to level up with time! Managed to reach level 24 on my first run by turning myself into a walking orbital strike :D Seriously really nice!!!
Cool and original idea! Pretty tough game too :p
Really funny premise! I love how you just keep losing wheels as you get hit. The progression mechanics are fun, too! Great work here!
Potato. Cute references in there. My library looks awfully similar...
@maytch Long time, and thanks! Glad to see you around here :) There's no 100% requirement to beat the game, empty slots just make the final fight a bit harder ;)
@pe4q07 Thanks a bunch! I saw your itch review as well, these are all things I'll take into consideration as I work on the post-jam version :)
@orangeoceans Thanks! I wonder too, for jams I prefer making games easier so that most people get to see the boss or the end. I have a few plans for a post-jam version which involve weapon synergies, and a better focus on the resource management aspect of the game. I'll see what else sticks!
@ismael-rodriguez all intended! and everything you're bringing up is 100% valid - I just ran out of time ;)
Very well made! I love the art on the bonus cards. You have a really nice streak of idle games, I've been enjoying it!
Super cool entry! I managed to collect them all without much issue :) Procedural gen is very nice to see in a jam, it worked well here too!
Probably my favorite entry of yours in a while! Really cute and original concept!
Really appealing game! Love the atmosphere here. The gameplay loop, as simple as it is, also feels really nice! Figuring out how I want to optimize my setup is fun :) If you were to make any post-jam changes, I think some QOL for refilling pots would be nice (targeting is a bit hard, hand needing to click multiple times for a basic task feels like much). Cheers!
This is actually awesome all around, wow!!!
Really cool! I'm impressed, you nailed this one!
Impressively complete entry! I beat it on easy mode for now, I'd attempt the harder ones if the game didn't stutter on this laptop - perhaps once I'm back on my desktop. Really good work, congrats!!!
Super cool idea! I like the visual choices made, and the music's good too!
I got them all! Good stuff!
Really funny intro, interesting gameplay as well! It took me a few first attempts before realizing I should straight up steal as much as I can, hahaha. Well done!
Very pretty drawings, I think the story idea worked great for the theme, along with being pretty original!!!
I'm amazed, this plays so well! Congrats!
Really cool idea, and quite polished as well! Congrats!
Interesting idea, though it seems like most levels just let me shoot straight into the void and complete them in a single move, regardless of how complicated they look. It's also too bad that there isn't any music to accompany the gameplay, though the menu sounds are quite fun! (I actually spent minutes making music by moving through the menu). Otherwise, your entry is definitely well made, congrats ;)
Well, that's a really fun concept! However, it's really hard as well. I'm not quite sure how to solve the puzzle, as it starts out with numbers and letters in a 4x4 grid (the screenshots show some image that you have to connect so I might be experiencing a bug). Because of that, I mainly focused on the shmup part :/ Either way, good job! Your game is quite polished ;)
Haha, this was fun! The title is a great catch from the start! I didn't do too well in game however, Ren transformed into a gorgon (or was she one all along?) a couple times. Couldn't really obtain a 'good ending' though. On the shooter side, the gameplay is, I think, quite sluggish, I would have liked a faster ship ;) Overall: quite fun game that could have a little extra polish ;)
Really cool idea! It's quite hard to balance out the resources correctly and clicking gets quite tedious, but I really like it! The art and music really make it enjoyable.
Amazing game, by far my ultimate fave of this jam! Hyper cheers!
I really dig rhythm games, and you've done a marvelous job there ;) The music is great, gameplay is neat, visuals are quite cute, congrats! Only issue I've had could be some input lag from time to time, which is probably only from my side ;)
@Kusaihana : the font is a custom one made by Maytch :)
Others: I agree with what you said about the pacing, the game is quite intense from the start. Unfortunately, when I was scripting the dialogs I ran out of time for curving them out. But I hadn't really considered it that much either, whoops! ;) Very good feedback, thanks!
Note to anyone trying to get a highscore: current record is wave 64 ;)
I'm pretty sure only the sniper has such a range, the others only have a decent reach, though I did make sure that the turrets wouldn't have too short a range since there wasn't enough time to implement range displaying.
Overall solid entry, I think that placing the bullets on the edge of their tiles is counter-intuitive and they were quite small so hard to read. I've however overcome that and defeated the boss! Otherwise, the music is fun, as are the graphics ;)
Really well made! Solid graphics, music and really enjoyable gameplay and concept! Cheers!
Quite short but really fun! Had an issue where my mouse wouldn't snap to the window edges, which made navigating a little harder, but after restarting the game it fixed itself. Otherwise, cheers!
Interesting concept! There were some clunky bits, sometimes I had to hit a key twice and it seemed like notes stack over each other without showing me. The game itself is polished, however I didn't seem to have any trouble maintaining rhythm or the city, and regretted that it wouldn't get faster. A game I'd love to see a post-jam of for sure, cheers!
Really cool! Tight controls, enjoyable visuals, funky music... congrats!
Cool concept, challenging enough though the RPG part of the game seems to work by simply ramming the opponent instead of proper strategy fights. However, it's more of a mechanic choice than a flaw, as I do understand that time is limited when it comes to adding strategy features. The game itself plays well, and it's solidly polished, congrats!
Really cool idea! Gonna be trying to obtain a respectable score now.
Another great entry!
I completed the game! Clever puzzles and adorable art. Well done!
@ugly-robot Thanks! I'm just pretty fast, and to be fair, neither the art style or game style here were new to me this time around :)
@100th-coin Thank you very much! The signal rooms being randomly selected ended up being my "cheat" to have as many hidden items as I needed without needing to design a puzzle for each one. The few puzzles I did make fall flat anyways, though... :p I appreciate that you recorded this! It definitely helps with the post-jam ruminations :)
Clever! I really like the idea here. Execution is super as well :)
This is good! Congrats on pulling it off with limited time - let me see what I can score, now... :)
Impressive entry once again! All around a fun experience, well done!
Simple and elegant entry! I like the style you went for this time around. Congrats!
Absolutely brilliant! I am stuck on Feuertrunken even though I checked the hint, but I'll return to it! I really really love this!!
Edit: made it!!!
