Fun game until you get softlocked! On the brightside, that kind of promotes RNG competition among friends.
~~Developer here: there was a game breaking bug introduced right before the deadline. It has since been fixed, but the person who can update the itch page is currently asleep. Please come back later in a couple hours if you'd like! The bug in question prevents the world from generating properly, effectively **soft-locking** the player after a minute or two. I'll edit this comment once the change has been made.~~
EDIT: The game has been updated and the player no longer gets soft-locked. Check out the patch notes in the submission. Have fun playing!
yo, fantastic game! Got me playing quite a while. guess shooting things can be quite addicting huh
I liked the music. Reminded Doom. But the sound of footsteps is very intrusive. I didn't understand how to recharge (The cartridges ran out. Shooting files is fun and they die beautifully!
By far the best game I have played this GJ. Fantastic gun feel and addicting gameplay loop, I mean its Doom, what can you not like about it? I played for over 20min and my complaints are pretty minimal: The walking sound is a bit monotone, the enemy variety is a bit low and the game was a bit too easy for my liking. taking that into conconcideration tho, I actually had a lot of fun playing and hope you guys continue working on this. Great job!
I kinda have a knack for endless games and this scratched that itch perfectly. From the energising rock loop to the surprisingly satisfying gunplay, I found myself wandering from room to room for upwards of 10 minutes without even thinking about why. Granted, the game doesn't exactly give much reason to, but even without much humor or story, this is a fun, satisfying and (for a Game Jam) surprisingly polished experience. The theme also doesn't really fit, except on a very surface level, but I don't value this that highly. Good Job!
very addicting movement, I found myself you bhopping in place for a while trying to see how much speed I could get! I will say that the difficulty leaves me rather disappointed, I was able to find health packs and miniguns before my life bar hit 80%
Anyways really great game guys! keep on beating your blocks and god speed sexy jaroslav beck!
absolutely sick, literally the only thing i'd want is more weapon and enemy types (and its not like im gonna dock you for that because the content was perfect for a jam), really good, no notes. keep it up!
I love DOOM, and I got soooo excited when I found this game. The theme doesn't really fit, but I don't mind it at all. I just loved being thrown into combat, bunny-hopping around and blazing my way through countless enemies. Seeing numbers go up in endless games just makes me want to play more and beat my high score. You really made my day with this game.
Hey hey! I'm one of the developers on this game.
With a lot of our Ludum Dare time spent on building out the game, not a ton was left for developing content (files and weapons) or general balance. I feel it's in a good *enough* spot for most to find enjoyable as a jam game (and thankfully, it seems most agree).
Nonetheless, I thank everyone for enjoying the game! A couple more days of polish (or perhaps entering Extras instead) would've certainly produced a better game. Perhaps one day, we could take this game outside of Ludum Dare? Some food for thought.
Given that there hasn't been a good FPS for 30 years, I liked this one! I'm not sure what the point of all those super long corridors was, though, and I ended up in a dead end, which I guess was not supposed to happen?
@arzi just a facet of the runtime random room generation unfortunately
we were able to tweak it to be very solid generally, but there's still some long hallways and the occasional dead end
i'm sorry maxwell i had no other choice
pretty fun game! found myself playing for 20-30 minutes easily, reached ~250MB and the outside world (no ceiling) for some reason i ran into a ton of miniguns right as i stepped outside
the music felt weird, it was as if it never really started but other than that, it was pretty fun!
cool lil doom shooter! i liked the silly little details included! Played till 100Mb and stopped haha great stuff!
i had fun with this one, played til i got just over 200mb. it was cool having the health pickups come out of the files. i liked the strategy of getting close with the shotgun to throw it at the enemies, but once i got the minigun it was just way easier and took away from that challenge. the little boss encounter was a nice addition and the cat pictures were also a nice touch lol. well done!
Finally, a game that really makes you FEEL like WinDirStat. I loved all the little enemy names and icons, very funny. I wish there was an end! Didnt really realize it was infinite for a while lol. The player accel is a littttle long and they could use a little more friction when no input is being entered. Overall great work! Yeeting my shotgun was incredibly funny
Screenshot 2023-10-07 223152.png Deleted a GB of precious data! Had a great time with this one! I was surprised at how much fun it was to play and I was impressed at the variety in the procedural stuff, like the file names. Eventually it does become a little monotonous, and I got lost a couple of times, but the fact that I "got lost" in a jam game because it was so big is a little crazy. I also appreciated the small detail that the thrown shotgun can do more damage than a single bullet. I also had fun throwing it over the wall :)
EDIT: I forgot to praise the reactive music! Again, it got monotonous after a while, but the fact that it would change based on if you were in combat or not helped keep it fresh for longer than otherwise. Awesome job
@animatrix1490 Glad someone noticed the thrown weapons! Thrown weapons actually do have higher damage compared to the bullets they fire. It was a funny idea to implement as a "reload" animation, which turned out to be fun to implement, and equally fun to play with. Really proud of it!
What a cool idea for the theme! I love how each filetype has a different attack, and how all of the files you deleted are shown at the end of a run. Throwing weapons is a fun idea instead of just reloading, and the way the music changes when you enter combat is a rad addition. Some more room variety could be interested in a more fleshed out version, but for the jam this is very polished. Nice work!
