I think your itch.io page hasn't been set to publish yet. I can't see it

marcus-dubreuil 2019-04-30 02:35

Looks like the itch.io page is giving me a 404

rodnasca 2019-04-30 02:37

Thank you for the warning, it's working now. :)

phyro 2019-04-30 02:37

So sorry @logicon211 and @marcus-dubreuil , didn't know itch.io pages are created in draft mode. There you go now ;)

ejmejm 2019-04-30 02:44

The opening song is absolutely bomb

entirelybees 2019-04-30 02:55

This was really interesting, I love all the different characters and little animations. I wish there was some kind of visible way to tell how unhappy your people are, how many defenses you have, etc. because it took me a few playthroughs to figure out how it worked.

elmos-minion 2019-04-30 02:56

This game is great! It is a bit short though, and I got the supposed best ending first try.

fixedgerald 2019-04-30 03:01

Amazing graphics and a fun concept!

jedineeson 2019-04-30 05:14

Very good moment playin this, graphics are pretty and story telling is great ! GG !!!

synedraacus 2019-04-30 05:35

I liked the Reigns-style sequence of decisions, but it is pretty difficult to balance the variables you don't see, as @entirelybees mentioned above. Art and animation are great, though, and it's nice that you've made an Android build.

shunaky 2019-04-30 05:35

The sounds are great, but a bit too loud (the volume spike is too high) I loved the art of the game, very unique!

phyro 2019-04-30 05:56

@shunaky It's indeed something weird, because we tested the game soundin the 3 available platforms and the speech sound is different in each and everyone of them, lol. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated.

adam-elaoud 2019-04-30 05:56

Absolutely incredible, outstanding, marvelous creation. I'm so impressed with the level of polish on this game. I played it not once, not twice, not thrice, but eight times. Every time was different and surprising and fun. I loved every second of it. Words cannot express how impressed I am, insanely well done!

boris 2019-04-30 06:09

Really nice

mrpiedpiper 2019-04-30 06:15

This was really good! Played through a few times, and loved the different animations, art, sound, ending, ect. Amazing job on this one!

phyro 2019-04-30 06:34

@adam-elaoud We are so happy that our game has accomplished this replay value to you and more people, that was our goal since the start. Glad to know that @mrpiedpiper also has enjoyed playing a few more times as well :) @synedraacus , Reigns was definetly a inspiration and a name brought up during the planning many times, maybe too much (?) lol

We've discussed mid-production about expose the other decision values to the player, but since the game wasn't planned for it since start we were out of time to do it. The game was designed to work just with the energy bar as a win-lose indicator, but we've found it more fun with the other values endings. We want so much to add more things, like achievements screen to track seen characters and endings, and the other values meters on screen, but it may be after the LD time, of course.

kukareru-sekai 2019-04-30 10:41

This one is pretty fun. I just dived in for the first game and was able to get everybody to the new planet safely and then I did another playthrough and had parties. It's nice to see how your answers changes things.

andidebob 2019-04-30 11:48

Getting string "Sort the Court"-Vibes from this. Which is a good thing, since that game actually came out of another Ludum-Dare.

Anyways I really like the sci-fi take and your graphics are truly stellar. I can't wait to see what else you do with this. A really good entry!

vladirien 2019-04-30 12:20

Wow I'm impressed with the quality of the game, congrats for the art style! The fact you were able to do multiple endings is impressive as well

3mpty 2019-04-30 12:22

Loved the aesthetic and the sounds. Wonderful punchy animations and a great UI. Everything looked outstanding

rodnasca 2019-04-30 13:07

Thanks for the feedback @kukareru-sekai, I'm really happy that so many people are having fun with the game. And congratulations on winning the first time you played, I usually blow up the ship when I play XD. I did not know Sort the Court, but I'm sure I'll play now, thank you @andidebob.

Thanks to everyone who is commenting on the art, I really loved creating each of the characters and developing the style of the game with the @phyro, knowing that art is making a difference makes me really excited to create more games.

vinay-rao 2019-04-30 14:49

I'm a sucker for "what would you do" style games. This one has some impressive visuals. Good job on that Rodrigo!

I did 3 rounds of it. On the third I came to notice that it seemed like the events that I was encountering weren't built off of previous events. Choosing not to turn on the contact radio or explore the planet still resulted in a refugee alien event, which seemed a bit odd. Seeing some player agency to influence subsequent events helps sell the narrative experience. That said, the ending screen payoffs were pretty awesome! I got the planet BoB ending, the stranded in space ending, and the riot ending. That you managed to get 10 different endings in the game is impressive, especially if they're all drawn and written as well as the ones I've seen.

Good stuff! I've only run into one other game in this genre in LD44, and I wish there were more of them!

dina 2019-04-30 14:58

Nice sound and intrsting idea. Like it!

inkyglow 2019-04-30 20:32

I love this, and it's really well done! I really like the details you added with the art, like the animated game logo. It looks really clean and tidy and the gameplay is fun and innovative. Maybe the colour palette could've been a little simpler to give it a different mood, but it totally depends on what you were aiming for. Great work overall!

rodnasca 2019-04-30 20:41

@inkyglow I knew someone was going to notice the color palette, I started doing it in the rush and I ended up not defining a palette. I just realized it in the middle of the project and tried to save in the characters, but yes, I could have worked better the art direction XD

team-on 2019-04-30 23:57

As for me color palette doesnt metter. It still looks good, at least for me as programmer. Overall game looks polished and its fully playable

nayaki-anandan 2019-05-01 19:19

I really enjoyed this and think that it's a unique concept that deserves attention! I love the graphic style. I kept screwing up though.

hadik 2019-05-01 20:15

There are many pixel art games, only few of them looks very good as yours. I dont know how, but with that small resolution you still create such great characters (to artist).

Its short, but also fun to play, I tried few times and safely colonize new planet.

Some jokes are very great, and similartis in characters is also funny :) (StarWars commander ?, WALLI residents of the space station etc) :)

Great entry :)

phyro 2019-05-02 06:23

I think the genre deserves more attention as well, @nayaki-anandan, it's totally overlooked!

kaisean-games 2019-05-02 07:50

One of the best Jam games I've played so far. Very well done. I haven't reached all the endings and it would be great if there was a chart to explore all of them :) You know somewhere on deep web, made by loyal Bob fans.

Keep up the good work.

ninjacatz 2019-05-02 08:48

Fortunately, my bob was able to save a human colony)) I really liked the music and animation in the game!

edshotmachine 2019-05-02 09:44

The aesthetics play into the atmosphere amazingly. So far the best looking game I've played so far. That main menu theme really got me hyped, and the events, while there weren't a plethora of them, were fairly interesting.

marsheleene 2019-05-02 09:45

Very nice looking game, great audio, great polish. I didn't have the time to explore all the endings (4/10), the replayability is impressive!

sillyman987 2019-05-02 10:06

I won, but it got really tense at some points, and then suddenly I would save myself!

phyro 2019-05-02 12:11

Thanks for the feedback you all! It's great to know the differences between every playthrough and how many tried it took to everyone to get to planet Bob's ending :P It helps to know if the balancing is on point! @kaisean-games that's a great idea and I should do a chart on this very page here, as there wasn't enough time to do the achievement screen in-game

webow 2019-05-02 20:06

Hello, well done on this game! It is thoroughly enjoyable. I love the pixel art, really nice consistent style. The alternative endings are great. It would be nice to have more options that result in an increase in energy, but maybe I just didn't get lucky enough, it only happened once with the star energy option. Obviously a post-jam version could definitely be enriched with even more events and characters, so great opportunity to develop this game. Once again, well done. I look forward to playing again soon!

wojciech 2019-05-02 21:03

Visually and storywise complete game. Enjoyable to play and pleasant to look at. The dialog is nice and witty. The only thing missing is a progress bar towards the other planet. Gameplay wise it's somewhat like reigns but in a cool space setting. Impressive amount of work done for two people. Good job guys!

phyro 2019-05-03 01:14

@webow Thanks for the comment and yes, we definetly hope we can give this game the attention it deserves after the jam, we're very excited this time. If you'd like to replay, we've posted "how" to get the 10 achievements, without much spoiler, maybe you can give it a try ;) @wojciech me and @rodnasca are very passionate about the space setting, so much that our other ideas were nearly all of them in this setting, more or less, lol. Thanks for the dialog mention, I've invested several hours in it, but I really think that it was just because I'm not very used to write narratives :v I believe @kaisean-games was looking for the endings as well, as he commented well above.

ianlux 2019-05-03 01:53

Great pixelated experience, gorgeous pixel-art! Loved the humor and mood on this one, I'm hyped to see more updates and expansions on this project!

michaelaranda 2019-05-03 04:15

Great execution of a simple concept! I had a good time! Thanks for making this!

f1krazy 2019-05-03 12:17

This is really good! It's unusual to see branching narratives in a Ludum Dare game. I like how there are different decisions to make every time, too, which gives it good replay value. I tried three times to get a good ending and failed all three times >.< Maybe I'll have to check out that guide.

My main complaint with this game is the spelling and grammar. I counted maybe five mistakes in the intro text alone. In a mostly text-based game, that's a big problem. Are you non-native English speakers? It might be worth running the dialogue through a spell-checking program in future. It would also be nice if you had some way of knowing how close you were to your destination, so you could weigh it against how much energy you currently have. (No need to see the other variables, as I think that might make the game *too* easy.)

Solid effort, well done!

phyro 2019-05-03 13:22

@f1krazy Yes, we're from Brazil, actually, so the grammar and spelling should be more polished, indeed. Maybe, since it's just a quick fiz that does not move mechanics at all and stuff, we update it by this weekend, since other people mentioned it as well. The energy idea is pretty good and about other visible variables we agree with you and think that it would go against the game's premise that is leave the decisions to the player and do not "guide" him to a "right" direction. It's about the journey, anyway :)

afroant 2019-05-03 13:51

Absolutely adored the graphics/animations. Props to you for including so many alternate endings! I think my favorite parts were getting to see the cinematics at the end, in anticipation of how I did in game but also to see more of that amazing art.

Like I mentioned on stream, just giving the requestees hints at what's going on (morale, chaos) through visual cues and in text would be enough to clue in the player. I'd also like to see a way to replay unlocked endings.

Great job!

rodnasca 2019-05-03 14:04

Thanks for the feedback @afroant we are really feeling very flattered by the compliments that the game is receiving, and we're already discussing improvements to the final version of the game.

One of them is sure to be a visual feedback in the form of facial expressions to give a hint as to how the population of the ship is feeling with the choice you made. We are also thinking of doing a different illustration for the ten endings, or more, which we did not have time to do during Jam.

ursagames 2019-05-04 05:57

Thank you for submitting your game to be played on my stream!

Once the stream is finished you can find the video here: https://www.twitch.tv/ursagames/videos If you want to know when it was played you can find your game in the queue here: https://tinyurl.com/y5rdokvp

drauthius 2019-05-04 11:45

Pretty great enrty. It went by fast and let me experiment a whole lot to reach different endings. I really liked the graphics.

arron-fowler 2019-05-04 20:51

Loved it. Kept me playing until completion. Great on my phone. Good work

caveman54 2019-05-06 01:07

Wow! Absolutely stunning! Super useful that it had a android build. Probably my favorite so far. Great job guys!

avsc 2019-05-06 02:51

Very complete and polished, and this is your first LD. Great job.

And about the questions involving weapons, were you planning on having alien attacks or something like it at some point? It seems unrelated to the possible endings you put here.

webox 2019-05-06 03:44

Bob's a super funny game! you make choices to get to destiny.. I made it till the end at the cost of child labor.. The game is visually stunning and well writen. Each member of your crew has a personality, they don't ask for random stuff. I had a lot of fun, good work!

phyro 2019-05-06 04:50

@caveman54 @arron-fowler Thanks for the feedback and we're glad that the Android build looks fine for you, guys. We've tried our best to keep it good in desktop and android equally, with large buttons and stuff. @webox thanks for noticing the characters personality, and @avsc yes, we had many intentions over other narratives and stats we've left out of this jam version, but maybe we elaborate more on it in the future. Basically, the there are 2 alien narratives working right now, the refugees and the scientific alien that provides air treatment knowledge, and the unknown planet that once explored you meet an alien proposing to sacrifice people. But there aren't the art to make these differences clear and all, so maybe it feels kinda "random", I guess [?]. But thanks for noticing it!

jin9310 2019-05-06 08:34

Hey! We also have a Bob! :D Truth is, it is very different Bob, but your Bob is really great! It is quite impressive how much you were able to include in your game and to be honest I always wanted to try to play as some evilish (but not necessarily) AI. Really nice experience and I had to experiment with those answers few times and it really got me! Nice job!

phyro 2019-05-06 16:03

@jin9310 I'll check your Bob out and review it too! lol Thanks for the feedback :)

kuro 2019-05-07 07:55

Downloaded android version, played 3 times with different endings (even won once) Nice little toy, not that much fun (may be not my type of game) but I **LOVE** the visual and audio side of things. Absolutely adorable! This would make an awesome mechanic/mission screen/dialogue screen in a more complex gameplay. Well done, for me, one of the best sibmissions in sound, graphics, and mood department.

mika-la-grand 2019-05-10 16:51

On the first try I managed to get the humans to the new planet. I once had the fat guy with the vr ask a question and bob answered with "You need to be with your parents little one", so that's probably a bug. Besides the bug was it a great game, with nice art and music.

phyro 2019-05-10 20:43

Thanks @kuro and @mika-la-grand for the feedback. It's definetly a game genre that's not for everybody and stuff, but your feedback does matter in any way possible :) And about the fat guy, it's indeed a bug and should be the little kid to appear there, lol

ivan-garcia-filho 2019-05-14 12:55

Awesome entry with amazing graphics.

I think that you should inprove the feedback of the user choices, because the only feedback that i had is the energy bar increasing/decreasing, you could sometimes show results of your previous choices and also use the window in the background to show some sort of time passing and space travelled.

tamail 2019-05-14 17:06

This is such a good job, amazing! Really nice story, really nice writing, great idea how to work with the LD theme... I enjoyed the graphics, pixel art, the most, they are so good! Awesome entry, really!
