So stylish! Love the art and the title font/instruction screens. Motion is great lots of detail in the scenes and the sound is really good too. Wish there was more and a lil story. Might help to lock the mouse to the screen bounds since mine kept popping out when I was shaking it. Thanks!

literal-games 2020-04-22 21:33

Great art and sound! You can see where it gets its inspiration from but it's super stylish! If there were more levels, either mashed up or with a connecting narrative I would rate this very highly instead of pretty highly. Great job!

theothersamp 2020-04-22 21:40

Visually this is impressive. The art is nice and characterful, and the roaming camera and swaying objects makes it feel dynamic even when it's actually fairly static. Very efficient. The selfie pose after the character gets shocked got a laugh from me.

The music's nice, but the siren starts to get annoying after a while.

The controls are a bit frustrating, but I take it that that's intentional.

quillwerth 2020-04-22 21:41

You've got the WarioWare feel here, and the game looks cohesive and is pleasant to play. The control explanations at the beginning are snazzy and well-presented. Definitely a great start! With the right improvements (a way to lose, more mini-games) this could be a great pass-the-control game for parties.

Love the visual style, got that goofy The Behemoth look to it. I can definitely see it being a fun set of mini games if there were a few more. Awesome little demo :)

airola 2020-04-22 21:43

I agree with the first comment that the mouse cursor should be locked to the screen bounds when the game is not on a full screen mode. It was hard to play the second minigame because the cursor was somewhere way off the screen when I was supposed to click the mouse. Once I realized to put it on full screen it helped.

ristoretto 2020-04-22 22:17

This was very impactful! I like the detail of how the sprites parallax from the background. I’m a big wario ware fan, and want to play more of it :)

yxmx-rsx 2020-04-22 22:53

That was fun! You guys nailed the feel. The siren sound definitely adds to the game. I think a timer would help. Overall it's a nice game, short and sweet good job!

damienp 2020-04-23 16:30

@peterfiftyfour @airola Thanks for the screen bounds suggestion; we tried that at one point but found it frustrating not being able to exit the game with the mouse, so we didn’t investigate further…

@literal-games @quillwerth @jamieok Thank you :) We intentionally limited the scope to two mini-games in order not to burn out during the week-end, but we sure would have liked to add more! We had ideas for crew responsible of rotating the emergency light with a hand-crank and washing hands at lightning speed, all while driving the ambulance to avoid causing more accidents…

@theothersamp Thanks! I’ve got to admit I laughed a lot myself while working on the game. The controls are awkward but hey, have you ever given an adrenaline shot while in a moving vehicle? :D

@ristoretto The parallax is totally fake, just the foreground moving around randomly. But you’re right, it gives the scene much more depth!

@yxmx-rsx Thank you :)

quillwerth 2020-04-23 18:52

@damienp funny you should mention powering a light with a hand-crank... you should check my game out

mlho7 2020-04-24 10:41

Great entry, graphism, music, gameplay, really good job.

thibaud-ligneul 2020-04-24 14:24

REALLY funny! Super good sound design, nice visuals, good gameplay... All is very good. I'm sad it's so short! Keep up the good work!

effarek 2020-04-24 23:49

This is really fun ! So sad that it's so short, I would've loved more mini-games !

tenaciousslug 2020-04-25 16:29

This is really well made, very original, and I love the art style ! The controls are a bit finicky (especially when shaking the mouse, it is hard to keep it in the screen since the cursor is not visible). Otherwise it was fun, congrats !

guy-without-id 2020-04-26 16:04

The big minus of this game - it's short :) it looks really solid and fun. It also has a great art and ui with mini-tutorials before the levels.

damienp 2020-04-26 16:12

@mlho7 @thibaud-ligneul @effarek @tenaciousslug @guy-without-id Thank you all for the sweet comments :)

m-trigo 2020-04-26 17:28

It's short, but it's so damn good!

Great execution of a genre that doesn't have enough games of its kind.

The defibrillator game isn't really suited to be played in the browser, but other than that, perfect!

A heads-up: Your itch.io page doesn't seem to be linked to the LD page properly. Usually games will have a banner at the top and a link in the "*More information*" section

@m-trigo Oh yeah you’re right. We uploaded it before creating the Ludum Dare page, and must have forgotten to add it when we submitted. This is fixed, thanks!

selavy 2020-04-27 01:16

Absolutely oozing personality, great work. Maybe using keyboard controls (i.e. repeatedly press a key) instead of the mouse shaking would make things a little more manageable?

saucygames 2020-04-28 06:51

died laughing just like in the concept art!

nonumbersgames 2020-05-07 16:56

Start menu is very dynamic, maybe a bit too much, feels a bit disorienting.

Nice music, though would have liked a bit longer loops. Good sounds, fit very well with the overall feel.

Nice art, liked the style, absolutely loved the characters and their expressions. Would have liked just a second longer before transitioning to next scene to enjoy the details of the victory poses.

Gameplay wise, not having a loss condition like a time limit kinda breaks the tension, but the music and moving scene help mask it and provide the sense of urgency.

At first had trouble with zapper level since I didn't know how much to charge it, and didn't have the patience to do it long enough for sparks to show up(was not sure if the mouse leaving the screen area messed with it or not). Some organic partial charge indication might have helped, to show that I was going in the right direction.

Overall, enjoyed the experience very much, got a good laugh out of it too. Really wanted to play more, but also understand that more content would have meant less polish, so it alright, I think you made the right decision to polish existing stuff rather than adding more.
