I really enjoyed this! The sense of humor in the instructions is great, and I really appreciate the overall mood of the game. I think the first person POV really pulled the whole thing together! I also like that we get to interact with the people instead of just like, picking one and leading them off.

Great game here. Rated 5.0 for humor (especially enjoyed the part where you pull out the tranquilizer). Loved the tall buildings and pixelated graphics, they add to the mood a lot. The gameplay loop does get a bit repetitive onwards as you have to navigate through similar dialogues for every person you talk to; one of the footstep audio was a little too harsh. But pulling all this off on an individual project is superb. Great job.

eloraju 2023-01-10 10:08

Surprisingly fun! I think that you should always get to ask more questions regardless if the target is a valid donor or not. I realized that if I ask about current sports events, some of the people don't allow me to ask further questions ruling them out after the first questions. But that's just my preference and would also mean that you'd have to write more dialog since going over the same ones repeatedly would get jarring after some time

But overall great idea and execution!

Loved it!

cat-chef 2023-01-10 11:04

Got to New Zealand! Enjoyed taking my marks on strolls to explore the maps, level 9 in particular was really cool! Loved the music jargon and the time the player character mentions his profession but the npc doesnt notice. The different systems and dialogue options come together to make some tricky puzzles and I enjoyed finding the solutions! Great work!

kopr 2023-01-10 22:32

Nice, I like the quests/challenges that they are not that easy to figure out but still very straight forward if you understand the main "quiz". I like how you twisted the theme even over a fact that some people would call this inappropriate :D But I liked that and honestly think that we need to have some "dark humor" in our lives.

jajakeim 2023-01-11 01:16

Turns out I really like to be a human organ harvester. Really good entry good job !

ominusgalaxy44 2023-01-11 01:20

Hilarious game! Level 6 was genius, it took me a bit XD. Very creative and original use of the theme :)

batbro051939 2023-01-11 01:20

Love the Organ-ized Crime theme, some interesting dialog.

tessahardin 2023-01-11 01:36

I got so into this game that I think I spent 30 minutes on it before remembering that I was rating LD games. So much praise to your game, easily my favorite one so far even though I didn't even get past level 7 ha. I loved the goofy music questions and the overall humor of the game. The art style is cool and professional. My only complaint was that after having to repeat level 7 so many times, it got kind of old having to walk to each dude, I wish they were in closer proximity. This is such a silly little complaint though, because the game is overall so polished and very fun and addicting, great submission.

joshedev 2023-01-11 04:48

Fun dialogue system! I really like the puzzle aspect, deducing the perfect target by asking each question is an interesting mechanic. I like how the maps get more complex as well- nice work!

alex-de-la-cour 2023-01-11 12:44

What a game! Quality, hilarious dialogue, mechanics were straightforward but remained fun and interesting through the whole game. I really enjoyed it. Level 6 took me ages to figure out - I was actually coming here to comment that there was a bug before it clicked in my brain. Congratulations on a really good entry!

ani 2023-01-11 17:57

Really enjoyed playing through this! Happy to have earned my vacation after some questionable harvesting haha. It's a great take on the theme with lots of fun character interactions.

katamary 2023-01-11 19:33

One of the best game in this LD! I like it! Thank you for fun!

gurkenlabs 2023-01-11 20:47

This is a really fun game with great visuals and interesting dialogue. Really a shame that you didn't have any music!

nullval 2023-01-11 20:55

Great writing, loved the retro FPS look to it all :)

justin-c 2023-01-12 00:34

This is an interesting entry. Kind of like Papers Please, where you have to remember to check for a bunch of things, but with kidnapping and organ harvesting. I really enjoyed it.

crychair 2023-01-12 03:59

Neat idea, but it gets a little repetitive. Also I found it a bit odd that the people don't have any reaction to me pulling out my tranquilizer gun. Neat Idea for the harvest theme, others thought of organ harvesting but this is a neat way of handling that.

xeke-death 2023-01-12 09:29

These people have no idea about personal safety. People been losing organs, and they still will just go drinking with a random in a back alley!

I like the dialog selections to discover the different traits about people, it worked very well. Good game overall, I enjoyed this.

jfeeefl 2023-01-12 18:38

Cool idea and immersive experience! As a player, each step I take is recognizing and repeating, but the mood fits so well and I can feel as if it is me who made these decisions. Especially when querying someone's life, their hobby, their passion, it is really guilty to imagine that I had just destroyed everything in his future. Texts are also pretty interesting. Good work!

flaterectomy 2023-01-12 20:03

Zungry! Fancy stumbling upon you here, away from WATMM!

A fun interview-style game, figuring out who is (un)healthy in what way. For the life of me I cannot figure out level 6, though. Seems to be one dude who is a perfect match, but I can't say anything to get him to follow me. Tried the other three but as expected from their answers, they were unhealthy. My rationale is failing me.

Dig the concept and the throwback graphics. I appreciate that the sprites have a front, side and back version! Obviously, knowing your abilities, I was missing the music.

All in all a really cool concept and I wish I was smart enough to complete it!

Love the twist in level 6. Got stuck for a little while and then came the eureka moment and it feels good. And I love fpp puzzle games especially when they have a realistic touch. Oh and great take on the theme, accurate (I believe so) and fun at the same time. Art and sfx are good as well.

poboy 2023-01-13 10:01

Off I go to New Zealand!

Some genuinely funny dialogue and Level 6 was brilliant. I'm not sure I totally understood the eyesight thing. Top marks for innovation.

I loved the general mood of it, just a bunch of guys with very poor self-preservation skills scattered around some purgatory city, looking up at the stars until they get their organs harvested.

Felt very Cruelty-Squad-esque which I liked too.

Really nice game!

fuse-in-a-bowl 2023-01-13 11:18

The subversion in level 6 was great! That twist added so much to the game, it was fantastic!

I thought there was a similar twist in level 8 as (SPOILERS) the first time it placed the two blind guys in the booths, so I thought I could bring the victim in there and get him. Fortunately for them, I apparently healed their blindness by shooting someone in front of them.

Great job, excellent writing and novel puzzles!

zungryware 2023-01-13 17:58

@fuse-in-a-bowl Holy, shit. How did I not think of that? Oh, I know how I didn't think of that. I designed levels 8 and 9 at 5-am after pulling an all-nighter. That would have made for a great puzzle though. After the jam is over, I might just add a new level somewhere between levels 6 and 8 with that as the catch. Thanks for playing!

zungryware 2023-01-13 18:07

@poboy The Cruelty-Squad influence is not an accident. At a certain point, I realized that the game looks kinda ugly. I figured I could either spend time I didn't have to polish the visuals, or just lean into the ugliness. I chose the latter. It's got misaligned textures, a mishmash of unrelated visual styles (retro FPS pixel art, cartoon pixel art, low-poly 3D, HTML/CSS menus), and completely nonsensical level structure near the end. Thanks for playing!

zungryware 2023-01-14 07:53

@eloraju The "impatience" mechanic doesn't actually indicate that someone is the wrong guy. It's entirely possible that they were the right person and you just locked yourself out of winning. (Just shoot someone at random if you'd like to restart the level.)

How it works is that if you ask the person, "Do you drink alcohol?" and they say no, that's fine. But if you then follow up with, "What's your favorite drink?", that's clearly an irrelevant question since they've essentially already answered it. Ask three irrelevant questions and they will stop talking to you completely. Would you keep talking to someone who talks past you like that? :P

I added the mechanic to prevent spamming every dialogue option to get the guy to follow you. This encourages players to actually read the dialogue options, without really making the game any more difficult.

simon-rahnasto 2023-01-14 08:49

So the best defense against being organ harvested is to have a terrible lifestyle, leading to no one wanting your organs... Excellent!

What a great experience that was, I dig the mood and visuals a lot!

My favorite thing about this entry is the fact that you actually made me feel a little bit bad, talking to these people and trying to gauge their organ vitality, and then tricking them to follow you under false pretense.

Oh and thank you for making failure not take you all the way back to the start.

Great entry :star:

bardia-crunch 2023-01-14 12:00

Overall it's a really good game

I like the narrative side of it , actually getting information from the people

And it's a bit funny to me in a mission : "hi , nice weather , you drink? , haha cya" it's just so funny to me

fluri 2023-01-14 13:39

Funny game with funky looking people :) It took me a while to figure out level 6 haha. Different people would be nice and help with memory of who said what. Made it to level 9 before I was like "too many people to talk to"

roblaro 2023-01-15 17:54

Great game, dialogue was fun to get right and loved the dark chilling atmosphere. Nicely done!

toomblercazz 2023-01-22 13:18

Cool idea, fun take on the theme. Well written dialogue as well.

edgeboyo 2023-01-24 02:40

What a cool spin on the theme, I really liked this one. The ramp-up in difficulty for a Jam game was unexpected but I quickly caught on and [SPOILER COMING] that one level where you need to move everyone but that main guy was seriously inspired.

ravernt 2023-01-26 18:56

Nice game. Love the concept!

not-the-loading-screen 2023-01-27 00:27

Really Funny and well put together, I liked the graphics as well!

ciaranw 2023-01-27 00:52

Really liked the level design - there was an impressive amount of different layouts and it had a really cool retro look. The gameplay was also really cool and there was a good ramp up in terms of difficulty. I think fewer people would have been better in some of the later levels - the puzzley aspects were fun, but running around and asking people if they drink got a bit samey. Overall its a very impressive amount of content and a fun game - nice!

bloodycoin 2023-01-27 19:57

Nice concept and implementation - find the right target by "interrogating" first. That's quite a lot of dialog and logical conditions, even if it is a bit repeating.

On my playthrough I found several cases there was the one person meeting my condition requirements, but he wasn't into anything, so I couldn't get him/her to secluded location. (or I couldn't find any other people fitting demands, if there were any).

zungryware 2023-01-27 20:11

@bloodycoin

Yes, this is an intentional part of the mechanics. It becomes particularly important in level six. Thank you for playing!
