Little analysis and playthrough of the game (especially since I wasn't around to participate on this one :[ ) - https://youtu.be/k8GZzbCA7v4
Hopefully it'll help bring some extra eyes to the game!
Fun! I like the weapon varieties, it created some good challenges with which enemies to prioritize.
Pretty fun!
This was an absolute delight. I appreciated the great use of pinball/break out mechanics paired as a dodging game (and with the multiplier to reinforce the objective!). Fantastic entree.
This was a delight! I played at least seven or eight times to see what the other options were (though I didn't manage to beat it yet...), but I had a great time!
I only got totally stuck once - since I was unable to choose any options (see screenshot). Capture.PNG
This was pretty fun! Definitely could benefit from some boundaries, rather than letting the player move out of bounds, especially since they drop right at the beginning.
The animations were pretty solid! I think having more impactful choices would have been a strong boon - it felt like just about every path would lead me to the same fate.
This was pretty cool! A bit difficult to figure out, but by the end I was having fun and having my planes zip around the world.
Very fun! The integration with the theme was spot on, and the gameplay was fun!
The music was great, though overall the audio was a bit loud. Otherwise, the game played nicely, and I appreciated the variety of levels. The level design could use a bit of work, but it didn't hinder the experience too much.
Tough, but fun! I had a good time, despite my many failures.
Solid entree! The kids picking up knives was a nice hidden thing to worry about, though the taking the knives away from them was a bit unintuitive. I also wished I could pick up the balls to move them back into the play area. Still, though, I had a good time with this game, and it felt very on theme!
Fun! I enjoyed the physics component to this, especially since the head of the character prevents you from moving like a perfect sphere - added nice challenge to this.
Great entree! The playtime is pretty short, but if you're playing against clever opponents I could see this turning into a pretty heated match. Loved the music and audio design, it really gave it a good chill mood.
Great entree! I had a blast with this one (and I survived the season!)
This was fun! I made it about 14 waves before I panicked my way through a dozen warps and got myself killed. Great variety of mechanics though!
<3
Thanks everyone for your incredibly uplifting comments! I'm happy everyone's enjoyed the game thus far :)
Fun! It was surprisingly not as difficult to shoot down the chimneys as I thought it would be.
Hard to see much, but the leveling system was pretty neat!
This was pretty fun - I beat this on normal mode. The aiming felt a little off (a bit too low), but otherwise I had a good time with this. There are never enough horror games in games jams like this!
@stefan-richings - Yup! I must have forgotten to put a link in my profile, but you can find my team's game (Critterâ„¢ Sitter) here - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/crittertm-sitter
Thanks for asking, I hope you have fun :D
Fun! I liked the use of the theme! It was a bit easy to lose the pooper-scooper off screen, but otherwise this was fun.
This was a lot of fun! I managed to beat the game too :)
Tough, but a lot of fun! I probably played this more times than I should have.
Very tough to control, which made for a pretty limited experience. That said, I liked the mechanics - the bullets with the theme in mind worked pretty well.
Fun! Not the most color-blind friendly, but I still managed to get a score of 170 :)
A bit unintuitive to play, but it's still a fun idea!
Great use of the theme, and the boss battles were a lot of fun!
Fun! The style was great, and the gameplay was pretty smooth!
Fun and pretty funny! I liked the use of the day/night cycle.
Fun twist on the theme - I was 18 candies in before I got caught... curses!
Definitely was an interesting game. I managed to beat it, but mostly out of luck - after you've beaten two rooms, if you don't know what the other rooms contain, it becomes a bit of a shot in the dark as to what needs to be done. That said, I still had fun and I'm happy I managed to beat it!
Delightful mechanics! Definitely had a hard time getting the "Waaa" to work in game (seemed fine in the calibration, though), but I still had a fun time panicking into my microphone :)
"Why did you break my window?" I love it
This was fun! Even though I felt bad doing it, I appreciate that the dang birds were shootable as well
Hey, thanks @squidgod! We owe you a ton for helping us learn the ways of developing with the Playdate SDK :) Really appreciate the kind words!
Ah, thanks for the feedback @random-ideation-studios - we'll have to check the SDK again, they _just_ put out a new update, so it's possible that something wasn't compatible :worried: - Oh, just to make sure, you _do_ need to unzip the file before dropping it into the Playdate simulator (figured I'd mention it in case that step was missed!)
Love the darkness mechanic, it added a lot of interesting challenge around how to prioritize player focus.
Loved this - straight up felt like a Tony Hawk game meets truck delivery. Only critique is that I think the player gets a bit too much bonus time per delivery - though, better to sway on the easier side when doing a game jam so no biggie  I was at about 35K points when I got stuck between a ramp and a ring!
It was fun! I wasn't sure what some of the upgrades did, but I played through a few rounds :)
This was a delight! Easy to pick up and play and shoot for a high score - was _almost_ extra tough having to rely on colors for orders (for colorblind folk like myself), but I was able to do okay.
Loved the vibe and playstyle of this! The map routing was a bit confusing, since it was real easy to get mixed up where your last point was if you accidentally clicked backward in your route - not a huge deal, overall. I quite enjoyed the narrative and resource management element of this too.
Whew! Pretty panic inducing - I was having a great time trying to sort all my babies, but then I filled all the beds and was stuck holding another baby! Oops. But I had fun with this one. Also, if you keep running to the left in the rooms, it feels like the beginning of a horror game :D
I was immediately _hooked_ (heh heh). But really though, this was a fun little sea adventure :) I couldn't, for the life of me find the Felippe fish, but got everyone else!
Dang, what's not to like about this one. Loved everything about it!
This was probably the best game I've played thus far - great level/puzzle design, good use of the theme, and a great length to showcase all the abilities. Great job!
Seems pretty neat! I was kind of getting a feel for it, but the lack of explanation of the rules was a bit tough to learn how to play correctly.
@kilthorne, very proud of you and your booty hole. It's very bootyful.
Just wanted to say, thanks for all the kind words, feedback, and posts about your scores! Y'all are a delight :)
Was pretty dang fun! Bonus points for having a tutorial, you the real MVPs for that.
I beat it with 61680 mana and died 30 times - love that you have a results screen. Overall, thought it was fun and I like the spawning mechanics were navigational changes. I thought it was odd that the cooldown and the duration of each summoned element being the same time was frustrating, since it seemed to discourage players from using the ability in tandem (which was required to get through the final obstacle). Otherwise, some stuff was a bit difficult to understand without the game explicitly calling it out (like how the mana bushes give you different amounts of mana for each summon, rather than a full restore), but it wasn't anything I couldn't figure out.
Overall, pretty fun, but tough!
Was fun! Felt that weapons downgraded pretty fast, so it was hard to get everything maxed out. Gameplay was fun though, I liked that each weapon was design with a particular enemy in mind (though I generally preferred the shotgun).
Only real struggle was that it was pretty easy to get surrounded by the blobs and I couldn't get away from them. The weapon meant for them was a bit slow at damaging them too, so it was consistently what caused me to game over.
Also dug the metal vibes, nice to see metal love in here.
Thanks folks for giving our game a try and for the feedback! I added a short little playthrough video for folks that got stuck, hopefully that helps for anyone that wants to get to the end of the game  - also I hear the feedback on the tall platforms, the game doesn't really teach you about the slide-jump, but even then I agree that it's pretty tricky!
OOPS, sorry about missing the note on sprint, I can't believe I didn't put that in there! We've got that added in there now, but really appreciate y'all mentioning it
This was neat! I liked the art and the ideas that went into this. My feedback is similar to other comments - non-english made it tough to understand the recipe book, so if there was something in game to tell players what language it was in would help us use translation tools.
Liked the art and the gameplay, was fun! Got past level 20 and similar to other comments assumed it was endless. Overall, I think archers were the best strategy, I experimented a little with the sword and board characters and felt they died very easily. Barbarian was okay, but I agree that archers in the back (or even on both sides of the field) were optimal strategies.
Cute! It's a neat little experience, with some nice music.
Fun! I didn't realize the little guy I summoned was helping me, but once I realized the big spooky guy was off in the distance, I understood the errors of my ways.
Was able to beat it in about 4 minutes. Feedback on attacks was a bit confusing, but didn't stop me from succeeding. Good work!
Fun stuff! I liked the combo with dating sim :)
I'm using windows and I couldn't unzip it either :frowning2:
Really solid entree! I had a hard time understanding what would cause the game over, but regardless I played it a few times and had a lot of fun!
Fun!
Fun!
Thank you so much @michael-clavell ! I noticed that too - I'm starting to think that some browsers may treat the mouse sensitivity differently than it was in our local builds, but that's really helpful feedback!
Fun! There didn't seem to be any point to the money (other than score), but definitely a fun entree in the farming sim-meets-shooter genre :stuck_out_tongue:
ahhh, gotcha - thanks!
