Awaiting to play this! The page still gives a 404 but the screenshots look AMAZING!

Edit: it works!

tad 2020-10-05 20:37

Hey @jonah Sorry for the confusion - it should be up now! :)

jonah 2020-10-05 20:44

Ok, now I have tried it for real.

This game is a delight to play!

* First of all, great music! * Second, I thought the crashing cars was executed so great! I have to admit I tried crashing the cars on purpose to see what would happen. really awesome camera work with being slightly out of focus! * Lastly, this was a perfect match with the theme!

Great job, I had a lot of fun!

Freedom!

rolly 2020-10-05 20:47

This entry is awesome! It's quite short but very fun to play! I love your attention for details with the resulting car crash when failing. The 3D models are really well done and the music is a 5-stars!

Great entry !

ryan-paton 2020-10-05 21:11

Fantastic game!, Had to play it again and again! Great use of the theme

fonics 2020-10-06 05:09

Excellent entry! Simple and fun, with great fitting music to accompany it. Very satisfying to slot yourself in between cars in the next circle at the perfect speed multiple times in a row.

schsam 2020-10-06 05:13

Super fun game, I really liked the feel and the controls. Excellent graphics, also. One comment: I wasn't really sure what the arrow was supposed to be doing at first. It took me a little while to realize that it indicated where on the outer circle to go. Maybe make it a bit more clear?

tero-pulkkinen 2020-10-06 05:13

sorry but it doesnt work in brave browser. I've seen like half the unity games fail in brave... probably depends how the webgl build was done...

tad 2020-10-06 05:18

@tero-pulkkinen Sorry to hear that. We'll look into the issue and see if we can't fix it. Thanks for letting me know!

rtdmfn 2020-10-06 05:21

The music and sound design for this game was great, the song fit perfectly with the a e s t h e t i c and the the sounds were all executed well aside from the crash sound which I felt was a bit delayed. The models were very nice and the animations and controls were all very smooth. Great Entry!

jamison 2020-10-06 05:24

I got 32:40. A little easy, only crashed once. But I thought this controlled really, really nicely and intuitively. I thought it would make me dizzy at first, but I made it out okay.

Pretty chill music, too!

tad 2020-10-06 05:26

@jamison Thanks for playing. We spent a lot of time tweaking the visuals to avoid the motion sickness feeling, so I'm glad it worked out!

daniikk1012 2020-10-06 05:30

I like the graphics and the sound. It is also quite fun to play until you finally reach the end. Hope that you add more replayability later.

garfsnacks 2020-10-06 05:31

Great job, creative and fun to play!

rajendra-khope 2020-10-06 05:33

Coool concept. But difficult to play for beginers. But I guess with practice one can play and find the way out.

seth-tal 2020-10-06 05:34

This is definitely going to be one of the highest rated games this jam, I'm calling it now. Just... so simple and yet so fun. Its absolutely perfect! ... okay so I mean nothing is perfect, but I mean this game is great! Its one of my absolute favorites at the moment. Thank you for making such an enjoyable experience!

tad 2020-10-06 05:38

@seth-tal Thank you so much! I really appreciate that! Is there any chance of getting a WebGL or Linux build of your game so that I can try it out?

seth-tal 2020-10-06 05:43

@tad No, THANK U! haha anyways, I tried really hard to get my game to function on webGL but unity just refuses to compile a working build. I still have a little over 24 hours to get one sorted out though so if you happen to peak at my entry again you will know. (I will try a linux build though! Do you know of an easy way I can test the linux build if I don't currently have access to a linux OS? Maybe WSL?)

adil 2020-10-06 05:53

Good music and graphics, but mechanics are too simple, I think it would be great for mobile phones, it would be hook me if i play it with my phone

no-grapes-games 2020-10-06 05:56

Wow, that was a lot of fun! Simple controls and concept and it really captures the feeling of fighting rush-hour traffic.

It is also a lot of fun watching the madness on the game over screen after you crash!

mrtroy 2020-10-06 06:17

I didn't think I'd ever get out of there... final win time 50.354

tad 2020-10-06 06:19

@mrtroy That's better than my first few attempts (which were in the minutes)! Thanks for playing!

fax 2020-10-06 06:34

Nice entry for this Jam. Very clear and easy gameplay. I enjoy to play it.

mrmaico 2020-10-06 06:57

24 seconds!! That was a treat! Camera made me a little dizzy after a few tries but for the length of gameplay it was ok. Music was relaxing and I really wanted to get out. Great game with a fitting theme!

wendel-scardua 2020-10-06 07:05

Loved everything about this, the music, the aesthetics, being able to see the chaos unfold at the Uh Oh screen :)

My first time - after many crashes - was 01:06, later I did it in 00:35.575, abd I guess I'll keep this tab open to keep playing later

seth-tal 2020-10-06 07:06

@tad I was too curious to see if I could do it, so I updated the itch.io page with a Linux build for my game if you're still interested haha. I tested the build on 64bit Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS off a virtual machine so uh.. good luck.

sarafilipa 2020-10-06 07:34

48 seconds on first try. :) Solid game, great concept, innovative, fun, great art & audio. Well done, what a charming game!

ryuk47 2020-10-06 09:03

Solid fun! I was quite struggling at first, having forgotten that I am able to accelerate and break, not only swap lanes. Maybe an Input reminder on the Game page or better in-game would prevent this?

rmonthil 2020-10-06 09:41

Very, very fun game. Amzing execution with a simple working concept, perfect for a game Jam. Nice work. I agree with the comment above, at first, I didn't know I could accelerate or brake. Amazing music by the way! It goes perfectly with the game! :musical_keyboard:

x-pilot 2020-10-06 09:57

I love this! Took me a while to get used to, but I managed to get a 31.144 nu just flooring it and even ducking back into lanes to get out faster! Really good and unique!

robert-van-duursen 2020-10-06 12:26

Awesome game and a very satisfying mechanic! The sound effects and collision in the game over screen are great. Great take on the theme

abiral 2020-10-06 13:10

Really liked the concept of this game. Simple to understand and play...Overall it's a really good experience. Good Luck mate!

mamon 2020-10-06 13:13

ok 1:42 on the first valid try, gonna play at least 5 times to get at leas 30 sec. Excellent!

tricky-fat-cat 2020-10-06 13:16

Fantastic and chaotic game. Well done!

mikoziq 2020-10-06 13:19

Eyyy 45 secs!

Great entry, very easy to learn and a very good title for quick 5-minutes during Subway run to work. Would be very cool mobile title as well.

Well done guys!

federico-giorgi 2020-10-06 13:19

It feels groovy

papasucre 2020-10-06 13:22

Great concept, nice graphics, nothing to complain about, you managed like a boss. If we could just try it again without having to go through the menu, it improved the flow a lot.

lucien-catonnet 2020-10-06 13:28

It's a very simple concept and yet playing this game feels really good! Too bad it's so quick to finish! The music is obviously a delight, the graphics are on point, and the controls work well! For more difficulty, you could imagine having the car constantly lose speed, you'd have to regularly compensate with the acceleration input (did somebody say Flappy Bird?)

raiponz 2020-10-06 13:29

Drive in Paris the video game.

pschichtel 2020-10-06 13:35

10/10 would play during rush hour! Small, but awesome, super polished.

hardscore 2020-10-06 13:47

This has accurately portrayed my experience when changing lanes ;) The idea is really solid and the game controls really well. It's fun to speedrun and the music makes it 10 times better.

cocapasteque 2020-10-06 14:19

@Tad Since you played our roundabout game, I had to give yours a shot and you did it well :D Fun to play, I was not the best but still enjoyed it :)

stefan-b 2020-10-06 16:48

haha, our team had a somewhat similar idea in the brainstorming phase, but we then decided to go a completely different route. Really cool to see this idea in practice. Especially i like the crash physics in the game over screen!

gamepopper 2020-10-06 18:00

Managed to get 28 around seconds as my best time. This was really fun, made funny by witnessing the multi-car pileup on the roundabout whenever you fail. Especially like how everytime you change lanes, the distance to drive requires you to change speed alongside the differing speed of the cars.

yaniv 2020-10-06 19:11

Really good game

Not an easy start but I succeeded

zessirb 2020-10-06 19:15

Loved it! It relies a lot on luck to have the best time since lanes seem to be filled randomly, but it adds replayability; very good :)

tomatolamp 2020-10-06 19:38

Such a well constructed, polished, jam game and it has my favorite gameover screen so far!

shanzhai 2020-10-06 22:52

27.813 is my best time so far. really love the idea and execution of it, not just putting you there, but telling a charming little story first which perfectly fits the tone the music sets. really liked it, now i kinda wished i had done this in 2d :D took me a few seconds to realize one doesnt accelerate/brake by holding the button but by repeatedly pressing it. calling it "switch gears" instead of accelerate/breke can probably avoid a little confusion there :)

oxropy 2020-10-07 00:05

it would be nice if return key could be used to return to the menu, at the moment I need the mouse for this (I played the web version)

i like the end screen when all cars crash into each other and now I am ready for Paris

tad 2020-10-07 08:37

@shanzhai You should be able to accelerate just by holding the up key down. Is that not working for you?

@oxropy It's a good point - we probably should have had "r" as a restart button. At the moment, you can press esc and then enter to get back into the game from the "uh-oh" screen, if that helps! :)

shanzhai 2020-10-07 08:56

@tad nope, i had to repeatedly press it with every button press accelerating a noticeable step - to change speed from the initial regular lane to the red one takes two presses for me. keeping the button pressed just changed speed by one step and stayed that way. (played the html5-version on chrome, using wasd controls)

nekorio 2020-10-07 10:04

It's fun ! Cool design and I like the car accident in background when you loose x')

meowmeowlitclub 2020-10-07 10:08

WOOOW so funny! I love this game!!! Music/Art/Mood/=100 score!Awesome!!

wobbleblocks 2020-10-07 10:10

I managed to escape in 18 seconds! Good stuff I had fun and the music was fonky! nice work!

adiwan 2020-10-07 11:45

It's like Frogger, only driving in circles! Love it!

drtizzle 2020-10-07 12:08

0:23:434 was my fastest :) Very nice and good looking game. A perfect example of a LD game! Simple, quick and fun. The graphics, music and SFX are very nice. The gameplay is simple but addictive.

I might be nitpicking but I have two points: It would be nice to be able to restart the game immediately, instead of going to the main-menu and then click "begin". And because of the randomization of the cars (which is a nice feature) you can get lucky with your fastest time

Overall very well done, I really liked it!

chesschaser 2020-10-07 12:37

Hard but fun! Loved the music!

hippolytea 2020-10-07 13:09

Very very nice one, just good job guys.

gentoogames 2020-10-07 16:35

All Hail The Roundabout Statue! A great little game that was probably the best execution on this loop-driving concept.

cedric86 2020-10-07 17:32

Lovely game play and great music. Couldn't quite get the hang of it in the beginning and crashed a lot but after a while it became really fun. Great entry.

gurpegui 2020-10-07 17:34

It was a little hard to understand at first how it worked, but after a few tries I really enjoyed!

bentebent 2020-10-07 17:41

10/10, like driving in real life except everyone is more civilized. Jokes aside this is a very neat idea that is perfectly executed, well done!

marcusuke 2020-10-07 17:49

Very polished and fun. I escaped after 40s. At first I was a bit confused by the arrow until I escaped that I understood. Good job guys!

homeworld 2020-10-07 18:16

Very fun, i enjoyed it, and fits the theme perfectly! Please add a 'honk' button! Also maybe put a 'quick restart' button on the death menu, i died a bunch of times before getting the gist of it!

narom42 2020-10-07 18:21

Really cool ! The idea is great and the controls are clear once you understand that forward velocity is conserved. Thanks !

vivien-fargette 2020-10-07 18:29

I drive through Place de l'Etoile in Paris, you thought this would be a challenge? :p

Very fun game: good graphics, great music and perfectly fits in the theme. Only complaint would be that it's a bit short: it would gain to have multiples levels (but I understand it easier said than done, especially with limited time during the jam). Overall, it's a really good game

milestone-games 2020-10-07 18:34

This is a really great game! Fun and a real challenge. After several failed attempts I managed to beat it in roughly a minute. It's already so polished, you should develop a few more levels (with roadblocks or something else) and release it! :rocket:

kaganobik 2020-10-07 19:07

HOLY HELL this was amazing! This is really really addicting omg haha. Music was extremely good, I'm jealous now haha! Amazing work guys!

aevek 2020-10-07 19:13

This is so crazy, our initial concept was heading in this direction but we couldn't figure out how to make it work, so we ended up pivoting. You seem to have solved all the problems that we saw really well, great work. Love the visual style and jealous of your design skills for making this work.

majadroid 2020-10-07 19:19

What a charming game. The graphic is amazing, the music realy cute. The gameplay is simple but fun, and it nails the theme.

roboshamit 2020-10-07 19:32

Damn this was soooooo good! Felt super satisfying after failing for a bit.

victor-reiner 2020-10-07 19:35

Very good game! The graphics are great! And you have hit the idea 100%. Great job!

remzo 2020-10-07 19:39

This was a lot of fun! Nice idea guys, a little bit of a clever twist on the classic Frogger! The ability to go faster and slower really makes it. The music was very fitting but I was missing a crash sound effect when you failed. Good job!

fedora 2020-10-07 19:40

This was our first idea when we were brainstorming, cool to see someone else did it!

Untitled.png

interstateeight 2020-10-07 19:41

It's amazing what you were able to accomplish in such a short time! Probably my favourite game in this jam I have played so far, I would really enjoy playing a further developed version of this one. My best time is ~~~33~~ ~~11.854~~ 10.433 seconds so far. time.png

pietrek 2020-10-07 19:42

Cool game, but I wish there was a reset button.

thomas-volpato 2020-10-07 19:58

5/5 on everything!!! I wish it could have more levels

To improve: * Add the "Begin" using some key closer to WASD Keys, the same to "Return to Menu"

tamail 2020-10-07 20:25

I love this type of games! And this was executed so very well! My only two complaints would be: - Don't force me to return to menu and then back to game. Just let me press enter or something so I can try again as soon as possible! Since there is so much accidents waiting to happen, it can be quite frustrating to be forced to do two clicks just to get back to the game - I was quite confused why my truck was losing speed when switching lanes. It seems logical to me if one would remain their speed that they have to change manually. Sometimes this was unpredictable and frustrating.

But seriously, I enjoyed the game so very much, played it for way too long - these were only two problems I had with otherwise great game with great sounds and graphics. Nice job!!!

fermingimpel 2020-10-07 21:55

Super interesting, and in the menu before you crash, everyone crash and it was so funny! I think you should make the buttons a little more striking, it is a bit difficult to see them at first!

sharkwithlasers 2020-10-08 03:21

That was hilarious! Seeing the wreckage I brought forth made me laugh pretty hard hahah. The cheerful music fit very well with the carnage.

And the gameplay loop was addicting too! Great work!

flying-basement-studios 2020-10-08 14:22

It looks and sounds amazing and it is also very fun to play. Great job!

tyler-miller 2020-10-08 16:51

My favorite so far that I have played, and highest I have rated. Like every element of this game. Hope it gets recognized with the ratings! great job

eugenik 2020-10-08 23:26

Really good game!

mathemagician 2020-10-09 14:03

This is delightful! The whole aesthetic's really cohesive, and watching all the cars slowly crash after failing to escape is wonderful. I could've gone for a bit more juice in the car's handling, and a quicker way to restart on failures, but those are extremely minor points.

obi-one 2020-10-09 16:24

Just awesome game!!! The music, the graphics and every is very good! http://prntscr.com/uw9pu9

nyunesu 2020-10-09 18:35

Hey there!

Feel free to ignore most of the things due to jam scope, etc, but I'm giving feedback assumming you would keep working in the game.

Could've been better: - Accessibility things such as adding UI controls with the same input you use for the game - Gameplay variety: such as different levels layouts - Customization: Choosing your car color before you play - Floating UI arrow is not well communicated, kinda confusing and hard to understand at first

Good points: - Working with gamepad, that's cool - Scope size the project is short and sweet - Easily understandable, quick to learn and play

Did you guys model everything and made all music? That's impressive. The track is really cool, congrats Tad!

If my comment was helpful, don't forget to like it! ... and if you can, open my profile page and leave feedback on our game as well <3

Thanks for the experience you provided with your game!

patsui 2020-10-09 20:42

+What an amazing take on the theme!

+gameplay felt innovative and was a breath of fresh air

+graphics were on point

+music and sfx were solid

-death screen could be improved so you see the chaos more clearly!

Best game I've played so far, congrats!

vphyre 2020-10-19 19:01

Your game is very beautiful! It's a little tricky to get the hang of it at first, but then everything is more comfortable to play. I really liked the music, extremely pleasant, as well as the graphics. The mechanics of trying to enter the street lanes without crashing the car is also very creative. It is an excellent interpretation of the theme. Congratulations.

blinry 2020-10-19 19:29

Nice entry, really neat graphics! Playing through this was surprisingly challenging and exciting! Absolutely loved the statue in the middle! :) My two wishes would be a bit more polished audio, as well as some additional game mechanics, but overall, I really enjoyed this!

beats 2020-10-26 01:29

This is a really decent entry, it was fun trying to find an opening in the next lane or backtracking to find a better spot, the music and aesthetic of the art gave it a chill vibe, nicely done.
