Wow! Pretty amazing game! I loved the 3D low poly graphics and the atmosphere was well portrayed. Good and consistent game. I would really appreciate it if you also played my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/spirit

rafael-souza 2019-04-29 23:56

@Connell We will! thanks for review!

gabrielgamedev 2019-04-29 23:58

It would be nice to have an executable version available for download. It does not run very well on my browser. When you maximize the game screen, it loses part of the screen.

alec 2019-04-29 23:58

Awesome graphics! It took me a bit to understand the rules, as the instructions font was a little hard for me to read. It got very hard very quick, but I could totally see this more developed with more complex spells and enemies. The controlling 2 characters reminded me of the game "the world ends with you", which is a good thing! Great work

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 00:27

@gabrielgamedev thanks for the feedback, we will fix it soon! =)

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 00:29

@alec Thank you Alac! Yeah, we enjoy alot 2 controls like that too. Thanks for sujestion now the combos (the most important) are in the description!! :)

hybbaron 2019-04-30 00:40

both gaphric and gameplay looks awesome, took a bit to understand the combos

c0d3d 2019-04-30 01:19

It was quite confusing and complex at first but after I got the hang of it I really loved it. The graphics may be the best part along with the voice acting lol. Very cool game!

adrieldf 2019-04-30 01:33

Hey man, really cool game, also great graphics. The combine to summon was a very neat mechanic. And a random question, are you guys from Brazil?

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 01:45

@adrieldf Yes, we are :) Thanks for review.

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 01:46

@c0d3d Thank you for review, Yeah it's a little confusing in the start :)

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 01:46

@Hybbaron thankss for review =)

lot9s 2019-04-30 03:15

This was fun! It took a bit before I could produce combos quickly enough to fight back against the weaves of enemies. My one suggestion would be to adjust the size of the canvas a bit. Perhaps, adjust it dynamically to the screen size? I had to zoom out a bit for the canvas to fit on my screen.

enjoy-the-tale 2019-04-30 03:53

Wow! This is so beautiful! I really got in to the mood.

liauj 2019-04-30 06:34

That horde of enemies really gets out of control fast! Sweet game, really enjoyed the voice acting too!

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 06:51

@lot9s Thanks for the review and your suggestion! =)

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 06:51

@enjoy-the-tale Thank you!!!

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 06:51

@liauj Yeah!! Haha Thank you! =)

ekx 2019-04-30 07:21

Really fun game with nice low poly graphics and UI artwork. Would have really liked to have a list of available crafting and summoning recipes.

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 07:36

@ekx Thank you!! =)

pseudobytes 2019-04-30 09:18

Wow that was pretty awesome! It looks amazing. Really different from all other games. Amazing job!

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 12:22

@pseudobytes Thank you!

fusionnist 2019-04-30 17:47

Pretty nice entry! I wasn't sure about how health worked at first, but quickly figured out how to heal poisoning/raise health. In the end, I was spamming ranged creatures and healing as fast as I could haha. Pretty fun! The graphics are amazing as well, congrats!

perfmouse-studios 2019-04-30 18:36

I really like the art and sounds! But the controls (for me at least) where harder to use because it looks like it's for 2 players... It is a really fun game though! :D

bentekiller 2019-04-30 18:58

Cool game, took some time to get into since I forgot the recipes from the intro paper the first time I played, but after that it got really fun. A good amount of button smashing and then I saw a big boss arriving though while still dealing with the minions I lost to him.

I would make a recommendation because you don't really know how far you come in the game, you could make a simple timer or show what wave or lvl you're at, it would also make the game competitive since then people can tell how far they have come in the comments! Enjoyable game!

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 19:45

@perfmouse-studios Yeah, it's a recommended for 2 players! Thank you!

rafael-souza 2019-04-30 19:48

@bentekiller Thanks for the tip and review, I Agree with you, see your game progress visually is important ;)

webow 2019-04-30 20:12

love the art, and icons. learning curve makes it frustrating initially and could have done with being slightly more intuitive but very enjoyable once I got the hang of it. really quite impressive, well done!

check out my lil game if you can.

cardinal90 2019-05-01 01:36

An enjoyable experience. Well balanced to be hard but not impossible. Keeps you on your toes the whole time, so you have to click fast with both hands. The controls are well done. Could do with more instructions. I understood what two of the potions do after several tries, and those were enough to win. There is one more I think?

wtg 2019-05-01 08:46

Took awhile to learn but once I did I really enjoyed it! I love low poly models mixed with quality art icons - so great work. Thank you :thumbsup:

sangemdoko 2019-05-01 20:06

Awesome game. At first I didn't really understand and I was pressing random keys as fast as possible... did not end well. It was really fun!

pixscope 2019-05-01 20:13

Very good and awesome game ! Nice work !

saucygames 2019-05-01 20:32

Love the artstyle. Got this comic bookish feel to it. plus the lowpoly. game does fully keep you on your toes because I was busy looking at a combo i was making, looked up to a huge wave and went "oh lordie" i died :(

rafael-souza 2019-05-02 15:38

@wtg @sangemdoko @pixscope @saucygames Thanks guys for the review! :)

ianlux 2019-05-02 17:06

Amazing mechanics, very innovative in general. It was confusing for me at first but when I got the grip of it I loved it! It becomes very difficult later on, so I couldn't really beat it xD Great job guys, this could be a full fleshed steam game if you guys keep updating it!

mika-la-grand 2019-05-03 14:52

You customise a creature using a,s,d then you spawn it with w. Then you combine the eye and the green using left and down (up to confirm) to change the healthbar to red. Then you combine green and red using down and right (up to confirm) to refill your bar back to full. Repeat untill you have killed the enemies? This seems very complicated, so maybe I am playing it wrong but this does seem to kind of work. My point is that it is quite complicated and there is no interactive tutorial taking the player through the various steps.

rafael-souza 2019-05-03 16:00

@mika-la-grand yeah, there is just a text tutorial. Would be better if the waves were divided in levels, but we cut-off this resourse to secure time =)

pedro137br 2019-05-03 21:28

Awesome audio, really nice graphics, overhaul a great game, i would love to see it as a finished game

lyrcaxis 2019-05-03 23:51

Nice graphics, this one!

Obviously I skipped the tutorial and was doing stuff randomly at first, but it got easy once I learned how the crafting system works. Only complain is that you have to be so focused with the "crafting" that you'll be missing most of the graphics and fighting. I believe some interaction with the actual fights would add well..

treslapin 2019-05-04 17:43

Very confusing at first, but once you get into it, it's really fun! :smile: I like how the enemies that died are there when you restart. Is there a win condition?

dorkulon 2019-05-04 17:45

Loved it! Really great job! The gameplay was a bit like if Magicka and a clicker had a baby. It feels like there's something there to develop even further. At some point I'm not sure what happened, but I couldn't make anymore potions. Maybe some extra on-screen communication could have helped. Voice over narration is an enormous plus!

zesix 2019-05-04 18:16

Pretty tough learning curve but fun after a few tries. Solid entry.

enovyt 2019-05-04 18:41

Nice game! I really enjoyed the graphics and the environment it created. Like the others I had a hard time getting the combos correct at first but got it after a couple of times. The only problem I had was my eyes were more drawn to the buttons to get the combos then the actual fighting. Good job!

webox 2019-05-04 18:47

AMAZING!!! Super hard haha.. It'll be cool to have a recipes cheatsheet when pausing the game. 5/5 great work guys!

candlesan 2019-05-04 19:26

Cool! Really great execution on the art and sound effects. I wasn't sure if the game was intended more as a single player game controlling both or as a two player game with one person controlling each character but I'm guessing it was intended as the latter. Things some feature requests I"d love to see if you made this into a full game: As you're pressing buttons to put together your spell I'd love a visual "queue" of what you've pressed so far. Or maybe an indicator that floats upwards after something was crafted. I'd also love to see the recipes that were shown to me during the intro screen could be accessed later. Great game! Well done!

flaterectomy 2019-05-05 09:58

I played it once, got very confused and prepared to comment on the learning curve. Then I played it a second time, figured out the mechanics of healing myself and just spamming troops, and got s victory. :smile: This still leaves me conflicted, though. I did not know what kind of units I was making, I was just spamming random combinations of A/S, S/D, and A/D keys. Meanwhile, I did figure how to self heal (down/right) and turn the green bar red so health doesn't drop (left/right). I did not see what the third option did (left/down) so I stopped doing that.

I also noticed I was keeping an eye on the cooldowns and health bar below rather than on the fight on the upper half of the screen. I did notice a boss appear near the end, but my attention was quickly pulled down again when the time came to flood the field with fighters.

The low poly art is pretty cool. Think the color palette got a little muddy here and there, too many saturated color tones blending together. A reduction in colors used overall, as well as some saturation balancing would probably help a lot in that regard.

The voice-over at the start had some very noticeable background noise.

All in all, an excellent entry that I wished I could've seen more of, instead of looking at cooldown times at the bottom of the screen. :wink:

ivan-garcia-filho 2019-05-06 01:13

Since there's no order on the way you press the combinations, it's easy to just "smash" the arrowws and the AWSD in order to almost explode the battlefield's with an infinite army hehe...

Good mechaniics, it's like a crossover betweeen a "generic siege game with a magika", the graphics are aewsome, but i think that you could disappear with the bodies over timee since the batlefield got completely covered by bodies...

rafael-souza 2019-05-06 18:15

@treslapin yes, there is :)

rafael-souza 2019-05-06 18:16

@webox Great idea

rafael-souza 2019-05-06 18:16

@candlesan Thank you!!

rafael-souza 2019-05-06 18:27

@flaterectomy Loved your review, great tips too! Thank you! :)

duke 2019-05-06 19:36

Nice game. I think I got the gist after playing a few rounds, but was still overrun by a horde of enemies and couldn't really do anything about it. The look and feel of the game is great and the soundtrack is also very fitting. Everything around it has a polished feel to it. Only the balancing has some issues I guess. Would be great to have multiple levels to ramp up the difficulty one level at a time to not overwhelm the players in a very short amount of time (that's at least how I felt after playing a few rounds) All in all, awesome entry!

limered 2019-05-06 23:29

end Game Music is very sad. Graphics are very nice and sound design is on point. I too got overrun by enemies without a chance. I just couldn't press the buttons fast enough. Progression could be a little more player friendly, but a very cool entry none the less.

peachtreeoath 2019-05-11 04:56

Very unique game. It's a bit making a dota-invoker based TD but you have to juggle 2 things at once. Like others it took me a little bit to get a strategy down but I eventually figured out quick ways to summon and heal. After summoning and ridding myself of poison, I would bring both hands to the arrow keys so I could hit up, right, down in quick succession and just keep rolling my hands til I was full life. As silly as it sounds, I can't think of one game where I've had to roam my hands around and do combos (except maybe Stepmania lol). Really neat gameplay and I loved seeing you push traditional TD game design to a new front because TDs tend to all play the same.

ps. incredible job at giving out LD reviews!

balance686 2019-05-11 18:15

Nice job on this! I really enjoy the graphics. Great low poly style and the lighting is done well. The music is great (lots of mood on that defeat song) and the game is fun to play. It takes at least a play to figure out the summoning/potion mechanics but I thought they were executed well. I enjoyed the presentation overall and narrating the beginning was a nice touch. Great job!

simanis 2019-05-12 08:52

Visually very polished jam game with an interesting concept. However, it seemed pretty laggy on chrome and the soundeffects could use some improving. Good luck :)

coleslaughter 2019-05-13 05:47

Now this is a very interesting and unique concept. :) It took me a little bit to get a handle on the controls and mechanics of the game (a tutorial would have been very helpful here), but once I did I was able to have quite a bit of fun!

It seems to me like there's a pretty massive balance issue between the number of enemies spawning and the number of minions that I can spawn though. Whenever I would summon a ranged monster or a skeleton, it would die immediately, so I just opted to spam giants over and over until I died. Balance and tuning are REALLY hard to get right in a weekend though, so I don't hold it against you guys at all.

I'm interested to see where you take this in the future (if you plan to at all). Nice job!

peterfonts 2019-05-16 04:37

Great game! The controls and mechanics at the beginning are tricky, but with time I controlled them (maybe is good adding different stages/levels adding step by step every spell or invocation). Difficulty it's exponential, appear hordes in a short time, maybe you'all can reduce a little. Overall it's a fantastic game, the graphics are amazing and the polish (fx, audio, etc.) is good! Congrats! Keep making games!! :fist:

sergi-montaner 2019-05-18 21:24

The game mechanics are very original but I was so focused on doing the summon and potion combos that didn't pay much attention to the fighting. Also, It is difficult to understand which is the strength and weaknesses of all the friend/enemy units. The alchemy part was cristal clear.

2019-10-22 09:09

The mechanics of the game should be logical. Children play such games and compare the plot with the real world. For example, such games do not carry the principles of physics but create the impression of an ideal world. I often read futuristic stories on such resources [spam] but the meaning should be logical. It is difficult to perceive as reality.
