I always love seeing your games! Keep up the amazing work man, this one is another solid puzzle game added to the catalog.
Such a wonderful game in every aspect! I cannot get enough of this one
@kbjwes77 That's why I also included a zip install for those who don't want to download as an installer. Thank you for the feedback!
@jamison Thank you! Ive been unable to track this bug down so this helps a ton!
@finalspace I built this on Mac, but for some reason Game Maker Studio 2 Export to Mac, and then transferring that zip file, gave me a ton of trouble! I will come back to this eventually and try to fix the build issues. Thanks for checking out the game though in the meantime
Wow.. just wow. this is stunning and a beauty to look at!
I really like the simplicity of the game! Definitely some things I would change as a lot of other commenters mentions, such as the movement physics and collisions. but All that being said, great job!
I love the pixel art, but a lot of what the other people said, some bugs are still super prevalent
I was unable to download the Mac build and use that, but I played the web version just fine. I like the simplicity of the game and the art direction. I also am a sucker for turn based/ grid based games, so great job on utilizing that theme!
I love the simple art style and super smooth animations! such a great stylistic choice
I love the art and music! It would be nice if the enemy would telegraph his movement a bit so that I could try to predict where he would be and shoot there. Sometimes it felt like it was all very random and rolling the dice
Love the art and love the concept!! I could use infinitely more penguins though lol
I love this game! seriously such a great game overall. the theme and music, and random art styles all mashed together. plus the gameplay reminded me a lot of a card game. I definitely will be playing this one some more!
Hey @bubblewandgames and @caspercaper17 thank you for the notice! I didn't realize my submission and changes weren't saved. Everything seems to be working just fine now! I hope you enjoy it.
@alexkishchinskiy Yeah I did everything by myself! I have a controller fix that I will be pushing tonight, so if you’re planning on playing with friends, wait for that first because right now there are some issues with the game pad support. But I just need to play more games and rate more games myself in order to get more views. Hopefully I hit that 20 mark, but thanks for the kind words and feedback’
I love the physics! I strongly recommend you do more levels with the weird shapes, those levels were hilarious.
I really enjoyed the idea and execution. Could make some improvements to the players always facing the camera, modify the music, increase card flip over speed, and add some more cards to the deck. Great game!
This is so great! I love games that embrace the lighthearted nature of the ldjam and put some humor into them. This is by far the best example ive seen so far in this jam!
It was hard to figure out how attacking worked? And how the order of events played out? I like the concept and I love turn based strategy games but It was just hard to figure out what was going on
Such an awesome game! The screaming sound effect was a bit harsh and surprising when I first heard it, but that would make sense.. considering we're hitting humans. I love all of the visual effects and the slow motion feature really adds a great contrast to the speed theme. Overall, a solid endless runner!
Haha I made a game about trying to make the players feel bad about hurting dogs in the last jam. But overall, the game looks incredible and plays smoothly. I love all of the subtle effects that really makes this game feel like a super polished, final product.
In a way I really like the art. It is definitely a unique style, but it is just too hard to distinguish between what you can interact with and what you cannot interact with.
@thanatos-hades thank you so much! I am working on a mobile, full-release, version of the game right now! If you’re interested in following updates, you can follow on Twitter, twitch or Discord. @GentooGames on Twitter and twitch
@Thanatos-Hades Here’s a link to the discord: https://discord.gg/Taeqjgg I will consider doing a desktop release also, but I’m not entirely sure on it yet
@nathalia-hohl Thanks so much for the feedback! Im working on redoing a lot of the core mechanics in the game, to prepare for a full release. Also, youre totally correct about the graphics, most of them are Kenney assets. I forgot to remove the graphics category from the ratings, and have just done so now. Thanks for the heads up! :)
This was one of my favorite games that Ive played so far. The humor was silly, but well placed, and the gameplay was simple but challenging. Ill have to finish the game so i can see what happens at the end :)
The art was great, but the gameplay was a little repetitive. Also felt kind of motion sick at times, paging through the scenes so quickly. But the overall look and tone of the game was super solid :)
The vertex buffer implementation here is insanely impressive! Super cool idea, and cool of you to try out a unique technical implementation during a jam
I really enjoyed how the tree grew and looked over time :) it was a little frustrating losing because of the random nature of the spawns. I think i got 4 fires in a row without any water?
I really liked that the characters seemed complex and that there were always good or bad consequences to your actions. It really forces the player to consider whether or not an action is worth the risk. Great job!
I like that this was a little different than a standard "tower defense" game. I think the art needs some work, and some balancing on the cost of items to make them more usable. There was a lot of time in which i didnt feel like i could really do much of anything
This game had a great sense of humor that really carried it along. It was a great game to play on stream and I really appreciate the complexities that seem to have gone into it :)
The game was polished and very well done :) The art looked good, and the music was solid. I think it would have helped to have some explanation that showed you could jump on enemy's backs, and maybe have the difficulty increase over time
It would be nice if there was a way to speed up the game a bit so there wasnt so much down time, but otherwise, a great implementation of a solid idea!
The art on this is obviously super impressive, and the reveal at the end legit gave me goosebumps, with how the music came in. I would have liked to see the game embrace the difficulty curve of similar games such as Jump King and Getting Over it. Some of the nodes seemed to be placed with no intention, and simply served as means to tell the story. Making all the nodes required, but forcing a more difficulty game I think would have made the final payoff more gratifying. Also, embracing a more linear/vertical level design similar to Jump King could have played in with the story of him trying to ascend to see his wife again? Idk, just some ideas :)
The art in parts of this game were fantastic. I do have to admit that the controls were a bit frustrating, since it seemed like i couldnt jump half the time, and I didnt know you could shoot until several minutes into the game.
I love the mood and overall feel of this game! I think the stamina could regen a little faster, and I would have loved to see some harder levels. I never really felt like I had to stop for stamina ever.
Great entry for a first jam! I cant wait to see what you do in the future :) Maybe consider balancing the enemies a little bit better, and adding some more environment art, and sounds?
Overall love the game! The giant world space is a lot of fun to play in, and drifting along side the planets feels so satisfying! The enemies felt a little difficult at times and were really hard to defeat.
Impressive that you did all the assets yourself! I definitely thought the models were premade assets. I enjoyed the game, but felt it was too easy. I would love to see some modifications that would increase the difficulty
Congrats on being able to create such an interesting puzzle game with a clear and concise tutorial! Finding time to properly teach the mechanics and controls is one of the hardest things to do in a jam, and you did an excellent job. The minimalist art style is fantastic as well :)
Such a cool concept! And excellent execution on it as well! The graphics are really great too, and the use of the scan-line aesthetic on a tv to visualize rewinding is such a great little touch!
What a great little rage game! I really enjoy the concept, a couple pieces of feedback though: the spikes feel like they should be easier to see, and i often times felt very disoriented after a death, and would backtrack through parts of the level. An arrow to indicate which direction to go from a spawn point might be useful.
@antrimplato @frecklebars Oh no! Should be all fixed now! Thanks for the notice
Wow this game looks and sounds incredible! I would like to see more visual feedback when the enemies get hit, as it is sometimes hard to know when exactly they were being damaged. But overall, I really enjoyed it! Solid submission!
This is fantastic! It really feels like a classic atari arcade game, and the technical implementations of the morphing arena shape, and visual graphics are all very impressive. Great work on this one!
The main mechanic is such an interesting idea, and simultaneously very intuitive, but tricky to master! Zapping enemies with perfectly placed loops is incredibly satisfying
All Hail The Roundabout Statue! A great little game that was probably the best execution on this loop-driving concept.
I absolutely love variations on classic game ideas, and this is one of the best ones ive seen for a jam! The circular ball physics make the interactions so unpredictable in a great way, and created some really tense moments! Really enjoyed this one!
Reminds me of the old Bowser's Castle levels that looped indefinitely! Really nice submission, with the classic retro aesthetic
Only got 2 of the 4 endings, but holy crap was this wonderful in all of the horrendous and terrifying ways! :D Absolutely loved finding all of the little easter-eggs and hidden interactions. Fantastic amount of quantity and quality aspects for a jam game! Great job... voice acting could have been better though, have you guys not heard Mass Effect's voice acting? /s
Perhaps the most dapper snail I've seen all weekend
What an insane idea to do for a jam! I love the physics system so much, and creating a creative, engaging, and fun physics system like this for a jam is crazy awesome! Congrats!
The cartoon art style was really great and unique! Gonna have to tip my pizza delivery guy more next time!
Ahaha some of these dance poses were incredible! And the moving background elements really helped to build up the entire feeling of movement. Music is a banger as well!
Absolutely incredible! The only game Ive given a 5 in graphics so far, and I cant imagine how you got some of these visual effects to work. Great job, and such a wonderful game for a jam!
This was so great! It had me laughing pretty hard the first time i hit that last bend. Truly fantastic little game! The momentum carrying over from the previous round was a bit jarring at times, but that would be my only criticism. Great job! :)
Another incredible game! Two jams in a row in which your game has been one of my favorites. Also, great job with the pixel art - for first time doing pixel art, this is really polished and well done! Cant wait to see your next games :)
It's really great to see another game that also created a world that directly impacts little humans haha! The art style (those clouds specifically) are so satisfying and enjoyable to look at. Great job, and quite exciting to see a game that shares some similarities :)
Look at this guy! Love the art and the writing, had a few genuine laughs while reading the prompts. Fantastic jam entry!
Creating such a tight, and precise, movement based platformer fighter in a weekend is seriously impressive! Great job on this entry, everything is cohesive and very professionally produced!
The little details you placed all throughout this game are fantastic, and really make it look so crisp and smooth! Overall, excellent game with fun and chaotic mechanics
There are a ton of really great ideas here! The entire premise of a survival shooter, jumping from platform to platform is really fascinating! Maybe a 3rd person perspective wouldve worked a little bit better to give some sense of perspective? Otherwise, the visuals were fantastic! Controls were a bit wonky at times, and it was hard to tell what exactly was going on at times - but overall, a great jam submission - especially for trying to create such a complex movement system with different gravitational fields. I cant imagine trying to do something that complex during a jam, impressive! :)
Wow the visuals here are incredible (colors, low-poly models, shaders, filters, etc), and some of the design decisions you made with the visual design and colors were really excellent as well. Some fantastic intuitive game dev at points, and just an overall enjoyable short experience! Good job :)
This idea for a game mechanic is really clever! I absolutely love this game, and the general polish is extremely well done! A very polished and enjoyable entry overall. I love all of the different interactions you were able to create with the enemies
A really enjoyable entry, and honestly, anything with a dog in it gets extra points in my book! The art-style fits the gameplay perfectly, but i do wish there was a little more variety in terms of the gameplay interactions. Fantastic job either way :)
Easily one of my favorite entries in the jam! Everything about this is incredible, and some of the curses are cruel and hilarious. Only criticism is that the shooting sounds does get a little repetitive after a while
I really love the concept for this game! The wacky physics were a lot of fun, and created some dynamic gameplay moments. Hoping that you continue with this idea and expand on it, could make for a really fun autobattler!
Absolutely loved the chaotic and fast-paced nature of this game! Good luck on your Scrabdackle development :)
Dang this game is just blowing up! Great to see another moody, menacing, card game get created for this jam. Seriously great stuff on everything, the visuals especially are so great and fun
This game is a 10/10 for me. The physics are so tight, the precise movement, the insane bounciness, the floating, plus the crunchy sounds - *perfect*(chefs kiss). Also - I think this would make an incredible mobile game with tilt-controls
easily one of the coolest games this jam, no question! i found that waiting until i had 1 hp left, and then spamming re-rolls in the shop until i found heals was a pretty valid strategy. i also think the drain zone could be a bit bigger, and still not entirely sure what the bottom upgrade does. but overall, this was awesome!
@matt-blake nothing worse than a cone stuck in the wheel well
@picross haha yes! this is what I love to hear 😁
this is so great! i absolutely love micro-colony management sims, especially with some random chaotic elements mixed in, and this was such a fun take on the theme. the animations and sounds when the colony eats the food is perfect too
top notch game! I absolutely adore this entry, the charm and character is so apparent, and then main characters run cycle was cracking me up haha. from one car drifting game creator to another, well done :)
hahah this is fantastic! i absolutely love how absurd this game is, and my god, what is that horrific blob of human beings in the train car. this was great, absolutely loved it. my only piece of criticism: it would be nice to have a "pull" action. a couple of times i accidentally pushed people into the corner and couldnt get them out. great job! :D
this is insanely cool! absolutely love the core mechanic, and the chip-tune is perfectly off-kilter to give it that out of space vibe. some really tricky puzzles in here, and recently, ive been loving anything to do with platformer puzzlers. fantastic entry!
this is one of the best looking jam games ive ever seen! :o
this is a great idea! i love turn based concepts, and taking the classic top-down ship battle idea, and converting it into this genre is really fun. i think this idea could be explored a bit more, there are some things that are currently kind of hard to figure out. for example: maybe creating different types of ships, with specific move and attack behaviors would be a great way to make things more clear. but that's what jams are for, trying out things :) -- also, your sfx are very loud
this was such a calm and peaceful entry to play :) after a few runs i started to understand the game better, but i never really found myself using the rotate or bump very often. id be interested to see one of the developers play to see how optimized you can get with a play-through. either way, i really enjoyed this game, and the overall mood and tone is on point. great job!
the sounds you chose for the skeletons jump animations are so great, he has such a bouncy attitude! really love seeing hex-based grid games, and incorporating a leaderboard is always awesome to see in an LD entry. great job!
this is a really cool variation on the auto-battlers/vs-like game genre. i love the idea of having something relatively simple to manage while chugging through enemies :)
wow, this is the best sounding game i have played all jam! absolutely incredible mood, and setting off the nuke is next level. really loved this entry
love the overall look and feel of this game. i almost wish it was more difficult. the first time playing through it, i was originally thinking that a single hit would end my run, but then i started noticing a ton of health pickups. overall, a nice entry :)
love the 1-bit look, and the music is very tense! i think the audio is all left-aligned, so it was a little odd playing on headphones, but not too big of a deal. one suggestion id make is having some sort of visual difference between projectiles/objects that can be shot and destroyed, vs those that cannot. i found myself trying to shoot the indestructible pellets a lot. great entry :)
from one racing fan to another, this was great fun! i love the loose nature of the track and that i could fling myself off the side of a ramp, drive over cars and barriers, and still keep going. a lot of racing games put so much restrictions on where you can go, and the freedom on this is exactly what so many racing games should allow. plus, putting it all inside of a dense, packed parking garage is such a great idea! really loved this one :)
didnt realize i was also getting an asmr experience with this game. those whispers activated my inner cyber-serpent! awesome entry, any game with a leaderboard is also such a perfect fit for the jam experience.
i love the visualization of the level gen/filling algorithm used, and the sounds are perfect. i dont mind the idea of a timer, but by the end, it was so fast that i wasnt even really thinking anymore and just spamming pieces as fast as possible. great game with a great aesthetic
fun entry :) since score is given every time you move, it seems the best strategy is to just move a lot. it might be an idea to only reward points if moving upwards, since that naturally introduces more risk. either way, i enjoyed the game, and the visual are great
really fun entry! i just love the overall charm and mood this game has, so great. it took me a moment to figure out what was going on, but after just a few minutes i felt like a sardine packing god haha
Couldn't past the start screen. Maybe it has something to do with my browser since it seems like other people were able to get it to work.
Love the concept, but the players weight is too much. It felt more like my character was on ice, and also, never underestimate the power of sound effects, even ones that you just find online. Good luck!
The music got a bit repetitive after a while, but holy crap these visuals are amazing! I love the shader you used? Or whatever it. Fantastic job in that field for sure.
