pretty impressive for 3 days work
great game! too bad it got laggy fast. Couldn't complete any quests or discover too many secrets because of that :( But it's an amazing work for 3 days!
10/10 like Skyrim with cages
Interesting concept and nice graphics - I think they really fit the puzzle/strategy genre.
The hitboxes are way off in google chrome for me though, so I couldn't progress too far. Refreshing the page causes music to disappear (sound effects remain).
Nice job. Some nitpicks: - controls - would have preferred some other key instead of "return" to restart. For example "r", because it is closer to wasd and I wouldn't have to move my arm - the game didn't seem to have any sound on firefox
Overall, I would definitely like to play this game if it was polished some more and perhaps option to play against AI was added, because I got no friends to play with.
Nice music and atmosphere. Could't figure out how to fill drinks though, only start fights
Interesting concept. Is it possible to get past the 3d door?
@something-something-games thanks for the feedback dude! Did you manage to beat the game or was it too difficult?
@2games2easy thanks for the suggestions! Yeah, we tried the WebGL build, but it was very slow and didn't work at all on Google Chrome. I will try building some other platforms today.
To be honest, the fireball was made like this, because I'm not too good of a programmer and I had to get it done quickly  Also, there is a bug currently that you keep the effect of your sin points after rebirth (but this is reset when you allocate the according sin point)
@2games2easy nice! I haven't gotten past lv 6 myself I think, because the exp requirements grow too fast
@maxthecat really glad to hear that!
@toskokozlov thanks!
@m-dam Glad you liked it! Yeah, the overall idea came before the jam and we just tried to adapt to the theme
@metalbrasier2x0 awesome, thanks! Yeah, melee could be a bit simpler to use
@siimer the story - HAHAHA good one! Thanks for the feedback once again!
@flaterectomy hey, thanks for the feedback! Personally, I prefer the mouse controls for these kind of games, but I see your point. As others have said, it would probably be better if you could click and hold down to move
@mykola thank you, we poured our heart and soul into the story :) Also, we'll be working on some updates, the first of which is due to arrive within an hour or two
@pixelshorts thanks!
@rainbow-rave thanks for the review! We liked working on this, so you can expect a few updates in the future :)
@team-on thanks a lot!
@cohav0310 thanks, our artists were great! We'll improve melee combat in the next update (hopefully this October)
I had no idea what was going on and I loved it.
Art & music & atmosphere were all great. Would have enjoyed some world-building or narrative to go with it, but it's understandable if there was no time in a gamejam.
Very impressive entry. The art-style and atmosphere remind me of 2000's rpgs. The audio and sfx are great, but as great as it is, the background music can get on your nerves after a while.
Not sure why it was necessary to completely disable backtracking in some segments of the game. After I had reached the first gate and understood that I would not be able to get all the keys in the current area, I had to restart the game to be able to complete the game. It might also be a good idea to mention in the instructions that you need to press spacebar in order to dive.
The only bug-like thing I noticed was that the goat could be glued to the underside of a moving platform.
Carrot trees ftw!
P.S. Sorry if any of my gripes repeat the other comments, didn't check them all out :D
Neat artstyle :) I like the personal touch given by the humor and passenger epitaphs in the credits. The gameplay didn't entice me too much since I'm not into management type of games (or maybe because I'm really bad at them :D)
Saw you on Twitter, finally got around to trying out the game.
What attracted me was the elaborate and detailed artstyle. You don't see that often in gamejams.
Unfortunately, the controls on browser didn't seem to work almost at all (I was playing on Chrome). It's a real shame, because it seems like a LOT of effort went into putting it all together.
The game title is great as well. As I lurked on Twitter during Ludum Dare, I glimpsed a few of your tweets and thought to myself how long are you going to keep thinking about how to call the game :D
Did not expect to like it and yet I did.
Stuff I liked: - sfx - mood - story - mechanics
There were some minor bugs, but nothing gamebreaking. The biggest one was that buttons for restarting the game did not work. I think I completed the game with 20 feathers once, but got the bad ending. Might be tripping though
THIS IS THE PERFECT GAME! IT HAS EVERYTHING YOU COULD EVER WANT! SO GLAD I CLICKED ON THIS, NOW I CAN DIE IN PEACE
Very enjoyable :) Got to the third level.
I like the additional details, such as your bag and UI getting bigger as you get more gold. There's a lot of content for a gamejam game IMO. The mechanics interact in interesting ways, as you can lure enemies on spikes or block them off by raising walls and then killing them while remaining unreachable yourself.
The only bug I noticed was that enemies could manage to pass through walls if you give them enough time. I also never felt the need to use the coin throwing mechanic. Still, one of my favorite games so far.
As others have pointed out, a crosshairs or a mouse cursor would have helped a lot. Definitely needs more work, but it has a solid base. Keep it up 👍
There are many good aspects that probably are listed by others already, but I'll reiterate:
- nice artstyle - good atmosphere (I love games set at night and rain :) ) - a lot of lore (for a gamejam game) - good choice of music - polished feel
Admittedly, The gameplay itself didn't feel particularly exciting.
@discorde thanks a lot! Yeah, I've heard feedback that fireball should go in at least 8 directions and I plan to do that. Just didn't have enough time in this gamejam
@freakoftheyear tenor (2).gif
@skdf F uck yea, thanks! Yeah, I have beaten brutal mode only twice myself. I plan to make some improvements, hopefully even over the next few weeks
@binaryspark Glad to hear that! Gives me inspiration to continue working on this :)
@jonathan-lorenz awesome, thanks!
@linear Thanks a lot for the feedback!
There will definitely be a post-LD version coming up, but it might not yet address the big issues like WASD control scheme and adding a clear distinction between walls and floors.
@kornel-meszaros @hdugmag Thanks a lot! Really glad to hear you liked it
@justcamh I appreciate the detailed feedback! There's a lot of stuff to improve and the sin system isn't really balanced at the moment. I'll do my best to find the time to improve it all
@picapica aw shit, sorry about that - haven't tested it on Linux. I could try adding a build for a different architecture type, perhaps it will work for you. It should be up on itch.io after some 30 mins. Should I ping you when it's done?
@picapica I added a build for x86_64 architecture on itch.io. It should even have a new unique item that can drop in brutal mode :) In the worst case, there's always wine for emulating the windows version.
@picapica That's great to hear! I'll check if I can make the font bigger in some places.
@syrok Thanks a lot! I must admit that I started the game before Ludum Dare 43 - during the jam I added the item system, brutal mode and made some other smaller improvements.
@firesplash-entertainment wow, that's surprising :D Did you manage to beat the brutal mode?
@ratherjolly Huge thanks, I'm really f*cking glad to hear that! I must admit that most of the graphics were done in Ludum Dare 42 though :D This time I added brutal mode, item system, changed the story and made some other improvements.
Sweet and short.
I like the main background music. The death sfx were quite annoying though. It's also possible to go outside the boundaries of the level if you keep going right after picking up the book ;)
Sweet and simple. Wished killing enemies was more personal. A smiley face on cube goes a long way :)
Also, it's an awesome job for a first entry, keep it up!
This submission was recommended to me by a cool person so I decided to try it out. I'm not into puzzle games, but this was quite enjoyable.
It's very polished. The audio is relaxing and the visuals are decent - they do not substantially distract from or add to the experience.
I must admit that I never fully understood the controls, just went with trial and error :D
Nice graphics and enjoyable gameplay. One of the few Ludum Dare 43 games that I completed until the end.
My two gripes are a lack of background music and no warnings before the pitfalls. Had to restart a few times because I didn't notice them or miscalculated how close I can stand.
The reset is very sudden too, perhaps you should leave some message to the player that the game has restarted.
Was generally confused, but I don't usually play bullet-hell or similar games.
Some gripes: - your central turret doesn't shoot where the croshairs is pointing - web version was extremely laggy, had no sfx (tried on Google Chrome), had to download windows version to play - the UI was way too small - (this is subjective) the bullet trails were a bit of an overkill and didn't fit with the overall style. Maybe some particle effects such as semi transparent pixels would do the job better (see example below)
image.gif
Overall, it's a decent submission, especially for a one-man 2-day team. Hope I didn't sound too harsh.
Keep up the good work!
P.S. sorry if the I repeated some of the other comments, didn't check them all out
I loved the audio, voice acting, and the attention to the detail, such as the other units chopping wood or attacking the enemy buildings.
For a gamejam game it would have probably been better to focus on the base mechanics, but I enjoyed it regardless. It would be very interesting to play a game where you can switch different careers beneath the guidance of the player and accomplish various tasks.
As mentioned before, a very ambitious project for a gamejam.
Positives: - art - leaderboards - relaxing atmosphere - custom splash screen 0_0
Negatives: - boat is slow - occasional buggy animations break immersion - difficult to find players, perhaps bots would help - instructions only appear when starting the game
The game has good potential imo
A very interesting concept, did not expect it to be as intriguing as it was. Didn't manage to get the good ending, since I suck at games like this.
I look forward to seeing what you would make once you improve your skills and/or get some teammates.
The art is great, the sound effects are amazing and the writing is splendid.
The font choice might not be the best though. I initially read the first answer as "ripped women", but that just might be a Freudian slip on my part.1275119ca4481fcd319b392f7413d91f.png
Overall, it feels very polished for a LD game.
The art is good, but the controls are a bit clumsy. Perhaps it's due to the fact that it's difficult to tell when the turn is going on and how exactly your abilities work. So if you have some time, I would suggest making some UI improvements that could help with this issue :)
A genuinely enjoyable submission :) Lots of fun features and I didn't notice any substantial bugs other than the web version being very slow.
I liked the fact that you can snipe enemies before they notice you - would be nice to have a sniper rifle as a weapon. A dash mechanic would help a lot as well (ofc, this might out of scope for a LD game :D)
Very impressive for a compo game :) I think the most important improvement that you could make is making the movement and combat feel more smooth. Don't be afraid that the game might become shorter if you make the movement faster.
BTW, if you ever want to jam together, feel free to add me as a friend. I love making action rpg's most of the time & I'm trying to specialize in making pixel art games
One of the best LD games I've ever played and that is taking into consideration the fact that I dislike point & click genre. You obviously know what you're doing, so I won't offer any advice on improving it.
Cheers and good luck
Cool concept :) One of the few gamejam games that I continued to play after dying. I like that it's not too difficult
@tudvari thanks, Todd. It should be easy to fix potion spawning outside of the map :) Don't know if I will be able to overcome my laziness and actually do it
@edevjogos thanks for the feedback. I'm working on an update that should up the difficulty a bit. With any luck, it will be ready this weekend
Thanks a lot, @jam373! This is a fan game, so I took the sound directly from the original. All else was made by me, though :)
@binaryspark I wonder how did you manage to achieve that :D I know it's possible because of how bad I'm at using colliders, but still :D Yes, the music belongs to PoE, so opted out of audio category. Thanks for the feedback!
@xsoodx glad you like it :)
@aurel Thanks a lot for the feedback and helping me get past the 20 ratings threshold! Yeah, I agree that only a half life should be taken no matter how many tiles are destroyed. Unfortunately, I had coded the interaction in a weird way, so it cannot be fixed quickly :D
@bala-shanmugam Really glad you liked it! The music and voice acting were good because they were taken from Path of Exile (poe) :D This was a fangame of PoE. Big thanks for helping me reach the 20 rating threshold!
I love the art and music. But it was actually painful to play because of the decisions you made me take :D
nice and dark little story. Very good job for your first game :)
Nice choice of music :) Keep it up!
Can you upload it on Google Drive or itch.io? It's not allowing me to download from Dropbox, as the zipped file is too large
Very beautiful and atmospheric game. When playing, many of the defeat explanations didn't seem to make logical sense.
My suggestion is to always - and especially with text-heavy games - use spellchecking software.
Very fun and interesting concept! One of the very few LD games that I actually finished. Not sure if adding wheels increases your speed - if not, then it should, because movement felt a little too slow for my taste. Would be nice to have an option to replace/remove/fix existing parts.
it's fun but.. 5399f8caf0a80d8c9eb95c941e10d3eae4f3242712bdbde58d6deac99babe7ec.jpg
Very fun and polished entry! The visual and audio feedback is a great addition that you rarely see in gamejam games. The only weak spot that I can think of is that I didn't find the background music to be particularly enticing.
Really, really, really cool concept! I think the initial difficulty should be tuned down, perhaps by adding a dash mechanic or something.
The idea of equipping your powers is really cool and the choice of music was good. Losing all your progress upon death seems a bit too unforgiving
Great humor and writing  The other aspects of the game could use a lot of work, most notably - the presentation of the rules. It was quite confusing
To be hones, I hate these kind of games, because they make me feel stupid  But the mechanic is unique and the controls are smooth. Just wish I hadn't stuck one minute in
Easily my favorite game in terms of ambiance. Even if it's unfinished, it feels really satisfying and immersive to play - the art, animations and audio are all incredible!
EDIT: sorry for the double comment - I couldn't find a way to delete it
Easily my favorite game in terms of ambiance. Even if it's unfinished, it feels really satisfying and immersive to play - the art, animations and audio are all incredible!
@philomory hey, thanks for the feedback! Yes, the controls are our weakest point. It was initially intended to be a turn-based game, but our programmer run into some issues, so we scurried to get at least some kind of controls ready before the deadline
@don-fouts @mykola thank you guys for the nice feedback
@goldorak ah, sorry about that - we could have done a better job by adding a tutorial or something.
Your goal is to collect three different ship parts to win the game.
Eat mushrooms not to starve to death, but be careful - most mushrooms will decrease your sanity. If you become insane, you'll lose the game. The third way to lose is to run out of time.
UwU thanks! @cyrolis
@mateusboga Thanks! Yup, there are multiple levels. Whenever you reach the end of a road, it brings you to a new one. The levels are randomly generated, but you can complete the game without ever going to a new level
@oakwarrior thanks! Yeah, we initially thought of making it a turn-based game & will probably rework the movement system to match the intial vision.
