Love the art style, reminds me of darkest dungeon and blind prophet. The parallax really adds a nice touch. Really hard to comment about the writing here without spoiling it for others x) but it was pretty compelling.

Got a really nice feel to it, but it would be great if the father got older in the portrait as you went along.
I liked the game ! Especially the music I really loved it, and the light effects on the backround. What you could have added is maybe some more sprites for the father for him to be more expressive (surprise, fear, anger). Nice job !
Really well-made game! I like the art style, it helps to bring out the feel of despair the story has. I think I got to 3 endings out of 5.
Thanks for the feedback guys, really appreciate it! @cadmium @roilbauk I did end up making older sprites for the father but the pivot point was messed up so the sprite shifted down when we swapped the sprites, it's in the files just not turned on haha
Captivating story, very sad, actually, all of the endings are full of sorrow. The mood is great then. Very beautiful arts and well-suited music
Great art style!Really really cool, I like the art style,
Graphics are cool ! The atmosphere is great. I liked the game concept :)
Wow, so much atmosphere! The writing is genuinely good - a couple of really great lines in there.
You also have that Bourassa-ish art style down =P
Very well put together! It's compelling.
The mouse-look thing is a bit distracting, especially during dialogue.
Wow....this is great! amazing job my friend, the atmosphere was great!
Great graphics, nice music, and cool story. Nice job guys!
I loved this game. The atmosphere, art style, and mood are phenomenal. I did run into a problem where after selecting to continue killing, after killing the next victim - specifically the drunk, the game screen went black, music continued to play, but the game never recovered. I had to alt f4 out and restart. I'll be coming back to this one to see the endings though. Amazing job.
This is a great entry! I loved the graphics and the presentation. The way Death is depicted reminded me a bit of Dark Souls Nito, a design I really like :) I really liked the small things, like how the *knock knock* sfx comes from the door. The story is nice too, and I liked a few details like the ending you get when you keep killing people. Great work!
Great artstyle, sound and atmosphere. The controls and flow are nice and responsive. Though after killing the guard the screen went black and then after clicking a lot I was back at the main menu.
Great stuff! Amazing visuals and a very fitting soundtrack on top. Kudos!
Interesting story and effective gameplay, that's awesome! Good job to the team 🙂
(Poor daddy 😢)
@sefrz @taddl thanks for letting us know, I think I ran into that problem but got through by hitting the escape key. Will definitely update it!
Brilliant atmosphere! I personally would have liked a few more choices and options, but really, for a jam game, I cannot complain. Excellent.
this was really cool - it's got a ton of atmosphere, and for a game jam you got a lot of options/endings in! I especially love the art style, the backgrounds are great! :)
Nice style and cool graphics. Good job!
Really great art style! The art is very OP in this game. It also has a really cool setting for the game. Great work!
Wow. Writing, art style and music create the perfect atmosphere. Different "voices" for different characters is a nice touch, but at a later stage of the game death speaks in the same voice as the father. And I also came across a black screen bug after the last murder. But overall, it's a great entry you've made, I'm a big fan.
Everything feels great in this game, the atmosphere, the art and the writting. A really good game specially in a jam. Congrats to the team ^^
Great entry! Very moody and beautiful. Got a bit teary there at the end after father and daughter were reunited.
I was really impressed - for such a basic game, the polish that went into this was amazing. I really enjoyed swinging my mouse around to see the paralaxing. Really really moody - love it.
Sidenote: at first I thought the shadows on the father's eyes were crazy cool sunglasses. Very cool.
Great job!
Amazing art and atmosphere! Good writing too. I played through all the endings, and (almost) found the good one last. I wish there was more content, and that the "magnifying glass" to click things was used more often. But, I understand that would be hard to accomplish in a game jam: you guys already made an impressive amount of content with the writing and art! Great entry!
Great art style, audio, and mood - however I wasn't really sure how this game fit the theme of your life is currency, since it will only apply the theme in one situation where you choose your own life to save your daughter. Either than that - great work.
The art is really really good. I absolutely love how you depicted death with all the skills and tentacles. It reminds me of nito from dark souls. Music is also great.
However I did not like the story very much. Maybe it is due to the writing or due to how simple the story is. But I understand if you didn't have enough time to work on it.
One more thing, in the first meeting with Death the character is describing Death with death's portrait on the dialog box. I think It'd be more impactful if you put the description in the previous full screen CG. Again, this is a small nitpick.
Overall, I think this is a very solid entry. Good job!
Awesome accomplishment in a weekend! Even the menu screen looks dope, as does most of the art :) Intriguing story with surprisingly high replay value, props on that!
I love the art and music. But it was actually painful to play because of the decisions you made me take :D
I love storytelling games, and this one has an absurdly intense atmosphere around it. Loved the idea of bargaining with death, great job!
That art is killer! Terrific job. The narrative was really enjoyable too :D
The graphic style of this game is amazing and this story is brilliant.
This art makes me want a full fledged game!!! The story felt good to play through. Keep it up!
Love the art! The story is quite good as well, almost like a morbid fairy tale.
At times I wish there were additional options, for example when I went to the well and saw that the only person there was a child, I wish I could have turned back. Option like this wouldn't even necessarily complicate the story, as it would just lead to Emma dying, much like refusing Death's proposal.
Regardless of this little gripe, I was fully immersed and had a pleasant experience. Good job!
Awesome Art, remembers me of The Darkest Dungeon and Hellboy's negative and blocking painting, the story is embracing and i would invest more time into enhancing it's audio and sfx... on the living room some fire comming from the fireplace, footsteps ans wood squeaks and creacks when attending the door, some lock oppening and lock closing, and even door slam upon letting the Death enter and leave the house, some ambience sound on the scenarios like owns, bats, water dripping and some rats on the slums ...
I love the parallax effect and i would also invest on more layers of objects accross the scenario to increase the sensation of depth
This game is a bit too dark for me, but I liked the twist in the plot. Graphics and audio is awesome. Like others already mentioned, the paralax effect is a very nice touch. Keep up the good work.
Loved the art, and the mood is awesome
Very innovative story with different areas and choices. I really like your interpretation of the theme! Since there is no real gameplay, I'd say that your game is a more moody experience than a funny experience. Everything of the visuals was great, I just thought that there is no need to do some **Knock Knock** particles flying around the door since you can already hear the noise plus the protagonist also says it. It just felt like "hey dumb-dumb, here's something you gotta dooo!" Anyways really great game!
I played through I think most of the options, mostly to see what would happen. I like that the better choice appeared after my first playthrough, though it wasn't a hard choice to make as a right choice. Nice job!
You just got the maximum score. The atmosphere is just great. Very big cinema. Just dive in and feel sorry for them. Congrats, for your game.
Nice horror story. Just curious: Is there any happy ending?
