LD52 — Harvest

Plant Harvester by zimny11 2023-01-11T01:03:31Z

Very fun game! I like all of the enemy variety and the art is all really nice. It's oddly addicting & satisfying to mow over things with the front of the harvester. I felt the screen could have been zoomed out a little more, but you get used to it over the playtime. Nice work!

Death 'n' Veggies by Klaus Peter 2023-01-14T01:09:51Z

Simple but addictive game! I like how the music changes as failure looms closer, and I like the creative takes on the harvestable plants. It's a little awkward trying to pick up and drop things rapidly, but in a way that adds to the chaotic charm. Nice work!

Hi!Waste Tomato by Asahi 2023-01-12T03:17:20Z

Wow, you all really nailed the visual style and theming in my opinion! The puzzles here are pretty clever, and it's honestly crazy how many levels you've packed in for a jam game like this. Well done!

Harpvest by SpoopyIsSad 2023-01-11T01:20:02Z

I love that you went for that pun and commited to it. With that predator on the loose I could never fully deliver Uncle Joe's birthday present though... I am so sorry Uncle Joe.

Slimevulture by Feraligatr 2023-01-11T01:15:40Z

I really like the idea of having to build up upgrades before this looming boss spawns- it feels more ominous because of it. The "ouch" SFX is fantastic lol. I totally forgot there was a bow until re-reading the description after playing, so it was a sword only win! Nice!

Haywire by Merin Car Trunk Key 2023-01-12T02:48:46Z

I really like the idea here, actually growing larger and more powerful by harvesting enemy part is very cool. I took it upon myself to defeat the large robot at the start with almost no upgrades and somehow managed it. It'd be cool to see the game expanded on as it seems you're planning. Nice work!

Elonkorjuu - Live Harvest by Tutti Ankka 2023-01-11T05:45:31Z

Love the way the art is both stylish and informative. And I'm a sucker for those crunched voice lines. I'm sure this would be a really fun one for speedrunners w/ mapping out the levels, the timers on the lights, things you can bypass with dash, enemy routes. Amazing work!

MONDO LABS by cannibalgirl 2023-01-11T00:17:36Z

I adore the overall mood of this game, from the animated chomping images to the ambient music. And the gameplay is really interesting too! I like how each level progressively teaches the player more and also gets more difficult - I felt that level 5 was a big jump in difficulty, but made for a fitting end. (I am now cancer man!)

It's fun how complex the combo of structures gets & how inevitably chaotic the final 'factory' becomes. The addition of the underpass tunnels is a godsend, though I did run into a few occasions where I wanted to place one but it let out onto an edge, and the conveyors seemingly didn't work if I did that, so I had to readjust. It'd be cool too if the delete button had a hotkey, but that's really minor.

I really enjoyed this, it feels super polished! Really well done!

Scholle by headchant 2023-01-11T04:59:25Z

Simple but fun game! I like the art and music loop. I feel it works well as an idle game due to the rarity of some resources- nice work!

Fallowtide by Jeremy Ryan 2023-01-11T05:33:50Z

What a fantastic game! I love the atmosphere of it all, from the swaying of the crops to the music to the dialogue sounds of the Doctor. And the gameplay itself is very satisfying and fun to plan out, while remaining pretty stress free and oddly relaxed considering what you're eventually doing. Really well done!

Scream of the Crop by indegame 2023-01-12T04:07:16Z

Really love the overall art style- the design of the three playable characters & the shopkeeper are so great. I tried 'maining' the Arboarist, I like how you can really feel your character get stronger between runs and that it isn't just a minor change. I did run into an issue where all of my characters died right after entering the second boss room and the game didn't progress back to the shop, so I was stuck on that screen. Overall though I really do like the style of this game + the music tracks are jamming! Great work!

Crop Season by chaikadev 2023-01-11T00:30:30Z

I love the vibe of this game, it's so relaxed! I often found that I'd throw the veggies too far, so that kinda contributed to the chilled-out vibe too by encouraging slowing down. The art and music is really nice as well. A few of the veggies did get stuck on the sides/top of the screen when I tried to throw them, but it wasn't too big of an issue. Nice work!

Blood Harvest by Efilheim 2023-01-12T03:43:33Z

Very stylish game, both visually and gameplay-wise! I really like the blood harvesting mechanic, it makes for a really unique take on this jam's theme. Speaking of jam, the music is also immaculately jamming. Really nice work!

Money grows on trees by Fluburbio 2023-01-11T04:39:04Z

I'm rich! Final score was 240,000 using the 'banana's all the way' strat - oddly satisfying and addicting to just keep hitting that upgrade button and spam clicking bananas. For whatever reason the bottom left tree stopped producing anything. But it was simple, good fun. Nice work!

Organ-ized Crime by ZungryWare 2023-01-11T04:48:57Z

Fun dialogue system! I really like the puzzle aspect, deducing the perfect target by asking each question is an interesting mechanic. I like how the maps get more complex as well- nice work!

abundance by Aurel300 2023-01-11T00:47:50Z

Really cool interpretation of the theme and mood here. I love the way the vines shimmer & react to the player, it's a nice detail that adds a lot. Exploring was fun, I only missed one log. Nice work!

7 days to harvest by fallcresthero 2023-01-11T00:57:42Z

Fun game! It's oddly satisfying to harvest a ton of crops at once. I also like the character designs and music. Very well done!

Horn of Abundance by fusionnist 2023-01-12T02:57:42Z

Love how chaotic it gets straightaway, so you can quickly get back into the action even after restarting. The upgrades & unique health system are also very fun. Nice work!

Xenorp Replacement Surgery by DungenRobot 2023-01-12T02:42:36Z

Love the fakeout with the instructions button. Was a bit confused at what to do at first- but I think that's the point! Eventually I succeeded- nice small game!

The Search for The Golden Crown Plant by DuzzOnDrums 2023-01-11T04:17:59Z

The art and the story behind it is so cute & charming! I like the feedback the player character gives and the ability to cross polinate is really very cool - I got a whole lot of turdmelons on my first attempt, yum! It's simple but fun, nice work you two!

The Bountiful by 100th_Coin 2023-01-11T05:14:58Z

Beautiful. Rest in peace Farmer Bill ~~but I also regret nothing, except maybe that I didn't also shovel the guy who sold me that 'good soil', because yeah right 'good soil', and I also regret not selling more corn, but one of those regrets feels a bit exponentially more significant than the other~~ Nice game!

Apple Harvester by rhewid 2023-01-14T01:56:49Z

I really like the art here! The gameplay is simple but very addicting. The worm mechanic is a nice touch as well as the text popups that react to what you're doing. No issues here, just simple fun. Nice work!

Forget-Me-Not: Harvesting Memories by eddrw 2023-01-11T03:57:59Z

I really love the art style here, and the music is very nice too! I think it'd be helpful to have a little more info/feedback on what to do, but the idea is very cool and a unique take on the theme. Nice!

Slay the Harvest by mharring 2023-01-14T02:09:10Z

This is really great! I played my main run without doing any planting and solely with the uzi, and quickly became overpowered- which isn't a bad thing imo, I had a lot of fun with it. I really like the different enemy types and the art is fantastic. My only real issue is that the cursor sometimes got lost in the array of bullets and enemies, but with how quickly everything was exploding, this was never a problem for long. Really nice work!

Tune-uki: Human Harvest by CasualNothing 2023-01-14T01:50:12Z

The ability to rebind controls is very appreciated! Though I still suck at rhythm games, this was fun! Beautiful skills, tanuki. Fun game!

Melon Guardian by tsuyurikuraudo 2023-01-11T01:09:43Z

Interesting idea to have the two sides have different movement types. I could see some fun strategies emerging about how to block in the harvester, or how to plan your movement as the harvester not to get stuck. Cool idea.

@cloistered @terylangosh Thank you for the kind comments & letting me know about that strange glitch- hope to get that figured out very soon. Really glad to hear you enjoyed!

Macrogreens by joshedev 2023-01-10T22:32:59Z

@cannibalgirl brb gonna cry bc of your comment

Seriously though, it means so much to read that. I'm so glad you enjoyed the game and the elements that went into it. A lot of credit goes over to to the VAs and composer that joined in to help me on this! But again, thank you so much for the comment, really happy that you had fun.

(The Voodoo Sprouts harmed in the making of these dishes will remain in our hearts forever)

Macrogreens by joshedev 2023-01-11T23:33:19Z

@adam-gallina Glad you had fun with it! I *was* going to add a trash can at first, but then a devilish mood came over me and I decided it'd be more fun to have chaotic ingredients strewn about everywhere. I'm definitely considering building off of this idea after the jam!

@she-wrote Thank you so much for your nice comment! I'm really glad you enjoyed the game.

@cievers Glad it wow-ed!

@zluca Really happy to hear you liked it, thanks for your comment! And yeah, the lack of a trash can is unfortunately by design heh heh

@truechips That means a lot to hear, thank you so much! My cheat code was staying up for 30-hours straight for the last stretch. So uh, maybe insanity is more of the right word for it lol

@fizzbark Thank you! It's pretty cool hearing that it was too easy for you, most play sessions I've watched have gone down to the wire or failed on day 2/3. You're an interstellar cooking pro! I added another screenshot, appreciate the suggestion.

@maximbegunov Glad you liked the interactions! Making the micro-gameplay fun was one of my biggest goals this jam. Thanks for your comment!

@tvorojok Thank you for the nice comment, I'm very glad you liked it!

@kosmi That's a very kind comparison. Thank *you* for playing!

@zungryware Your in-depth notes really mean a lot to read over, thank you! I'm super glad you enjoyed the audio and gameplay. I definitely agree when it comes to the shaker, it could use a larger indiactor for sure. Fun to hear about that crispy sludge- sometimes the easiest ingredient can be the hardest! Thanks for playing!

@serpo Super happy to hear you liked the voice acting, that aspect definitely took a village but I really appreciated everyone's contributions. Thank you for your comment & for playing!

Macrogreens by joshedev 2023-01-13T18:20:04Z

@fusionnist I'm really glad you enjoyed- thank you!

@fluburbio Glad you found the game to be *stylish*, thank you for your nice comment!

@zimny11 Wow, that means a lot to hear, thank you so much! The gold medal is earned by having a few minutes to spare at the end, and it is possible on all days!

@snekofspice I'm really glad to hear you liked the voice acting and gameplay! There is a bit of a tracker in the upper-right of the plate screen that should show how many total ingredients are remaining, including duplicates, + the 'x2, x3, etc' thing on the recipe, but if you have any additional suggestions for implementation I'd love to hear them. Thank you for playing & the nice comment!

Thank you all so much for your support on the game :D

Otherworld Harvester by shp 2023-01-14T01:22:28Z

I love the atmosphere and overall mood here, the graphics and SFX are awesome. I got down to the wire on pretty much each level, I'd be interested in seeing how a pro runs this game. I very much like the ghostly jellyfish imagery of the enemies. I never got much use out of the upgrades, since I barely had enough time to begin with, but other than that it feels like a complete short experience. Well done!

LD54 — Limited Space

Pentomaniac by Flying Butter Studio 2023-10-19T02:11:14Z

This is such a fun idea! I love the clever ways the items are shaped to make the puzzles more challenging, and how each micro level is themed around a piece of furniture in the larger house. It comes together to form a satisfying and relaxing game imo. I did run into one bug where I couldn't remove an item of furniture in the house, but other than that it was a lot of fun! Great work!

Mitch's Budget Movers! by SephoWepho 2023-10-19T21:07:51Z

Fun take on the theme! It took a little bit to figure out how to play, but once I did the gameplay loop was pretty enjoyable. It's evil (in a good way) that the truck doors are closed by default, I kept smashing my first box straight into them, undoubtedly causing more damage than necessary to those poor boomerangs. I did run into a few minor glitches, like objects not fitting and not registering as being picked up (still reading 0/4) but nothing game breaking. Mario thanking me at the end was a beautiful cherry on top. Nice work!

No Cats! by Raphiell 2023-10-05T02:39:00Z

Perfectly frustrating, as herding cats should be. I love the face in the corner and the music (reminds me of the classic DOOM E1M1). Nice work!

Homeonaut by Its_Capp 2023-10-05T01:39:29Z

Despite how chaotic some of the levels can get, I found this game to be oddly relaxing (maybe it's the music)! I like how new enemy types are introduced the further you progress, and it never feels *too* unforgiving with having to retry levels. I also found the visuals charming. Nice work!

Towerfull by Brainloaf Studio 2023-10-05T02:59:18Z

@googlefrog Thank you! Glad the limited space was felt and appreciate the feedback on our precious Gorblets.

Each level's main objective is just to kill the king, but we left an endless mode in after the prompt to truly test your setup with increasing speeds & hp values. I feel like finding an infinitely survivable setup could be considered truly 'beating' a level, so well done!

Towerfull by Brainloaf Studio 2023-10-05T03:53:53Z

@raddishradish Thank you! Really happy you liked those aspects!

When a Groblet is standing still (and not looking happy) it means it's trying to get to a tower but the enemy path is blocking the way. That's where a bridge comes in handy once it's unlocked!

Escape The Walls by purplexy 2023-10-06T02:36:52Z

Ooh I like the literal take on the theme! The variety of obstacles/mechanics in each level is pretty awesome considering the timeframe. There were a few times where I dashed but the ninja didn't move, leading to a death, but I appreciate that you don't lose a ton of progress on failure. It's a fun time - well done!

Hot Drills by CodeRaurus 2023-10-19T01:17:47Z

I like the risk-reward gameplay! It's definitely nerve-racking trying to avoid the enemies while finding a path that doesn't lead to overheating. It's simple, but feels like a polished experience. I did run into a very minor bug where I was able to die at the same time as completing a level, but it didn't impact my time with the game. Well done!

KAAMOS by PabloAbraham 2023-10-05T01:15:22Z

Absolutely love the visual style here - the animation of colors adds a ton of flair, and I love how the vehicle sways with movement. The exploration aspect is pretty interesting, especially when *something* starts chasing you. Unfortunately I did eventually get stuck in a dialogue popup, but what I saw was really well done!

Mr. FLATFORMER's House by blinyadebil 2023-10-05T02:25:13Z

Absolutely mind-bending concept, I love it! I'm a sucker for intuitive level design that teaches the player without prompts, and you absolutely nailed that aspect in my opinion. The whole thing just feels really polished overall - super nice work!

Skybacon inc. by Dekajoo 2023-10-05T02:16:03Z

What a great puzzle game! I really love the polish across the board here, from visual design and music to level design. It definitely has that satisfying "click" moment when you figure out exactly how to place everything- though I do agree with a previous comment that it'd be nice if conveyors remembered the last orientation. Great work!

Commuter by Catulus Zesmar 2023-10-19T01:21:31Z

Absolutely beautifil, life-changing music (and death sfx). I like the variety in the levels, and the cruelty of being a commuter truly bears down on you when you realize you have to start from the beginning when you lose. I did run into an unexpected invisible wall during the car level, which felt a bit unfair, but maybe that's just part of the commuter life as well...

Claustrophobia by Maryk 2023-10-05T02:47:00Z

I feel like this game nails the feelings of the walls closing in with the visuals, sfx (that alarm!) and breath mechanic! Some of the platforming was a bit frustrating, but hey, that also adds to the anxiety, right? In all seriousness though, nice work!

Cache Me If You Can by Auros 2023-10-19T20:44:31Z

What a cool idea for the theme! I love how each filetype has a different attack, and how all of the files you deleted are shown at the end of a run. Throwing weapons is a fun idea instead of just reloading, and the way the music changes when you enter combat is a rad addition. Some more room variety could be interested in a more fleshed out version, but for the jam this is very polished. Nice work!

Circular Nest by ShidyGames 2023-10-19T01:31:20Z

The gameplay loop of upgrading your turret and having the arena shrink smaller and smaller is really fun! I like how ridiculously cramped things get during the final arena (and the sheer chaos of the SFX as tons of enemies spawn around you). It'd definitely be cool to see the enemy types expanded on, but it was already a fun time. Nice work!

Oort's Orbital Postal Service by QGDev 2023-10-05T01:45:06Z

I really like the visual style and concept here, it's charming flying around space making deliveries! The controls were a little tough to get used to, with the camera attatched to the player, but I did start getting the hang of it with time. Nice work!

Bathtub Buccaneers by Cloverfall 2023-10-19T20:49:33Z

Haha this is a really cute idea for a game, I love the graphics of the ducks and soap in the water acting as obstacles. It's also cool to see that the rest of the bathroom is modeled as well! I agree with some comments that either an aiming reticle or more aim-ability would be nice, alongside a health bar and expanded enemy waves (water pun unintended). Nice work!

RoboRage by Kr4sh3 2023-10-05T01:29:56Z

This is a strangely addicting gameplay loop! Once I got the hang of the controls and movement, seeing how much farther I could push my abilities at each enemy spawner was a fun time. I do agree with previous comments that it sometimes took a bit too long to get all the relevant upgrades, and the platforming can feel a bit brutal with the spikes, but I enjoyed my time with the game! Good work!

Trainwreck by Zac Arnold 2023-10-05T01:34:36Z

Ooh this game feels really polished, and addicting in its simplicity! I really like the way the music changes as time presses on, and just placing/dropping the cargo feels satisfying. Nice work!

Amoeba Feast by Peco 2023-10-06T02:29:53Z

What a relaxing game! I really love the visual style and music here, it comes together really cohesively and again feels really relaxed, despite the hectic-ness of stuff flying everywhere. Really nice work!

Space, Yarr! by SnekOfSpice 2023-10-19T20:55:04Z

Such a rad game! I love the absolutely jamming music, the portraits of the pirates, and the inclusion of voice acting! It's fun trying to figure out the best way to place the changing obstacles (some levels are really tough, at least for my tiny brain), and it's definitely a unique take on the theme. Really nice work!

The One by smiley405 2023-10-19T02:17:06Z

Simple but fun game! I like the inclusion of a different enemy types and the limited arrow system. The animations are awesome, though I did find it the hitbox for your attacks to be a little small, especially since you can't move during attacks. It definitely gets hectic once there's a ton of enemies (leading to jumping around the screen like a madman) - it's a simple implementation of the theme but very effective! I do agree with others that the controls are a bit difficult to get a handle on at firt, but once you get used to them it's a fun arcade-y time. Nice work!

Park King by BoxedMeatRevolution 2023-10-05T01:09:07Z

This game is evil... in the best way! I love quickly things spiral out of control with the physics, and the music is a serious jammer. I'd be really interested to see what a speedrun of this game would look like. Well done!
