LD44 — Your life is currency

A Burning Rabbit Experiment by Jani Nykanen 2019-05-02T20:13:35Z

it took a while for me to get used to the controls and movement game mechanic, but once I did I found it highly rewarding and the right level of challenge. The artwork is neat and consistent, fits with the mood of the game. I would have perhaps made the background less darker and desaturated, maybe just to help with focussing on the main event?

BOB by Phyro 2019-05-02T20:06:06Z

Hello, well done on this game! It is thoroughly enjoyable. I love the pixel art, really nice consistent style. The alternative endings are great. It would be nice to have more options that result in an increase in energy, but maybe I just didn't get lucky enough, it only happened once with the star energy option. Obviously a post-jam version could definitely be enriched with even more events and characters, so great opportunity to develop this game. Once again, well done. I look forward to playing again soon!

Field Rations by Spennerino 2019-05-02T20:44:13Z

I liked the graphics, reminded me of old school strategy games. The transmission panel as well is a great change of pace and fits the retro mood of the game. It was difficult to keep my tank moving without it doing a 360 everytime which slowed down my experience of other parts of the game. I like the shop element of the game as it gives the game a larger scope and progression experience. Thanks for this!

Geopolitics by Alex Lutay 2019-05-02T20:58:28Z

I like the risk-esque-ness to this game. The art and HUD is consistent in style and mood of the game. More direction/tutorial either in-game or written elsewhere would have helped engagement. Thanks for this entry,

This is your life now by reuno 2019-05-04T08:29:25Z

Enjoyed this. A game about life choices is great, and well-implemented with nice graphics. I love the old age character an animation. At the end I had travel memories, an expensive car, freedom and inner peace. I don't think that was too bad at all!

A Moment To Reflect by aeveis 2019-05-02T20:38:14Z

I like the sprites very much and though short, what is here is a nice start to a nice little story-based game.

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-04-29T22:45:31Z

And 10000s of clicks later... very addictive game, lovely mechanic that works well.

Space Gunner by GerardB 2019-05-03T19:53:32Z

Nice entry. Satisfying shooting action and movement feels good. Personally, I found the R to reload a bit fiddly and would have preferred being able to at least change it to my mouse right click or something. But that's just me and my skillz haha nice game overall.

LifeCoin Race by Loganou974 2019-04-30T20:37:31Z

I liked this game quite a lot. Simple but effective and fun with nice sound effects. Possibly too easy against the AI but a nice game to little arcade game to play with friends and fits the theme lovely in my opinion. congrats.

Ollo's Life by Memel06 2019-05-02T20:53:25Z

That boy though! What a pain! haha thoroughly enjoyed being the life giving Ollo! A nice little GB game, thanks for entering,

Pucamuc by Mors 2019-05-02T21:16:01Z

Ok, this game is terrifying! hahaah and thoroughly enjoyable. What looks initially like a cute lil candy-art platformer turns out to be a gory game haha. I enjoyed the mechanic and found it the right kind of challenge. Really nice entry, plenty to keep me coming back to play more.

Vital Investments by dalton5000 2019-05-02T21:23:06Z

I nice take on the theme, with stylized graphics/art that is consistent and adds to mood of the game. Nice and intuitive controls/buttons/gameplay. And has replayability factor and could potentially be expanded post-jam? Excellent entry.

LastSwap by EdevJogos 2019-04-30T20:12:20Z

love the art, and icons. learning curve makes it frustrating initially and could have done with being slightly more intuitive but very enjoyable once I got the hang of it. really quite impressive, well done!

check out my lil game if you can.

FEED ME ESSENCE by dinosire 2019-04-30T20:51:35Z

I liked the concept very much, and it's not easy by any means. It would have been nice to have the player animated for direction.

Nutty Twins by Supernapie 2019-05-02T20:31:33Z

This is a lovely game! The mechanic is fantastic and the puzzles are challenging but rewarding. I like the consistent art style.

Billy The Man by Dani Desa 2019-04-30T21:14:00Z

TITLE SCREEN: love the art, and the menu detailing controls is helpful. MUSIC: not sure it fits the environment? SOUND EFFECTS: spot on, the right volume and timings, and not too much overload. ART: nice character voxel art that creates the tone. environment art was nice too, not too complicated that made it distracting. MOVEMENT: controls and movement was nice and smooth, speed felt good. It would have been nice to jump? As in jump onto some of the little mounds? MECHANIC: general mechanic was nice, easy to grasp and fun to play. maybe a "hide" option would have been good? so maybe there are little crevices or dark areas that you can go to and hide (maybe a timer ticks down?) just to give you a breather and add an extra option for the player sometimes? this along with upgrades etc. for progression would be good but obviously would have taken more time so completely understand their absence. HUD: nice and simple, art matched the style. would have been nice if it were larger, not by much, I just feel it would have helped keep an eye on health. also, when health is low maybe player character flash to easily let player know?

Well done, I enjoyed this game and it's impressive what you have achieved here.

Oh my blood! by hechi 2019-05-04T08:51:32Z

I enjoyed this entry. Nice consistent pixel art style, nice mechanic with the vampire and engaging dialogue. movement felt right and ambiance matched the mood the game. I used the left click mouse to cast spell and this worked nicely for me.

Money is life by Nova31 2019-04-30T21:30:43Z

I like the mood of the game and the interactions are nice. I do feel there needed to be a little more direction to prompt the player into direction and a "job" to do straight away to get stuck in?

Plunderlings by DerMario12 2019-05-04T08:43:28Z

Nice game and an innovative approach to gameplay.

D.R.I.E.D. by JasonD 2019-04-30T21:54:42Z

really nice artwork, and sounds. a nice premise with an ambiance to match and set the right mood. Would obviously be nice to have to progression, but that's only because I wanted to play "on". I did manage to complete the level by just trundling on on any event which seems like it "shouldn't" be able to happen? nice little game that I could play more of with more unlockables/upgrades/levels and story.

My first ever ludum dare!

Soul Searching by Webow 2019-04-29T21:46:09Z

@bluwind360 thanks for the bug alert in good time it is much appreciated. HAHA oh no! did you notice if you're quick you can talk to the villagers as they die?

Soul Searching by Webow 2019-04-29T21:46:17Z

@danielk thank you, much appreciated. I suppose the movement was a design thing, it didn't feel right to have the lil grim reaper running about the place. You can use the scythe to reach higher platforms. But yeah, "level/platform" design did not have as much time devoted to it as I would have liked, it being my first platformer. Thanks again for your feedback.

Soul Searching by Webow 2019-04-29T21:47:17Z

UPDATE: Scythe use bug fixed.

Thanks again @danielk @bluwind360 for letting me know.

Soul Searching by Webow 2019-04-30T20:54:04Z

@edevjogos thank you for the feedback. it was my first attempt at a platform-based game so admittedly I do need to hone in on my platformer placement/movement balance. It was difficult since I didn't want the reaper to run around and wanted the "feel" to be mellow. thanks again!

Soul Searching by Webow 2019-05-02T21:09:36Z

@sylvie thank you for your feedback; it's a reflective game on the human condition, where you decide who is ready/deserves to die and who deserves to stay alive. The speed of movement is slower to fit with the sombre mood of the game. Thank you again for engaging with the game and giving feedback.

Soul Searching by Webow 2019-05-04T14:17:34Z

@supernapie thanks for the feedback, indeed the physics were a bit glitchy, it was my first time making a platformer, and I really wanted to practice it so that’s mostly why the town is on platforms. Thanks again

Nice idea, I liked slice mechanic. It was really frustrating to get the apples at times though, maybe intentional?
