I really love what a mess of bullet casings and bodies the apartment turns into. Feels nice and kinetic, pretty fun arcade shooter.

I was loving the *Hotline Miami* vibes, but the game lagged a lot after around a minute. I managed to survive till the end, yet the fps must have decreased to 1 and nothng worked. Very sad. Game looks great.
@no-grapes-games Thx for the comment and rating!
@halfmule Really? Geezzz, thats going to need to be fixed, thanks for the feedback and letting me know!
EDIT @halfmule: There was pretty much no lag on my and some other peoples parts, so this may take awhile (may be a hardware issue), will get back to you when its solved.
Fun to play ! Impressive details in the action, like blood, sounds, or moving flower pots.
I really enjoyed this game! The art and sound combination (with blood) makes it an awesome game!
@volatile-dove Thank you, im glad those effects were worth it!
@dobbermann2 Thanks for giving me feedback on the fly! Every comment counts.
Loved it! :)
The sounds in this game is amazing! Really liked the impact from shooting, but i found it hard to see the "aiming" cursor sometimes.
"in russia we drink blood" Nice action game!
Oh, this intro and shouts makes me laugh so much :D I loved it. Gameplay is also good, simple and kinda repetitive, but I liked it. Great job! PS. After some minutes of playing, application is really laggy, probably by too many objects.
@bojkott Thx for the feedback, the SFX in the game is one of the things Im most proud of, as for the cursor however, ill see to it after rating ends!
@didigameboy Thank you, and im glad you enjoyed!
@borys Im happy you liked it, however since you are the 2nd one to report the lag issue, I gotta something to ask you 2 (@borys and @halfmule)
*Did the lag happen after you restart the level (if you did) or begin since the very first (and whether it was late into the round).*
and
*What are your computer specs? (IK it should not matter, but I wanna know just in case)*
If you two answer, thank you, and sorry for the trouble.
**EDIT:** Reuploaded a new version that *should* fix it, bon voyage!
Nice entry guy ! The SFX makes the game really intense and it's pretty fun to play ! Good job !
@fleoh Thank you, glad you enjoyed!
@darylsteak I lost for about 2 rounds and at the 3rd one I got somewhere further, and it happened in late state of the game. My laptop has GeForce 940M, but i7 processor and 16GB RAM, so I don't think it's fault of my laptop. I think it's a problem of number of dead bodies and blood effects. In the late state of the game there are too much of them in my opinion.
@borys Thanks for the quick response, I just uploaded a potentially fixed version.
You see, due to a small thing I overlooked, dead bodies just kept spawning blood puddles, and altho this wasn't very bad at first, it gets worst tenfold as they pile up.
Nonetheless, should be fixed!
Same issue persists, at roughly 100 seconds remaining it gets too slow. I am using an outdated laptop, so it can definitely be on my end only.
@halfmule That maybe the case, my deepest apologies.
Hahahahaha! Love it!
Time seemed to last a little long. Great Hotline Miami vibe, great audio had me in tears laughing.
@iagorigel Im happy you did, thx for playing.
@lurkinmcclerkin Thank you for playing the game on stream! All feedback is important, but those on video are the most valuable. Glad you had fun, and ill tune the time down when LD44 is over!
Les graphismes sont mignons quoi qu'un peu cubique et l'illustration est sympa !
@lola Merci!
Tres sympa, super simple mais vachement efficace, j'ai trouve ca bien cool ! good job ^^
Amazing game! Beautiful art, satisfying weapons, immersive sound. Walking speed is a bit slow and I had a couple of glitches where enemies would walk through walls, other than that great game.
This is amazing, the camera shake on fire helps a lot. Gameplay is perfect, sometimes the troops avoid rooms a LITTLE too much.
Whats supposed to happen when the timer reaches 0? it just zoomed into the screen and the game kept going.
@sholyu Merci.
@sockyman Thank you, I unfortunately couldn't fix the 'walk thru walls' bug, but nonetheless glad you had fun!
@ryan-wine OOOOOOH NOOOOO, call me an idiot, there is an win screen, fully set up and everything, but I forgot to connect it to the timer! Fixed now.
As for the troops, their search pattern is randomised so... ideally I would give em a checklist but time was short.
Thank for playing btw, and rly happy you actually managed to finish the game, thx for playing!.
really liked the randomized pathfinding of the enemies. Really made it seem like they were trying to flank me. Lots of fun!
The powerful sound effects and the character voice make the atomsphere serious and exciting! I got lots of fun from it!
Enemy State The Of! Pretty fun game with a nice clean look
Great intro and transition into gameplay. Art is quite good as well. Bullet SFX is a bit loud. I think you could get the movement physics to feel snappier and more responsive, but it's not a big deal. Really nice work!
@shaner421 Thank you, glad you like how the enemies moved, for how simple they are im quite surprised how effective they were. Kinda like the ghost in Pac-man.
@justuspan Thank you for playing!
@jkazuk Thats a joke im never gonna give up, and im never gonna let you down. Thanks for the praise!
@trevor-shoe Movement was done with a tiny bit of acceleration and deceleration, I guess that might be it. The SFX are also agreeably loud, i should add a volume slider. Thank for playing and for the feedback!
all im getting is this weird screen about money transfer, it seems as though i cant play the game...
@unplugred IM SORRY. There has been an accident, its been fixed now, please give the game another try. Pls
@darylsteak oml hahahaha had to turn down the volume so that the neighbours wont hear russian screaming and gunshots, the sound design was absolutely nuts! pixel art was very consistent and although i died a lot i still managed to win like, a hundred times in the bugged version so im still rich af >:)
@unplugred Mark my words... RUSSIAN SCREAMING IS BEST SCREAMING! Hahaha, anyway, glad you liked it!
After several times of playing, I reach the end of this game. So exciting feeling when I want to survive in last few seconds. Using long distance shooting is to the entries of each room can help you beat this game easier. And try to stay in the middle two rooms which have no window, once next wave of enemies appear, welcome them with your fastest mouse clicking! Got lots of fun from it.
I love the huge mess your apartment turns into, quite a challenge with fun and fair gameplay.
@justuspan Thanks, im happy you managed to find your own way of playing, great job on completing it!
@drearyplane8 Thank you, nice you had fun!
It is basically Hotline Miami, but the Russian shouting actually makes it much better :D. I enjoyed playing this one :-).
@banzi Thx for playing!
Really love the sound design, it's cool to play but maybe a bit long. Well done
@oscar-onix i now agree, after LD44 is over I will reduce it from 3 to 2 mins :>
I really enjoyed playing this game. The sound design is really cool ! Nice entry :)
I really like this game! It gets really intense at parts, especially if you get surrounded. I had about 10 seconds remaining and enemies were all around the apartment. I still won, but my heart was beating like crazy. The fun is definitely there and graphics and audio are pretty good too. The only issue was the lag that occurred with the amount of bullet casings on the ground. It would be pretty good to have them disappear after a while. Overall, I'd say this is a good game! :)
@gaming-night Thx for playing and the praise!
@jandourek Im happy you enjoyed it! The casings are actually kinda optimised, they are pasted into the background after awhile. but the sheer amount of em are just..... lol.
Thx for playing!
This game was really fun to play, loved the joke between money and communism ahahhaa
But about the level design, if this is a house, it should have more details and things on it. There is no point of a kitchen that is that big, that area could have been the garage, and so on...
But this was a great game, congrats!
fun game, reminds me of hotline Miami
@shunaky I actually wanted to do more detail, but its easier said than done. After doing what you see in the game it was just a massive pain to think of stuff to put, since there can only be so many plates and papers. (also lack of time)
its also an apartment, which also doesn't really sense unless you consider you are a 5 star russian minister.
But realisim was not the point, and in my opinion realism is overated! thx for playing, glad you liked it!
I like the feeling of the shooting, can feel the impact. I played with the OST of Katana Zero in the background. really fitting.
Fun games. I spent 10 min trying to survive in this Soviet Russia
@fidrik Thank you! it was made with that game in mind.
@palsina Guns, even if on a monitor, should always feel both heavy in the hand and powerful in the sound! thx for playin, glad you liked it!
@quagga Thank you for playing! Its the hardcore part of Moscow.
Nice game ! Really liked the audio, and the sounds effects ^^
@dodormeur Thx! Im proud of them.
*Hotline miami fleshbacks* Really well made game! Good luck!
@falak *Now I just need to make heads bashable*
Thx for trying my game!
Nice Entry @darylsteak . I only dont see the theme about life is currency but the game is fun and very playable. Good Job!
@luis-j-benitez Its on the first screen, where you click to begin
"Trade national secrets for 100,000,000?" the transfer is halted if you die.
That aside, glad you enjoyed it!
@darylsteak My bad, you are right!
Impressivly polished game. Pretty hard to play though. The grphics, animations and sounds work nicely togeather. On the other hand it has a little hard to play the game with a 4k display. :D The 'aim' dot was hard to keep track of.
The sounds are very satisfying and whatever the intruders say at the begining is funny for some reason. Personally, i'd like the crosshair to be more visible as it gets lost in the screen sometimes. Was very fun to play and suprisingly tactical.
What engine did you use?
Nice one, pretty hard but it like challenging games!
Nice game, amazing sfx and great graphics. I would change the friction caused by the walls, i died many times because i couldn't move :sob: and once a guy got stuck in the wall
But, again, very good game
@blacklambert and @mza , Thank you for trying out the game! I agree about the crosshair problem, will change after LD44!
btw MZA, I used Clickteam Fusion 2.5 .
@nerzal Thats a relief, did you ever finish it? I feel the time was too long.
@tozzo4316 Thx for playing1 Unfortunately the "friction" is not a feature but a bug with the game engine (CF2.5 is bad at handling collisions). Glad you liked it either way.
@darylsteak nope, didn't finish it. Died before doing so :D
I love it, I just loved the whole Russia vibe of the game, really cool!
It's a fun game, nothing really to criticize!
@pseudobytes Yep, Russia, where KGB breaking down door is average day. Glad you liked it!
@cozmic Thats good to know!
Hotline miami vibes, great job :)
Great mechanics and very complete jam game, sounds are epic and very fun to play
Russian special forces are just what I needed :spy:
@jofersgames Just what I hoped to accomplish. Thx for playin!
@flayerwolf Thank you, glad you took the time to try!
@pusheeneiro Dont worry! Their just there to *"dis-persuade you"*. Thx for playin btw!
Nice, this looks like a completed game!
It's a fun game! I think I'd prefer to have an on screen popup or something other onscreen indicator of where people came from. The camera shake is too much, in my opinion. It's fun, though, but movement seems a little clunky. As everyone else has already said, it's definitely got some Hotling Miami vibes.
I had fun! Well done, responsive as should be for such a game. Nice, simplistic AI that doesn't feel too abusable, good job! A few criticisms though: It isn't always clear what is an obstacle and what isn't. I'm pretty sure the enemies that spawn on the left window, lower part not long into the game walk through walls, they did twice in a row for me.
Thank you for making this!
Nice entry ! Good feeling when shooting. There is details here and there that's cool. You manage to implement a simple IA well, never an easy task during a short time frame ! Thanks !
That was fun  Reminded me a lot of Hotline Miami. And the Russian troops voice lines, reacting to your shots was a really nice touch. Did you record the lines yourself or took them from some old TV show?
@bakenshake Thanks for the feedback! I'll see to it!
@eclahn Fair enough, the obstacles sometimes arent infact very obvious, especially against the wood flooring. As for the AI walking thru walls, thx for letting me know!
@mrschlag2 The AI was actually surprisingly simple. Along the lines of:
"If hear gunshot - go to gunshot until there is LoS between AI and gunshot location" "If player is seen but no LoS - change mode to 'chase' and go to last known location of player until LoS is established" "If not see player for X time - change mode to 'search', pick random place to go on map every 3 seconds" "If LoS between player is established - fire burst with SMG"
And yet, with those 5 rules, they turned out to be way better than I had ever hoped! Thx for playing btw!
@annie-owl Well it was made with the intent of emulating the bloody game (not that it's a bad one, quite fun infact). As for the russian voices... ill let you in on a secret:
They were ripped from a meme video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMqx2CUSjiA.
Glad you played and enjoyed!
@darylsteak that's some :ok_hand: memes you've got there comrade
This is a great game! The gun noises were well implemented and having read that there used to be lag, I did not notice that harsh lag until the very end of the game when there were multiple soldiers firing at me at the same time. I would have maybe hoped to see the theme tied to the game more closely but as a spiritual child of Hotline Miami it works well.
Really nice gameplay and hotline miami vibes. Only thing i would change is the crosshair that is easy to miss. Good job tho!
Putin, vodka, balalayka © Good voice :D and funny game
Great entry! love the sound and feeling of panic. The zip cord sound really adds a lot to it. Great work!
@teemu-pulkkinen So they only appeared when they shot at you? hmmmmmmmmm.... thats a very important clue! Thanks for playing and letting me know!
@flamus Yeah the crosshair does need fixing abit, hope you enjoyed it!
@ludwici The only 3 things you need! Thanks for playing!
@designernap Mhm, when I thought of soldiers rappeling, the first thing I thought of was 'ziptie'. Thank you for playing!
Hi @darylsteak! Cool game! Especially sounds are very funny) Complete it with a little mouse cheat and great fun.
I download this today, and i have just a black screen when i launch, i'm on windows 8.
Cool game.
- The view could use a bit of zooming in. It's hard to see all the very small sprites.
@vlad-dae Thank you, glad you played!
@robowarrior1982 thats... very strange. What monitor are you using?
@mdwade Thanks for playing! What monitor are you using?
@darylsteak Built in monitor on my Acer Nitro 5. Basically just about 17 inches and 1080p
@mdwade Huh, maybe it's an opinion thing then, because in my opinion its ok, but ok. Ill see if I can make it bigger without damaging the image quality
@darylsteak i play with my iiyama 24inch 1920x1080, can you make a windowed version for test ?
@robowarrior1982 Added a version with the menu bar so you can minimise it!
it's low resolution but i can test ! @darylsteak low.png
@robowarrior1982 Fantastic! Is that the whole screen tho? There should be more
That's a delicately made game. The camera shock effect when shooting is great.
@darylsteak yeah its all i see, i don't see the bottom of the map.....
@darylsteak Alright. thats something to fix, thx for telling.
This is really confusing tho.I have absolutely no idea what could cause this.
@fiiction Thx, glad you tried the game!
I really like the game, the sound quality was amazing, not mentioning art was polished. The bad side that it has a bug with spawning enemies and at the end it gets laggy, it could be better optimized.
The sound effects were very good (I especially liked the russian screams), the music a bit less. The blood pools were well done too, I think round particles would work better though because square seems a bit weird for liquid.
I like Hotline Miami a lot, one of it's core mechanics though is that the enemies and you die in one hit. Maybe you were trying to go for more of a swarm gameplay but I still think one hp for enemies would be more satisfying, and if the protagonist has an hp bar it would be nice to be able to see it. A reloading mechanic might be interesting too.
Overall the game feels good and it's pretty polished, the particle effects and screen shake are nice. Well done !
Wow - that was fun to play! Those realistic russian screams were creating nice tense atmposphere.
Not sure why but a little bit hard to aim (maybe a little bigger corsshair?) and it was lagging from time to time. I see here tense heavy metal music in background :)
Great job!
In Soviet Russia this will be a single allowed game to play  On my second try I was killed literally with 1 second left!! So me voting for reduced round time.
Как славянин, я бы мог сказать тебе, что этот проект является оскорбительной пропагандой против родины моей. Тебя ненавижу Американ Имперялист! Собакам собачья смерть :/
I could say the previous words above, but I love your game - really well done and with good vibes. I think that you can improve graphics and timer. The main gameplay reminds me (as you said) Hotline Miami. For me all works fine as expected and I had fun playing. Thank you for this entry ++
Great game! I love the sound effects and the game feel - bullets felt powerful! The crosshair was a bit too small though, and the game is hard (but that adds to the appeal, I like the challenge)
Overall great entry!
Lots of fun, and it felt really good to play! Performance got pretty bad by the end of the level, though.
Great ! The only thing who annoy me a bit is the camera shake at every gunshot otherwise everything is good
Awesome game! Loved the SFX, made the game come to life. Congrats for an awesome entry.
**Sorry for the late replies!** @biebras Ah yeah, gotta fix the enemies and the lag, I got a hunch what may be causing it, we'll see. Thx for playing!
@ashtrail Thank you for playing! I agree with the sound and music, with the latter being not very good... (I need to work on my music making skills), as for the blood particles, I think that's a better a good idea! Although I'll make them more splatter shaped than round.
The enemies die in 2 hits! The HP bar is also at the bottom (sadly did not draw attention to it). And a reloading mechanic was one I never got to due to time constraints. Will add tho!
Thx for the detailed feedback!
@bartosz Aye aye, the lag is an issue, and the crosshair could be better, will try to fix!
The music was suppose to be Russian style, missed by half a continent.
Thank you for trying out!
Will do the other replies in a moment.
@stark Annnnnd as the vote goes thru the final decisionnnnnn isssssss, reduced time! Thanks for the feedback!
@geckoo1337 Ok then, I'll try to add more stuff and details and improve the timer. Thanks for letting me know! Спасибо!
@hadi-danial Bullets should always feel powerful in such games! As for the crosshair, i will try my best to design a better one. Thank you for trying out Enemy Of The State!
@dxk2294 Performance is infact something that can be improved, thx for playin!
@florian93 Hmmmm, some people like the camera shake some don't..... time to make it an option then! Thx for the feedback and playing!
@oddsocks Thank you, may the same results come to you as well!
@geckoo1337 he clearlly can't understand whats up :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
LOL
Really liked this. Performance was a bit of an issue but it was still playable. AI seemed surprisingly good.
Fun game... I couldn't get to the end though. :( I couldn't see a health bar anywhere, that might have been handy. Feels good to play anyway.
Very well made game, I loved the whole hotline miami feel of the game though a few more attacks would have been good, like meele or granades or something. The sounds of the game especially when they breach and scream russian is absolutely fantastic and it cracks me up every time. Though the music is not very fitting for the game purpose, something more hardcore and energetic would have been better to make the experience amazing. Overall a great game! Good job!
It reminds me of one of my favourite games, Heat Signature. It's really fun, the enemy pathfinding is great, some indication of health would have been nice. Good job, thank you.
I'm getting some Hotline Miami vibes here. I like how the guns were punchy — they may have been too loud though. I almost felt like I needed hearing protection. It'd be good if the movement were faster too, and if you wouldn't get slowed down by moving against walls.
Nice work.
**Sorry for the late replies, rip modem**
@simplepotential Thank you for playing! Gotta fix the performance issues, lotsa people have been getting them lately.
@garys Ah yeah, there is a health bar on the bottom, but it's not very noticable, something which I will fix in the post jam version, thx for trying out the game!
@wolf-neon There was originally a grenade attack for the AI, but I in the end disabled it for reasons I do not remember. In the post jam version I will try to add throwable objects (such as table lamps and other stuff) along with melee.
As for the music, I tried going for a soviet theme but that quickly turned into an identity crisis, in hindsight your suggestion for something 'more hardcore and energetic' is way better, and to which i will try to make.
Thank you for playing and giving such helpful feedback! (also glad you liked the sfx)
@feips There is one at the bottom, but it's hard to notice at first, will try to fix this in the post-jam version. Thx for playin!
@ransom Yep, guns are loud, volume slider to be added! As for the movement, I will try making them more fluid and smooth. Thank you for trying out!
I'm not sure how it fits into the theme. The apartment doesn't look like it is set in Russia. Enemies don't telegraph when they are going to attack, so it's hard to know when to take cover and when to attack. There is also no animation to show that someone is taking damage.
@mika-la-grand Thanks for the feedback. I might as well address them one by one.
When the game first starts, you can make a deal where you trade national secrets for a whole lot of money, however, should you die, the money transfer is cancelled. Bit on the nose, but too late for that now.
As for the apartment, the level was first designed gameplay wise and then the furniture and decorations placed around it. I also don't know what a soviet high class apartment looks like as there are very few images online, therefore instead of strictly sticking to the theme of the level I just focused on making it look good (or atleast, tried).
Enemies don't really telegraph when they are going to attack because, well, it's sometimes kinda obvious. It's also pretty hard to think up an animation or something when the gun is already raised and aimed. I can however add an animation to show when they have line of sight with whatever they are aiming at (be it last known location of the player).
Finally, I only had time to add blood splatters when enemies are hit and a speed slow-down when they are damaged (they are 2 shot kill, being hit once cuts speed in half), as I was already rushing to finish the game (scope got a bit too large, and I was stepping in certain unfamiliar territories).
Finally a game that runs just fine at 5:4 resolution!
Hard game! I like the mechanics and flow in general but there was a bit of frame dropping at some points as mentioned by other commenters, and the bullet paths as well as the tiny cursor were really hard to see against the bright background. I think with a bit more visual feedback my aiming could have been much better and I wouldn't have dropped dead like a fly due to a sudden burst of bullets from an enemy that I thought I was aiming at.
The gunshot audio is quite loud but I think it's more the fact that it's louder than everything else (i.e. the music) that is the problem. Good luck with the music rewrite!
Still pretty fun though :)
Love it, but the sounds could use some work. I love the general sound design, it's very neatly choreographed, but the volume levels on some sound effects is insane. I had to panic ALT+F4 to protect my ears :) The gameplay is simple, and enjoyable. Wish there was a little bit more to the game, like, more weapons perhaps? But overall, good entry, thanks for making this game :)
Good entry!! Of course it needs some work, but it's ludum dare and the time window is really small. I think you can end up with a good hotline miami like game with some story and fixing the gameplay stuff. You should keep working on it!! you can create a great thing!. Great job!
@ddrkirbyisq Yep! After making the mistake of only designing for 1980 x 1080 for so long, the lesson has been learn't! The frame dropping has been addressed in the newly uploaded Post-Jam version by lowering the fps from 100 to 80 followed by tons of optimization, and the bullets have been blackened (cursor still needs fixing tho)!
Audio slider is on the way, and thanks for the wish for good luck! And thanks for playing as well!
@ildfuglen Aye, sound needs some work, its not bad, but it needs polish. As for the weapons.. im considering a submachine gun or a double barrel, both could be fun to play with and can pop up halfway thru the match. Thank you for playing and the feedback, and good luck on Venatio!
@webox Thank you, this is actually the very first LD entry im seriously extending past the jam, and I hope it does well. Thanks for the encouragement and kind words, and nice game of yours btw.
**To everyone above, even extending past this comment, a new post-jam version has been released with many more expected, thank you all for playing, rating, and leaving feedback!**
Hi, great hide and seek simulator!
Also super fun game. Liked the meme russian voices.
@pl4typus thank you! I hope to keep the hiding aspect, and glad you liked the meme-y voices!
Cool concept :) One of the few gamejam games that I continued to play after dying. I like that it's not too difficult
It's pretty addictive!
@simanis Mhm, glad you played even after dying. I also worked out the difficulty according to the other feedback, and implemented it in the post jam version. Thank you for playing!
@asfdfdfd Thanks, as long as you don't get hooked like gambling I will take that as a complement! Thx for playin!
@darylsteak Thank you so much for sharing! I apologize for this taking so long to produce >_<
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAQMOGQ28sE
@alext-design I apologize even more for my even later reply! Thanks for playing and thanks for the video feedback!
