LD46 — Keep it alive

Candle in the rain by Erkberg 2020-04-26T19:38:06Z

Same as the others, I couldn't complete the tree puzzle, which makes me sad because I really wanted to see what was next. That doesn't stop this being an awesome little experience. The atmosphere of this project shines. The mix of the rain and the almost entirely grey colour scheme makes this game feel bleak, but then solving the puzzles feels almost hopeful. The slow walking and constant management of the candle is like an effective annoyance. I really like this, wish I'd been able to solve the tree :(. Great work!

Nightwatch by Neon 2020-04-26T19:53:24Z

Damn, this is one of those games where I think 'Why didn't I come up with that. I love the whole atmospheric wander through the dark feeling to it. The tapes are a nice touch too. I lit my campfire super high and then went on a big wander, but couldn't find any more tapes  The audio is super well done to fit the mood. I noticed the interactions with the sticks could be a little buggy when igniting and picking up, but other than that, a super clean and awesome game. Really good job!

EGG by inkedsplat 2020-04-26T20:35:59Z

This is such a stupid idea for a game that it's brilliant. I love it. I can see myself loading it up to play it every so often. The gameplay is simple but really quite difficult, the manual is really well done, telling the player everything they need to know without being overly detailed. The music and the visuals are, of course, amazing. This is so good. Awesome work!

Adrenaline Rush by Elmeri 2020-04-22T21:42:40Z

Love the visual style, got that goofy The Behemoth look to it. I can definitely see it being a fun set of mini games if there were a few more. Awesome little demo :)

Keep the bee (Jeez) Alive by dhim 2020-04-26T20:25:38Z

Weirdly fun gameplay for it being so random. I like the idea of physically building the shelter. Like other comments said, constraining the parts to 2D, or allowing the player to adjust the depth, maybe with a mouse scroll wheel would improve the building slightly. Other than that, cool concept. Great work!

Zealotry by TevasLiutauras 2020-04-22T22:16:55Z

I like that the gameplay has so much depth for a Jam Game, but it isn't the most intuitive. I like that the demon lord dude explains the mechanics and how to play, but I found I was focusing on trying to possess the villagers and so I would miss his explanation. Cool concept!

Storm Warden by FlashViper 2020-04-22T22:14:37Z

Love the style, and it's got that kind of gameplay where you can just turn off and play it. Definitely mobile game worthy. The audio works really well to bring the style together too. Good job!

LAIKA by m-trigo 2020-04-26T20:14:39Z

Visuals are awesome, just like the old Gameboy screens, but still looks fresh and new. The gameplay is fun and tense and I had to go straight in for another go after failing the first time. All in all, great game, even greater Babushka. :)

Bunny's guardian angel by Vatigo 2020-04-22T22:01:26Z

I like everything about this. The gameplay is super easy to pick up and fun, even when introducing something new with the traps you can learn pretty fast by just restarting and not punishing the player too much for failing. The music is really nice and the audio is cute. It could maybe use a way to give the player more time to prepare, such as a delay before the Bunny starts to run? That way the player has a bit more time to place the things they want to. Other than that, this is really well done!

souvenirs by SoarenDev 2020-04-26T20:01:53Z

I really like this. Super simple but also the most 'immersive' game I've tried out so far. Took me a while to realise how it pertained to the theme of 'Keeping It Alive' and then I remembered it's about memories. Nice music, nice audio and the visuals are exactly what they need to be, nothing more nothing less, so good job on those. In all honesty, if this was a full 'game/experience' kind of thing, I'd genuinely pay money to try it out. Really good work!

Test Project by ReeceGibbo 2020-05-03T15:39:02Z

I think it's important to talk about and highlight issues such as suicide and how people can help, however I feel the 'You failed' ending is a problem. You shouldn't pin blame or failure on anyone for this kind of thing. The 'bad endings' are going to be dark regardless what the text says, but another phrase besides 'You Failed' would be more appropriate.

That being said, about the actual game: Great job for making custom audio, the singing is aptly eerie and the voice acting is definitely worth having in the game. I think the options could even do without the 'The caller will not be comfortable' hints to make each decision more thought provoking. 'How will the other person react to what I say here' as opposed to the game telling you the answer.

The art is nice too, as simple as it needs to be for the game. Bleak too, to tie into the mood of the game.

I think it's a good project, and a good execution for the game, just with an iffy approach to a sensitive subject in the bad endings. Nice work!

The horse needs help by WhiteFox 2020-04-22T22:27:49Z

Good job on finishing the Jam! It's a neat little experience. It could benefit from giving the player more feedback, such as showing how many apples they're currently holding. Some more challenge would help too, maybe limiting how many apples the player can carry at once? I just went and picked up a lot of apples and then stood in front of the horse feeding it until help arrived. I like the music and tone of the game though, great job!

Keep Him Alive by Bulent Altinay 2020-04-26T20:40:57Z

I think the controls are good enough, maybe giving the player an in-game tutorial or demonstration would help with people's confusion. Fun gameplay, definitely has potential for more complicated puzzles. Audio is clean and the visuals work for the style of the game. Good job!

Baby on board by steambrain 2020-04-22T22:38:59Z

This game feels way funnier than it should. That probably comes down to the silly audio and simple gameplay. A little awkward but fun nonetheless!

Carrying is Caring by Vederant 2020-04-22T21:56:00Z

I'm a big fan of the graphics and the environment, but struggled to understand the gameplay. An in-game way to inform the player of the game's objectives/rules/mechanics would be a big help. There were a few bugs too, camera clipping into the ground and such. Cool style nonetheless.

The Soulkeeper by Camilo Quintero 2020-04-22T22:33:10Z

I like the gameplay, it's challenging but once I got the hang of what to do I felt like I was doing well. The Instructions were a little confusing but once I started playing I figured out the mechanics. One nitpick I have is that when you possess and object and then move it to destroy a trap, it 'unpossesses' the object, so you have to run over to it to move the object out of the path before a human walks into it. Other than that the gameplay is a nice, well executed challenge. Nice one!

Great Filter: Climate by EntropyMaximizer 2020-04-22T22:48:04Z

I like the simple style. I'll be honest I slightly skipped over the description because I didn't really understand how it translated into the gameplay. And while playing I didn't really know if I was meant to be keeping population down, or help it rise? And I also didn't understand how spending on the different areas affected the statistics.

^^^ That may all just be me being dumb.

But even after all that, I still really enjoyed it in my own confusion? You can definitely see a lot of thought has been put into it, and I loved balancing the funds with spending. I think the game has random events too which is a nice touch. The insurrection penalty is a really nice penalty too, annoying enough to make me want to balance my funds right but not so harsh that it stops the flow of gameplay.

Basically I really like this. Awesome work :D

Train by bigassopper 2020-04-26T19:25:31Z

It has enough depth and things to do to keep you on your toes. A nice focus on frantically running back and forth to keep everything working in one way or another, however I couldn't figure out some of the tasks, even with the small tutorial. Fixing the chair didn't seem to do anything and I failed multiple times until I realised there was a second furnace thing to extinguish further back in the train. It has a really cool mood, the music and pixel graphics are great for establishing that. Nice promising game concept, just a little bit confusing. Nice work :)

Cool Plants / Chill Beats by Witdarkstar 2020-04-22T22:21:06Z

Real chill vibe my dude. You got the mood down pat with the music and lighting and such. Polishing it up with cleaner UI and camera movement and it would totally be the kinda game I check in on every day to try and get fancier plants. Great job :)

Protect Egg. by devook 2020-04-26T20:20:14Z

Respect for a fellow Egg based game my dude. Real fun but also challenging, I only got 20 seconds so I think I may be bad at protecting the Egg. Music is cool and the visuals are nice and simple. I think one improvement could be giving the player a restart button or something. Once you fall off it kinda takes a while to get back into another attempt, partly due to the small cutscene at the start of each try. Other than that, super cool game, nice job!

Eggcellence by JamieOK 2020-04-21T20:00:59Z

@wizart @darksaytan Thanks for the feedback! I totally know what you mean about the hitboxes seeming too small. They were working perfectly in Unreal Engine and then when I packaged the game, the hitboxes seem to be tiny. I had no idea to how to fix it before the deadline so I had to leave it slightly broken unfortunately.

Thanks again for the comments! :)

Eggcellence by JamieOK 2020-04-28T02:04:32Z

@ditam @gamer-fates @bulent-altinay

Thanks for letting me know, I haven't used Itch.io so forgive my mistake. I think the link should be working now.

@erkberg Thanks a lot for the feedback! I had hit feedback implemented in the form of animal noises, but decided to take them out as the audio wasn't my own. Thanks again :)

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

A long day to come by tenshi42 2022-04-05T21:03:42Z

Was a little disappointed about the lack of gameplay, but in the time you had, the cutscene was still cool and got me excited for whatever the rest of the game would be :)

Sundae Driver by Juutis 2022-04-07T22:13:42Z

Quite enjoyed this one! The truck controls are the right balance of easy to use and out of control, makes for some very satisfying turns. A couple of improvements could be allowing the truck to break and slow down more easily, filling the truck with icecream after pressing E once instead of grabbing one ice cream then having to turn around to get another from the icecream shop. A simple gameplay loop made fun by wacky driving, good job :)

Dodge It by evgeney24 2022-04-07T23:02:22Z

Sadly the FPS is too slow to play properly, but the idea is there and seems promising especially to fit the theme. A bit of optimisation and polish and it could be a challenging little game :)

Nekawa by Akanthaur 2022-04-05T21:33:53Z

The art at show is good, and when mixed with the audio it's definitely a nice mood to run around in. I really like the 'twist' if you can call it that. Great work :)

Astral Abyss by Alexascher 2022-04-07T22:53:29Z

Absolutely my favourite game of the jam so far. It has a very relaxing mood but is also quite tense checking back and forth from the cheat sheet to work out which combinations create which sparks. I would say the cheat sheet could be made easier to understand but I almost see working it out as part of the charm. The visuals are very nice and polished, and the audio is subtle and really helps out with the atmosphere. Of all the games in the jam I’ve tried so far, this is one I’d love to play more of to seek out more achievements and combinations. Only critique I would give could be only having sparks combine if you let go of them while overlapping, as opposed to just when they hit, as this would prevent accidental combinations that make you restart your recipe. Other than that, it’s absolutely stellar, really great work :)

Freemine Castle by Stefan0198 2022-04-05T21:17:09Z

First game I've played this Jam that has voice acting, and some very funny dialogue at that! Very nice visuals and the main area of the level looks real cool. The games/puzzles fit nicely with the aesthetic, the honey comb level made the 'Takeshi's Castle' similarity click. Very cool project, great work :)

Student Simulator by Nejma 2022-04-05T20:58:52Z

Took me a while to notice the items on the side, and I'm still not entirely sure what effect each item causes. As mentioned above, the puzzle crumbling and becoming more faded as your stats go down is a cool take. The puzzle mechanic was simple but worked well enough, though I ran into duplicate puzzles a few times. The main menu and music were also real neat. Great work :)

3 Days At Sea by JamieOK 2022-04-05T21:45:21Z

@kingofspill I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Watching the bottles roll side to side was one of my favourite parts of testing the game :) PS, Crabulon loves you too.

3 Days At Sea by JamieOK 2022-04-05T21:46:04Z

@legolula Awesome! Really happy you liked it, and I hope you're enjoying the jam :)

3 Days At Sea by JamieOK 2022-04-05T22:07:45Z

@aflatthrasher Thanks for the feedback! I'm sure I could work out the maximum amount of days as there is only a fixed amount of water that can be found. However the game is less about surviving and more, as you said, 'seeing what happens'. There definitely could be more gameplay but as I usually fixate on gameplay during Jams, I wanted to challenge myself to focus more on the visuals of a project this time round and unfortunately the gameplay was lacking because of that.

@nikolavuk I appreciate the comment :) if I work on this project further I'll definitely adjust the boat, as another comment mentioned it being out-of-place with the rest of the assets.

3 Days At Sea by JamieOK 2022-04-09T18:16:10Z

@ludumdaredevil That is impressive, chalk that one up to me being lazy and not fool-proofing the collision around the raft. I'd like to work on a post-Ludum Dare version 2 of this and a small crosshair would definitely be on the list of things to add. Thanks for playing :)

WHEN NANA SAYS IT'S TIME FOR SCHOOL by alyd asmar 2022-04-06T17:31:23Z

Super creative project! I hadn't fully read this page before I downloaded the game so I was very surprised when I opened the folder and there was no .exe to see! I was a little apprehensive while reading through the rules but once I dove in and started looking around the 'room' it started to make sense. The dimensional backpack was a cool mechanic, even though I threw almost everything I could in there in case it was useful later (just like in regular videogames!) The most interesting part was getting to a scene with a lot of 'IF' files and finding out my previous exploration had/hadn't paid off. The small pieces of audio and art add a lot to a project like this, so they were appreciated. The only critique I would make could be having less files of individual items and more general descriptions of each room/area? Just so there are less text files to open, skim through a line then close. Definitely the most creative game I've played so far in the jam, great work to all involved :)

WHEN NANA SAYS IT'S TIME FOR SCHOOL by alyd asmar 2022-04-09T11:22:48Z

@fae-pdf That's all totally fair! I hope my feedback didn't come off as complaining because I really enjoyed the project. Now that I think about it, your point about the 'look around' picture definitely solves one of the points I made, I think I opened that image in the middle of my playthrough and closed it soon after. Keeping it up to use as a general description of the areas would definitely have helped, whoops, my bad :D again, great project, have great day :)

The Assessment by Okamit 2022-04-06T16:57:40Z

This is great! The art is super polished and nice to look at, the audio works great too for a humorous minigame project. The minigames themselves work perfectly and would be at home in any minigame-style full length project. There were also enough minigames and levels of difficulty that made them feel FRESH even if you'd played that minigame previously. Really impressive, great work :)

Lost In Space by PSV Games Studio 2022-04-05T21:40:01Z

Very cute robot + spherical world to run around = a nifty project. The graphics are nice and clearly polished down to the motion blur and skybox. Great work :)

Planet Hopper by Adam Gallina 2022-04-07T23:17:23Z

Nice amount of multitasking required between fighting off the enemies and gathering resources to progress! The key to mining could possibly be moved from something other than E, just so the player can strafe to the right as well as mining at the same time. Nice variation of enemies and upgrades too though, good work :)

Everybody stay calm! by mostel 2022-04-07T23:07:00Z

Very cute art style and audio, especially when interacting with the koalas :D A few more mechanics would go a long way but what is there currently is promising. Great work :)

Paddle Panic 🚣‍♂️😱 by Marlon 2022-04-07T22:20:15Z

Simple idea and well executed with the art and audio. The speed at which you need to paddle feels too difficult and could definitely do with being made slightly easier. The mechanic of filling the boat with air and patching holes is great and adds a nice level of multitasking to the game. As mentioned by other people, being able to skip through the tutorial faster or quickly restart would be nice to. Really cool looking project, nice work :)

Gravity Is Inevitable by pixelbrain 2022-04-06T17:38:41Z

Very fun game! The gameplay is simple to pickup but there are some extra details that allow for improvement, like bouncing off the walls or the moving grapple points. My only critique would be the targeting of the points feels a bit harsh sometimes, as I felt it would grapple a point but didn't. I think this could be solved simply by adding some feedback to any points you're hovering over/near to show you'll grapple it when clicked. Other than that, really fun game, well done :)

Sea Level by CarrotVan 2022-04-07T22:52:05Z

Bit difficult to work out, I'd failed about 4 times before I saw the inventory/crafting menu. The game has nice visuals and a funny story to be thrown into. I think more of a tutorial on what actions can be taken and what causes the player to lose (using up all their energy) would make the learning curve and objective clearer.

Human Resource by Tieran 2022-04-05T18:10:47Z

Great work, and congratulations to the first time game devs! A simple gameplay loop but it had a bit of challenge (I could do my tasks plenty quick but kept running into the boss without looking.) The background music was nice and the shaded outlines of the models look interesting. Only improvements I would suggest are tidying up the tutorial screen slightly, and maybe making the player's start position more obvious at the beginning (I had to move around a little before I realised which employee I was.)

JAM HERO by ludovic-moge 2022-04-07T22:27:57Z

Took me a minute to figure out what I was doing and how to move people but once I did, had a lot of fun with it! Like other comments mention it was a little chaotic to try and work out. Some of the positions you can place the developers also result in their stats going off-screen which is unfortunate. I really like the art style and the audio is nice too. Super funny game and very meta, especially with the random events and comments after the 'game' has been released. Really great work :)

LD53 — Delivery

Far Isles Postal Service by AidanMarkham 2023-05-03T21:18:48Z

Above comment is right, this has loads of potential. I unfortunately got stuck up on the edge of an island and couldn't figure out how to reset as I hadn't gotten to $500 but I was looking forward to earning more. Only criticism would be that the boat moves just as fast going backwards as forwards, which is useful but feels a bit off as you don't need to turn as much. Would love to see this developed further. Brilliant work!

You crane do it! by crazyrems 2023-05-03T20:29:00Z

Nice little game! I switched to controller as the keyboard controls looked a little awkward but the controller felt nice. I feel like the audio could be toned down a little, was slightly intense. Other than that, had fun with it and a couple of the deliveries had me laughing. Good job!

Caretaker of the Scrap-Valley by fusionnist 2023-05-02T20:08:59Z

I think 'Find the crafting recipe' is one of the best directions for a Jam game to go and this game shows that perfectly. Charming and funny in the intro and then some really addictive gameplay to follow. I could feel myself losing track of timing planning out what items I needed and why. I wanted to sit there for ages to find all the necessary components but after two resets I felt like I was getting soft-locked through being unable to find the components I needed for the last few crafts. I'd love if there is/was a way to ensure enough components are spawned that are needed to craft everything. One of the best games I've played so far this Jam, really great work

International Relief Corps by CharlesE 2023-05-02T20:03:35Z

Nice jam, the 'Sign Here' UI button was real charming. The controls threw me for a second as it's WASD but always in the direction of the camera? I think it would feel nicer if it was one scheme or the other. Voice acting on the NPCs was a nice surprise and so was stumbling across the settlement

Space loader Tim 49 by thetatautau 2023-05-10T12:45:31Z

This might be one of my favourite games I've played in a jam, enjoyed this more than I should've  the gameplay is deceptively simple but after the first few shipments I realised I was going to have to start planning. And then when the ramp appeared I was super excited to try and set up a stack. I then failed multiple times to stack. Dialogue from the captain is a nice bit of comedy too. Visually I think it looks great for what it is, though I'm a sucker for stylised shading. My single complaint is that there were some physics bugs with the boxes clipping into each other and launching, which ruined some of my progress and caused my first lost cargo. I'd love to see more of this, especially if the physics issue could be ironed out. Brilliant work though, I loved this!

The Souls Express by antvelm 2023-05-10T12:25:14Z

Absolutely beautiful vibes. I felt a bit lost on what to do until I went back and re-read this page. The scenery and characters look incredible, the inspiration for the scene coming through really well. The movement felt just a TAD too slow as I liked to wander back and forth on the train while waiting. A bit of randomisation and differing dialogue lines from the passengers may have felt nice but definitely doesn't detract. Again, absolutely gorgeous game, nice work!

Postman Parcel Panic by J0ye 2023-05-11T12:32:32Z

This is great! Simple gameplay but gets hectic real fast as you fill up the board. I love the music too, very bouncy and exciting as I'm frantically searching for an arrow to avoid the oncoming wall of doom I placed only minutes ago. Great work!

R&D (Research & Delivery) by thormoth 2023-05-04T12:27:51Z

I enjoyed that! It was a little difficult even from the start, feels like the time it takes for Producers to start breaking should be a little later or happen less frequently at earlier Sols. I didn't notice the scientist I bought really doing anything? It would be helpful to be able to cancel an order or have another delivery station, as I found myself ordering coffee and then immediately needing parts after a Producer broke, and having to wait until the coffee arrived made it almost impossible to stay on top of things. Loved the sprite animations too, the welding mask while repairing is awesome. Nice work!

License To Serve by No Grapes Games 2023-05-02T18:53:53Z

Disclaimer: I couldn't get the 'cheat' to work so only saw up to that point, sorry!

Very nice art, love the combination of serious and cute, got the anime-style influence down tight, even the faceless 'extra' characters being questioned. The music is real nice too. The only thing that took me out was the clues at each location seemed be the same 'category' each time you travelled, so if you cycle through the locations, each person basically says the same line with a slight change. The lines could be randomised for each location? Great concept and really solid execution, first VN-puzzle game I've played in a jam! :)

Cart Delivery by zimny11 2023-05-02T18:30:38Z

Had a lot of fun with this! As my first attempt ended I thought 'That was some goofy fun' but when I saw the information about all the items I'd lost I knew I'd be trying plenty more times. Great example of a jam done well :) Only feedback is that it would be nice if the cursor change to show if you were actually hovering over an item, or if the 'hitboxes' were a tiny bit more lenient.

Moonshot by Koolruz 2023-05-03T20:02:00Z

Absolutely solid entry, most polished game I've played so far this jam. Really good job getting so many levels in, I kept expecting it to end and then a new mechanic would be introduced, difficulty felt super balanced too. Last couple of levels took a few tries and felt really satisfying to pull off the more complex movements. Audio and graphics are simple but fit perfectly. Brilliant work.

An Ocean Planet by JamieOK 2023-05-02T20:29:39Z

@wompus Thanks for the feedback! Some very valid points there, especially about the text being difficult to focus on around the sphere. Really appreciate it

@marco-schneider Thanks! The feeling of the ship was about the only thing that went right this weekend haha

An Ocean Planet by JamieOK 2023-05-02T21:04:47Z

@drazil100 Thanks for trying it out! I've had a go at packaging for Linux and I've added a new download link to the Itch.io page. I'd appreciate if you let me know if it works? Thanks for all the other feedback though

That time I got to help my father in his new garage by Seraphyi 2023-05-10T12:14:42Z

Pixelly graphics and animation are real nice, audio is impactful, concept is... relatable  couldn't tell until reading these comments that you can reset the toolbox if the correct tool isn't there, that bit in the tutorial could be a bit clearer. Cool little jam, if a bit dark. Nice job!

Supply Sprint by Mololo 2023-05-03T20:10:04Z

Nicely done, good touch having different types of cargo for the different levels, actually means needing to change the way you play if you're trying to 100% different levels. The small fruit in the 3rd level seemed to be able to pop through where the back tire connects to the vehicle? That was the only issue I noticed. Other than that, fun time

A very ini tiny mini mail turtle game by Boeruchan 2023-05-03T21:02:31Z

Besides a couple of bugs which have been mentioned in other comments, cute little game. Graphics are cute, I could see it working great as an educational game in some way. Nice work

T.I.M.E by bqq 2023-05-11T12:48:40Z

Well that was very charming. I love the room-to-room visual style and it looked great in 3D. The dialogue was funny and didn't get in the way, multiple enemy types and cooldowns on the spells felt balanced enough. The puzzle element with the braziers was more intuitive than I expected, after the first time I used the wind spell into the fire. Same with the rooms you have to solve once the fireball spell is removed, nice work. Great entry, glad to have spent my T.I.M.E with it!

Drive! Express Girl! 閃耀,速達少女! by Moonblast 2023-05-02T19:00:21Z

Well that was one of the stranger games I've downloaded but it was interesting  10/10 would listen to the Amazon girl say 'Refuel my car' over and over again!

Per My Last Bullet, by HexyVexy 2023-05-04T12:12:58Z

That was uhhhh, really amazing! Graphics are absolutely gorgeous, took a second to admire the background before I talked to the Director. Gameplay was nice and satisfying, especially the shotgun (I just kept using it even after getting the machine gun.) Audio was great too, the elevator music was a nice touch and I appreciate being able to move around in the elevator during those little sections. Loved the reference when climbing the elevator shaft too, had me laughing. Amazing work getting it this polished for a jam game, played real good!

Super Buffed Delivery Service by josep93 2023-05-02T19:11:14Z

Yeah this was hilarious, truly didn't know what to expect and it was better than anything I could have hoped for. 'E to parry enemies (important)' and 'Speed: Enough' will live rent-free in my head for weeks so, thanks for that. Absolutely brilliantly funny game, thank you

Museum Exhibits by asasin56 2023-05-03T21:28:02Z

I didn't really know what was going on, audio was quite unclear but I was definitely tense while trying to figure out if/what was happening to the exhibits :open_mouth:

The 50 Deliveries by Alexsandro 2023-05-02T18:44:27Z

Hey, nice work on the jam! The gameplay felt a little slow for me, especially as I got around 40-50 seconds where no deliveries were showing up, just things to jump over. Could be worth looking into ways to ensure the level doesn't generate any long stretches of 'empty' areas. I like the music a lot, does well to fit the spooky mood.

Slime Express by DurkaGames 2023-05-04T17:58:12Z

Cool concept, I was thinking there was no reason to do anything other than the rolling ability until I got to the second level, but when I stuck with the crawling ability, the snail went upside down underneath the level and got stuck. Couldn't reset the level or quit out unfortunately? Graphics look really good though, animated snail and background during the intro was very surprising, nice work!

Shiver Deliver by CO5MONAUT 2023-05-03T20:56:21Z

I'll preface this by saying I hate horror games, but I thought this was cool! The audio and post-processing did well to set a creepy mood which made me nervous to walk around. It did take me a bit to figure out how to open doors. I also couldn't figure out if there was a way to avoid *the thing* or if the game was meant to end where it did. Very spooky either way, nice work!

Syntech Surfer by Xandruher 2023-05-05T12:39:02Z

Gorgeous sci-fi scene and the music is great to pull it all together. Like other comments, I feel the movement could be improved some, such as the player not losing momentum as fast when the boost runs out, and the turning feeling a bit more responsive. Gaining/losing speed when going down/up sand banks too. Art-style is really nice though and the character models are real good for a jam project. Great work

KnighToad by Wild-Babou 2023-05-05T12:26:21Z

Impeccable frog vibes. Music was a transcendent experience and I waited in glee for the croak every time. Gameplay was nice and fun, throwing Jonathoad around to solve puzzles was great. I think the movement speed of the Knight could be toned down some, it was a little hard to control accurately especially as there were some platforming sections. Killing the enemies with Jonathoad was quite inconsistent too, a lot of the time he slightly touched the ground and then didn't kill the enemies. Graphics were great, nice work!

Lexicon by John Kisner 2023-05-03T12:28:41Z

One of the most unique games I've played in a jam I think? Took a while to get used to it but the gameplay is super interesting and engaging, as you're actually memorising the words with each try just like an alien linguist  my only criticism would be it's quite difficult? I couldn't tell when or why it was failing me sometimes and it was frustrating to have to do every delivery and click through the tutorial messages each time, maybe if you fail it just causes you to retry that particular level? Other than that, I'm a huge fan of this, nice work!

Don't Send Me a Puddle by eieio 2023-05-05T12:20:33Z

Really unique idea and great execution. The weightiness of the ice means you can set up some cool jumps to solve the puzzles. The tutorial jumps you straight into the game too which works great for a jam project. The 'Disable Tutorials' checkbox is a nice touch too, as I immediately reset for another go and was pleasantly surprised to see I went straight into proper levels. Great work!

Witch Brunnette by joao-marcello 2023-05-04T17:51:50Z

Nice and polished, I think a lot of the criticisms I have are covered in other comments, such as not being able to turn around very easily to shoot bats. I also found it awkward that touching the ground slowed down your momentum, which happened a lot when I lowered to grab the mushrooms. The gameplay loop was simple and easy to pick up and the inclusion of a leaderboard fit in really well. Great work!

HOTARU - Guider of Souls by SkuLLyY 2023-05-04T18:19:00Z

Nice little jam game. Checkpoints would be a huge improvement for me as it's very punishing to be sent all the way back to the start. The jumping is a bit awkward, a little bit of air control would feel nicer. Good work

Mailure To Launch by drainkid 2023-05-03T20:22:50Z

Had a LOT of fun with that, different enemy types and projectiles kept it feeling fresh too. Art-style and the props (including the drones) were super cute. Love the chaotic energy of the deliveree, especially 'Sorry to do this to you again' implying this isn't the first time this has happened??? Great work!

Westwick Street by niz 2023-05-03T12:10:03Z

Really enjoyed that, the bright lighting and art-style of the houses at the start of the street lulled me into a false sense of security which made things a lot spookier when certain *things* started to appear :open_mouth:

The last help by Linkway 2023-05-03T12:01:32Z

Cute game (until it wasn't :open_mouth: ) audio sounded nice, if a little bit loud, mainly the jump sound. I liked the progression of story talking to more people, it was more than I expected from first impressions. Nice work

Hemophilia by Roomy 2023-05-04T18:02:50Z

Bug report: After dying and resetting, any bullets currently on screen stick around and can hit after restarting in the first room. Isn't too much of an issue due to the 1 health heal per room but just thought I'd note it. Cool game, I agree with others in that it feels quite Binding of Isaac-esque, in all the good ways. Graphics are nice. Great work :)

Mail! by EthernalStudio 2023-05-02T18:36:29Z

The flying feels nice and weighty, though I agree it could do with being sped up a bit. The controls felt a little disjointed, A and D for turning felt like they were the wrong way round. Pitch being controlled by W and S but Yaw being controlled by the Mouse threw me off, they might feel more intuitive if both are on the same device. I liked the music too, fit the mood of gliding around the city nicely :)

Schrodingor's Cat by screaml 2023-05-03T21:25:03Z

Simple gameplay but cool little game  I'm not sure what the red things are but you can keep rolling in and out to 'refresh' the circle. (I'm assuming you lose if you the circle fills up fully, I didn't get to that point.) Cool animation at the end though, I was happy to see the cat alive until... Nice work!

Package Parkour by Freakman 2023-05-05T12:34:24Z

Nice learning curve to this, I'm a big fan of parkour and movement in games and this definitely feels nice to move around in. The UI arrows to show your next destination were sometimes hard to find at first, or confusing where they were pointing to. One of the delivery points, a big yellow tower on the wall seemed to want me to throw into the hole but the delivery point was actually on the top of the tower. Fun game though, think I'll come back to this for another play sometime. Nice job!

LD55 — Summoning

Lime's Labyrinth by Turncoda 2024-04-17T11:59:53Z

Fun idea with the turn-based summoning, it feels like chess or other similar board games. I have to say it feels a bit too hard  the enemy pathfinding is good enough to follow you perfectly, and often times the delay in drawing a circle then moving means an enemy is standing on your circle, which stops you from summoning help. A fun idea and quick to replay, just wish I was able to get a bit further

C.R.T. - Companion Recall Technology by AffinityChris 2024-04-28T18:14:02Z

Just a bit too tough even on the first level. Using different companions is an interesting concept but a few tweaks to the abilities and level design (longer platforms on the first chimney section) might make things less frustrating right off the bat. Cool ideas though, nice job!

Unstable by Tomáš Selmeci 2024-04-20T22:58:40Z

Couldn't figure out what I was doing at the start until I ended up typing into the research station. Love the 'automatic coding' mechanic that felt more engaging than other 'wait for your money to come in' mechanics used by similar games. I don't know if the security mechanisms did anything or were required? Cool little project though!

Ritual Road by FreshD 2024-04-28T18:29:25Z

Got a great mood to it, the audio combined with the visuals. Eerie lighting and I'm a sucker for the pixel style. Would love if it ended up with a gameplay loop but there's clearly some awesome intention with this so I enjoyed it regardless. Nice one!

Wake The Dreamer by massivejack 2024-04-17T11:53:07Z

I love this a lot! Aquarium fish game + eldritch horror isn't a combination I was expecting but it's great! The audio is nice and eerie and it's visually, very nice. A small improvement for the tutorial would be that it requires you to complete certain steps before skipping that message? Or it skips the message automatically when you complete that step, to give a bit of feedback that you've done the right thing. I also couldn't figure out a way to cancel my invocation if I accidentally picked 'Pray' instead of 'Feed', and pressing more buttons just added more sigils. A button that clears/resets which sigils you have selected would be nice. Awesome result though, super cool game

The Shadow Realm Saga by EvilScotsman 2024-04-20T23:39:12Z

Love the visual style, the models for both the player and the enemies are very clean. The feel of the player character is nice too. Would have loved a little more to the gameplay as it felt quite easy to just kite the skeletons for 60 seconds, but what is there feels super good. Great work!

Summoning for Dummies by erebrus 2024-04-20T23:49:19Z

Lovely little game and looks super cute. I unfortunately couldn't complete the big ritual due to performance issues as more and more minions followed me and tanked the frames. I enjoyed it nonetheless, great job!

Bad Rooms by kjscott 2024-04-28T17:55:50Z

Very simple, easy to jump into and immediately fun! Embedded into the page is wonderfully convenient and ran like a dream. Enough depth with switching between various spells to where I had a couple of games and enjoyed each one more than the last. Great work!

Ars Goetia by Nekuake 2024-04-20T21:50:40Z

This game is GORGEOUS. I love the visuals. The gameplay is super interesting, especially the mechanic that makes you stronger being the very thing that brings more enemies into the fray. The difficulty scaling feels a little off, as I got to the point where I had enough damage to essentially one shot the minions spawning, which meant I would just spam buy more sigils, which would spawn more minions I would instakill, and so on. (My game started freezing and the sheer amount of minions spawning :joy: ) Other than the difficulty issue, I think this is incredible! Super solid result for a jam and the most polished game I've played so far. Amazing work!

The Sorcerat by JamieOK 2024-04-20T23:53:20Z

@ned-murry I was hoping to get some more puzzles in but alas, time-limits. Having multiple flags to split the rats up was also on my list of ideas but ultimately it got cut, cool that you had the same idea! Thanks for playing

@someone Thanks for the feedback! The boss 'fight' was very much a last minute, slapped together encounter to wrap the game up. (and also to use my Ludum Dare mascot, Crabulon)

Against the Titan by CodeRaurus 2024-04-20T23:10:38Z

This is awesome! Works brilliantly as a rhythm game and the visuals look great to support it. Honestly not a single fault with this, great work!

Final Chants by chybby 2024-04-20T23:34:04Z

Gorgeous visuals, I'm a sucker for the pixelated look. Very nearly quit as I just WASN'T fast enough to complete the maze and moving block time trials quick enough, but luckily found the other route to get the speed spirit. Everything was smooth sailing from there so my only feedback would be to make the ledge where the speed spirit is found a little more noticeable. Other than that, awesome game and really glad I stuck with it!

Idle Hands by Saryah 2024-04-17T11:43:33Z

Fun concept with demons being generic workers for hire, and the forgetful Old Man dialogue got a laugh out of me. I did keep getting the same event with the Old Man and memory pills, not sure if there were others or I just got unlucky? Cool idea though, nice work :)

Star to Dust by Chii 2024-04-28T18:08:31Z

Just a nice little fun time  I spent a few minutes delicately placing stars of various sizes before I hit the 'Galaxy' button before spamming it to see the stars get smaller and smaller. A strangely calming and artistic entry, thanks for making it!

BLOOD DRIVE!! by Saffwong 2024-04-20T22:50:01Z

Yoooo, this is sick! The steering feels just heavy enough where you have to plan your turning arcs while also keeping an eye out for the cops. Audio was a hilarious bonus. Great work!

Part-Time Familiar by MatthewDrake 2024-04-20T22:34:06Z

Not the kind of thing I usually play but I was pleasantly surprised  Surprisingly well-written for a jam story and I was really happy to find the stories began intersecting. The little context highlights on words like 'Familiar' and 'Soulsea' is something I've never seen before but hope I see more of! It reduced the need for obvious exposition. The branching of the story worked real well, with events referencing each other consistently. Serious props for this!

Voiceborne by Blues 2024-04-28T18:01:13Z

Took a minute to figure out how to do anything, a small tutorial showing how to generate ether and then summon would have been nice. After that, this is a cool submission! First Ludem Dare game I've played that uses voice activation for gameplay so very unique, great job!

Literally me by TPace 2024-04-20T22:43:29Z

This felt like an art piece in all the best ways. I wasn't able to create much myself, between getting used to the types of items and the inventory limit, but I can see from @untitled-studios comment above how creative you could get with some time! Poetry in such a visually harsh form comes across with extra meaning, so I found this game weirdly profound. Brilliant work, I already know this one is going to stick with me.

Apprentice Binder by andriybyelikov 2024-04-20T21:35:40Z

Love the visuals and the summoning puzzle loop was cool! Took a few tries to get the 2nd last level but got there eventually. I don't know if that cards go into your hand in a random order but I had a few cases where the cards it gave me simply weren't enough to make it up a wall. Wish there were a few more levels to enjoy, great job!

Dark World by Diadem Games 2024-04-17T12:06:54Z

Short and sweet! I love the loop of dodging attacks while repositioning the lights, and it felt super intuitive. Only thing that took me a second to realise was how the light damaged/shrunk the enemies, maybe a bit more feedback on that would make it clearer. Also the simple monochrome visuals totally work, especially with the theme of light versus dark. Great job!

Summoner's Tower by willhoit 2024-04-20T21:18:57Z

Had a few issues with block types changing or being placed when trying to pan or rotate the camera. Would be a little easier to control without the overlapping controls. First game I've ever played embedded on the Ludum Dare page so that's cool! I agree with one of the older comments that the randomised chance of removing parts of your tower feels a bit rough, but I guess using different block types is just a different types of skill expression.

Amazon-Void by Bex2499 2024-04-20T21:26:58Z

Great first jam! Endless runners are a real solid choice for game jams and your mechanic of building the path ahead of you gives it that unique spin. Some of the visuals clashed a bit, with a lot white outlines around things. The animation on the player gave me a laugh. Nice work!

Type My Name by Danigabe 2024-04-28T18:25:12Z

Veeery full of style from the main menu. Love the art style and the gameplay is simple but hectic. Big fan of the transition from easy names to more complicated strings. Brilliant submission, great work!

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Azulina's Night of Sprites and Fright by ryusui 2024-10-17T20:18:35Z

It gives me big memories of the old Toy Story games on Playstation, both in terms of setting and visuals. The flight mechanic feels nice especially with the timing and distance between obstacles in the room. I feel like the invisibility could use a little more feedback, such as when you first activate it and when the time is about to run out. After aggro'ing the patrolling giant and 'losing it' by hiding, the music continued to play as if I was still being chased, so I couldn't tell if I was safe to exit the hiding place, though that could be a bug. All things considered, a really great entry. Would collect sprites again, nice work!

Little Pecker by Rohun 2024-10-16T17:22:59Z

Shocked this doesn't have more comments yet. This is brilliant! Extremely polished and effective, it works amazingly as a bite-sized game (peck sized? I dunno). Super impressed, really great work and hope you all enjoyed the jam!

C.R.A.B. (Crustacean Rapid Action BattleForce) by StrangerYann 2024-10-17T20:27:35Z

A fellow crab appreciator! This was really good! The additional sawblade and cannon weapons were fun, the breakable sandcastle terrain was cute and also enjoyable. I was even surprised at there being a second level, proves you were able to get a lot done in the time of the jam. I can see a lot more potential with this; more weapons, movement based upgrades, stuff like that. Brilliant work, hope you enjoyed the jam!

Animal Golfing by Andreadbx 2024-10-10T18:21:14Z

This is brilliant! Extremely polished, really fun and the game-feel is awesome. The physics of the golfing feels just right for the goofy animal vibe of the game, making it real fun to full power swing and send the ball to use the animal powers to adjust. Funny vocal sound effects are always appreciated and fit the mood very well. My only two suggestions would be: Locking the aiming of the ball while charging power. A few times I would slightly nudge the mouse while I was holding left click. Secondly, increasing the sensitivity of camera rotation. There were times I would hit the ball hard and high to try and get over a mountain, but I couldn't see what was below me due to the camera rotation and lag being a little bit slow. Other than that, an absolutely amazing submission. Great work!

Meow Moew by m3t4 2024-10-16T17:27:18Z

This is cool! I like the unexpected depth of power-ups that actually buff the enemies if they collect them. Not something I've seen in many games. The rat controls are heavy and slidey but certainly in a good way for this game. And the menu music of course is top notch. Great work!

Colony by Arscene 2024-10-17T20:49:36Z

Really interesting presentation with the cards and windows. Feels very nice to click, drag and pop the cards around. The slow introduction of each card is very helpful, from hatching to exploring to laying and so on. I found there was a bit of a 'death spiral' that could occur, mainly caused by a healthy creature becoming exhausted or starving while in the 'lay' window and therefore, not producing an egg at the end. I also wasn't sure what to do with an exhausted creature to fix it, besides leaving them somewhere which felt like wasting time. Overall, a great game concept and executed very well, I think I'm just bad at it :joy:

Cat-tastrophe by rsheepdv 2024-10-16T18:12:31Z

Very cute tiny creatures and a satisfying gameplay loop. My main complaint would be, tossing a cat pulls the player out of the aiming mode, which means to throw multiple cats you have to aim, throw, aim, throw etc. I think it would be satisfying to aim and machine-gun throw all the cats you've collected up to that point. I also had an issue where, throwing a cat while calling with spacebar would cause the thrown cat to stop in mid-air and fall back to the ground. Regardless, this was a fun and cute entry and I hope you enjoyed the jam!

Camouflage Garage by Hammy0212 2024-10-16T17:47:52Z

Visuals are real nice and fit this kind of cutesy theme real well. I found it a little hard to aim and actually hit the flies, despite the aiming reticle. However I did enjoy the grappling and launching. I almost wish the level was larger to allow more freedom of movement. Cool entry, hope you enjoyed the jam!

Autopsy Center Simulator by Roroto Sic 2024-10-17T20:08:02Z

I'm a big fan of the 'cause of death' puzzle aspect, and the game looks and feels great with the gameboy-esque visuals. I would almost say it veers a little too hard into the aesthetic, making some elements a bit hard to read, like the insects being separate from the incisions made with the scalpel. The audio is very fitting, creepy and simple. Great work, hope you enjoyed the jam!

RPigG by WeirdBitGames 2024-10-10T19:01:02Z

A very unique and original idea. It definitely brings to mind Balatro in the way it puts a spin on an existing game. I had to look in the description of the Itch page to figure out that spacebar would advance the little piggy, as I don't think that info was present in the tutorial. Other than that, it was quick enough to figure out the gameplay loop and start slaying monsters. Great work!

Cosmic Themes by AweSkyBear 2024-10-10T18:27:45Z

A cool little experience  I got a bit of an introspective confusion from it, wondering if I was somehow killing the 'tiny creatures' just by watching the game play out. Of course that was answered with a yes after pressing the big red button :joy: Hope you enjoyed the jam, nice work!

Tripping Hazard by Pigeonescu 2024-10-16T18:23:15Z

Intro cutscene definitely had me laughing. I can respect any game born from a cursed instagram feed. I liked the 2D weapons in a 3D scene, it felt Doom or Quake-esque. The gunplay could definitely use a bit more feedback, as I felt the player's movement speed was a lot slower once inside the basket compared to the speed in the intro, which was a bit disappointing. A cool and trippy entry, hope you enjoyed the jam!

Creature Stealer by Lussard Studio 2024-10-10T18:01:17Z

Visuals are lovely and the spritework is super cute for the theme. The gameplay was definitely a bit hard to get working, between hitboxes and out-of-place invisible walls in the streets. Interesting idea too, nice work!

Slime Tower by Just a dev 2024-10-17T20:41:08Z

Slimy! There are a lot of small details I really appreciate in this that are worth pointing out. The 'bottom' slime having a shadow when jumping makes it a lot easier to know where you're going to land, especially when the aim of the game is landing on slimes. The tall stack of slimes isn't too visually distracting, partly due to the camera zooming out as the stack increases. Really great job on those, they're a big bonus towards the game feel being so nice. Fun, quick and simple, this is a big win as a jam game. Great job!

Tiny Spider's Adventure!!! by Rhysss 2024-10-16T17:58:08Z

Extremely cute art for this game, I adored the intro cutscene and end-credits art. In terms of gameplay, I got a little lost at points, unable to find the next slime enemies. Some indicators at the edge of the screen could help with guidance and shouldn't be too intrusive visually. Maybe having a small amount of player movement outside of the grapple would be useful, as I sometimes found I would get trapped too close to a wall and not have any good angles to grapple to so I could get around that wall. Other than those few suggestions, this entry was awesome! Hope you all enjoyed the jam!

Tiny Fallk by Anekich 2024-10-17T20:33:33Z

Ridiculously cute game, love the little critters. It's a cool implementation of the 'playing god' genre. Unfortunately I wasn't able to collect the water drop, as clicking the leaf just made the water run to the end of the leaf again without dropping. Awesome entry regardless, nice work!

Critter Capture by TheXRLorax 2024-10-17T20:55:42Z

Lovely little game, I only wish the creatures were tinier! Jokes aside, great job. It's short and sweet but the critter roledex images at the end make it worth it. I had to do a few playthroughs to realise I was missing the water critter but I got it in the end. Hope you enjoyed the jam!

Daredevil Ant by unloosed 2024-10-16T18:02:58Z

The game started very suddenly and I immediately game over'd  I agree with some of the other comments in that the hitboxes felt a little harsh, causing a fail if the ant hadn't actually touched the water droplet. I do like the scoring system being based on time spent under the droplets, rather than just a basic 'don't get hit' challenge. Great work!

LD59 — Signal

Pioneer, Arecibo, Voyager by JamieOK 2026-04-23T18:48:12Z

@beastpanda and @acartlidge Thank you so much for the feedback! I fully agree with you both about the gameplay. I was hoping to get a bit more depth in the 'catch and decode signal' part of the game, with more mini games to decode, translate, etc after catching the signal. Alas, didn't have as much free time to work on the jam as I'd hoped. You know how it is  Thanks for playing!

Per Signum by apoly 2026-04-30T18:28:07Z

Had a lot of fun with this! I particularly like the randomness of the drones and where the combat units choose to move. It adds a bit of uncontrollable chaos on top of the strategy of choosing what to spawn each round. I expected the Booster to increase the range of pylons spawned by drones, so the drones and boosters felt like they kinda performed the same task without much difference. The audio was a bit repetitive, some slight variation on each shot sound might help dial that back a bit. Overall, a real cool submission, great work!

Stray Flare by The Spinning Sofa 2026-04-22T18:53:31Z

I like the mood of this a lot. The audio, character models, and drawn cutscene at the end all work nicely to make me wonder what's going on in this area. The mechanics/gameplay felt a little flat, I think because the white flare didn't feel super necessary for avoiding the red hands, it might've felt better if it lasted longer and the animation for firing it was shorter? The only time the red hands ever caught me was when they were mostly hidden behind the 2d sprite bushes and I walked into them without even knowing they were there. Other than that, a very nice submission for the jam. Great job!

Outcry by ACartlidge 2026-04-30T18:42:52Z

Took a hot minute for me to get the loop but then it started to make sense. I had a few out-trades that felt incorrect, possibly as a collision issue? Many times that I was attempting to make a trade, all of the traders faces were flashing red as if I was highlighting them all in sequence. The gameplay is definitely unique and impressive for a jam. I like the interpretation of the theme too. Even the mid-day dialogue had me cracking a smile. Great work!

SILENTIUM by Shram 2026-04-22T19:22:04Z

This is a really complete and fleshed out submission. There is definitely some inspiration/similarities to Pacific Drive, if Pacific Drive was made in a weekend  My only criticisms would be audio missing whenever the player crashes the car, and the ending (maybe) bugged out for me? I reached the signal source, saw a frame of a guy standing in the building, and then everything just went blurry and smear framey. All in all, a very polished product for the time. Great work!
