Plus: - good graphics, sounds, mood - clear instructions for keys - clear goal - interesting idea - a lot of content

Minus: - a little bit difficult to understand how to play. I got stuck on the second level, because poop couldn't be produced and placed on a conveyor belt. This was not clear. - I also feel like the game is a little too difficult.

Wow, very cool atmosphere in this one! I really like how different this felt from what I expected in the Harvest theme. The idea of harvesting nutrients from food and using specifically-needed sets of nutrients to fight disease is a really fun concept. The number of features and well-crafted tutorials is really impressive for such a short jam. Great work!

hmrpf 2023-01-09 22:44

I love the design and the idea. Great take on the theme. I'm a bit confused on how to make the steak eater eats his steaks though ! I had 25 steaks in front of it, and it was unable to eat I don't get really why. I'll come back to try again though because the concept is really nice. Good job !

the-vecter 2023-01-09 23:59

Really good game! The artstyle fit the game really well as did the music and sound effects. The gameplay was challenging but still really fun.

I would have liked to be able to select the different buildings with the mouse, as right now trying to click the icons places a building instead which is annoying when I forget. Additionally, it is sometimes hard to know where there is a ledge/change in level, so maybe adding something on ledges would be helpful.

If you made this into a full game I would play it :)

greenphox 2023-01-10 17:03

Really impressive game! Nice puzzles, impressive graphics, and the sfx fitted the game well. Nice one! I just couldn't believe that more and more mechanics were added in the levels, really impressive. Well done! I found some levels too difficult, especially the one before the meat production.

eeperdeheap 2023-01-10 19:28

Nice game. Time flew by while playing it. I got stuck on level 4 though, as it didn't start (played the HTML version from itch.io). The dialogue pops up and then no text shows up and it stops. Really nice conveyer belt game.

cannibalgirl 2023-01-10 19:54

@chompdev thank you for kind words!! i tried to explain everything with the in-game scenarios and without using walls of text or instruction images but i feel like some parts are still too cryptic :see_no_evil:

@hmrpf thank you for playing! very weird, usually the HARVEST ZONE had no issues but i'll look into it! you can always skip to the next level in the menu in case something weird happens (or if you just feel like it)

@the-vecter really glad that you like it and thank you for playing!!! good suggestions, will keep them in mind to improve. for easier building, it's also possible to use keyboard shortcuts

@greenphox merci for kind words and thank you for taking the time to play! difficulty and whole progression needs some fine-tuning for sure, it's still somewhat cryptic. with the difficult level, do you mean the level 02 where you need to defeat all cancer?

@eeperdeheap thank you for playing! i will look into the intro cutscene in lv4! congrats for making it that far :two_hearts:

greenphox 2023-01-10 20:02

@cannibalgirl yes, I mean level 02, I made a solution, but it would fight cancer very slowly, I had to remove it all and rebuild it 2 times, in order to find winning solution.

Fun game once I got my head around it. It feels a little obtuse and inaccessible at times. I think simply putting more visually clear reminders of what things require/produce/combat in the level would help. I would also let us replace items (such as belts) without the need to delete each and every time, which gets a little tedious. Great submission!

yogurtthehorse 2023-01-10 20:44

Very bold way of understanding the theme. Like VERY :D

And very interesting way of modifying all those conveyor games like Factorio or Mindustry, very cool entry!

Also liked your ambient you posted on the main page (which made me wanna play the game), so you maybe would be interested in listening to our game empty space ambient :)

cannibalgirl 2023-01-10 20:53

@yogurtthehorse haha no way I had the Junkship tab already open and in queue to play before your post, I've seen the thumbnail on the games page and it catched my eye, gonna play it next!!!

kuboxxxxx 2023-01-10 21:09

I love the aestethics and the vibe that it gives me. I turned it off after 30 minutes and I'm still creeped out which I love! Can't stress enough how much impression it left, I'm sure I won't sleep tonight D:

Difficulty was a nice add on, but I think some of the mechanics were a bit cryptic at first, but I could figure it out after some experimenting, but I know most players won't experiment and just turn that game off in frustration, cause they want everything nicely explained. Probably best example it that it's not obvious enough what to do with poop in second level. I also belive mirroring blocks would be a nice tool to use, cause I run into scenario were I would prefer to have a poop drain on the other side.

But besides that I loved that vibe and getting deeper and deeper into that dark world of this creepy organism, it's totally my style and vibe, I fell in love with it and I would love to see it as a full game! :two_hearts:

accatosh 2023-01-10 22:00

Really cool game. Never thought of this interpretation of harvest. The graphics really fit the mood and the atmosphere is amazing. Though, I wish there was some more variety in the music. Also, in the fourth level, the cancer is supposed to grow and block my building area right? But it seems like I can block the cancer from growing by placing conveyor belts. Anyway, it is impressive that this much content could be done in this short time. Good job!

floata3 2023-01-10 23:07

love the game great theme and very fun

amarokczukay 2023-01-10 23:36

Really nice and puzzling game! I've spent a lot of time trying to solve the levels, which is a good thing! the ambiance is nice, and i liked the color palette too.

however, the only downside i'm thinking about (except the difficulty curve, but that's not such a major issue to me) is the design of the sprites that didn't really help me understand the use of each box or what the inputs/outputs were.

joshedev 2023-01-11 00:17

I adore the overall mood of this game, from the animated chomping images to the ambient music. And the gameplay is really interesting too! I like how each level progressively teaches the player more and also gets more difficult - I felt that level 5 was a big jump in difficulty, but made for a fitting end. (I am now cancer man!)

It's fun how complex the combo of structures gets & how inevitably chaotic the final 'factory' becomes. The addition of the underpass tunnels is a godsend, though I did run into a few occasions where I wanted to place one but it let out onto an edge, and the conveyors seemingly didn't work if I did that, so I had to readjust. It'd be cool too if the delete button had a hotkey, but that's really minor.

I really enjoyed this, it feels super polished! Really well done!

najimi 2023-01-11 01:24

I love the concept of the game, fighting cancer is always amazing! Reminded me a lot of factorio, and I liked the narration. I think I destroyed a fair amount of cancer, produced a lot of eggs and even meat! I'm somewhat a scientist myself. Considering you did this all by yourself, it's a really great job you did there. The ambience and being in a body was a bit dark, but it set the right mood to kill those growing cancercells. Keep up the good work!

cutesquirrel 2023-01-11 03:09

Nice game. Hard to understand first, but really cool when you get the grip of it. 5/5 would beat cancer again.

cannibalgirl 2023-01-11 11:45

@kuboxxxxx thank you for kind words and spending some time inside the fleshy insides, hopefully it won't keep you disturbed for _too_ long :two_hearts:

@accatosh very glad to hear that you made it to the 4th level! indeed, you found out the "cheese" strategy that is totally valid as there is already quite a lot to take care of even without the cancer taking your free building space :v: note taken about the music, moar dark ambient always bettar

@amarokczukay thank you thank you! always a pleasant surprise to hear that it was a nice puzzle and not too complicated for a jam game!! valid point with the readability - i'm still looking for a good solution for this

@joshedev oh man thank you! mad props for finishing the last level as it takes some effort to complete :two_hearts: chaos is built in indeed; ledges bug - totally true, didn't manage to adress it in the time limit. actually all building actions have keyboard shortcuts including the delete (DEL on keyboard) - but this possibility could be explained/communicated better for suuuure

@najimi indeed it is a love letter to factorio! thank you for playing and kind words

@cutesquirrel thank you for playing (and beating cancer!!) :two_hearts:

flatgub 2023-01-11 11:57

Absolutely loved this, 100% my favourite game of the jam so far! Literally my only nitpick would be that it would've been nice to have a drag-build for belts, everything else was perfect!

also love me a mondo medicals reference, that absolutely takes me back

cannibalgirl 2023-01-11 12:37

@flatgub WINNER WINNER respect for recognizing the ancient game from the old sages, i consider MONDO LABS an unofficial prequel to the MONDO MEDICALS :syringe:

bardia-crunch 2023-01-11 16:19

As a big fan of Mindustry and Factorio , this is really nice in all way. probably one of my favorites from the jam.

My only complain is that sometimes the selection on walls get really jank and it doesn't read mouse input.

overall awesome game

zungryware 2023-01-11 17:32

Fantastic! I was hoping we would get some systems-building games with this theme. This game had me hooked all the way through trying to get my machine up and running before the cancer overtook me.

The theming was beautifully grotesque. The fleshy sounds and structures with the dark-ambient backing track did a very good job of conveying a dystopian Cronenberg theme. I think the fact that the premise is around turning cancer cells into meat did a lot to convey the theme. I really loved it!

meatt.png meat2.png

No notes, save for a couple bugs. - A lot of times, when I tried to select a new building to build, it would place a building instead. - In the screenshot below, I would expect to be able to transfer energy like so: nomove.png

lohii 2023-01-11 19:27

Really good game, had a blast. Found a cheese tactic, however. I could build stuff in front of the cancer to prepare my pipeline in piece, without having to worry about it overrunning everything. I wish there was an option to multibuild, since clicking each individual was sometimes bit of a chore. Another thing I wish that could've been adjusted was game speed. A couple of times you had your pipeline ready, but had to just wait for the goal to accumulate. Clicking through the buttons and accidentally building or deleting something was sometimes an issue. But those are minor points. Really, really, really good submission.

zimny11 2023-01-11 20:17

Simply wow! Amazing game! Everything is so well done: music, sound effects, game mechanics, creepy art style! I have nothing too add, except maybe... as a fan of Factorio... MORE! Awesome job!

fluri 2023-01-12 13:38

Great pathfinding puzzle! It took me a while to finish the third level because at first I was trying to feed carrots to the cancer harvester but I figured it out eventually :) I do wish for a reset of items without destroying the conveyors.

pedsm 2023-01-13 22:41

I never expected for someone to make a game like this in a Jam as a big fan of automation style games this is super impressive. Also extremely creative setting and style

2023-01-16 06:59

the level design is really great! I paid more than one hour on this game!

david-mason 2023-01-18 22:16

very nice game!

kr0k 2023-01-19 17:51

Impressive submission! Graphics are more than neat and the execution is superb. I suck at such puzzles - but that's not the games fault :D Amazing job!

hawkin 2023-01-21 04:15

This is so packed!! I am impressed with how complete the game already feels. It just needs a little polishing on the delete mechanism (it sometimes deleted something other than I thought I was selecting), as well as some additional levels for pacing (which you've mentioned).

Otherwise, what an educational and fun factorio-like puzzle! There was definitely challenge getting all the lines routed around each other. I think it's exploitable, with the rate of output. For example, I let a bunch of resources build up into the meat generator, then I added the poop outflow later, cutting off the water inflow, and still won :)

Untitled.png

Btw, the poop smilies were too funny!

the-enigma 2023-01-22 23:10

Fun game! I wish I had more time on the levels and more information to better optimise the factories. I did notice a few times when trying to place or delete an object it selected the wrong tile, and once or twice the level intro text did not load (so I couldn't see what was after the final showdown). But it was a really neat concept very well executed. Good job!

picttarge 2023-01-27 19:40

My only ask is for a restart map option in the menu! But who doesn't like an isometric factorio-esque internal body simulator! This is really good - well done indeed!

icalm 2023-01-28 02:13

Can you add a custom level maker?????????
