Racing IS exciting!

mehul 2023-10-03 00:29

Pretty fun game and the retro graphic are easily the highlight for me

fosf0 2023-10-03 03:56

I loved the graphics and general mood!

joymagine 2023-10-03 03:57

game is legit, i like how u hit the cars and they move around, game is actually really legit, sweeet game

wheelsx 2023-10-03 04:14

The driving feels great! It has a great look too.

zungryware 2023-10-03 04:14

It's official: The Nintendo DS nostalgia wave has begun. And I am here for it. This game looks really good. I'm wondering how you got the car's animations and physics so polished in time. It looks and handles like a fully-fledged racing game.

I love the design of the race course. It has great gameplay and setpieces while still feeling like it could be a real location. Great work!

pro4 2023-10-03 05:59

So much fun! I played a couple of rounds with a best 3 lap time of 2:48. My racing style is to always floor the gas and drift every possible turn... with only mediocre success rates lol. I wouldn't want to leave my car parked in this garage haha. Fantastic game and I am super impressed with what you were able to create in this short jam!

wolderado 2023-10-03 07:04

It was fun! I half expected the car to squish on impact like JellyCar haha  Sound design is very impressive too! Did you do the foley yourself?

bosco 2023-10-03 07:47

My best lap time was 52 seconds but goddamn is this game additictive There are some absolutely insane drifts you can pull off if you get the lines right, which feel amazing to pull off

taldius 2023-10-03 14:21

Really nice game, I love the idea of just racing in a tight space and the PS1 aesthetic is just perfect. Maybe the game should have an arcade like drift mechanic to be fully enjoyable. Anyway, good job!

rusya-ink 2023-10-03 14:26

Wow, some very neat tracks)

0020dandy 2023-10-03 14:38

Super fun gameplay! Got bamboozled by fake multiplayer, and would absolutely love to race against other people or computer. Any chance this project would continue, maybe in the form of Godot tutorial videos? Also was wondering if you listened to The Song during development?

genroa 2023-10-03 16:01

On paper, this isn't the most original iteration of the theme, but in practice the execution is flawless. Assuming you like racing, this is a must play of this game jam. The controls feel good and arcadey while still having enough for you to learn.

roboimuri 2023-10-03 17:00

Perfect! Flawless! Music, graphics, the whole package. Impressive for a jam game.

shidygames 2023-10-03 17:48

02.38.716. Don't know how good this is, but what a cool game! It's super fun with a controller (requires a download, WebGL isn't detecting my Xbox controller). Well done mate!

chompdev 2023-10-03 21:04

Super fun game! I love the retro graphics and the controls feel really good. The level design is fantastic. The small details like physics interactions with parked cars and helpful arrow markings around the track are excellent. You should be very proud of this one!

dan-burns 2023-10-03 22:27

Nice! who doesn't love parking garage racing games??

frankdev 2023-10-03 23:17

Fun to play and with a really cool graphic! GJ!

raptorspank 2023-10-04 03:42

Fun little retro racer, reminded me a bit of beetle battle for the N64. Interesting take on the theme too, going with a crowded parking garage instead of a typical track. I did have a small issue where the controls felt wonky to me. I noticed that on one occasion, after backing up and then starting forward my turning was still reversed for a second or two longer. It made it very easy for me to get into a crash-stravaganza where I would keep hitting things and getting stuck for a longer time than I would otherwise. Still, solid entry and loved the vibes!

johnsensei 2023-10-04 12:25

I booted into Windows to try this game with a controller but got a long error message that starts: Your video card drivers seem not to support the required Vulcan version. I've gotten this message on some other games too, so I don't know if anything can be done about it, likely my Mac. I'll try the web version.

johnsensei 2023-10-04 12:30

Ok, the web version was a little clunky but I was glad I was able to play it. Great job making a 3D game for a jam that was essentially original Playstation quality. I'm glad for the controller support, though I'll say the controller response was super sensitive and difficult to handle.

jotson 2023-10-04 14:09

This is a fun idea! Controls were tight, car felt good. You need to get in touch with the Hot Wheels people. :-)

thebmxeur 2023-10-04 15:08

Like the idea about a drifting game (tried to make one for the last LD but didn't manage to get something working well enough). But I found it hard to just not run into every wall. The drift button (which I didn't understood at first that I needed to keep accelerating to work) made too much of a movement, and didn't really depended on my speed current turning angle. I understand it's an arcade game but I didn't feel in control of the car enough. It was also a bit weird that with the controller IĀ couldn't use the triggers to accelerate, brake and reverse. Still props for making working car game.

jormarysky 2023-10-04 16:54

I love these very arcade-correct, "held together by duct tape and bubble gum" - kind of physics. It is fun game really. Add some over the top damage models for parked cars and up the anarchy and you have winner here.

I however feel that drift feature is not balanced correctly. Much tighter drifting is needed. It feels like it is made for Mario kart tracks and not for tracks with this little space.

chewiecb 2023-10-04 19:50

Really fun game, it felt super polished, the arcade physics were super bouncy and fun, and I love the retro aesthetic.

blazejmg917 2023-10-04 21:57

This game is super fun! I think it's very amusing how easy it is to flip your car or fly off of the track, and I appreciate how often your drop in reset points so it doesn't hamper progression through the track too much. However, I feel this game could go in one of two ways: If you want the game to stick as just a goofy idea then I think it's great, but if you'd like it to function a bit more as a racer, you'd probably want to make the drifting a bit tighter, as some of the turns are kinda rough currently. But overall, great job!

magnanix 2023-10-05 06:56

Loved this one, amazing work! I think I might have missed/skipped a checkpoint trigger on my first lap - as I ended up doing 4 laps in total (I think it was the ramp just before the finish line - jumped off that level like there was nothing stopping me! :P). To go with the arcadey style, might have been beneficial adding a segment timer (between checkpoints), or visual representation of the checkpoints/etc just incase. If I remember the old arcade rally games, they gave you X seconds to get between checkpoint flags on the course (ah memories). Not needed, but just my little feedback :). Amazing work!

gentoogames 2023-10-05 16:08

from one racing fan to another, this was great fun! i love the loose nature of the track and that i could fling myself off the side of a ramp, drive over cars and barriers, and still keep going. a lot of racing games put so much restrictions on where you can go, and the freedom on this is exactly what so many racing games should allow. plus, putting it all inside of a dense, packed parking garage is such a great idea! really loved this one :)

bobbie 2023-10-05 22:18

When booting up the game on WebGL I couldn't seem to use triggers on my xbox controller, but A/B worked fine so it wasn't a massive issue (and this might just be a problem with WebGL)

The physics also felt a bit janky sometimes, but in a way that feels legitimately genuine to the source material. I love that you can go flying off stuff sometimes

Overall a very fun entry!

camden-obertop 2023-10-06 02:01

this was an awesome game! it was crazy as someone who submitted a game to this jam to see a tiktok about your game! I am here from the tiktok basically lol

digital-bacon 2023-10-06 23:50

Nice game. Love the graphics and the car handling is pretty good. Only issue is there doesn't seem to be anything to detect when the player launches themselves out of the parking building (yes, my driving is *that bad*). Excellent work!

feor 2023-10-07 03:12

Good handling and the track is nicely designed to provide plenty of opportunities for skips and wonky physics. Really enjoyed that, and bonus points for the cool intro.

rend 2023-10-07 14:45

The driving physics is just perfect, reminds me of Destruction Derby for some reason. The fact that there are shortcuts at almost every corner makes for a good replayability. I played the HTML5 versions and some freezes here and there made the experience a bit less enjoyable, but apart from that I had a blast. Congrats!

tatu-heinamaki 2023-10-07 19:33

A fun driving game with responsive controls, nice graphics, and a cool track to hone your drifting skills in! As a rally fan the old school looking rally car warmed my heart. Not only did I like the driving, I enjoyed trying to find shortcuts and exploits, which resulted in me falling out of the level and later getting 4/3 laps driven. Great that you made the other cars movable and not just solid obstacles, that changes the level a bit if you happen to bump into anything. Good times!

crystal-clear-sky 2023-10-07 20:36

I really enjoyed riding the car! Remind me of PS1 games.

lincolnsalles 2023-10-08 04:25

Of course, a great entry for such a short time. Cool graphics for the type of game, but looking at the photos I thought it would be more fun to drive around, but of course, the theme is limited space, so... good job

mrtroy 2023-10-08 16:47

At one point I yelled at the screen "I can't maneuver around the course-Oh..."

I love the art style. I believe you nailed it!

little-doctor-games 2023-10-09 18:31

Fantastic arcadey driving game! The driving and drifting feel great and the graphics evoked the 32 bit era. The course was impressively packed into a parking garage. The checkpointing system unfortunately makes some fun skips unusable, but other than that I have no complaints. Nice work!

moondweller 2023-10-10 19:10

Gifs with PS1-like visuals made click the link and play

I retried the race 3 times but still didn't find any usecases for drift button. Riding in grip seems to be a better and more controllable choice for time attack score.

This huge "Phong-like" white specular on a car is a bit too much for my perception but I like the overall nostalgic PS1-like visuals :D

And yes, the track config is definitely great!

veka 2023-10-11 16:31

Loved the Ps1 styled aesthetics. Fits nicely with the theme. I feel like the drifting didn't help much with manoeuvering, but apart from that it was an enjoyable ride through the tight spaces.

koboldskeep 2023-10-14 18:30

Nice! Very fun to move the car around. I'm very sad that it won't let me cheat and make shortcuts on the track.

cdunham 2023-10-15 21:41

Really cool game, implements the theme well. I was just getting the hang of things and then I fell off the map lol the car movement feels really nice, nice job.

ategon 2023-10-20 20:41

Great game, recorded some gameplay of me going through it since i wanted to get your game played before the rating period ends

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEhbjoB-DNE

Ended up getting a run of 2:40 right after I recorded
