Great art and level design. Gameplay is enjoyable too. What's more i really like the concept with level scale changing

I would really like to try this but unfortunately it crashes after pressing space on the intro screen (Using Windows 8.1)

vovin 2017-12-05 17:45

Very tight character controls, nice.

There seems to be an issue with some people, let's see if I can fix it... sorry for the inconvenience!

fusionnist 2017-12-05 19:17

Fixed it!

The game didn't display correctly on my machine (only show on half of the screen). But when I tried running as administrator it worked.

For the game itself: I really love the graphic! The color is vibrant and warm.

Control is very well made, but double tap for dashing is something I think of as bad design: you always end up dashing when what you really want is to move small steps.

The level design is quite good as well, got me hooked. There are 3 particular turnoff for me though:

- Not knowing which artifact will open new paths and which doesn't. This end up making me take whatever I see anyway, and defeat the should-be purpose of the theme (don't take more than you can handle). - Places with lava on equal ground with platform feel really cheap: you take damage for overstepping platform when jumping - not natural and not fun. imo for the same difficulty just make lava lower than platform but make the jump longer. - The content after you lost all power (the part to the right after all 4 doors open) feel too long and tedious. It's not too hard but it's tedious, and I hate the 3 space lava jump mentioned earlier. I really wanted to know if there's a better ending than "got my own house" but I never made it back from there.

That was a pretty solid platformer, couldn't finish it cause I got the beginning of the game after opening almost every gate (missed the brown one) and for some reason I couldn't climb up ladders again and got stuck. I thought is was pretty fun, here's some thoughts about it:

- As said before, controls are pretty well-made but making players double tap to dash should be avoided.

- The artstyle was charming, though stages and character/items didn't seem to fit that well together.

- UI was a bit hard to read.

- I was confused about which artifacts openned which gates.

- It was pretty fun and engaging. Don't know if it needs more hazards or I just play too many platformer games.

- Only found one major bug (the one that kept me from finishing the game). Putting that aside, the game is quite polished.

Really clever reverse metroidvania. Liked the way you implemented the reward and risk strategy, thought it was designed in a smart way. Was fun to figure out the way you had to approach the rooms to obtain the most gold possible. I was able to become a Queen with my wealth so quite happy with my progress. Music, art and character movement also worked nicely together in complimenting each other and made it a pleasure to play around with the movement. Only suggestion I can give is that at first I was picking up the gold without reading the text so might be nice to even though you've collected it, to fade out the text slowly in case you accidently collect without reading first.

Wow it's amazing how many levels you crammed into this game within this short time! I really love the responsive controlsand the nice level designs. The only problem I found was when I pressed the jump button quickly, the double jump sound effect does not play. Anyways, I think everything in this game (music, art, control) all work together really well! I also like the little handdrawn instruction in the beginning. It's cute! Great work!

Spent most of the last hours making those maps out of my tears and blood, thanks :)

pvtroswold 2017-12-16 16:10

Would have liked to play this!

thrillho 2017-12-16 21:23

The art is great, and the gameplay is tight! This is almost like a reverse-Metroidvania, where you lose powers as you proceed instead of gaining them. Nice concept!

fluffi 2017-12-16 23:21

I liked the pixel art. You notice the loop of the music very much but it fits the mood. Overall a nice little arcade platformer :)

Very well designed and great take on the theme, I feel like I'm missing a secret end or something as there was still some room I could not explore after several tries :p The gameplay is simple but efficient, and taking loots in a different order can open new passages so this is really polished and clever. I thought about Rogue Legacy since the begining and really liked the art direction, and the palette really looks good (db32 maybe?). Music was super great too. Good job ! Cheers !

meneer-guus 2017-12-23 17:05

Like above poster said, reminded me of rogue legacy. Especially the risk-reward is nicely implemented, though a bit weird since I eventually wasn't able to climb ladders, but I was able to scale walls and dash through the air. The different movement abilities are appreciated as well, though walljumping was weird since you just slided upwards. Also, but now I'm nitpicking here, why can't the player just walk over the treasure instead of having to press space? I get that getting the treasure is optional, but since I had no problem traversing the level due to walljumping, it became a bit of a hassle. I don't want to sound to harsh because I enjoyed this entry, but these were a couple of problems I had with it

bros 2017-12-23 21:58

I could not decide if I should cheer for finding those shiny items or to be upset that I lose one of the cool abilities... especially the Dash. Nicely done!

sheepolution 2017-12-24 11:47

Nice platformer with an interesting mechanic. Really makes you think about your route. Only problem I have is that I'm not sure how well I did. This could be fixed by showing the maximum possible score. Great job though!

willisika 2017-12-24 12:27

Got a nice big house. lol. The core mechanic was very interesting. Some more information about the level would be nice.. maybe some sort of map to show where you have not been yet. otherwise a fairly good game. the "first" ice room got me off guard and i fell right into those spike ball thingies...

- Solid gameplay, but the double tap to dash was a bit pain in the butt and I kept dashing when I didn't want to. - Graphics and audio are decent. The tileset could use a bit more variation, seeing the same brickwall pattern everywhere was quite an eyesore. - The game was fun overall. and it made you think about the route you need to take to get home with the most loot. I never got all of the loot but that's fine. :P

donvermo 2017-12-24 13:30

I really like this entry, I'm a big fan of 2D platformers and I know it is hard to get that 'feeling' just right. The graphics are great and immersive (the cohesion of it all is super) and the premise is nice too. The reverse metroidvania is a nice twist and actually forces you to think more and more as you progress.

rosik 2017-12-24 14:46

Nice game, lovely simple art. I like to search for paths to closed rooms. But at some point game gets just frustrating. For example, it's hard to walljump back in room with 2 spiked balls, when you have no dash, or death from lava at same level as floor.
