LD39 — Running out of Power

Everybody Breathes [ Board game ] by Kerdelos 2017-08-02T08:33:22Z

Played this yesterday evening with friends, it was really nice! I was the robot and managed to get the oxygen to zero but it got back up afterwards, I feel like there are still improvements to make but the detection system already makes debating the robotness of your friends a fiery experience!

Shadow Lurkers by nusan 2017-08-02T08:17:17Z

I have a love/hate situation with the fact that when you drop the battery and it goes into an always dark area, you're basically fucked. It felt frustrating when it happened but it made the rest of the game all the more tense. Great game! :)

All of Me by Lucien Catonnet 2017-08-02T09:41:01Z

@mrsylar59: Thanks for playing it :) I decreased movement speed and constrained vertical rotation based on your feedback, thanks!

@mads @ohmaigawd @eternal: Could you tell me what message you get inside the console when it crashes? (there's a black terminal in the background, you can Alt-Tab to it) Thanks :)

@ruba: Binary representation of meshes is far from my current concerns, but of course it's part of the plans. I do use dt for movement. My physics dt is fixed with accumulator, I actually already read that article and some other articles on Molecular Matters but thanks, here's another good one: http://lolengine.net/blog/2011/12/14/understanding-motion-in-games

@catbutt: Thanks for the feedback, yes it doesn't actually capture the cursor, it moves it back on the edges of the screen, it works with a single monitor but not multiple ones, that's something I should indeed fix :)

@thygrrr: Thanks for your feedback! Interactions definitely lack feedback, that's something I regret not taking the time to add :/

Night Terrors by mrsylar59 2017-08-02T10:23:05Z

I liked the mood and the tension. I played on my keyboard so I don't know what it's like on a pad but gradual speed would be nice, I wanted to walk sometimes to avoid running into red batteries. Ah and I *think* batteries can spawn exactly where you stand, which is a pretty serious flaw, since you can instantly lose energy for no reason :/ Congrats on your game otherwise!

Sorceress by j-nat 2017-08-02T12:46:00Z

I couldn't find the castle, it's nice and cute otherwise :)

Cute Chute by xel 2017-08-02T14:33:42Z

Haha at first I thought it was way too hard, didn't question my actions, I liked the twist. The graphics and scenery are really nice. I don't have any suggestions to give really... Congrats :)

Electro Swing by Sauski 2017-08-02T12:00:48Z

I like the graphic style, the music should probably not restart that much, level transitions could be more explicit, and I never understood how to kill the shield guys (killed one by accident). Otherwise it's a nice game, congrats :)

Charge by ohmaigawd 2017-08-02T14:23:04Z

The music gives it a Thomas Was Alone vibe that's nice. The graphics are simple but nice. I think the falling blocks are a little hard to predict, but overall I like the concept :)

Broken Shuttle by Nyri0 2017-08-01T08:07:01Z

I especially liked that the talented green pilot woman didn't take no shit from that useless pessimist piece of crap octopus man. Go green women.

ZombieZurvivor by Mads 2017-08-02T10:16:05Z

The line of sight is pretty cool. I think the monsters have more or less health? It doesn't really show until you try to shoot them, which can be surprising. That's interesting because you want to kill them fast but not waste energy, and you never really know how many shots you need to kill them. I guess that was intended? Congrats on your first entry! :D

Light Switch Crusader by TedScottPilgrim 2017-08-01T21:17:54Z

Oh my god are the cats animated with human skeletons or something? They're so creepy! Awesome game, congrats :)

Owld by TeddyDD 2017-08-02T14:40:02Z

The beginning is confusing. Afterwards catching things in flight is tricky/random. But the idea is pretty great, the humor is on point, the graphics are nice. Congratulations :)

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Kabloo8 by samh 2017-12-06T09:06:44Z

Awesome! I got around 298 and then stopped but it looks like once you get the hang of it it never gets harder. Is that something that needs fixing or a philosophical choice? Are you against hardcore players? What are your views on the latest AC?

LD42 — Running out of space

Human Tangram by nusan 2018-08-15T11:43:14Z

Interesting game, makes me think of Papers, Please. Would have been nice if the pieces showed their shape even when not hovering them, that would help to think about the puzzle, since the body parts don't exactly match the shapes.

Flesh Packer by nervous-composers 2018-08-16T11:59:22Z

I haven't rated yet, but here's a comment anyway. I liked the vibe and the humour, but I'm kind of worried it's transphobic. I'm not complaining about the trashy stuff, but rather the whole "she's a male" thing. You can absolutely say she's a woman with a penis and then do whatever, but after some point you keep refering to the body as male, as "him". Then again, there's not enough context to actually judge on that, it's just that it felt close to being transphobic. Not knowing, I'd rather refrain from rating it, because if it gets clearer than there is no transphobia going on here, I actually found the game pretty funny and the graphics neat. Could you clarify on your intentions?

SANDSTORM by Lucien Catonnet 2018-08-15T16:23:59Z

Hello @naked-kiwi, we've seen this error before and for now it's always been linked to outdated graphics card drivers. Could you try to update those and get back to us if it still doesn't work? You may want to check if your hardware has support for Vulkan too, especially if your computer dates more than a few years. Take a look at this [list](https://vulkan.gpuinfo.org/vulkansupport.php#windows) and try to find your GPU, if it isn't there then I'm sorry but chances are your hardware isn't compatible with Vulkan and you won't be able to play our game :/

SANDSTORM by Lucien Catonnet 2018-08-24T09:31:16Z

Hey @remco! Thanks for the feedback! I agree with everything you pointed at, we were aware of most, just didn't get enough time to fix before the deadline... We may polish the game a little after the ratings are over if we find the time :) (btw you can exit the game with alt-F4, but I understand it's a bit bold to rely on the player to do that)

Sadly the input part of the engine isn't advanced enough yet to allow correct configuration for multiple controllers, so I decided to support X360 pads only (it's on my todo list to improve this aspect).

The engine is open source, it's actually even public domain, here's a [link](https://github.com/Lyatus/L) if you want to check it out!

Vulkan has been pretty great so far, I did the switch quite recently (about two months ago), mostly because of threading reasons (GL was a pain). To be honest my biggest regret about Vulkan is that there is no WebVulkan (which _kinda_ makes sense), therefore no web build for games :/ Otherwise everything is really great!

SANDSTORM by Lucien Catonnet 2018-09-30T07:54:55Z

Hey @blinkenlights, sorry for the *extremely* late answer, but there's now a somewhat stable Linux build up on the itch.io page.

Zachary's Memory by namnam 2018-08-18T13:15:06Z

Hey! It's been a while! This is a really interesting game, I love how you managed to do so much with so little. I'm kind of disappointed by the fact that categorizing one memory wrong leads to the whole timeline being erased, I understand why it fit your design but it felt too punitive, especially in the context of a gameplay that is pretty fuzzy (I mixed up a memory of a doctor prescribing water sport and the retirement home, I feel like I had no way of knowing those were two separate timelines). I liked the writing too (I played in french), although at first I was worried about the depiction of girls (also gay people) but then realized they were the views of the character at that age, which made sense in a way. It's too bad I couldn't get to read the three timelines I messed up :/ Still, congratulations !

Block Fall by GeroX 2018-08-15T14:35:39Z

Phew... Okay I did 70... by basically mashing the arrow keys and firing constantly. As it's been said already the controls are really what breaks this game. Maybe using the mouse the control where you fire would be helpful?

NHYRGLYOTRAGHN by legulysse 2018-08-15T11:19:49Z

Nice! I liked the music, too bad there wasn't much more sound (for boulders and magic bullets). Kudos for using your own game engine :)

CLAUSTRO by Blinkenlights 2018-08-15T16:29:06Z

Interesting game! A bit too much on the depressing tone maybe, but otherwise really interesting concept. It's the second word game I've seen (take a look at [BookBinding](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/bookbinding) if you haven't, it's really neat!), and I'm glad people are doing those :) I'm especially fond of the graphics, the start menu really looks nice!

Capture.PNG

French, Pen Price, DOOM! by Mmmuscus 2018-08-15T15:39:36Z

That felt as bad as school... Don't know if that's good or bad! I think the concept is interesting, I'd say the clunky controls kind of killed it though, the first thing I would change would be to add some feedback of whether the piece you hold will fit or go back in the pool, right now you just have to guess and it leads to a shitton of frustration (hence the very similarity with actual school, so, kudos?), and then feedback of which piece you're hovering in the pool. Good luck and keep it up for the next jam :)

Get Out Humans !!! by Jon_Nova 2018-08-15T16:02:20Z

My hand hurts... I didn't quite get I was actually shooting "people" at meteors at first but I thought it was a fun idea! Pretty cool graphics, too bad you didn't have time to add more content :/ Good luck for next time! :)

Bookbinding by caeonosphere 2018-08-15T15:18:31Z

Neat idea! I like how minimalist it all is, even with the soothing music and all, all feels very tidy. English is not my native language so I guess it got hard pretty quick for me but I still feel like it would be more enjoyable if you could sacrifice some points and plainly remove the last one or two letters if you want, I got stuck multiple times with a single Y or C and it felt like even though I had worked my way through multiple words, it was all for nothing :/

The controls felt nice to me, I understand some people may find it clunky but mouse control would have made me go back and forth between mouse and keyboard, instead I could just keep my hands on the keyboard and it felt good :)

Also I love the way you count points with IQ, it's such an absurd metric it made me laugh! I couldn't get beyond 150!

The first game of this jam I've actually restarted 4 or 5 times just to see if I could do better :P

Cluttered Mind by HAUO 2018-08-15T13:48:52Z

Wow that was nice! It's really a change from the other games! Graphics and sounds feel really unique, the whole thing may not amount to much content in the end but I thought it was really polished and personal (if that makes sense). I'm very glad I stumbled upon this game :)

Mailbox Trouble by Borka223 2018-08-15T14:03:42Z

Nice entry for a first game jam! At least you didn't overscope!

Clot! by Ghoster 2018-08-15T19:39:28Z

This game seems interesting but the controls were buggy with the Xbox 360 controller: the blob keeps going bottom-left if you don't touch the stick (probably because you need to implement a deadzone in your handling of the input, meaning if the axis has an absolute value under a certain threshold, you act as if it were 0) and I couldn't move the frozen blocks, I tried using the dash and random buttons but nothing did it :(

Otherwise, the sound is pretty cool, the visuals are really cute and coherent, kudos for making a really cute game icon and a good looking itch.io page! I hope you update the game with a fix for the controller, I'd love to play it some more :)

Plant's Conquest by Sam Estep 2018-08-15T14:21:16Z

Very short (or I didn't understand), but the graphics and music were spot on! I like the idea of a growing plant, it's too bad you didn't have time to make more content, but it's unsurprising from the way you seem to have made your levels, as I understand it every graphical asset is specific to the scene, which makes it really pretty and enjoyable but also hard to extend in three days :/ Other people have said it but it was hard to understand what was happening after the first level, I kind of guessed because of the visual feedback (translucent white areas) but otherwise didn't know what I was doing. I'm really looking forward to your next entries or even if you get to continue this game, you clearly were on the right track, keep it up :)

Cosmic Escape 1999 by Chocolat-Endive 2018-08-15T16:45:27Z

Oh gosh! This game was really short but you won so many points so fast! - Godot Engine :heavy_check_mark: - Pixelated look :heavy_check_mark: - Crazy audio :heavy_check_mark: (Pierre Henry much?) - Rebindable controls :heavy_check_mark: (seriously?) - SPACE :heavy_check_mark: - Hyperspace effect :heavy_check_mark:

I'm in awe, that was a really great find, I can't wait to see what you'll do next time :)

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Omelettes by stevenjmiller 2018-12-04T12:52:33Z

It has a really nice feel to it! Well polished, I like the sober graphics too, and the puzzles and mechanics are well balanced, pretty unusual for a jam game! Congratulations :)

ROBO-KEY by Togimaro 2018-12-07T23:10:43Z

Wow that kind of blew my mind! I especially love the fact that it's a turn-based platformer, removes all skill from the gameplay and only focuses on puzzle solving, brilliant! Bringing a lot of the decision making prior to actually moving the robot by making the player choose the abilities beforehand is also a really good idea in my opinion, it annihilates the brute-force option and forces you to think way ahead of execution. The artstyle is really cute and the music is nice too, the whole thing is coherent and well polished. I've had a few bugs(?), sometimes on reset the right key gets unbound, sometimes not. Also I don't understand what it means when the robot "gets stuck", it would be nice to have an explanation of that state somewhere. Overall a really good entry, one of my favourites so far, congratulations :)

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-05T13:03:57Z

I'm rather fond of the concept, destroying the platforms is a nice touch. The sort of scale model graphics are pretty good! I think the weakest part of this game are the controls, it feels slow and some jumps rely too much on the character's upward inertia, which feels weird. Otherwise good job :)

Also I got a bug where I couldn't get past a level even though I had the resources? Apparently others have reported it already... blotbug.png

Blót by Imphenzia 2018-12-05T14:18:34Z

@imphenzia Yes I played through the first level, then died, then clicked "continue" and then this happened :/ Also on my first try of the second level after the continue, I couldn't get the hay resource (or is it cloth?), but afterwards I could.

Noah's Balloon by nettleflap 2018-12-07T22:43:00Z

Oh yeah! Banjo! The music is really great, the graphics are very polished, voices are a nice touch. Controls are interesting but the game is too difficult I think, spikes pop your balloon from pretty far. Overall very nice game :)

Blót by SalamiChild 2018-12-05T12:47:23Z

Kept getting stuck when jumping in the first level... After three restarts I stopped. Too bad because I realy like the graphics! The controls seemed good apart from the aforementioned bugs.

Sachristmas ! by Kerdelos 2018-12-06T12:52:09Z

Arh I didn't see the timer and only gave 3 gifts! But they were the right ones at least! I think it could be interesting to read what a present is before picking it up, this way you'd end up with a more traditional memory game, and you get more ways to go from house to house and present to present. I was surprised there was no button to restart once reaching the end of the game, or maybe I missed it?

Occult Defence Agency Budgeting Simulator by Zarkonnen 2018-12-05T14:13:52Z

Nice! I played only once but I'd love to see what other outcomes are possible :)

Tower of Sacrifice by notime4games 2018-12-07T21:20:10Z

Nice concept! I like how you really end up compromising between going to the next level or making sure you'll have enough blood. It may have been too easy but it's better that way for a jam game I think. Too bad there was no music, the graphics have a nice dark atmosphere and a few organ notes would have been the cherry on top. I figured it was probably lack of time but the sword enemies lack a feedback before their attack, even if they're pretty easy as is (I never got hit), I believe it's unfair not to warn the player, even shortly before. Oh also I'm unsure but I think there was no coyote time? That could make the jumping a little less frustrating. Overall good entry, congratulations :)

Void Light by nusan 2018-12-05T12:14:43Z

Yes, I definitely did understand everything about this game, it's crystal clear...

A Walk In The Neighborhood by aeveis 2018-12-05T13:11:13Z

Oh yeah that was exactly what I wanted to play :D It's really cute and I'm glad I had a button to bark at the end. Keep making games like those!

Tama Gone Wrong by Lucien Catonnet 2018-12-07T20:14:16Z

@geckoo1337: haha I actually pretty much copied the pseudocode from the A* wikipedia page and adapted to my needs, so really there's no glory in that :)

@hadesfury: that's interesting! have you tried other PICO-8 games recently and were they as laggy? was it generally slow or did some actions take time?

@doomshmuck: yes I agree it lacked some text, there's a sound when your tama refuses to eat candy but it's too hard to notice I think

@rolly: a longer eating animation for the last stage would have been good indeed!

Diaball by Antti Haavikko 2018-12-08T10:40:53Z

Very good graphics and music! I like the runes and how the contrast is really working with the gameplay. I like the puzzle part of the gameplay but I'm honestly disappointed that it was mixed with skill, having to hold click and release at the right time felt tedious and frustrating, there was latency to take into account, and, for me, usually too much time between the "ha! I get it" moment and the "well I finally pulled it off" moment. I'd rather have had way harder puzzles but no need for skill (but that's like, my opinion, man). The particle effects are a nice touch but maybe too abundant? Or at least particles should disappear after some time, I had some slowdowns on failures :/

Also I encountered a few bugs! One I can repro 100%: if you hold click before the ball appears, then the slowdown works but you don't see the helping white lines. Another one I can't repro: sometimes after leaving slowdowns (possibly on failure) the music would stay slow, maybe you update actual slowdown and music slowdown in separate places and it desync'd?

Anyway overall really good especially for a compo! Congratulations! :)

Keyboard Twister by Papercookies 2018-12-07T22:30:13Z

I very much liked the music! It's a funny concept, I always want to make that kind of game because we tend to forget the many keys we can work with using keyboards. For a real twister experience though you'd have to introduce multiplayer! I didn't quite get the link to the theme, unless it's your fingers you're supposed to sacrifice, I shall accept that answer. Nice rendering too, dithering always warms my heart :)

Consilium - A history of life and choices by Gaming Night 2018-12-07T21:50:50Z

Really nice graphics, really nice audio too! I like your choice of colors, they go well with the gameplay. I'm not a huge fan of the gameplay itself though. To be honest when reading the description I readied myself for a balancing game, but instead I felt like I really just had to go in a single direction and juggle with the tiles. You said that harmony was a better choice than constant progress but it doesn't look like the game reflects that, I may have totally misunderstood though, maybe some things could have made your point clearer (like the social harmony multiplier, I didn't get how it was calculated and how it impacted things). Good entry nonetheless, congratulations :)

consilium.png

Lava Luva by mcovert 2018-12-04T13:05:50Z

I like the concept, but it lacks balance. As long as you don't let the anger bar go all the way up, the game basically plays itself, but otherwise the volcano fucks everything up in seconds, it'd be good to have varying degrees of fuck ups I suppose. It's too bad there no sound too, it could really have improved the whole vibe, which I thought was rather on point with the theme! The graphics could probably benefit with some sort of ambient occlusion, to further the "small model" style. Overall pretty good, congrats on shipping :)

Sacrifices in the Cat Yard by Lex 2018-12-07T20:47:48Z

Cute game! The cat's sprites and animations are really good, you captured the cat's pride perfectly. I liked the music and the ending too :)

Downfall by Dorukh 2018-12-06T18:29:21Z

Argh I'm absolutely stuck at the fifth level, no matter what I do I can't save three cities. I'd love to see more but for now it's pretty great! The triangulated patterns on the tiles are a nice touch, also I love hexagons so this speaks to me on a deep level. I wish I could say more, I'll edit if I ever get unstuck. Congratulations nonetheless :) EDIT: Hell yeah I just beat the fifth level!

Dungeon Clicker by legulysse 2018-12-05T12:40:26Z

Really neat music, it didn't even feel repetitive after a while. I like the concept, it's a bit simplistic though: click on red cells, double click on blue dots. The space bar press became tiresome after some time, maybe add an upgrade that autosends adventurers? That would be very clicker-like :stuck_out_tongue:

Also "They don't need to be paid. They are fueled by passion.", I see what you did there :smirk:

Rainbow Cats by Niarkou 2018-12-06T13:51:35Z

Same as @linheha, it's good to see those characters again! Great graphics, sounds, and particle effects! I had a lot of trouble on the fifth level, whereas I found those afterwards much easier (or at least more straightforward), maybe the order could be different? Otherwise good puzzles!

DEMON HELL by Valden 2018-12-07T13:09:06Z

The music is nice. It's really cool that you implemented a leaderboard! I'm really not a fan of the ESDF setup, especially since it's just as easy to bind the same actions to W/Z and A/Q. I also think the right click would have better suited the purpose for pickups. The chromatic abberation is too much, it's supposed to appear in the corners of the screen, not everywhere homogenously. I think getting hit lacks feedback, I tend to die without ever feeling like I had been hit.

Not Me! by Gio- 2018-12-07T22:16:21Z

Reigns-like game! Cool! I like the whole vibe, good music (although quickly repetitive), the art style is really good (I suppose very inspired by Reigns too). I like that type of gameplay but it didn't feel objective enough, you don't get enough tangible leads to actually get anywhere, and their "alibis" aren't really alibis. I like the humour but it may be getting too much in the way of the actual gameplay.

Kudos for putting ace people in there :)

Dark Villagers by AwiX 2018-12-07T12:42:27Z

An interesting game with a kind of mechanics. I put a rating) Please rating and me, thanks in advance)

Gears by DJH 2018-12-08T22:58:19Z

Gameplay-wise it's an interesting platformer, but some things stop it from attaining its potential. Controls are weird, I'd have preferred a single button for both jumps. It's pretty buggy, but it totally makes sense for snapping mechanisms, they're hard to do right. I expected more level design around the orientation of the gears, and less "connect many gears then jump high". Honestly though the gameplay ideas here are really interesting, there is definitely potential! Congratulations :)

LD44 — Your life is currency

The Last Minutes by Togimaro 2019-04-30T07:55:40Z

Nice game! I think I missed the bathroom and bedroom though, I don't know where they were? I guess the door wasn't visible enough? Otherwise cool graphics and mood, fairly straightforward use of the theme although I didn't even think the Devil was talking to me in the beginning, so that was a nice startup dialogue. Keep it up :)

Fireflies by Kerdelos 2019-04-30T10:05:12Z

Wow ok, I didn't expect the simple "swap between life and glow" thing to blow up into such complex puzzles, that's pretty amazing! The art is nice but maybe lacks some coherency (I'm thinking about the frogs being higher resolution than the rest for instance), more animations (especially when moving) would've been great. The level design is really good so far, I was a bit disappointed that at some point I couldn't see the whole level at once, it makes the trials and errors seem more arbitrary. The sound is nice, I'm glad you went for a calm discreet music, it doesn't get on your nerves when you've been looking at a puzzle for minutes. Overall good entry! Keep it up :)

P.S.: Thinking about it, I realized that a "back" button like in Baba Is You would have vastly improved the quality of the experience, and also a pause before starting the next level (to differentiate between dying and succeeding).

safecrack by torcado 2019-04-30T18:09:40Z

Haha that "you want enemies to hit you" twist is pretty good, congratulations on dodging the theme so well! Pretty much everything is good, but I was a bit disappointed with the upgrade interface, it doesn't say much about what you're actually buying :/

Ad vs People by nusan 2019-04-30T14:54:50Z

Cool concept, I actually got caught up trying to maximize benefits! It definitely looks like a pain to balance. I think the help panel could have been visible directly at startup.

Finding Cookie by samh 2019-04-30T10:18:38Z

Impressive world generation! Alas I was unable to find Cookie :( The sounds and graphics are nice, I like the phrases you display whenever you find cats. I couldn't find the theme anywhere but I'm not gonna blame you. Also bats are little shits, how come _their_ bullets go through objects and not mine?

SACRIFIGHTS by Lumpy 2019-05-01T22:20:18Z

I can't believe you did this in three days, this is an insane amount of content of good quality, congratulations! I really love the whole rogue in an enclosed space idea, it's brilliant! The graphics have so much personality and look really good, the audio is wonderful too, the voices can be a bit cringy but they definitely add something to the demons' personalities. The main problems are probably balance, I've read about people having a hard time, however I've played through the game without any difficulty, the demons were almost always kept sealed long enough for me to kill them right there.

I keep getting `Error: no valid storage adapters found`, any idea where that comes from?

Hell's Pinball by Valden 2019-04-30T08:41:54Z

The graphics are stunning (so much attention to details!), the music is really cool, the sound effects are also on point, the overall feel of the game is really well done! It's really refreshing to see a pinball game, it sounds overdone but because it does, we don't actually see any, isn't it ironic? (Don't you think?)

Now for the sad part, I was UNABLE to go three times into this stupid shop, I lit up the 'HELL' letters a thousand times, I poked the 4 purple demons a thousand times also, went up to a score of a million, three hundred thousand, but still never could go three times into that little shop cavern thingy. Which makes me sad because I couldn't experience the whole game.

You made a great game nonetheless, congrats!

P.S.: Something else I forgot, there seems to be performance issues after some time, maybe some effects or whatever don't get properly destroyed? I didn't take it into account in my rating because it wasn't game breaking.

Ripped The Life by Alienplay 2019-05-04T15:22:25Z

Very nice game overall, good choice of music, cute graphics that convey the level design well, the mechanic is interesting and the level design itself was pretty good, I'm curious to see what you could do with more levels.

Two things you could work on: - The "spell ball" always spawns in front of the character, and the character's orientation is determined by your movement, not your cursor, that means if you last moved left, and try to click at your character's right, the character will throw a spell ball in its face. Considering your character's orientation has no other purpose in the game, I would make it so that it follows your cursor, which would make it easier to move and aim in opposite directions (I hope that was clear enough). - The two icons showing when you fail, one's for restarting and the other is to go back to the start, but that meaning wasn't clear and there was no text to make it clearer, you can probably guess I'm mentioning it because I had to restart your game halfway through by misclicking on the wrong icon haha!

Congratulations for shipping your first entry, keep it up :)

Nutty Twins by Supernapie 2019-05-01T09:16:56Z

Haha at first I was like "but how do I jump with the red one?", that's a really cool mechanic! The graphics are original and efficient, very coherent as a whole, nice color palette, the sounds are satisfying and the music is fitting and doesn't get in the way (probably because there aren't that many levels). Level design has its highs and lows, the last level was too easy, but some were really great, the first level is a good introduction. I would have loved more levels, and maybe a message saying which level you're currently playing. I played on keyboard and didn't have much trouble with the controls, but if the levels were longer it would've been very frustrating to mix up the respawn buttons. You pretty much dodged the theme but I cannot blame you haha.

Honestly a very good entry, I'm surprised you didn't get more ratings already! Congratulations on shipping :)

Treasure by Iswara 2019-04-30T19:03:05Z

I keep falling down a hole in the first level and can't continue.

Treasure by Iswara 2019-05-01T08:39:56Z

Ah! That's actually an interesting twist, but maybe it should've been clearer in some way? I think it would've been better if the change in jump height were way smaller, and you ended up realizing that you can't make the necessary jump after a few levels, that would've had more impact I think. Here you either know that treasure makes you heavier and you just never take it, or you don't know it and get stuck after a few jumps.

Over by alixmi 2019-04-30T09:14:36Z

Very coherent and pretty graphics, maybe the startup text lacks more explanation as to what's actually happening. The sound might not be much but it seals the deal of the graphics which is great. It's a bit frustrating not to be able to collect all souls but I'm fairly sure that's part of the intention of the game. Overall nice entry, congrats on your first lone submission :)

There seem to be performance issues, especially when restarting the game.

Capigtalist by Swart 2019-04-30T18:55:27Z

Couldn't go past the first boss either, kept jumping on him, he started blinking, but that's it.

No More Bleeding by JM Studio 2019-04-30T11:10:15Z

Nice entry! The graphics and environment are really good, the cameras are mostly good, it's too bad it's a bit too dark to really appreciate it. The whole Inside vibe is really cool, the sound was well done too. Animations by themselves were good, but they weren't really well integrated, I was especially frustrated with the inertia of the character and recovery animations that would sometimes block the character (press Right without releasing, fall, recovery animation, no more movement even if Right is pressed, you have to release and then press again to continue movement). The camera/laser gameplay was alright but controlling the character could be frustrating and that made it irritating, it's pretty unnerving to die because your character can't get over an obstacle without the speed of a cheetah to back it up.

Blood Debt by FriedYeti 2019-04-30T16:29:04Z

Oh yeah a clicker! Nice graphics, fits the theme! Understanding the icons was hard though, maybe tips when you hover the icons would have helped? Also the icons on the main game menu are not in the same order as the icons in the popup windows, which doesn't help. I think it lacked choices, I didn't feel like I had to carefully think what next move I should make. I ended up with a score of 31, but honestly I didn't know how I could've done worse or better. Overall a good entry, congratulations on shipping :)

LD45 — Start with nothing

Tale of the Dreamer by Criobite 2019-10-10T19:06:04Z

Oh yeah I love that art style! I'm actually curious to know how you render your scene, are there fixed animated sprites or is it vector graphics being wobbled at every frame? I like the paper texture of the background. The gameplay itself is very basic, if it were me I would've gone with more animations and story and less "classical mechanics".

By the way there's another paper/B&W (sorta) game that I liked in this LD, maybe you'll enjoy it too: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/45/oje

WADJ by HolyBlackCat 2019-10-12T12:51:46Z

Cute and coherent sprites, cool laser particle effect. Interesting gameplay mechanics and you managed to create a good level design with them. It seems you collect gems in the game but there's no counter anywhere, at the end I didn't know if I had collected them all or missed some. Kudos for making it with your own tech, double kudos for supporting AZERTY keyboards out of the box <3

World Collector by Joe Williamson 2019-10-08T21:30:18Z

That was really great! I want to play more levels! Maybe the effect on the music when zooming out is a bit too accentuated, and the character controls are a bit too rough, but everything else is so good, I sincerely hope you'll continue this game sometime. Congratulations!

Start with NOThInG by Kerdelos 2019-10-08T19:54:14Z

Nice puzzle game! The graphics are cute and coherent, the music is very adequate (puzzle-like), the mechanics are interesting, transfering properties to objects led to varied puzzles that surprised me (won't spoil though). I haven't finished the last level though, my brain isn't ready for this yet. Congratulations!

VELOCE by torfi 2019-10-09T18:59:11Z

Woah nice game, simple yet oddly addictive mechanic, I found myself dodging things without thinking, the music helps a lot. It's a really interesting thing that by having your "dot" only shoot in specific directions you find yourself needing to move around completely differently! I only wish there'd be more lives or some way to start at a certain level, because restarting from level 1 gets boring when you get used to the higher levels. Congratulations!

Snowball by nusan 2019-10-08T19:12:01Z

Impressive technology, very nice graphics and pretty cool music. I'd maybe wish for more challenge, I didn't die once. Level design was good, it never felt overdone.

Ashes to Ash by johnfn 2019-10-12T10:51:30Z

Very cute graphics, awesome music, good writing, not-so-good controls. It surprised me that when using a lense, pressing the key for another lense doesn't work, you have to disable the current lense before enabling another one, which felt clunky. I wish lenses showed what I could interact with that would have different results, I kept talking to people again with lenses but it never changed anything. I didn't get what the top-right crystal on the screen meant?

Click the Balloons by SaraJS 2019-10-12T13:31:02Z

Could be an interesting game but I think a pretty bad idea for a jam game. I'm currently playing tens of other jam games and honestly I can't restart your game a thousand times to click on ballons and fish until I understand why the triangle makes me lose the game. I guess your game was supposed to be frustrating so congrats on that, but otherwise, hard pass. Oh and I like the balloon popping sound.

Jesaouf VI by shubart 2019-10-08T20:11:44Z

Haha very funny entry, I'm not very good though I couldn't get past level 2 and my best score is 3560. I don't really understand how lives work, if there's a hidden health bar before you lose one, I'd rather be able to see if I'm close to losing a life. Congrats!

Nothing to Say by celia14 2019-10-09T12:11:29Z

Heartwarming game, the graphics are really cute and to the point, the concept is a really nice way to explore a dialogue tree, I could only wish for a nice music to go with it, otherwise an excellent entry, congratulations!

ARCHITECT by Lucien Catonnet 2019-10-12T14:07:41Z

@netmute Sorry you're experiencing this issue! It seems AudioContext is not defined for Safari and older Chrome versions. I've sent a fix for that and it should be available on the live version now. You may have to refresh the cache when starting the live version if you get the same issue. Please tell us if you experience further issues. Thanks for playing the game!

ARCHITECT by Lucien Catonnet 2019-10-12T16:34:00Z

@netmute Sorry for the delay, I've been testing with a friend with a Mac because I'm Mac-less, and it should at least work now, but maybe without the sound, that may require more investigation.

Dive Dog by eva 2019-10-10T19:48:37Z

Cute graphics! Would've been nice to support arrow keys probably. I'm very bad at these games though x)

NO SPOIL! by DiFFtY 2019-10-08T19:00:12Z

I absolutely love the characters in this, overall the game looks really nice. It's too bad the grabbing mechanic isn't exploited more, like an alternative ending in which you actually drag Clém- huh the hypothetical roommate outside of the room to avoid hearing the spoilers maybe?

I WANT YOU TO REUSE THE CHARACTER ASSETS TO BUILD MORE GAMES. THE PEOPLE WANT THE CLEMENT BROTHERS' GAMES.

Baby steps by freso 2019-10-11T19:01:36Z

Very cool and coherent audio and graphics! It seems the texts are position-based only, maybe there should also be a short timer to make sure you have the time to read them, the text for when I filled the bottle went away too fast and I didn't quite get what happened right away. Congratulations on shipping!

Epoch by Cosmic Adventure Squad 2019-10-09T19:16:28Z

That was such a nice experience! The graphics and music are really on point, I kinda felt Outer Wilds vibes. The gameplay is obviously Spore/agar.io but it's very well done and the overall feel of the game is what really does it for me. Very cool idea to combine 2D and 3D techniques! Congratulations on shipping a game that polished!

King Conga by Tad 2019-10-08T21:01:44Z

Hilarious game! The graphics are really cute and it gets the point across even if the characters and animations are simplistic! I love the mood and the general idea, congratulations on shipping this game! Bonus points for your communication around the game which also made me laugh :)

The Void by The Enigma 2019-10-10T21:36:30Z

Very interesting idea but really lacks good starting points, an example is worth a thousand manuals. Also there should probably be more basic geometric operations such as rotating vectors or computing dot and cross products. I also don't understand why there are 3D vectors when the game seems like it just ignores the Z component?

ØJE by Gaming Night 2019-10-09T20:54:04Z

Amazing art style! The concept is very cool, it was interesting to go back to the same platforms and have to tread around them differently. I got all but half of the blue coins, it started getting a bit too hard then (well to be honest if I weren't playing many games for Ludum Dare then I'd have taken more time to finish the game). I'll say it again but I _really_ love the black and white lighting, the trees look amazing! Oh and maybe allowing to use the Up Arrow to jump would be nice too? But that's probably just me liking my inputs close to each other. Congratulations on shipping that game!

P.S. The music fits perfectly, but if you haven't composed it I don't think you should get audio ratings because of it right? Should I just rate the death sound?

P.P.S After your response I realized how much audio I had missed when first playing your game, so I upped your rating, I especially liked the sound made when new objects appear!

How to Make a Sandwhich by Ziamor 2019-10-12T15:46:14Z

Amazingly cute graphics with an interesting pastel-like palette! The main character is especially cute. The music is cool too, it's very simple but it goes well with the game. The collecting is well polished, it's satisfying to take everything, and it's cool that nothing takes more than two hits to be gathered. Too bad you didn't have time to make an end screen, I'd argue that it's totally legit to add it now if you want. Congratulations!

Tale of the Toad King by Beebo Studios 2019-10-09T19:28:40Z

Doing funny voiceover is pretty cool for a jam game, I wished the music ducked when the narrator spoke though, I couldn't hear most of the words :/

The frogs are really cute <3

Revolutionaries and Pixels by Hare Software 2019-10-11T19:38:28Z

Really good graphics! I see a lot of potential but in its current state, either I'm very bad at this game (very plausible) or the combat system isn't very tactical at all, everything goes very fast, there's no way to micro or macro manage anything, I tend to just put two comrades behind crates and then kind of cross my fingers, am I missing something? I love turn-based tactical games and so I wished your game were turn-based I guess.

Rainbow cube by Yheeky 2019-10-11T20:49:56Z

Very nice idea, I like how the graphics end up much affected by the gameplay and level design. It quickly shows however that the levels are mostly more of the same, maybe there should be more mechanics as the game continues? Regarding programming, the cube seems to be physically simulated, which makes it stutter when moving, and increases the likelihood of going through walls, in general you should avoid making your character physically simulated. I thought the color disappeared after some time but it turns out it's after some traveled distance, that's a very good decision in my opinion as it removes skill from puzzle solving. Maybe you could show the whole level in one screen when you complete it so as to show all the paint marks everywhere, a sort of recap of what you did.

Athenaeum by Nikos 2019-10-11T21:42:15Z

That's a bit presumptuous isn't it?

Rail shooter prototype by Chocolat-Endive 2019-10-08T21:44:22Z

I love the graphics and the audio, it's really too bad there's almost no game. It sucks that you had technical issues :( I follow you on itch.io though so I'm waiting for the full version now :D Good luck!

Protoverse by Giome 2019-10-10T21:10:17Z

Very cool music, transitions between tracks could be smoother but the progression is still badass, a very neat theme for cosmic drama. I think I enjoyed more my play without the gravity modifiers, simply flooding the game with particles. 5/5 exactly following the theme. I think I'd love to be able to balance a solar system, it seems hard to get this result with the current interactions available. Cool visual effect for the black hole. I didn't get an ending though, I don't know if there was supposed to be an ending?

The Void by Bozarre 2019-10-08T20:40:26Z

Great mood, the music is simple and a bit repetitive but mesmerizing, the graphics are nice, I wish there were diagonal movement, and I don't know when to stop because it looks big and a bit empty to be honest, I guess maybe the game should hold your hand just a little bit more? Congratulations on shipping a GB game!

Hello World by NoobException 2019-10-09T21:18:20Z

Interesting idea, I couldn't get past Level 2 at 92%, I didn't know what to do because `guide` did not print anything anymore and I couldn't find anything new to build. The commandline could definitely benefit from autocompletion and history. It's not clear where you have to click to gain focus on the textinput, ideally the whole command window should make you focus on the input. Why does the game show things outside of the commandline? The level indicator and the buildings could be displayed just like resources via a command, and then the game could be played in an actual terminal. I hope you'll continue working on the concept :)

Sticky Memory by Fractal 2019-10-09T22:07:19Z

The concept is interesting but currently it's excessively hard. I don't really know what could make it easier or less frustrating though :/

Refuge by LadyPossum 2019-10-10T20:45:53Z

Huh for a first attempt at making a game it's a really good result! I especially like the graphics, you should put more images in the game description on the ldjam.com entry. I couldn't have finished the game without your instructions though, as it was already pointed out, interactable things should probably stick out more (whether it be with different artstyle or actual hover feedback). Congratulations on shipping your first game, do continue!

Small Town by Emiliabea 2019-10-10T19:25:49Z

Really cute game! I played all three shops, the cats was the best one. I wish there were a feedback when hovering interactable zones. Congratulations on shipping this game!

PUMP by mmatt_ugh 2019-10-11T21:23:08Z

Wow I really love the palette, sprites and animations here, especially the bouncy thing that has that one frame where it's stretched, it's really cool! It's interesting to have the spikes not hurt you when simply walking through them, it allowed you to do subtle things in level design.

Wanderings of a High School Boy by 2 Odd Diodes 2019-10-12T14:30:43Z

Amazing artstyle and animations, the shadows add a very nice touch. I really wanted to experience more of the story but the end (?) felt very abrupt. After it restarted the game I didn't know if I had to continue or stop, I stopped because I didn't want to spend too much time replaying the game for nothing :/ Still a very nice entry, congratulations!

Memories of Eleph by Leandroc 2019-10-12T13:10:59Z

Great mood, palette and artstyle, good choice of music. Sadly I couldn't finish the game, I kept dying at the leftmost puzzle and it started getting frustrating having to do the game over and over again. It's a bit hard to read the story bits when you're basically stressed you're going to die again if you don't hurry. It took some time before I realized I could throw the ball, since I had seen pedestals I thought it was an object I had to put somewhere, maybe a prompt with the throw input would have helped?

Soulful by aconfusedragon 2019-10-09T19:50:28Z

Very cool graphics, lovely music! Is there no difficulty curve though? I had to let myself die at score 2940 because I was piling up friendly ghosts and avoiding bad candy wasn't getting harder. Congratulations!

Asomatous by RoastedPotatoe 2019-10-12T12:23:21Z

The art is nice and has a lot of personality! I really enjoyed the evolution of the gameplay, perhaps the very first part was hard to understand, but I guess it's because you control the soul instead of the head. Climbing up the stairs with one leg felt clunky. Did you compose the music? It's very good and sets a mesmerizing mood! I had a minor bug where one of the colored spheres came out of its socket at some point, the puzzle still opened the door but one of the spheres wasn't actually in place anymore, I think it has to do with how when you pick up a sphere, the one you already had in your hand gets teleported or something. I may be wrong but it looks inspired by mexican folklore, is that the case?

LD46 — Keep it alive

Keep the Beet Alive by Tad 2020-04-21T12:36:40Z

Nice game, I'm not used to having to keep the beat _and_ concentrate on incoming enemies, so that was a nice challenge!

Motion Potion by Aphid98 2020-04-21T12:23:05Z

Looks really good but it is *WAY TOO HARD*. I can't beat it and it doesn't seem like I'm gaining mastery with more trials, I stopped playing when the physics ejected me out of the library. It's really too bad because the concept is really fun and it looks like you put a lot of effort into this game :/

Hommel by Supernapie 2020-04-21T08:31:11Z

Perfect hommel! :D

It took me some time to realize the black crosses were pickups, but I don't really have an idea how to improve that :/ Really like the art style, especially the white patterns! The sound design is really nice although the music may be a little repetitive (as usual in jam games, but since they're slow pads here maybe there could me more variations?). Are you using different pickup notes depending on the current measure? Also I think the screenshake and general landing effect would have benefited from being more or less powerful depending on the landing speed. Great entry, congratulations :)

The Well of the Past by Chocolat-Endive 2020-04-21T09:24:07Z

Interesting text adventure, I've only played it once though, it's kind of sad to be missing on content :/ The music is really neat, it gives a really great atmosphere! The inventory system didn't end up feeling necessary in my playthrough... I really like how you interpreted the theme! Congratulations on having no time management issues, that's always the hardest part in the end :D

MELT by mmatt_ugh 2020-04-21T08:47:41Z

Holy shit this is insane! The graphics are really nice, the music and sound are absolutely perfect (the end music blew my ears off), the game mechanic is really neat (and that first level with the music that starts oh my god it's really cool!!!), the level design really works, I could only wish for more. I *DO NOT* regret following you guys from the last Ludum event because you definitely delivered! Congratulations for this wonderful entry :)

DI(e)NO(t) by Thibaud Ligneul 2020-04-21T11:30:05Z

Really cute dinosaurs and general graphics. It was pretty hard and a bit too random, I ended up cheating by putting my dinosaurs outside of the screen x) I think you've got an interesting concept because if you don't click enough they wander and die but if you click too much they end up in the same place so a single hit could wipe them all at once, but it needs some refinement to avoid the whole randomness issue, and perhaps the dinos were a little too slow for the steering to matter. Cool entry, congratulations on shipping :)

P.S.: The cyranodocus is the best <3

Hikikomori Simulator by yeojoey 2020-04-21T09:52:11Z

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Kruznice by Split82 2020-10-06T11:43:37Z

Neat physics puzzle game! I would have loved a graphical reminder of the direction the circles were going to rotate, kept clicking the right mouse button to remember haha

Eternal Run by ping78 2020-10-16T18:11:47Z

Interesting concept, especially the fact that enemies you don't kill in one loop will still be there in the next. I would have liked a time limit per loop, to force you to go forward and deal with the consequences of your missed shots later. The controls could be better, the mouse sensitivity is too high by default. Jumping probably needs a sound feedback. The graphics are nice but the effects kind of go in the way of scene readability. Overall good job :)

Loopy Particle Simulator by nusan 2020-10-06T12:54:47Z

Really neat game! I wished for more tools, especially being able to select and move a whole bunch of pipes together! It's very pretty, especially the collision effects!

The music sucks though :/

EDIT: hehehe I was kidding about the music, it's really repetitive though, I wish I had had the time to do more

Golem Quest by celia14 2020-10-10T09:36:17Z

Neat programming game! I really like the graphics, with just the right amount of detail and a constrained yet very expressive color palette. I feel like sometimes I was more bruteforcing than actually thinking ahead what was going to happen, even though that may be my own fault. I think the breakable floors are a really interesting part because they force the player to think ahead and allow you to create a more complex level design without requiring a bigger space. Congrats!

STAMP! by Lucien Catonnet 2020-10-07T07:31:16Z

@lachezar-hubanov Hey thanks for playing! There should definitely be sound in the game, could you tell us which web browser you were using and under which OS? I know that for Chrome you may need to click on the game and allow sound (because of autoplay policy).

Loopomotive by JPiolho 2020-10-06T15:17:09Z

This game has really good graphics and a very neat thematic music. I really like the idea! I have to say though the difficulty is way too high, dodging cars is one thing, but having to do it 50 times is really just exhausting, especially as it doesn't really change all the while. Decreasing the number of cars for a level could help, but maybe a more forgiving gameplay could be nice too, allowing you to hit cars once or twice before you lose for instance.

Very nice entry anyway, the sloths are very cute <3

Roundabout Way by Quandtm 2020-10-06T13:28:57Z

It's a very simple concept and yet playing this game feels really good! Too bad it's so quick to finish! The music is obviously a delight, the graphics are on point, and the controls work well! For more difficulty, you could imagine having the car constantly lose speed, you'd have to regularly compensate with the acceleration input (did somebody say Flappy Bird?)

Light footsteps after the rain by Chocolat-Endive 2020-10-07T09:27:37Z

What a strange experience! Kind of resonated with the whole pandemic situation. The photography and sounds were really nice, I can't say I felt too invested in the characters though, but it's hard to do that with a few lines I guess. Congrats!

Good Morning, Beautiful World by Miyolophone 2020-10-10T17:28:41Z

Just wow! I didn't expect so much when I started playing! The music is fantastic, the humour is great, the UI design is pretty slick, it's honestly such a cool entry! As a french person, the whole french bit was extra funny to witness. You mention background art but I haven't seen any background??? Could it be a bug? Congratulations!

rip by mmatt_ugh 2020-10-06T11:52:20Z

Nice game prototype! You mention arrow keys for movement but really it's only playable with WASD to allow one hand for movement and the other for dragging blocks. I would love to see where this could go with multiple blocks and multiple behaviours! The music slaps as always <3

Looper by Shortbread 2020-10-07T09:39:52Z

Really cool idea and very good graphics! The music is a great choice too. I have to agree with other comments here, the main problem I see is that it's really hard to know which direction the circle will go when pressing a key after changing loop, it becomes really frustrating when you have to chain multiple moves pretty quickly. The tension is absolutely up the roof x) Great entry!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

The idea and graphical style are nice, but it felt very random/buggy. Maybe I just got the gameplay wrong. It seems like you're saying it's not really finished so it makes sense that controls may be weird. I hope to see your next game in a few months! :)

The best things about this game are definitely the graphics! It has a better pizza making mechanism than my game x)

Also there was no audio, maybe you should disable the audio voting category? Or was that a bug?
