I got stuck when i found the weldgun. I had no idea what to do with it :) There was a nice gloomy ambience in this game. Perfect for a dark and lonely saturday night. Just what i needed.

Cute and funny game! Really like the small messages for when all those body parts touch.
I like the organic art style and the fact that you control the game with gestures. A timer mechanic would be nice to challenge the player a bit. It doesn't have to be clock it can be running out of water.
I liked to ruff oldschool graphics and the game play was fun. The only thing i would change, is that you don't collide with the tiles you put your hook in. Or that you bounce off of them. Because sometimes you get stuck against those tiles and you loose a lot of momentum when you run into them.
This game ticks some important boxes for me: easy to grasp after 10 seconds without lengthy instructions, challenging and tactical arcade gamestyle, simple but consistent graphics, lots of juicy effects, ... very good game!
I like the graphics and the turn based mechanic. I would just add a check if you get stuck and then present a game over dialog.
The physics and controls felt really solid. I like that the bodies stick around and make it more challenging to move around. I would make the background and UI more consistent with the style of the characters and maybe add some camera shakes. But still it was a very fun game :)
You have a very funny and nice looking art style. I liked the humor and i would like to see that reflected in some kind of textual player feedback in the game itself. I would add some startscreen with instructions, display some scoring and Win! and Lose! feedback. That was the only thing that was missing for me. Apart from that the execution of your game was very good and it was fun to play! I hope you get those last ratings to get to 20!
I really like the easy going mood in this game. You can spend some time in this game and relax and clean your spaceship a little. It reminds me of those little robot vacuum cleaners. I also like the combination of a topdown map with controls that let you move only one tile and one keypress at a time.
I love that you can use both the fetching and throwing of items at the same time. Minor point is there doesn't seem to be a way to replenish health. The quest items were also a little to hard to find. Running out of time was not fun and maybe there is no need to run out of time, if the fights are challenging enough. But the graphics and sound were polished very well and the controls for the movement and attacks feel very natural. Some good team work here!
Fun and short game! I liked that it was so short, but wouldn't mind if it was just a little longer! The glitchy sounds were cool. You have an original style :)
My screen was a little bit to small to frame the game in. Maybe you could add the itch.io fullscreen button. Apart from that i really liked the graphics, the 3d modelling and shading. The atmosphere was really convincing. Good job!
@agecaf thanks for the feedback. I'll check on the wall jumping if i can improve it. Not sure why it sometimes glitches and sometimes doesn't.
@jackou I have a preference for the dpad, but i understand if the game doesn't use it for anything else i can just as well use both. That's a good idea. I'll add it to the improvements list. The swimming can probably be better controlled with a joystick also. Thanks for the feedback!
@gil4 thanks for the feedback and the suggestion. I also find the minimap a bit small. So i will try to make it bigger after the jam. I was afraid it would get in the way of the player.
@katie-dover and @jesusache thanx for the feedback. Regrabbing a suit is something i also felt was a bit off in timing. I’m still pondering about how to fix it. Glad you also liked the color pallete, katie. It’s running past my bedtime here in Europe and i need to catch a train in a few hours, but i’ll definitly check both your entries later.
@crneumre I didn't want to make it to difficult. So more people could finish the game. Balancing a game that way in a weekend is pretty hard to do. Without the swim suits it was more difficult, but they where to fun not to add them ;) but thanx for the feedback
@loveapplegames Thanks for the compliment. When you have a suit on you can move through the acid that runs off the walls in the third level. Is that what you mean by passing through walls?
@loveapplegames You were right there was a small bug where there could be fake walls. See dev log on itch. Thank you for bringing that up.
Thanks @wildcard. Those are some very good suggestions. I'll have to make a study about wall jump mechanics, because a lot of commenters brought this up.
Thanks for the feedback @wolar There is allready a force applied to bounce of the wall, but i’ll experiment adding some extra.
Hey @matank thanx for the feedback. We decided to add the suits to all dead ends, so players would not get trapped by the acid inside off a hall or against a ceiling. But yeah sometimes there are a lot of them.
@lekkel124 also thanks for the feedback. I'll see if i can find a windows pc this weekend to play your game.
It was very fun to play. The pace was just a little to fast for me to handle. I think the hit areas where you drop the items on the crew should be a little but bigger. They can be bigger then the sprites themselves. I dropped a lot of stuff next to them. The audible feedback you get for doing actions was really cool and kept me going. I now realise that i enjoy this type of gameplay more then i thought i did. I like the star trek references and the items that come out of the replicator where very cute. Good game!
Cool game! The only weird thing is that you sometimes have to start jumping earlier to get over some obstacles.
@jackou in that case i will correct 'The only weird thing' to 'An original idea' ;) I was writing a little fast on my lunchbreak :s
The graphics style really appealed to me. It reminds me of the style of the Nitrome studio. If you don't know them check them out. You'll like them. The gameplay was fun. I always like those cooldown timers on abilities and the enemies all had different and challenging attacks. One suggestion i have is to also support other keyboard layouts. Maybe arrow keys. WASD is not always easy to play on keyboards other then qwerty. But otherwise a very fun game!
The puzzles were really challenging. I liked that i had to think of different things for each one to solve them and you've put in some nice mind tricks to set the player on the wrong foot. After the 7th level you should have some screen to congratulate the player and not just cut to the menu. But hey it's a jam game ;) I also liked the little sounds that gave feedback to the player when you unlocked things. Fun game!
Very well done! The underwater feel was very real with just a few basic shapes and au point colors. The only thing i thought was missing, was a saved highscore. It doesn't need to be global leaderboard. Just local storage would be enough.
The idea that you can destroy the bricks underneath the enemies, make them fall and then kill them, is really cool. What is also pretty cool is that i got the enemies killing each other when i stood underneath one of them. I don't think i like the anti-aliased graphics, i would just round positions to whole pixels and turn anti-aliasing off. But you know maybe that is just my taste.
Fun game! The procedural generated levels make it fresh each time, the only problem was that the enemies could move through the platforms, which it thought was a little unfair. The graphics are well polished and the squishy sounds are fantastic. I would just add ambient background noise or something so those nice sound effects blend into it. Another suggestion i have is that i would enable the player to shoot up and down. Right now you can only fire on the horizontal axis, but it would be great to also be able to shoot on the vertical axis, maybe by pressing the up or down key when firing. But anyway: a very good game!
Super fun quest game! Fits the theme very well! Liked the details in the buildings very much!
Reminds me of Mortal Combat for the original gameboy. I played that game a lot on long bus trips. The lo-fi graphics style and color palette are awesome and never get boring. The variation in backgrounds makes it even better. The AI's are super smart and it's cool that opening scene has two of them fighting against each other.
The idea of the switch to being a coin was very cool. The end credits were also very funny. Great soundtrack and sound effects. Nice teamwork!
PS: the keyboard loses focus when you click outside the game. Maybe this can fix your issues: https://supernapie.com/blog/keyboard-focus-in-an-iframe
The gameplay has a really good rhythm to it. The puzzles with dropping and picking up coins are great and the game explains itself. Keep it up!
Nice! I have upgraded my trading skills! The pixel art of the island was very pretty and it is very clear from the beginning what your goal is :)
I am at level 18 for the moment. Lots of cool ideas in there :)
Very realistic. I think i am doing the right thing, but people think negative things anyway.
Nice cosy graphics, funky tune and good humor :) Can you explain the difference between income and upkeep? That will help me a lot. Also if you have a popup of a building that you don't have the money for, but your balance ticks over, the button doesn't automatically turn orange and you have to close the popup and search the building again. But that's just a small glitch in an otherwise very nice executed game!
@bitron aha makes sense. Thanks :)
@bitron on most gamepads the 'x' is a red button matching the pink twin and the 'b' a blue button matching the blue twin. That's how i always remember.
@le-slo yes the 4th level is not very well balanced
Thanks for playing and commenting.
Thanks @lucien-catonnet! You are correct: I have interpreted the theme in a strange way.
@justcamh Very valid points! I will jot them down in my notebook. There are definitely more possibilities like elevators, assembly lines, portals, ... but in such a short time i had to cut them.
@dflinders hang on! there are only 4 levels. (should have indicated that in the game, i know)
@palsina @kukareru-sekai @cem-adiloglu
Thanks for playing and commenting. About the theme: my brain sometimes makes very strange connections
Thanks, @invader
@retti01, @webow, @zoneoutapps, @kilian-baptendier, @rosypenguin,@saering, @fazz thanks for playing and commenting.
Also sorry for taking the theme a little lighter than most of you.
@jjjjason thanks for playing and commenting! The post jam version will have a less slippery blue twin. I have given him more drag...
@pl4typus thanks for playing. I'll think about the screen shaking, but i am actually a big fan of camera shakes...
I like the atmosphere and the mood. The controls are a bit messed up on mac, because when you press control and an arrow key you switch desktops. Otherwise very well done!
The art was very beautiful and refreshing after playing a lot of pixelated games. The music and sound was also nice and original. There are a lot of funny animations to keep the player interested. I would add some more in-game instructions to tell the player how to control certain things and add mouse-over states to the buttons in the ui and design them more as buttons and not just plain call-to-action text.
Nice stealth game! Liked the choice of music too...
I liked that you tried to put in something personal. Sometimes it was hard to understand who was talking, but i understand because you have very limited space. The mood and the dreamlike setting were very compelling.
Sometimes it is hard to predict wether jumping off a cliff will kill you or not. So it is not a good idea to punish the player for exploring the level. I liked the 2.5D style and having the ability to choose wether you walked past a staircase or jumped on it was really nice. Making the npc's follow the player is something very hard to do and in this game it feels very solid.
The color palette and graphics were really great and matched the spooky mood. You created a nice atmosphere. The physics felt a little glitchy and i think maybe you don't need the platforming at all.
Fun and cute game!
Top down games always hit a soft spot for me and this one played really well. So cool you also recorded your own voice(s). But what i like the most is that the game captures the idea that you have to choose which soldier you will save, just like i imagine will happen in a real combat situation. Well done!
Fun puzzle game! The difficulty ramped a little fast from level 4 to level 5. But i pushed through and finished all nine levels. I like how there are these little invisible logic things you must figure out while playing, like how they are always moving clockwise. I feel the input should be mouse or touch instead of keyboard, but on the other hand it was an extra fun puzzle to figure out the controls. Must check out that Raccoon fantasy console sometime. Keep it up!
Super fun! I liked the color scheme and the graphics.
Superfun! So cool you used the key symbol in a new way, that isn't just opening doors.
I think the physics of the ball where really well done. It was so much fun to play around with. The e key to walk through the door wasn't needed. Just hit test the player with the door when it is open. That's the only remark i got :) Well done!
@briibot, thanks :)
thanks @jonah seems like i mad it a little too easy then :slight_smile:
@lucien-catonnet About the pick up notes: usually i use 8 variations of the same sound for sounds that are used a lot throughout the game, but instead of playing a random one, this time i play them from low to high, so they emphasise something positive...
You did a really good job to stay focused on a small scope and make it a whole and complete thing. The graphics are brilliant and the animation of the little dude is really good. Two minor complaints are: sometimes i couldn't see where i needed to jump, because a cog was in the way and the character felt a little slippery as in it took too long to make him go from running to stopping.
Hi there, i tried your game, but i think there is a bug with pressing space as it doesn't advance the dialog in the bottom left corner of the screen. WASD only gives some weird bass sounds, but i could swing my sword though. Also i don't know which game engine you guys are using, but Java is very uncommon for desktops these days. Maybe look into Gamemaker, Godot or Unity.
But i did like the story in the game so far ;) hope there is an update soon...
Also don't worry about the pressures of school... math for instance is very important for game developers (i miss math class :')
I liked the intro animation. The game reminds me of Crashlands. In the beginning i had no idea what i needed to do, because i didn't see that i needed to press escape to view the recipes menu.
Really cool graphics! And music too! The vehicle was kinda hard to steer, but overall a very fun game!
I really liked the humor in the intro of this game. The typing system worked super smooth. Nice game!
As a fan of cooking and slasher games: I really like the idea of slashing together a recipe. The graphics are delicious ;)
The minimalistic graphics are actually very cool. The hit area of the cameras were a little off balance, so i couldn't make it till the end. I also wouldn't place the text 'main menu' in the middle of the screen. Maybe you need to trigger the menu when the player presses the 'esc' key. The story was very funny and the game was very fun.
I really like that there are just 3 keys that you have to press. Minimalistic controls FTW!
Graphics remind me of Ren and Stimpy. Good times...
Also +1 for using netlify as hosting ;)
I like games with fog. Also cool idea to show the radar from to opposing team.
Nice graphics! I like the fact that the plants also have an energy meter.
Super fun combinations of game mechanics!
Cool game! I had a very similar concept for this jam: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/soccer-slasher
I really like the hand drawn graphics. The game was a little laggy, but that could be me. I had to play it in virtual box on my mac.
My game also needs more ratings. So if you like to check it out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/soccer-slasher
@davidsheadgames,
Thanks for the feedback.
The background noise just had a good mood. Where i came from we don't have a lot baseball stadiums, so i had no idea ;)
After the jam voting i will add more balls, because that's not a bug, but more content.
@Hisfantor
I let the player go outside of the field (actually he wraps to the other side), because the ball can go outside of the field. The ball goes outside of the field, because otherwise the ball will simply get stuck in a corner. By the way if the enemies are really close and you go outside of the field they will still follow you.
@Crimson
Glad you like the camera shakes. I use them in almost every game.
@Cerden good idea. Maybe i can add more enemies or different ones at different stages. Left a comment on your game too.
@riordan I will note 'kicking the ball' on my wanted features list. I actually wanted to implement it during the jam, but i had to cut corners.
@mic_matrix91 You are right about the map. Multiplayer will also go on the features list.
@Lucas Hoffmann you're the man. Thanks!
@ursagames I can really recommend Phaser 3. The framework has a supportive community.
@PonchoGuy Thanks for the idea with the shift key ;)
Cool abstract art and nice energising music!
