These graphics are really nice !!! The game gets difficult and you run out of space really fast, Cool.

neipo13 2018-08-13 14:48

I thought this was pretty clever and fun!

Had 2 main issues: * it was at a super high res and was hard to fit on my monitor (in a browser window) * I had a game breaking bug where an enemy was just camped over my base and just kept smashing my guys as they spawned

t8kk 2018-08-14 11:15

Thanks Tomek! @neipo13 Oh damn you're right, I should have maybe gone with smaller resolution. Ah yes, sadly that happens occasionally, I should have made the enemy flee from your nest if they're in trigger zone would have been nice hmm. Thanks for the feedback!

nattress 2018-08-14 12:36

Graphics are really nice, and concept is fantastic but I too got stuck in a spawn bug. If you continue development it could be a really nice mobile game :)

2games2easy 2018-08-14 12:54

You are a Winrar... Took me a while to understand that this level is not going anywhere. Instead its a win screen... tho I managed to beat everyone in there finally. Fun game. Would love to see more levels. Rats with weapons. I wonder how long till they evolve into Biker mice from Mars.

phlip45 2018-08-15 01:44

As others have said, great graphics! Music was short, but some music > no music and sound effects were good. The game portion didn't really feel like I was running out of space, so much as it felt like I was penalized for not amassing a big enough army to attack. I'm not a very patient person so that probably doesn't help =P. Overall I had fun, but felt the fighting mechanic could be improved a bit.

t8kk 2018-08-15 05:54

@nattress Thanks! Oh yeah that can be quite annoying ugh. Yeah could work especially on mobile you just tap the screen, nice idea. :o @2games2easy Ah damn, my attempt to be funny crashed miserably then damn :E Oh yeah different kinds of rats with various abilities would be awesome! Hmm maybe you're right I could have allocated more time making more levels would have been great. @phlip45 Yeah sadly I feel the same way about the music now, I just felt maybe better to have at least something rather than nothing but actually if the song is as bad as my skills reach now maybe not include any at all hahahah! You have a point, I think i should have pumped out more units in time since the space didn't run out fast enough which would have forced you to move but now it's sometimes just waiting on units to spawn, valid point. Thanks for the feedback!

2games2easy 2018-08-15 09:39

@T8kk another note for you. When you wait for too long the game start to lag because of too many rats on screen. So I´d recommend having some kind of limit to prevent this.

bismark 2018-08-15 13:13

Great games !

But where can i download free maps or purchase some DLCs ?

ossi 2018-08-15 19:03

Very nice visuals! I was reminded a lot of Lemmings when playing this, leading my army to their victory/doom. Maybe I'm misunderstanding but I'm not sure where the theme fits into this. Is it just that the sheer amount of enemies spawning makes it hard to progress? Other than that it was pretty nice to play through, good job!

t8kk 2018-08-16 05:25

@2games2easy Yes unfortunately this happens, sadly the unoptimized logic is not suitable for vast amounts of characters which is the essence of the entire game hehe. There are tricks to greatly improve performance with a great sums of characters on the screen at once, should definitely include if the game will be developed further. Valid points!

@bismark Hey man I'm glad you liked it! Oh more maps and DLC maybe I need to make a kickstarter for that haha ;D

@Ossi Thanks! Oh yeah i should have had made more characters spawn in time to making you have to move more aggressively since the space was running out. It didn't quite convey on the current setup ugh. :P

captaindreamcast 2018-08-16 12:27

I did it, I became a Winrar as well!

One thing I'd note is that a reset button would have been handy. In the level with the spinning death trap in the middle and the six holes placed around it, I managed to softlock myself multiple times by making poor decisions and had to restart the game. That aside, this is an incredibly well-polished game, I'm absolutely amazed. Great job on that.

t8kk 2018-08-17 10:53

Oh damn, hmm yeah I think in scenarios like that reset button would actually be just simplest approach. Thanks dude!

randomphantom 2018-08-17 12:27

Amazing graphics for compo, gameplay was a little odd though as I couldn't really understand it and got stuck with an enemy spawning on top of my spawn point. Kind of hard to differentiate the enemy and your own armies. Didn't feel the theme coming through strongly as well.

speedysloth99 2018-08-17 12:39

Awesome game! The game's resolution was a bit high, but in game looked incredible, and played incredibly well as well!

mao 2018-08-20 23:19

Neat game! The graphics are pretty good, but I think the controls should be improved. The ability to select groups of troops and give them separate instructions, in particular, would be very useful.

t8kk 2018-08-21 05:47

@randomphantom Ah valid point, I should have given more radical color differnece to show immediately which side the rat is alligned to. Hmm yeah the theme fell short from my original vision already compared to the final form of the game. Thanks for the feedbak!

@speedysloth99 Thanks!

@mao Oh the controls maybe the rats don't move as well as they could, oh yeah that would be convenient, like traditional strategy game. Hmm. Thanks for the feedback!

stefan-jovanovic 2018-08-21 16:10

Clever idea with great execution! I really enjoyed the graphics as well as the audio! Keep up the good work!

mowztouch 2018-08-22 20:10

You've got amazing graphics here! Really nice entry. Gameplay is really interesting. With a few more AI from the enemies, and may be some more mechanics, this could become real commercial game. Very well done!

t8kk 2018-08-23 05:02

@stefan-jovanovic Thanks! @mowztouch Thanks, sure why not hehe.

t8kk 2018-08-23 05:02

- double post

wrenpirate 2018-08-23 06:34

I also couldn't figure out how to win the YOU ARE A WINRAR level. It was morbidly fun to watch limbs go flying in a big slaughter. I didn't realize that taking over a nest would make it spawn my guys. I'd like more differentiation between the grey bandana ratpeople and the blue bandanas. Usually, repetitive music doesn't bother me, but this time it left me wanting something else. Of course, I agree with all the people who already said that the character design and animation are terrific.

t8kk 2018-08-23 10:55

Thanks for the feedback @wrenpirate, oh yeah I hid the goal from the final level for you to mess around in heh. Yeah stronger color or other visual variant would have been a great improvement I noticed it's a reoccuring theme, a valid point. Thanks for the feedback!

supernapie 2018-08-23 20:08

My screen was a little bit to small to frame the game in. Maybe you could add the itch.io fullscreen button. Apart from that i really liked the graphics, the 3d modelling and shading. The atmosphere was really convincing. Good job!

madbeagle 2018-08-23 20:23

Seemed like an insane amount of work in two days, but I see you used Playmaker which would leave a lot more time for the great graphics and level design.

By the way, you included Playmaker (a paid library) in your source code download, I'm not sure they'll be happy about that...

t8kk 2018-08-24 05:23

@supernapie Oh yeah I think it would have been ideal to provide resolution options, oh they have a native support for something like that on their site? Let me check out. Thanks!

@madbeagle Ah no 3d artwork for games is my daily endeavour it's not that much of a burden haha. Definitely Playmaker gave me a bunch of time to focus on the other aspect, simply connecting nodes with the tool is very efficient for rapid prototyping! You're right, I've been a little conflicted if I should be including entire project files but I felt is a part of Ludumdare rules to share what I've done and and I'm not even sure if you can extract the tool out from a project as it is and using outdated tool you cannot update seems counter intuitive. Valid points MadBeagle, thanks for the feedback!

zirrrus 2018-08-25 08:27

Wow, doing all this modelling, texturing, rigging and all in such a short time is really impressive! Well done!

hilvon 2018-08-25 09:10

Well... Enemy AI seems to be a bit... passive. They don't really try to recapture nests... ever.

Also the resolution... didn't fit into my screen. Not by much so I still could see all the necessary stuff and win the game

The models, and textures are impressive. Animations are... fitting for what can be done in Compo timeframe. I know I tried.

djeycreations 2018-08-25 10:27

Nice graphics. I good idea. A little bit more polishing and tweaking could make it a funny little game!

t8kk 2018-08-27 11:12

@zirrrus Thanks! @hilvon Yeah the enemies are simply there for your nuisance haha, Ah damn sorry to hear about the resolution. I'll make sure next game will be smaller. Thanks! @djeycreations Thanks!

vivoubos 2018-08-27 12:52

Nice game, music a bit repetitive (I know Bosca Seol, and I know it's isn't easy ^^) Great job!

rjhelms 2018-08-28 03:09

This is really well polished for a compo game! The fact that all your dudes went to the same point, regardless of where the spawned, added a lot more complexity & interest than I was expecting in the first place.

A propos including paid (or otherwise non-freely-distributable) assets in your source, in the past I've just made a copy of the project with those items totally pulled out (ie the PlayMaker folders in your build) with a README explaining what's needed and where they need to go. It's probably small potatoes for Ludum Dare, but better safe than sorry.

derek-volker 2018-08-31 14:46

The game has an interesting mechanic, with an easy to understand concept and functional gameplay. I played it without reading any insctrutions and the objectives and way to play became clear right in the first scenario. The graphics are a show apart, with very well done models making a beautiful scenario. The sound is effective, but the music while nice, its too short. The repeatition of it made it a little boring over time. Overall, its a a fun and well done entry. Excellent job!

andrei9 2018-09-03 16:43

Nice game! interesting graphics
