I really enjoyed discovering the objective within the game as part of the game itself. It works well as a grayscale game, especially for the tone that I was picking up on. Great work!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD55 → Dark World

Innovative gameplay and nice ambient.It's just a little bit short. Maybe you could make an infinite mode.
Simple yet extraordinary, it's a fantastic game I really enjoy. Hopefully, one day, I can make one myself.
A nice concept that could be easily expanded into a full game! The greyscale graphics also enhance the light vs dark feel, so I think it worked out well.
@realwangziyang There is an infinte mode. Just play again after landing on the main menu screen.
@youth-group-video-games @drgcandle @tomknocker44 Thanks for you nice feedback!
Quite unique mechanic, but I wanted more content. Good job!
@westeaststudio Thanks!
Edge won't let me download it because it kept scanning virus
Cool idea but a bit too repetitive and easy. The game lacks juice but it works flawlessly so that's a really good point :)
Making it impossible to pickup torchlights you placed would maybe make the game more interesting since it would really add a depth of strategy to it.
Short and sweet, the artistic direction works really well
@hieu Yeah, I had the problem with some of my testers too. Not sure how to fix it, apart from using a different browser and add/or add a malware exception. Sorry.
@obanigarage Thanks :) I was actually thinking about that, initially at least. I feared trapping the player too easily (but I think with spending some time thinking about this would actually be the more engaging approach).
@whumpuswu Wow, thanks. I am not an artist at all, so I am always getting excited when people mention art direction!
Short and sweet! I love the loop of dodging attacks while repositioning the lights, and it felt super intuitive. Only thing that took me a second to realise was how the light damaged/shrunk the enemies, maybe a bit more feedback on that would make it clearer. Also the simple monochrome visuals totally work, especially with the theme of light versus dark. Great job!
@jamieok Thanks for the detailed feedback. It is especially helpful because I consider this to b e a prototype for a future game.
Very short and relaxing. It's impressive that you've managed to fit everything into a single small binary :)
Great chilling game. Absolutely love it :3
wow! very nice concept. and great thanks for the endless mode - i realy enjoyed playing it
@zablas It is not that difficult, as I am using my own engine, that tends to produce much smaller binaries than the big engines (which is also the reason people get malware warning all over the place I guess).
@hsg-gringo @zablas Glad that you enjoyed it, and thanks for the feedback!
Really a clean small game, like it!
Great entry, interresting concept: i want more! :wink: I liked the atmosphere and the graphic style. Nicely done, congrats :smile:
Cool concept! The black & white feel actually really suits the mood I think. Really enjoyable!
Really liked the lighting, it looked cool and provided a unique mechanic. Had a lot of fun!
Nice game, wish it lasted longer, with more content. I'd play the full game.
it's a small game but i did have more fun with it than most others. The way it works is satisfying. Felt kinda sad for the little "plates" (i thought they where holes haha)
got a trojan error.. then game crashed on launch so i was unable to play.
looks fun tho hehe
It works! Cool)
@blues Sorry, we are working on getting our binaries out of the malware heuristics (likely compiler/language related), but not fully there yet.
I tried playing on linux, but "libsteam_api.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory". I tried copying that from a random steam game but no luck (different errors, so it probably needs more than that) :(
@frank-gevaerts This message should not affect your game. The engine merely checks if steam is available, and, if not, will continue to run. Did the game not start in your case?
@diadem-games sorry about being incomplete, I should have quoted the full output and not been the typical user who just reports the first message... It segfaults, according to gdb somewhere in the radeon vulkan driver.
libsteam_api.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (9) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (10) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (11) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (12) has no glyph ' (13) has no glyph Codepoint ' WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (9) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (10) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (11) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (12) has no glyph Set log level to lvlWarn Starting without Steam Segmentation fault
(sending the message again. Formatting being messed up doesn't help, and editing my message doesn't seem to work...)
``` libsteam_api.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (9) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (10) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (11) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (12) has no glyph ' (13) has no glyph Codepoint ' WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (9) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (10) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (11) has no glyph WARN Loading font : Codepoint ' ' (12) has no glyph Set log level to lvlWarn Starting without Steam Segmentation fault ```
(also based on that I suspect it's not going to be something you can fix easily)
I really like the concept, however it's a bit short, you should definitely add an infinite game mode where the map expend during the the game or something like this !
