Neat idea! It's pretty fun to compete to escape the goo. The main problem is the way the controls/physics work: I got stuck in the central pit several times and had no idea how to get out, which made it frustrating to keep playing.

ezra-lafleur 2018-08-14 21:42

Had a great vibe and it looked *amazing* but it was a little difficult to get too far. Cracked it eventually but it was a little sad when one player got stuck and the other one would keep going. All in all, it was quite nice!!

mykola 2018-08-15 05:49

@sam-estep thanks a lot for your feebdack! The central pit was supposed to be a trap for those who don't want to take roundabout routs but want to get to the other side in just one turn. High risk - high reward thing. But yeah, maybe even then the game could probably be a bit more forgiving.

mykola 2018-08-15 05:54

@ezra-lafleur thank you for playing and sharing your experience!

paulo-augusto 2018-08-15 18:52

nice game man, , i like it, awesome concepta

gurkenlabs 2018-08-15 18:55

Fun concept! Reminded me a bit about worms sudden death at some point :) First I thought it was possible to climb back up the pit because the eye slowly slides down when navigated against a wall. Might be a good idea because losing time by the fall is enough risk in my opinion.

Other than that: great job!

aguahervida 2018-08-15 20:21

The game looks and feels complete, you can win, you can lose, it restarts quickly, and each game session is short so the level of frustration at losing is greatly reduced. In addition to this, it is quite entertaining that it is for two players, playing with someone else always increases the fun. Unfortunately I do not see much that can be said is new in here, Worms is a game with something similar and increases the tension in the same way once a certain number of turns have passed, being said, the level on this game is developed vertically, so it differs in that and the fact that I must move to survive, but I would like to be able to choose weapons, not have to "change" character to use the weapon I want, maybe you could have expanded the idea a little bit more and have guns that shoot things that are left in the space, this way it would be more reduced not just by the acid. The art looks wonderful, but I feel that maybe you could have done more, the music is even better, but I would also have wanted to hear something more. Finally, everything seems to fit within the game (with the exception perhaps of the sprites of the explosions) so it feels pretty good. One last thing, the pit that is in the middle, should do something about it, I fell about 100 times and I got killed each time of them, a random level generator would not go wrong with the game to expand it a bit more in this short amount of time. Great job on finishing the game! not everyone can do that, you guys should feel proud.

@paulo-augusto thanks man!

mykola 2018-08-16 17:16

@gurkenlabs thanks a lot for playing and sharing your thoughts! Yeah, maybe something like a wall-jump would make a good addition to the game. From the feedback so far I can see that we really need to make the central pit trap more forgiving.

mykola 2018-08-16 17:28

@aguahervida thank you so much for the extensive feedback! I'm really glad to hear that the game feels complete, even though there are still tones of improvements to be made. We did have the ideas of picking up and changing weapons and the random map generation but unfortunately didn't manage to get to them within the time limit. Thanks a lot for your kind words and healthy critics!

marko 2018-08-19 11:55

Really liked the art style and animations. Interesting twist on "turn" based worms logic.

Characters felt little bit broken though, one was missing eyeball and another was missing gun graphics?

mykola 2018-08-19 19:37

@marko thanks for the feedback! Since the two eyes had different weapons we had to make them look different. So the one with the canon-like weapon received a gun but lost its pupil, while the one with the laser-like weapon ended up shooting from the pupil but wasn't given a gun. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to add another character / weapon / appearance in time.

cedric-fey 2018-08-20 11:01

I really like the graphics and the idea. The timing is really stressful. Yes the controls are really hard to master. I know it's a jam... so, no time

jern 2018-08-20 11:04

I played this with someone and we tried to wait out the acid on our turns to kill each other. Then, we both died in the center pit like twice on accident. It seems like a wall-jump would have saved us, but we could only stick to the walls and not jump off. Also, it would be entertaining to be able to jump off of the other player's head. I was able to jump on top of the other character but not off of them. I like the turn-based style with the stress of rising acid.

bentekiller 2018-08-20 11:13

Had trouble controlling the character because of jumping and hitting a ceiling and the falling down, and you could get stuck on walls if you kept pressing in the direction of that wall! A cross point would do wonders too, and maybe a slightly weaker jump! The spot in the middle where there was just two walls you could fall into and couldn't get out, so why not just make it a hole? I think I only won once because of me shooting the oponent, and sure the not being able to make jumps or avoid something that would kill you, or dificult maneuver to do is a concept that could also be a great part of this game, but to me, that was the whole game! I do like the idea, and the visuals and graphics are good, but I see potential for more, with some fixes I have mentioned and maybe like upgrades or different weapon pick ups! I forgot to say it feels slow between character swap, and to press return to gain control of the player could in all be thrown away completely in my opinion! Argh, sorry for the big critisism block of text here, I just want to give some food for thoughts!

pnghasemi 2018-08-20 11:16

I didn't really understand how to play! was it a multiplayer game?

mykola 2018-08-21 16:08

@cedric-fey @jern @bentekiller thanks a lot for playing and for your feedback guys! Really appreciate your thoughts and ideas about the game. There is definitely a huge space for improvement, so thanks for pointing out some particular directions for it.

mykola 2018-08-21 16:09

@pnghasemi it was indeed! Just shoot your opponent during your turn and try not to die from acid.

thsnr 2018-08-22 18:42

As already mentioned, the movement could use some polish and getting stuck in the central pit felt bad. +1 for the walljump idea.

I love Worms so I liked this. Although once you hit the other guy your turn runs out, so you do not have much opportunity for running away. Sadly I did not have any friends to test this so I had to play against myself :frowning2: Because of this, all rounds were relatively short and the acid did not play much role. It would have been nice if it would have risen faster, but perhaps you have balanced it for two individual players.

Top points for the music!

mykola 2018-08-23 16:41

@thsnr thanks a lot for your feedback and suggestions! And many thanks for mentioning the music, I did put my soul in it

koala-squad 2018-08-23 21:59

Great job! My first thought when I jumped into the game was "Worms Battlegrounds." It is very much like that game, and that's not really a bad thing, since the game is fun and quite interesting. I do wish you had an AI for single player, because playing against yourself doesn't really work. The audio is impressive though, and combined with the graphics really sets the mood (although the SFX are a little lifeless, especially the ones when you take damage). The huge pit in the center of the map is kinda a game killer though, because it's almost impossible to stay out of it and it is impossible to escape. Minor issues aside, great job on this one!

mykola 2018-08-24 18:35

@koala-squad thank you for playing and for sharing your opinion! I'm really glad that you liked it. Yeah, I guess some simple AI would make the game a bit more interesting. Thanks for mentioning the lifelessness of the SFX, that's actually something I need to think about.

simanis 2018-08-27 21:09

Nice job. Some nitpicks: - controls - would have preferred some other key instead of "return" to restart. For example "r", because it is closer to wasd and I wouldn't have to move my arm - the game didn't seem to have any sound on firefox

Overall, I would definitely like to play this game if it was polished some more and perhaps option to play against AI was added, because I got no friends to play with.
